This hotel is advertised as a 5* when it clearly failed to even push a 3*. On arrival, at 6am the hotel night receptionist, a man named "Stelios" was rude, and most unhelpful leaving us to our own devices. Our room had cockroaches, the balcony made of wood was rotting... more

Not the best hotel ever!
Spent two weeks all inclusive here from 17th August with my partner and our 5 year old son. The hotel itself is ok, though defintely not a 4 star - I see that the Mitsis group tout this as a 5 star... hmmmmm - oh yeah!! On the surface it looks fine, but after a while you can see that many parts of the hotel look a little 'tired' - and health and saftey precautions are not what they could be. Staff were very friendly, but then I rate the Greeks as the friendliest people I have ever met and they love children. The food was pretty poor quality wise and the choice very limited with no childrens menu. Theme nights existed in the restaurant, but in 14 days we had chinese 3 times and very poor quality at that. Try to avoid the far end of the restuarant unless you don't mind eating with the faint smell of sewerage in your nostrils. The hotel room was comfortable. There have been some negative comments made here about the beds as they have concrete bases but the matresses were more than adequate. The rooms were cleaned daily and were done well. All have air conditioning and mosquito repellent. There are two pool areas, the second only recently opened. The main pool is not very suitable for young children as it is 2-3 meters deep with only a very small shallow area for small kids. The second pool is much much better, with the deep end being not much over a metre and a good shallow end. This pool area is quiter too if you want to get away from the crowd. The water in both pools is very very salty and chemicals are added regularly - not very nice for the eyes! The mosquitos are a BIG problem! Be prepared to be eaten! My boy fell asleep one evening round by the newer pool I have just mentoned - he was covered in a towel with only his face exposed, but - and I am not exagerating, he received a total of 42 ....yes forty two bites from the neck up in a couple of hours! Everyone I spoke to had their fair share of bites to a lesser or greater extent. The mosquito problem also extends itself to the restaurant where the situation is quite bad. Fore warned is fore armed, so please do go prepared. I was bitten about 30- 40 times in the two weeks and my partner more than that. In the resorts defence though - we do always seem to be a magnet for these creatures. Entertainment from the animation team was what I have come to expect from these types of holidays. Lots of things are organised during the day for those who want to be active. Evening entertainment was ok - a lot of effort went into the shows that were put on though there is only so much bingo that I can take. The animation team members were all very friendly and seemed to enjoy what they were doing. The kiddies club was run by members of the animation team. My boy loved it although there was not a lot to do. It mostly consisted of children sitting around drawing and colouring. There were no events organised for the little ones to join in with. The hotel has 3 bars - one inside the hotel that serves the main pool area. The second by the new pool and a third on the beach. Good service from all of them. Niko and George at the new pool bar will often provide you with their own brand of daytime entertainment!! Psalidi itself is fairly quiet - a number of tavernas and shops exist locally to the hotel. Kos town is a 10 minute bus ride away and well worth a visit. Plenty to see, lots of places to eat and a lovely harbour too. Finally a comment about the tour operator. We went with Thomas Cook. As usual there was the morning get together for all new guests which gave the rep a chance to explain a bit about the area/island. I was very suprised and dissapointed though to see that Thomas Cook were involved with a time share company who tried to push their products on you at this meeting. Shame on you Thomas Cook - ok I easily ignored them, but this is not the sort of thing a reputable holiday firm should be involved in. For that reason alone, I will not use Thomas Cook again. Marks out of ten then... Hotel - 6 Rooms - 7 Food - 5 Entertainment - 7 Location (mosquito land) - 4 Certainly not a 4 star let alone 5! At the end of the day, I does depend on what you want from a holiday and what you are used to. I have been on a few all inclusive deals in Greece and this one is at the bottom of my list. I am told that the hotel will be undergoing refurbishment and that something is being done about the mosquito situation in the restaurant. Kos island is definitely worth a vist though. Bon vacance!!
welllll good!!!
this holiday was amazing! definatly the best so far. the animation team were wicked (especially pete!) and the entertainment was better then expected. i would 100% go back. the weather was great everyday and the beach's facilities were fantastic too! theres a load of different nationalities so theres no risk of spending 2 weeks alone! the food was great even though it did repeat itself on the second week. i would reccomend this hotel to anybody as its so close to the town and theres so much to do else where, such as a 10 minute walk to the water park, and a go karting track near by also. there was a sports bar about 20 metres down the road so we were able to watch the matches. the bus takes you right into town at night, so you can get the most of all the action. i genuinely dont think i could have got more for my money, it was amazing and i am definatly going to persuade everyone to go back!!!!
please read before u go!
Booked 14 day stay at Ramita . This hotel has good facilities and nice pool area, but has a big problem. The hotel is situated a few hundred meters from a greek national park ( which is a marsh). The stay at this hotel was spoilt by the millions and millions of mosquitos which desend on to this hotel every day to feast on the few british tourist that have checked in. I have travelled over most of Europe and never seen so many. Iam not making this up! We has mosquitos in the food even, and although the hotel tries to keep the infestation controlled with insectacide the problem is just toooo big. Please reconsider this hotel. Also brits. make up a small percentage of guests so the catering is geared toward Scandanavian and German. You have been warned!
Worst Holiday I Been On
Went to Ramira Beach Aug 05 I had two rooms as I had 4 children, the balcony actually moved away from the wall in both rooms and the hotel reservation manager point blank refused to move us into a more safer room instead they took the handle off the balcony doors so they could not be opened at all. I personally didn't find this helpful with a busy two year old, on a more positive note the other staff were lovely, always happy to help especially the staff in the restaurant. I paid for a 5* holiday and when I got to the Ramira Beach I was extremely disappointed I wouldn't rate this hotel much more that 3*. My entire holiday was spoilt and I couldn't wait to get home. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to any of my friends or family but it does depend on how high your expectations are.
Absolutely Brilliant
We stayed at the Ramira Beach from 3rd - 18th August 2005. Such a good holiday and one to remember. The Hotel is kept spotless by the hard working staff, rooms done every day and clean towels daily. Bar Staff, Restaurant Staff, Reception and cleaners all very friendly and so eager to please. The food was wonderful, I am a veggie and quite fussy with it but there was always something quite delicious for me to have. The animation team work so hard and are always on the go trying to make our holiday enjoyable, young and old will enjoy this team as their is something for everyone. The large pool is quite deep but there is a childrens pool that is quite shallow, there is also a newer pool at the back which is suitable for children and adults that dont like deep water. All in all I say 10/10 even although there were a few mosquito's. The Hotel is worth going to so take a spray with you.
Fantastic Mitsis!
We stayed at the Mitsis Ramira Beach Hotel in Kos Town in May 2005. The hotel and food was excellent, the entertainment was OK and the all inclusive package is really ggod value for money. If you are looking for a break where you want to relax and do absolutley nothing this is your hotel. The standard of service was impeccable, very clean hotel - rooms cleaned and towels changed everyday and the toilets are cleaned every ten minutes!
A bit of a let down
Just back from this hotel. I went with my husband and 16 year old son. We had a slightly disappointing time but made the most of it. Good points - clean, good food, lovely friendly waitresses in dining room and hard working, energetic animation staff. Bad points - sold to me as a five star. This is not true. It is about a 3 star at a push. It has old furnishings, back breaking beds, mosquitoes were a nightmare. Some people had over 70 bites. One man taken to hospital. Refused to stay in room 21 on arrival as it was infested with mossies and was next to a very noisy bar.My second room did not have a hair dryer or bidet, water was often cold but especially difficult to get a warm shower at peak times. Water in the two pools made your eyes sting so much that we refused to swim in them and chose to go to the beach.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Ramira Beach Hotel
We stayed at the Ramira Beach Hotel for a week July 2005. Rooms were basic but really comfortable with everything we needed including mosquito plugs already plugged in (which are needed in the area due to wetlands nearby) The room was brilliantly clean and cleaned thoroughly each day with fresh linen. Facilities were extremely good. Staff friendly, especially to the children we noted. The food, obviously on buffet style and many many choices each day (although the same choice each day, over a weeks worth ). Pool was fantastic. Entertainment great - there if you wanted it - quiet bars/rooms if you didnt. Psalidi very quiet with some extemely authentic tavernas, so if you want a change from all inclusive you need only walk up the road to find many great places to eat and drink.
absolutly fantastic!
i absoultly loved this hotel. i travel everywhere and ive been everywhere from egypt to devon. this holiday was by far one of the best ive ever been on. the room was nice, but not absolutyl fantastic, the food was lovely. the pool was great apart from the fact that it was salt water, which irritated the eyes a bit, and it was very deep, (but i prefere a deep pool). the thing that made the holiday was the friends and staff. i remember on the first day me and my dad played darts, the next day the staff were already calling us by our names. thay were funy, poilete and extreme helpful and friendly. i normally find the entertainment staff in hotels a bit cheesey, and when i was telling a family member about the hotel thay said it sounded a bit like butlins! (it was nothing like butlins). i met one girl from germany and it was her 5th time in the hotel. i met another big group of people eho were on their fourth year! and one person on their third. the only complaint i really had, was that the paths were slippery when wet, but you just had to be careful. at first we noticed alot of diffrent nationalitys in the hotel and we thought we may have had a problem making friends (19 diffrent nationalitys!) but it was quite the oppostie! even if you wanted a quiet relaxing day by the pool, the staff wouldn't pester you, but show an interest. i had the best time, and would deffinatly go back next year. if anyone is thinking of doing any trips paradise beach is worth a visit!
Definitely worth a visit
I was at the Ramira Beach Hotel in May 2005-a cab from the airport cost approx 25€. The hotel is very pleasant though a 45-50 minute walk into Kos Town-bikes very cheap though at 3€ a day. The rooms are adequate and clean, and the staff very efficient and friendly. The food was probably some of the best I have had in a holiday hotel, the puddings were excellent. I should not hesitate in going again.
