We arrived at this hotel on Memorial Weekend. Needless to say it was very busy. The parking valets were rude and very much in your face!
On entering the lobby we were greeted with police officers standing at every corner. First I thought someone famous was staying in the hotel but no it was apparently normal for police to be present in the hotel. After spending an hour waiting to be checked in the receptionist greeted us with the same respect the parking valet did. Clearly we were being inconvenient to her.
The hotel itself is vast with many bars and restaurants. I have to say the food was excellent and there was no shortage of activities. The rooms are however very small and I would class them as a 3* not 4 or 5. The hotel was also very noisy at night. We stayed for three nights and never got a nights sleep.
The pool area is nice however not much seating space. In one morning alone while we were walking by the pool we got stopped twice by security asking for our room keys. This together with the police presence made me feel uneasy!!
I would not go back to this hotel again.

The Deauville Hotel was a true delight to visit, we did not encounter any of the problems the other reviewer mentioned, infact we enjoyed the stay so much we are going back this Christmas before a trip to the Florida Keys.
The hotel is oozing with character and depite perhaps a need for a minor facelift - it is a true gem.
The staff could not have been more helpful and we were always dealt with very promptly.
The beach is a stones throw away from the pool and jacuzi, and the main shopping areas are only a short taxi ride - there is plenty to do in the near vacinity. We would definately recommend this hotel if what you are looking for is charm and character.
