first time in turkey for me and my boyfriend. absolutely amazing time. close to all amenities, food was beautiful in all the restaurants as well as hotel. we tried 'the tempo' for chinese, 'the windy bay steak house' does good deals on food steaks were perfect. 'the golden spoon' for chinese in neighbouring bitez was lovely and they picked us up from the hotel and took us back later in the evening for No charge. everything was reasonably priced shopping is brilliant but dont forget to haggle!!!! hotel was clean with plenty to do. great pool for a swim or games. staff were more than helpful so thanks, nico, ozzy, akon, david, emre, ido, engin, rose. had a fantastic time and already booking to go back june 2010!!!! cant wait!!!
- Advice: lots to do, shopping, bars, restaurants, boat trips, historical places.

Siesa beach apts is defo the best place we have ever been on hol! Never been to a place were the staff are sooooo friendly. I fell in love with all of them. Nico [so hot!] ,Mo [our fave!] , Emra [sweetie!] Akon [the nutta!] , engin [a.k.a photo!] david, ido, charie, and ozzy are the best guys I’ve ever met! all so sexy an funny! We had such a laugh dancing on the bar and getting thrown in the pool! When we arrived they carried our bags up to our room which was so clean. The hotel is so pretty with flowers everywhere. The top pool is less busier and more relaxing. if you do one thing when your there do the boat trip through the hotel. Not through your holiday company. It is much better value and you go on a smaller boat with lunch and tea. We even saw dolphins was the best day trip. Also if you get the chance the water sports are so much fun. We recommend the flying fish boat ride!! we were in a group of girls all aged 17-19 and it was perfect for us! Gumbet bar street has some awesome bars.. defo go to the x bar! and Tropicana’s the outdoor nightclub has a foam party every night at 2! we went to halicarnas nightclub in Bodrum, which was sooo expensive! we paid 40 turkish leira on the door [would have been even more if we had done it through the holiday rep] and drinks were so expensive! 15 TL for one cocktail!!!!!! it was an amazing nightclub but not many English people and only really played Turkish music.
the siesta beach apts are perfect for small groups of young people [especially girls as the bar staff are all gorgeous!] and couples. And family’s as the staff are always playing with peoples kids and entertaining everyone!!
the dolphin bar at the hotel is amazing! didn’t even need to go out every night as we had such a good time at the hotel!!
best week of our lives! We will be going back next year!!!!

Booked a cheapie off teletext for somewhere to stay whilst we were out in turkey sorting out an apartment we have bought, and in booking the siesta beach we couldn't have picked a better choice. The place is in a great location close to everything, the staff are great and the places are cleaned daily by happy cheerful cleaning staff.
The bar staff and entertainment staff were excellent and being a rugby supporter they even went out of their to make sure i could watch the british lions rugby whilst other pre organised entertainment was on.
They only lost a point from me because of the hotel shop in reception where i get the feeling you get ripped off a bit......correction alot by the guys in reception who seem to make up their own prices. We used the shop in the reception next door where prices were marked and very reasonable.
But I would definitely recommend the siesta beach to anyone who is looking for a great fun cheerful holiday.
The Windy Bay along the beachfront footpath is a great place to eat, and I agree with previous recommendations to eat there.

We booked this only a few weeks before we went, first time to Turkey and loved it, the Siesta was lovely, the apartments were amazing, so modern, clean and well thought out.We used the turkish bath facilities on site which were fab, it was so relaxing and would recommned it to anyone thinking about trying it, helps with your tan.The beaches were lovely with lots of sunbeds to choose from, we found some great restaurants and ended up booking a boat trip thru one of them, which was lovely, alot cheaper than if you booked with your rep. I have already booked to go back, its nice that this time i have a bit of knowledge on the place, things to look out for, such as, be careful when you go to the market at Bodrum, barter to your hearts content, but check your purchase before you leave, i ended up with completely the wrong thing, take a mixture of currencies, they welcome the euro and sterling. If you are self catering, a visit to the Tansas supermarket in Bodrum is a must, its next to the market and a few mins away from the bus station, but you can stock up on all your essentials and some goodies, lots more choice and cheap.

Stayed here for a week in September with my boyfriend. Extremely Friendly Staff - Muzzy , Ozzy (we Miss ya !Does the Black vest top fit???) and the incredible sexy Nico. Apartments were spotless. food was fantastic and whole complex was clean and tidy. Dolphin Bar is mad with a selection of music and many a trick with an ice cube or 2 ( ask ozzy). Water slide excursion is well worth a visit as is a visit to the Bodrum Market. Buses leave every 5 mins from the doorstep of the hotel. Beach is clean and literally on the doorstep of the hotel. Watersports and Restaurants nearby. Try the Windy Bay for steaks and for breakfast. Very hard to beat the quality and value. Red Dragon (although is renouned in Gumbet for a meal) didnt really live up to its name for us and we preferred the Windy Bay.
Made a few friends over there too.... Scott and Lauren ./ Matt and Beth!
Definately coming back to this place next year. Lets hope the prices dont increase!!!!

On first approach to the hotel we had some initial concerns. We arrived at around 1am and there was very loud music coming from the Dolphin Bar which is at the front of the hotel by the pool outside its main entrance and reception area.
However, the staff were amazingly friendly and showed us to our room immediately as we had two very tired children with us (our daughters are ages 4 and 2). Our room was number 1422 and was beautiful. It was up a flight of steps and down a path covered by overhead flowers, and all doors are set bath from the path slightly to prevent those walking by from disturbing you. The apartment was of a good size, very modern and just a quick pop to reception and payment of 40 Lira sorted Air Conditioning our for us for the whole weeks stay. We had a balcony and upon opening the balcony door we could hear the music from the bar, but not to the extent where it kept us awake so we were happy.
The only drawback was the heat (which obviously has no bearing upon the hotel or its staff), I know that sounds ridiculous, but it was so hot the children just couldn't sleep (it was 54-59 degrees most days), so I would highly recommend (if you stay in July / Aug and have young children) to take an electric fan with you or try and purchase one while you're there. Once we'd got hold of one the following day it was plain sailing from then on.
We ate at the hotel a couple of times and found the prices pretty reasonable compared with the rest of Gumbet, and the staff really are the friendliest I have ever come across in any country.
Both the pools at the hotel were beautiful and well maintained, as were all the grounds. The staff were amazing, not just with the young single women there on girly holidays, but with the children too. One member of staff even helped teach my 4 yr old to learn to swim. They also try and get games of water polo going and get the children playing together. There are small splash pools for wee ones too which my kids loved playing in when not tiring us out in the main pools.
The top pool bar is much quieter on the evenings, whereas the bottom bar is very lively and often has special events such as a fire-eater, russian dancers, turkish night, belly dancers and so on. The do pints of the local lager (Efes...like a very wheaty pilsner and delicious) for 4Lira I think it was, and many many many cocktails and other drinks including kids alcohol free cocktails, but again many places are cheaper and if you fancy a quiet night but still want a drink, the shop just down the road from the hotel by the Calypso Cafe sell cans of Efes for 2.75 Lira as opposed to the hotel shop which sells them for 4 Lira.
The Turkish Bath onsite I'm told is more expensive than others on the resort, but to be honest I'd have paid twice what I did for the experience. It was absolutely amazing and I urge everyone to try one while they are there, you will not regret it.
General tips would be;
1. The apartment keys come with an activation key for the electric in the apartment, so obviously the electric (and air conditioning) will only be on whilst you are in the apartment. If you want to keep the bedroom cool for your return, simply take the activation key off the keyring and leave it in the slot when you go out.
2. The maid WILL come in, so if you don't want her to see anything she shouldn't, then either don't be in the apartment, or answer the door quickly when she knocks. My children were snoozing one afternoon after tiring themself out in the pool all morning, my husband was in the shower so I decided to indulge in a little topless sunbathing on the balcony (which nobody could see by the way- another plus of the place is you feel very contained and have privacy). I heard the door knock but didn't want to yell out in case I woke the children, I was just fastening my bikini top back up and heading towards the door when the maid walked in...so you have been warned!!! :-)
3. Don't stop and talk to the people that try and give you 'free' friendship bracelets or roses on the beach path along the bay to the town centre from the hotel. Yes they are giving you them for free, but then ask you for a tip and get fairly aggressive about it. Luckily we saw this happen to someone else so knew to just say 'No thanks' as soon as they came near us!
4. Bartering; this is key. You very rarely pay the price you see in Gumbet, and they expect you to haggle. A prime example is the handbag shops, I was looking around on my last day for a bag but only had around 30 Lira left, I was told a purple bag I had my eye on was 90 Lira...I said 'I don't have enough sorry' and kept saying it and kept saying it...eventually was told I could have it for 20 Lira...less than a quarter of the original price. So always barter with them. This goes too for restaurants, they will try and call you in and offer you all sorts...I think during our whole stay the most expensive meal for all 4 of us was 86 Lira which works out to about £39. Thats including desserts for the kids and beer for us. Most places will let the kids eat for free and lots will give the grown ups free garlic bread or do set meals with starter, main, dessert and bottle of wine for 25 Lira.
5. Trips; try not to book through your rep, they will charge above and beyond for trips when there are Excursion Shops all up and down Bar Street (which is exactly as it sounds LOL). If you have chance to go on a boat trip, then do so, you will NOT be disappointed.
6. The beach is literally over the road from the hotel, as in, walk down path from hotel reception, cross the road, step onto sand. The water is warm and clear and the hotel keep their section of beach spotless, much cleaner than some other sections we saw.
Pros would be the hotel and staff; the place is just stunning and the staff are amazingly friendly and will do their best to help in any way they can. The hotel itself is close to shops, just a 10 minute walk along the beach path to restaurants and bars, and the bus (dolmus) stops right outside, and the taxi rank is just across the street and along slightly. The resort of Gumbet itself is beautiful, excellent amenities, plenty of chemists and grocery stores for all your self-catering needs and any medical issues you may have (my youngest daughter developed an eye infection on our first day and just 3 days of eye drops from the chemist sorted it right out).
Cons would be the conmen that patrol the beach path at night, and the prices charged in the hotel shop which seem to also vary from day to day in a very dubious fashion. But both these are easily remedied- just ignore the conmen and only shop and the store in the hotel next door (which is accessible from by the Siesta's steps) or better yet the shop just a few minutes along the road.
**Bodrum airport is shockingly expensive, so when you go there for your flight home pack any snacks or drinks in your hand luggage. 1 can of diet coke and 1 bottle of mineral water cost 18 Lira at the airport, which is approx £8.20!!!!**
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this resort and specifically this hotel to anyone. This was our first foreign holiday as a family since we have had the children and aside from the minor glitches mentioned above (conmen, expensive hotel shop and flashing the maid!) it was absolute bliss and couldn't have been more perfect, our children even cried on the coach to the airport as they didn't want to leave. We shall most definitely go back.
