We booked this hotel only a few weeks before we intended to travel and upon arrival it did look the same as in the brochure which was good. This year it was advertised as an 'adults only' hotel so we went along with our 17 year daughter and 21 year old son for a weeks... more

I have never written a holiday review before but felt I had to defend the bad reviews this hotel has received so far since its reopening in May of this year. The hotel will be the first to admit they encountered teething problems to begin with but this hotel is striving to... more

We have just returned from our week at this hotel. We were a family of four, we had two rooms as our boys are age 18 and 19. Both rooms were large and spacious and had a fridge in the room. Each room had a balcony, our room caught the evening sun which was a bonus. The boys... more

Psalidi
Just spent a week in the Oceanis Beach Resort at Psalidi (first week in July). The hotel was excellent, and quite reasonably priced, especially considering it was a top hotel. The hotel itself has 1 fresh water and 3 salt water pools, plus its own beach area. The beach is more shingle/pebble than sand and shoes are a good idea, although we coped quite well without. However we bought some beach shoes for our daughter who found them much easier for running in and out of the water. The staff were wonderfully friendly, especially with our daughter, and we got to know several of them. The Mini Club was great for children, with things to do in the day and half an hour of dancing in the evening. Although it was possible to hear the later evening entertainment from our room, it wasn't so bad as to be a problem, and only lasted from 9.30-11pm. There was a night club, but we never heard it! Psalidi is to the east of Kos Town, and generally had a brisk breeze blowing at all times. This was probably the worst part and can make it feel a little cold when you get out of the water. Food was generally good to excellent. Breakfast was a massive buffet and we found that we gorged on that and missed lunch :-) The Pool Bar and Creperie were also great, although we were not so keen on the Pool Restaurant - food came very fast, but was obviously pre-cooked. If you're in one of the Psalidi hotels, it's worth walking out onto the main road and crossing to the nearby tavernas. Try the one between the Budget rent-a-car office and the Go-Karts - and say Princess Anastasia sent you! (That's what they called our daughter). Superb and extremely friendly service, excellent food and good recommendations. The hotel has all the usual contacts for car hire and tours. We did 2 tours with Tigkaki Tours, which were great. The 3 island tour is lovely (although the boat feels a bit crowded!) and you get a nice vist to nearby islands, time to swim and a BBQ... (kebab and salad, don't expect a massive BQ as it's cooked on board the boat for a lot of people!!) But the swimming in the deeper water while they cooked was very welcome, and the subsequent visit to a shallow sandy beach is a great finish. The second tour was to Nyssaros, where you get to walk into the volcano!! Be warned, between the volcano and the sun, plus being below the level of the breeze, it';s a VERY hot walk down, and you need to take some reasonable shoes. They say 'rugged', but any are ok. It's really just that you walk down a rocky/gravelly slope so not really suitable for flip-flops!!
The Oceanis was paradise
We stayed for a week in May at the Oceanis. It really was paradise. From The wonderful pools to the cleanliness of everything to the friendliness of everyone working there. The atmosphere was so charming. The entertainment director and his helper were so good at making everyone feel welcome and were great at getting people to know each other with the many things to do such as mini golf, darts, evening entertainment etc. The resort is far enough away from town to be quiet but close enough to hop a bus or taxi and get to town within l5 minutes. This resort has the warmth of "old wood" and beautiful furniture but is up to date with internet. The breakfast buffet is great either eating it in the dining room or out doors on the patio watching the ships go by. I would recommend the Oceanis to anyone going to Kos.
Excellent service and great location
We stayed at the begining of May. The Hotel had just re-opened for the season. We had read a range of reveiws about the hotel some good some not so good. but.... We could not fault the hotel in any way. the rooms were clean and fresh, the food was excellent, and the service was the best, very personal, made you feel like you were the only one staying there. If we ever go back to Kos, that is where we will be staying. There was a good mix of nationalities staying, mainly german, some dutch, and i think only one other english couple. Which was nice. If you are looking for English beer, fish and chips, go else where, but if you want to relax, enjoy good local food, wine, beer and service, at very good prices, then this Hotel is for you.
Want to come back...Marina i Sasa-Croatia
We went to this hotel on our honeymoon, and we were very satisfied. It has beautiful pools, beach, and the staff is very friendly. Hotel and its surounding look amazing, and it has a great position (5 minutes by bus to Kos town - 1€). One thing that we can complain on are the old rooms which have not been renovated for a long time so they are a bit smelly and unpleasent. Howewer,we got used to it and we lowed every day of our staying in Oceanis hotel.
A great hotel
Stayed at the hotel Oceanis for 2 weeks in August. Staff very friendly, hotel very nice. Rooms were well kept and cleaned daily. Swimming Pools and restaurants really nice. Would recommend to families and couples alike. Would definately return again. Don't forget to try out Surf bar facing the sea and Big Blue Surf Club.
Good
Stayed 4 nights at this hotel resort. Approx 10 miunutes by bus to Kos town, bus stop is at front of the hotel. Hotel has spacious lounge and entertainment areas, good size pools and lovely lawned area leading to the beach. There were plenty of sun lounges and service was generally good. Rooms vary in size, doubles are average size so try for a family room a lot larger and worth the enquiry. No air condtioning before the 15th June so rooms can get hot, even the air con fan system would not work, but we managed to get a stand alone fan which cooled the room down. All in all we found the hotel ok and would return but would make sure we got a good sized room overlooking the sea and fan supplied if no air con. Hotel is rated 4 star but we would give it a good 3 star rating as no air con and size of double rooms. 7.5 out of 10.
Not bad!
The hotel is placed 5 km from the Kos town, which is easy accesible by a bus operating until midnight. The hotel is placed 50 meters from a street which is sometimes a bit noisy. + sides: The beach is calm and clean, and the two outdoor swimming pools as well, there are always free sunbeds etc (actually, I was there out of season, I do not know how is it during the july/avgust). The hall is nice, and the restaurant as well. The breakfast was OK (I had no other meals). The flowers are everywhere, the palm trees etc - sides: The room is awful, but for somebody who spends his day outdoor, it is not a problem. I would come there again! Mika, Lausanne
really nice place
when i looked on the internet site i saw brightly decorated rooms, beautiful pools and wonderful views. Well 3 out of 2 isnt bad, the rooms must be in the process of being decorated. Our room was a bit dull in comparison to the pictures on the sites i looked on, however, they were ok and very clean and spacious and the maid cleaned and tidied every day. the beds are the most comfortable beds ive ever slept in, on a par with my bed at home, the only diffrence was i didnt have to make it. The resort is very big and has a lot of stairs, it does have lifts but even so once you find them theirs usually more stairs before you get to were you want to go. The pools are great well kept and modern, a bit cold but thats what you want after a long greek sunny day and you cannot resist the swim up to bar great!!. We stayed on bed and breakfast no complaints on the breakfast a very varied range of food avalible, from bacon and eggs to water melon or yogart. For our other meals the restaurant was great but if you just want a snack your a bit stuck really. There is a mini market but its not well stocked. We didnt see much off the entertainment but what we did see wasnt very impressive. The location is ok a little out of the way to walk any were but a local bus stops right outside the hotel and takes 5 minutes to get into kos town or you can hire a bike. over all a very nice hotel with freindly staff we enjoyed our stay and would reccomend it for a quite relaxed holiday.
Better than we thought!
We read the last review of the hotel, and it is fair to say, that the hotel is showing its age. We were not too sure when we were shown our room, dark, but not too bad. When we first arrived, there were not many people stopping there (is that a good or bad sign?) but as we were stopping for a week, it did fill up each day. Mainly popular with German and Belgium people, staff were nice and sorted any problems out. Air conditioning not on until end of May, even when we said it was hot in the rooms, so had to leave the balcony door open. Beds and pillows very comfortable. Breakfast was fine, you can sit on a balcony overlooking the beach. Setting is very good, right next to the beach, you can go on the sun beds next to the pool or by the sea. Tried various restaurants nearby, Simos was home cooking (moussaka very nice his wife makes it), Nickos and Contessa tried too hard, Spiros further down near the Kipriotis Village very good for fresh sardines. Overall good value for money.
Rather pleasant hotel
This is a rather pleasant hotel but located in a somewhat isolated area (Psalidi) about 5 km from Kos City. Some rooms have been renovated but they are still not up to four star standards. The hotel shows its'age: cracks in the walls and in the floors, old-fashioned small bathrooms, stinking elevators etc... As of October 1 they turn off the A/C although the outside temperature exceeded 27° C during the day. This is not acceptable for a four star hotel. The staff are friendly; the (very fatty) food is so and so and we never had fish nor lamb in the whole week. Many (smoking) German tourists. This hotel is a far cry from the Dionysos in Ixia (Rhodes) owned by the same company. The latter is definitely worth its' four stars.
