Jun 2008, Mrs C Leonard

I was extremely disappointed with this hotel. The food was inedible, we had to eat out everyday even though we had paid for all inclusive. The pool bar never opened on time, free ice cream was never available and the entertainment was extremely poor. Staff miserable. Whole hotel needed a good clean & certainly needed updating/refurbishment. Most people we spoke to on our break agreed with me.
I would never go to this hotel again, and would certainly not recommend it.

May 2008, AskCy

This was our second visit to this hotel as we liked the central location within Pernera (which is about a 15-30 minute walk from Protaras). The hotel provides all the basic needs you would normally require (bed, bathroom, bar, pool etc) and was cleaned often and the staff friendly. Unfortunately we never actually ate in the hotels own restaurant as we were too busy going out exploring everywhere else (from what we could see in passing it all looked good). During August/September there was enough space around the pool and none of this getting up at 5am to put towels out ! In house entertainment provided by Thomsons was the usual holiday stuff aimed at the children and adults alike (if you want the Opera or similar this is not what you're getting) with plenty going on during the day and in the evenings. We enjoyed both stays here and its on our options list for going again this years.

Nov 2007, Mr D Worth

My partner, my four year old and myself enjoyed a lovely two weeks at the Elamaris in October 2007.
We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the rooms and maid service every day with the changing of all bed sheets and bins etc.
The food choice was very good at all times in the restaurant, the staff were all very friendly especially Eva and the rest of the girls and also Elias who actually wanted to see snow!
The pool area and water were always very clean and the Bar was always handy at poolside.
The Thompson Entertainment could get a bit of a drag, especially songs from the eighties which toddlers didn’t have a clue who they were singing about! The upside of the entertainment was Paul Tomas the Magician who was brilliant.
The only dislike we had was the building work going off behind the hotel which was opposite our balcony. We were getting clanking at 7am onwards and Saturdays, but at the end of the day the work will be finished for 2008, so it wouldn’t affect anything for anybody else next year.
We enjoyed our stay that much we have already re-booked Elamaris for three weeks in 2008 so that is testament to the Hotel and Cyprus which we love anyway.

Arrived on the red eye flight which...

Nov 2007, Mr B Knight

Arrived on the red eye flight which was delayed by about 1 hr, and then it took one hour to get through the baggage; quite poor as we were the only flight. The seat pitch of 28" is incredibly uncomfortable if you are more than 5" 8' so being 6" 2' pain killers were needed.
Hotel was in a very good position, rooms very clean and comfortable. The daytime entertainment was very good and Boogie Baz tried to get everyone involved. Evening entertainment started at 20:30 and went on until 12:00 and whilst being slightly repetitive was quite good. The volume however was far too loud and for a super family resort started far too late, had to shut the windows and turn the air con on to try and drown out the noise.
Cyprus itself is basically just an open air rubbish tip (applies to both the north and the south), and is very commercialised however, if you want the temperatures in October choice is limited.

We decided to choose a super family...
7 / 10
Oct 2007, Mrs E.L.

We decided to choose a super family hotel because of our 2 small children. We stayed in an apartment unfortunately and to our surprise overlooking a building site.
This wasn't mentioned when we booked the holiday. However, thanks to spending most of the time outside it wasn't such a big deal at the end. The Thomson reps (especially the entertainer Bazz) and also the hotel staff were very friendly. Despite of our apartment being cleaned every day it still remained quite dirty. The kitchen was very well equipped.
There are 2 swimming pools of a sufficient size but again I have to mention that the cleanliness wasn't up to the standard. The hotel has a good playground and lots of activities for children.
The closest beach (around 500 m)is small but very pretty. We also visited one of the most beautiful beaches in Cyprus in Fig tree Bay (about 5 mins in a taxi) which was much bigger(and again quite dirty) but not as pretty as the one near our hotel.
If you like to be in a centre of a busy holiday life with lots of bars and restaurants nearby this place probably wouldn't suit you. There are couple of good restaurants and bars but nothing too exciting. Most of the restaurants are child friendly, equipped with climbing frames, bouncy castles etc. Our children loved it!!
In overall, the holiday was quite ok (probably wouldn't stay there another week unless in different part of Cyprus) and the major problem was the untidiness of the place with litter scattered everywhere.

We arrived home from Elamaris hotel...
8 / 10
Oct 2007, Miss S Wiley

We arrived home from Elamaris hotel yesterday. We had a fantastic holiday, me and my partner took our 3 children (8, 2 and 5) and it was ideal. A short walk from our hotel is the beach at Penera Bay, which is lovely. The sea is safe and the beach is lovely and clean, they had many hours playing there.
The buses which are caught just outside the windmill restaurant, was for us a god send- 80 cent each wherever you go and we did use them. We went to Nissi Beach in Ayia Napa (don't be fooled about Ayia Napa, it isn't all partying there was lots of older couples there too I hardly saw any gangs although they were prob recovering from the night before). Protaras (which you can walk to approx 30 mins at a steady pace and with 3 small children in 90+ heat, not the ideal path for a buggy though) and Paralimini which I loved. No beach there but lots of lovely shops - which Penera Bay is missing. There is hardly anything for you to spend your money on here, we spent ours on food and water.
As for our room- we had to pay for 2 rooms as my youngest (she’s 2) was too old for the cot space. When we arrived we were amazed at how big the room was compared to what we have previously stayed in. It can easily sleep 4 adults, so the other room was never used, bit of a shame really. The rooms are a little dated but are very clean. The cleaner we had was fantastic, she works hard, that hard I made sure we didn't make mess for her.
Room was cleaned 5 times in a week fresh linen and towels every time.
The pool was fine although we didn't use it until after 5pm because it was used for the games (my kids didn't want to join in with them). Entertainment, well I agree with the person that said it compares with x factor, absolute rubbish! It was very loud and very clicky. Went on until early hours, we were on the lower ground near the stage, well you can imagine what was going round my mind, when they were belting out "my heart must go on'. We didn't have anything to do with the rep or the children’s entertainers. Although they were around if we needed them for anything.
We ate out every meal and had some lovely food. We tried to get into Knights for our tea several times but it was always jam-packed. On our last night we got a seat, I can now see what the fuss was about, doesn’t look much but the food was fab!
Windmill was ok, but on a couple occasions they didn't have what we wanted to eat, and were very slow when they were busy (I know I know, they were busy- but when you are starving).
We also went to pizza hut too, lovely guy served us he was great with the kids.
We went on the Dolphin yellow boat from Protaras, cost us 5cy each and it was a lovely morning, the guys are lovely.
I would definitely go back to Elamaris and would highly recommend it. Cyprus is a lovely place, lovely people and gorgeous weather.

Sep 2007, Mr P Taylor

My wife and I booked a very last minute break with Thompson and we were ‘Allocation on Arrival’ in Cyprus. Always a bit of trepidation because you never know what you'll get.
The Elamaris was a pleasant surprise. As mentioned, a bit dated but with all the amenities you could need. My only criticism of the hotel would be the poolside bar - too dark - and the cronyism displayed by Boogie Baz and his entourage to any little clique that were interested in his games. (Why does he insist on closing the pool so that the cronies can use it exclusively for their water polo when there are countless others who just want to relax?)
Pernera is a bit of a one horse town but some of the restaurants were very good, especially Sizzlers. Never fancied Knights Pub much and only went in there on our last day. What a fool, food was superb.
You've got to see the Freddie Mercury tribute at the Windmill. When he took his jacket off he was a dead ringer for Bobby Ball. He did have a couple of really pretty dancers though. Wouldn't mind them as bookends!
Beaches are great but sometimes it's difficult to get sunbeds etc.
Tried the local car hire. Bit of a rip-off with regards to petrol but the car was ok and at least it got us out and about.

Cyprus was beautiful, water out of...

Sep 2007, Mrs E Quinn

Cyprus was beautiful, water out of this world. Must do the yellow boat trip, only £10 per person for about 4 hours on the boat, fed and drinks, stopped off to go swimming in the water, everything supplied, and Andreas and Laura brilliant with everyone!
Pernera Bay were we were staying was nice and clean and great for small kids as the water is very shallow.
Not a great deal in Pernera only a small town, more in Protaras itself on further on in Ayia Napa. Only 80cents on the bus. Our hotel was clean and the studios were very large and spacious. No happy hour 2 for 1 only reduce price of drinks on local spirits.
Prices of drinks also went up part way thru the week while we were there! Entertainment was terrible, kids disco etc still on at 11.30 at night, and live acts well I’ve seen better on the X factor. Best restaurant was sizzlers , excellent ! Knight’s bar was great for breakfast .

Lovely holiday largely due to the...

Aug 2007, Mrs Am Koumoullos

Lovely holiday largely due to the fact we spent quality time together. Marred only by my 11yr old cutting foot badly on tiles in pool. Reception not interested, despite my pointing out risk of infection or someone suing etc.
Also car hire arranged via holiday firm poor. No booster seat either time despite paying extra, second car flooded air con which left us with a puddle round our feet 1/2 way up a mountain!!
Emergency number contacted not interested very poor need to review contract with firm especially as they warn re downfalls of other companies.
Lovely resort, great weather, reps very entertaining but talk to you if you are over 40!!
My kids refused to go in kids club which didn't go down well with child reps, but we had not realised it was a Super family for some reason.
Our cleaner was brilliant, apartment dated but comfortable and air con and shower worked which wasn't case for everyone.
Good holiday but due mainly to our effort.

Jul 2007, Mr Mw Michael

The place was amazing and now I’m back I really miss it, all the people who didn’t not like it are the posh ones who want everything perfect, its was only 4 pound to protarus and 12 to Ayai Napa which are great nights out especially for the young ones.
I recommend the castle club, there are also great pubs such as the fools and horses bar witch is about a ten minute walk away, they have great meals, the staff are great and also play only fools and horses 24-7.
The entertainment was great (they never stop) and get round to see everyone, the weather was hot (very) but the refreshing pools was amazing and that’s all I can really say but while you are there enjoy it to the fullest and for the young ones party on!!

What can I say about this holiday...?...

Jul 2007, Mr G Jones

What can I say about this holiday...? Except my Wife, Kids and I loved it.
We were kept entertained at all times. Yes the rooms are dated and it’s out of the way, but it’s a Super family Holiday.
We’ve been there 3 times now and if Thomson were there next year it would be our family's 1st choice again.
We all loved the Reps and we won every prize they had.
Highly Recommended.
