We arrived at the hotel and in all fairness the apartment was clean and tidy we discovered ants in the Kitchen my husband went to reception and they gave him a tin of spray this worked!
The food at this hotel is the worst I have ever tasted everything was cold nothing looked very appetising and the flies and the cats just topped it off.
I would say that in general the apartment was kept clean although I was glad I never had children as the balcony railing was loose, staff where miserable and very unwilling to help.
Entertainment was really a joke but the two girls worked very hard to get things going.
I would neither recommend or ever stay here again very disappointing.

After reading previous comments about the Crown Resorts I felt that I had made a mistake by booking this hotel as my husband and I have visited Pernera, Cyprus several times and this hotel always seemed lively and busy so that is why we booked it. Incidentally our fears were confirmed the hotel is very dated but I must say our room was very clean the reception staff were OK and gave us all the information and assistance we needed. However the food wasn't very nice my husbands a bit of a foodie and this really bothered him he felt that the food wasn't edible he pointed out that the fish we had a second day in a row was reheated from the previous day and I had to agree with him. So we never had breakfast and ate out in an evening 4 out of the 7 nights we had paid for. I can now see why people that went all inclusive have given this hotel a bad report I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone and believe me I am not a "difficult" to please person in anyway and I made the best of the holiday but I have to say 3 or 4 star this hotel is definitely not I have been in both in Cyprus and this hotel doesn't measure up in anyway. I also have to mention the pool situation we went down at 10.00am on our first morning and there wasn't a bed free it were mostly taken up by towels and I noticed that people were leaving them on before breakfast say 8.00/8.30am and not returning to them until 10.30-11.00am how ridiculous I must say if it wasn't for the beach I would have spent most of my holiday on my balcony as I did that day. I also would like to point out around the hotel there were a lot of safety issues and hazards for example the "safety rails" not very safe and actually came apart when you put your hand on them and one morning outside our buildings main entrance there were a broken bottle that had been there from the previous night and hadn't been moved (even though there were maids cleaning the area round it !!) surely that should have been a priority? Overall The location is great Cyprus is a beautiful island and I hope this hotel will not influence people to not come back to Cyprus as the island has so much better hotels and lots to offer .

We have just returned from a 10 day stay at the Elamaris hotel, and after reading the reviews on here we were quite nervous as to what to expect, but it was not half as bad as some people made out. I can understand people who pay for all inclusive being dissapointed as the restaurant seemed small and basic, but this does not seem the type of hotel to pay for all inclusive anyway.
The staff were all friendly, the maids in paticular always said hello. At one point during our stay I had to visit the hospital and the reception staff were very kind and helpful, getting a taxi to come to the entrance to pick us up within 5 minutes. The hotel has a large pool with plenty of sunbeds, and a small childrens pool. The hotel itself is clean if a little old fashioned, it could do with updating the decor, but as we did not spend much time in our rooms this was not a probem for us.
The surrounding area of Penera is quiet but well equipped, and a more relaxed alternative to nearby Protaras. There are reguar buses to Protaras (every 20 mins in morning, hourly at night)right outside the hotel, and a taxi rank on the doorstep, with taxis to Protaras centre costing 8 euros.
One complaint we did have with the hotel is the noise level. we were woken up most mornings by the maids and other guests making noise in the hallway, but as we are late sleepers this bothered us mroe than it may others. The pool area was sometimes quite noisy with uilding work going on nearby so banging could be heard.
all in all this hotel was better than we expected, and we would recommend it to others for a relaxed stay.

we booked the elamaris all inclusive for 2 adults and 1 child payed up in full £1,945 for 2 weeks then looked at the reviews, first thoughts were"OH DEAR" what have we let ourselves in for.we arrived at the resort got our key and went to the room, could do with a makeover but be truthfull how much time do we spend in a room on holiday, the room was cleaned everyday apart from sunday(everyone deserves a day off) the room cleaners were very friendly and very helpfull and always had a smile on their faces.pool area was cleaned everday pool was vacumed and poolside washed down with hosepipe, service at poolside bar was good a smile wouldnt go a miss now and again, very helpfull at reception, food was not bad the people who moan that it was CHIPS CHIPS CHIPS should open their eyes as there was a good selection of healthy food available.the entetainment team of gina and milly did a great job with limited resources.overall it was a great holiday but some people spend £2000 and think they have spent the earth they should go the CONSTANTINOS THE GREAT if they want perfection but they would be paying double what they payed at the ELAMARIS.i think some people go on holiday just to moan when they get back these people should go to rhyl or blackpool next year then they would have reason to moan

just returned from a 11 night stay at the elamaris hotel , and must say i enjoyed my time here.
I can understand people complaining about this hotel if they have paid for all inclusive , but we booked independently and decided to just go bed and breakfast as we like to go out and about at night.I would not have liked to have been tied to the hotel as you are if you have done AI .We came back early from a night out a couple of times, as my son wanted to meet his friends, but the night time entertainment was absolutley terrible.
The room at the hotel which we got was pretty basic but clean and fairly spacious so we didn't have anything to complain about , and they came to clean the room everyday apart from Sunday. We spoke to a couple on one of our first days here and they had booked another hotel because of the state of their room so maybe it's potluck , but there are two different accomodation blocks and i think they were staying in the one away from where the reception is - so maybe try and avoid staying in that one.
The resort itself is Penera and not Protaras but we were aware of this before we went due to reading other reviews. The walk into Protaras take approx 25/30 mins and is not so bad just come straight out the hotel and a road goes of slightlty to the left uphill , follow this until you have to turn left or right - turn left and this brings you to Protaras.I was suprised at how big the centre of Protaras is , the main stretch of bars and restaurants goes on for quite a long distance. We had some lovley meals in the centre but unfortunatley i can't remember what the names of them are.A taxi back to the hotel cost's about 8 euro's but with the tip is 10.
The resort of Pernera is quite small and could do with a few more bars , windmills bar is good for watching the football and round the corner is a bar called the ranch who have a singer on every night.Over the road from the hotel is a bar called Knights which we ate in and the food was very nice. The resort has 4 different beaches dotted about which are very nice but the main one gets busy and you need to get there early to get a couple of sunbeds. Also there is a little harbour where you go to catch the boats for the cruises.
We also had a couple of nights out to Ayia Napa , we caught the bus at about 7pm and it takes about 30 mins and only costs 1.50 euro each which is good value , the taxi back is 20 euro.

I have just spent a 2 week all inclusive holiday in this hotel and I would never go back I wouldn't even recommend it to my worst enemy!!!
Our bed linen never got changed in the whole two weeks it took up to 3 days to get clean towels and that was only because I went down to reception to complain. The food was disgusting I would't feed it to a dead animal!! The snacks where the same if you campared the paying customers to all inclusive it was disgusting the quality of food for all inclusive customers was a joke, being all inclusive and half board you should get the same food the only difference is all inclusive customers have paid up frontso why should they get the crap thats left over!!! The bar staff where ok I didn't find them rude.
The room was big but not great for what we paid!! The lifts never worked which is a pain if your on the 3rd floor especially on your last day when you have to carry your suitcases down a few flights of stairs. Entertainment was very bad although the entertainment team did try, but very repeatative. Windmill cocktail bar next door to the hotel was probably the best thing for entertainment and night life.
This hotel was poor and from what I read when I booked it not what I expected.

As a first holiday for me and my boyfriend we picked cyprus and this hotel, we were a bit wary about the mixed reviews we had about the hotel. but when we got there the place was excellent, my only thing was the showers but for a country who has to import water from other countries i can not complain, pool, bar, restaurant was amazing, hotel rooms were spacious, people complained the rooms were out dated, who cares, stop complaining its a hotel not the plaza, it had everything we needed, if you didn't like the food that was on offer for that day there was plently of cheap food outlets 3 mins walk from the hotel, hotel staff were pleasent, 5 mins from beach plently of buses and taxis and buggie and mopeds you can rent if you have a provisional liscence, loved this place, loved this hotel and would go back again and again :) people need to stop complaining and just start enjoying, i can't believe people complained the bar was too dark, that just made me and my bf laugh, if your out for fun and not a nit-picker this is the place for you

We checked in to a unhelpful receptionist, eventually got our keys and went to our rooms to find mould and damp on the ceilings and stains all over the bed linen. From there we left to find another hotel but unfortunately we had to spend one night here and we found it had to atmosphere, the staff were unhelpful and miserable, the kids entertainment shocking (she said if your parents dont get up and dance with you they dont love you!!) The food was awful, the drinks were awful. I would certainly not recommend this hotel to anyone. It was like a run down youth hostel.

Just returned from all inclusive stay at Elamaris,I have been to Cyprus three times before but have never stayed in a hotel this bad.
The food was awful, the restaurant was outside and the food was never properly covered resulting in always having flies everywhere!! Not to mention the wildlife (i.e stray cats and birds). The restaurant was small in size compared to the amount of people using it and so you were lucky to get a seat and if you went too early to try and get one, the food wasn't even prepared or arranged for serving. You choose, sit and wait for the staff to be bothered to prepare the meals or wander round with our plate of already luke warm food looking for a seat!!!! Therefore we ended up eating out nearly every meal time, costing extra money!!!!!
Very few of the bar staff could be bothered serving you if you weren't paying cash, even if you did tip them!! Resulting in you standing at the bar for up to half an hour at a time, either being completely ignored or having filthy looks thrown your way. When you were eventually served, the staff were unable to understand a word you said, although english and many other nationality who paid cash were clearly understood. Apartly they don't understand all inclusive guests, regardless of nationality or dialect!!!!
The entertainment was brillant if you were a child, who enjoyed a mini disco, bingo and karoke, this is what we had every night for the whole first week!!! However the second week we were treated to very mediocar shows, both weeks we mostly went else where for entertainment.
Although the maids were polite and worked hard to keep the rooms clean, the amount of ants in our room made this job difficult!! This was due to the poor air conditioning, which only slightly cooled the room but cut off every time the balcony door was opened. Our toilet cistern had a bad leak and although we reported it, it was never properly fixed, resulting in our bathroom having it's own pool!!!!!!
I wouldn't recommend this hotel to my worst enemy, although cyprus is a lovely place and i would return there for a holiday,it would definately not be in the Elamaris not even if they were PAYING ME!!!!!!

I have just come back from my two week stay at the crown resort elmaris. The hotel was excellent, the room was spacious and cleaned every two days. But i did feel sorry for the people who were staying at the same resort that had payed 2000 plus for this holiday.
Me and my girlfriend payed 350 each and we couldnt have asked for a better deal.
Definatley visit the Windmills Bar, very nice people and nice cocktails

In addittion to my previous review I would like to add a few more points. As after reading the review from Mr Houghton where he has made a few remarks about my review. I feel peope have different standards of living because by no means am I stuck up, but I do know the difference between nice food and badly basic food, and for £3,000 I dont expect to be served raw food, on my 3rd day I ordered chicken nuggetts and chips for my daughter and when she bit into the nuggett it was very badly under coooked it was pink andd jellified, Mr Houghton the reason why my children ate from the snack menu was because they absolutely hated the breakfast, so they waited for the snack menu which started at 10.30 and just to clarify things chips were served constant through out. I must have spoke to at least 8 other families who were also annoyed about the standard of food.
On the last few days of my holiday whilst sitting around the pool, there was a dead bird. I immediatey made the hotel staff aware of this and all they done was pick the dead bird up and place into the poolside bins now i dont exactly think in 38 degrees heat that is the wisest thing to do. SO THAT IS THE KIND OF STANDARD YOU SHOULD EXPECT.

Just returned from ten day stay at the Elamaris.
Overall a lovely holiday - apartment very clean, clean towels and bedding on regular basis. We only had bed and breakfast which was lovely plenty of choice although the all inclusive guests we spoke to werent impressed totally with the food. Because we went so late in the season we had no problems with the sun beds round the pool - we were one of the last to be in the hotel when it closed at the end of October. My two teenage boys enjoyed it plenty for them to do - tennis court, gym, table tennis, pool - entertainment provided included water polo, killer pool, killer darts etc. We didn't actually see any of the evening entertainment but they had a varied selection advertised every day including disco for the young children, bingo, karaoke, dance show etc
The staff were very friendly and the couple of times I had to visit reception i was dealt with in a friendly and efficient way and any problems dealt with immediately - though nothing very major!
Would definitely go back again - in fact already been looking for prices for next year but probably go a little bit earlier than we did this time
