Me and my boyfriend stayed here for the first week of November '08.
We really enjoyed ourselves, lovely big spacious hotel. Our room was very comfortable and had plenty of space. The balcony however was tiny and we didn't use ours, could barely fit more then one person out there! The food was lovely and had plenty of variety. The pools were lovely, however seemed to be quite cold, including the indoor pool and spa. We only had one problem whilst we were there, this being that one of the male recepption staff came into our room at 5am one morning to see if the room was empty, to check in some new people, which we obviously were not happy about! However the manager was very helpful and assured us it would not happen again. We really enjoyed it here, within easy reach of Coral Bay and Paphos (by short bus ride) and would definately return here and recommend it to friends.

Be aware and dont book with uktravel shop or youtravel !!!!!!
We were conned big time and Trading Standards are taking up our case. We booked and paid AI but when the travel docs came it said AI light.I had never heard of this but found out it isnt worth having. After 35 calls to thier call centre they agreed to upgrade us at their cost to AI(what we had paid for as per the web page)However when we arrived they hadnt done anything of the sort and we had to pay another 125 Euros on arrival. The receptionist told us it had been happening all summer with peoople crying in reception when they found out they had been had.She told us the hotel wont be dealing with them next year. It was no cheaper than if we had booked through T. Cook or Thomsons so dont book on-line with these companies. You have been warned !!
We stayed here for a week in October and it was fabulous. The hotel is beautifull and the food was everything we wanted. I had read a couple of reviews before I went and understand that everyone has different tastes but I couldnt find anything to fault the food.
The room was lovely and cleaned daily.
The receptionist had only been there a couple of months and couldnt do enough for us when we arrived to find out we had been duped. The staff arent chatty but neither did we experience any rude ones. Most of them have limited Englsh anyway.
It was great that men have to wear long trousers and sleeves at night in the restaurant, I dont see a problem with "standards" You can always put shorts back on after dinner if its hot
As it was October it wasnt busy and there were no children either. Loads of sunbeds and room in the lovely pools.
Coral Bay beach was a bit of a let down with loads of litter but we lazed by the pool all week instead.
My only criticism is the hotel is a bit isolated. It is a bus ride to Paphos and the beach is a 10 min walk.
I would recommend it if you are a couple looking for winter sun. It was great

Stayed at Crown Resort with my parents and a group of disabled people and their carers (about 25 of us in all). Not at all impressed, surprised this could be called a four star hotel
Room
Not too bad but beds very hard and towels like grey sand paper. We were lucky as our bathroom had a floor drain so I could shower but a number of wheelchair users were not so fortunate and had to use the spa's shower. Also some of them couldn't use their balconies as there were chairs and sofas pushed right in front of the door which was too small anyway. Grab rails in bathroom but no shower seat, I used a patio chair but others were given a comode when they asked for one. Shocked by hidden 'extras', had to pay for the fridge and safe and tea and coffee after first day. Only one English TV channel, Sky News.
Facilities
Hotel looked better than it actually was, all gloss and no substance. Virtually impossible to get a wheelchair in the public toilets as you had to make a sharp 45 degree turn right inside the door. Swimming pools VERY cold, even inside. We were stuck at the back of the restaurant away from everyone else on tables we could barely get wheelchairs round, made it very hard to get food. We ate out a lot but many of our party could not afford to do this.
Food
Appalling! Little selection and terrible quaility. I had chicken on the first night and when it was cut blood ran out of it, four members of our party had the same. We complained but no-one said sorry or removed the rest of the meat to check it was safe. Lot of the 'hot meals' were cold even under the warming lamps. We didn't even get ice water on our table, the staff looked at us as if we were mad when we asked and brought us a luke warm glass of water each with no ice. That came separate in a pint glass which we had to ask for
Staff
A mixed bag, some good some not so. Very overworked. Restaurant staff very surly and unhelpful, as demorstrated by the chicken episode. Barely smiled and the restaurant manager wandered around doing nothing as far as we could tell. One girl worked two bars and was on all day, we felt very sorry for her. Cocktails were all pre-mixed as the junoir barmen seemed not to know how to make them from scratch, tasted all right but not what you expect. 'Animators' (entertainment staff) worked very hard, first activity at 10.30am and they were still up at gone 11 but were always cheerful and helpful
Overall
A big letdown. Paid a lot for this holiday and didn't feel we got value for money. Would not recommend it to anyone, especially if they had a disability.

Perfect holiday, hotel excellent particularly the staffs friendliness. Good entertainment and very good choice and quality of food. Would certainly reccomend this hotel to others visiting Cyprus. Used a wheelchair and found nothing awkward. Indoor swimming pool and steam room and sauna luxury extras which are free for every guest. Having hairdressers on hand and massage, facials and other beauty treatments available was an option I wouldn't have thought of if not available on site. Sometimes with the all inclusive option the food and drink would not be that fantastic but at the Horizon if was very good. If I had to have one little niggle it would have to be the bath in that it was rather narrow to stand in and shower.

This was our second visit to Coral Bay, having stayed in a villa last year. The resort itself is superb, there are two beaches within about 15 minutes from the main strip. The first coral bay is noisier than Corallia beach and can be dirtier and more expensive, however both are beautiful. The restaurants and bars in the main area are great but can differ depending on what you are looking for, Blazing saddles and Kleos are great for a lively atmosphere and music but for a quieter drink and friendly staff try Zentas at the end of the strip. The Elvis show in the Millenium and the Blues Brothers in Coral Sunset are not to be missed. The price of drinks can vary from bar to bar depending how near to the main strip you are. Peyia is a small village in outside of Coral bay which also has some good bars which are cheaper, although you do need a car to get there. The only issue in the resort itself is the time share touts, although there are not many in the resort they are very clever! They will approach you and make you think that they are offering you vouchers for free sunbeds and umbrellas and then comes the scratchcard telling you that you have won a holiday of a lifetime! I have heard that if you tell them you don't have a credit card they are not interested.
I thought the Hotel was very good, although it worked out expensive if you bought drinks from there and I thought was it worth upgrading to all inclusive for 20.5 euros per person per day from half board when you consider that a round of drinks in some bars was 20 euros for 4 people. This did include cocktails and spirits but local spirits only. However there were people who had booked inclusive which didn't include all of this so you have to check what you are getting when you book. It is worth considering waiting to upgrade when you get there, then you can check the prices yourself and decide if its right for you. There are a few catches in terms of extras, i.e. Tea and coffee is only provided in our room on the first day after that you have to pay. You have to pay for safe in room.
Activities during the day were great. In the evening it was Bingo every night which was fun if you enjoy bingo. In addition there was then night entertainment, which apart from the chinese jugglers was pretty basic and there was no kids entertainment in the evening which was a missed opportunity.
The bar service in the restaurants was painfully slow and you could easly wait 20 minutes or more for a drink, the trick is to order a 2nd drink as they bring up your first!!
Also inclusive finishes at midnight so remember to order a couple of extra rounds if you are a night animal!!
Some of the staff act as if they are doing you are a favor, but the waitress were really friendly.
The pool area was superb although the sunbeds are past their best.
If you get the opportunity to use the Spa it's fantastic I had two really great treatments.
All in all I would definetely go back and am already looking to book for next year.

My Husband and I have just come back from the Crown Horizon and had a fantastic time. The hotel is a good 4 star hotel and is the best located hotel in Coral Bay, it's close to the beach but that isn't the best feature. The strip which contains the shops and bars is a few minutes walk. It's not a huge resort but ideal if you want a good relaxing holiday.
We will certainly go back again but next time will try All Inclusive.

Have just returned from 10 day stay at the Crown Resort hotel in Coral Bay.
Good and bad things to report this time. Having stayed there before we were aware of the great facilities. Lovely pool, quite lawn area where you can sunbathe. Great play area for the kids. Rooms are excellent and the food was its normal excellent standard.
What we found dissappointing this year was the standard of entertainment. The evenings for us are a big part of most peoples holidays and unfortunately this time the 'acts' they had in the evenings were a huge let down. Kareoke for us is often painfull to the ears. OK, so there was a parott show (big deal) and more singers! What ever happened to the acts they used to have last year? We were hoping to see the Magic couple again who were very professional.
Thre Hotels location is great as it is very close to the Coral bay strip, with shops, bars and restaurants.
Overall a nice Hotel but perhaps worth going into Town at night.

The hotel and resort were beautiful and clean.
However, we went with Thompson and our rep never turned up! We were told that they would come later in the week which was bad enough anyway but then they didn't even turn up after that. We made use of the leaflets at reception to plan our days out.
We went 'bed and breakfast' and there was a very large selection of different foods.
Great selection of different restaurants and bars just outside of the resort and the sea is just a ten minute walk, howver, the beaches were not that amazing. The restaurants give you a lot of free bread which can be a bit stale but watch you don't order too much food as the bread will fill you up!
Entertainment in the hotel was more for the older generation but still good with karaoke, hypnatist, professional singer, etc. The hotel also organised other activities in the daytime such as darts, bowls, aerobics etc.
Weather was lovely and hot...just the right temperature.
However, the evenings were very hot and we were told that the air con doesn't get turned on until May 1st, so this wont affect you now! I had to have the balcony door open and was attacked by the mozzies!!! So be careful!
They tend to associate us with Elvis and Tom Jones over there...so there was mostly that music.
I recommend going on the cruise ships, we went on one worth 14 million. It was definately an experience. The sea was quite choppy when I went on it though so you may want to take anti sickness pills!
All in all though, I had a lovely time, so enjoy it!

I visited Cyprus for the first time in March with my family. We stayed at the Crown Horizon Resort in Coral Bay and we loved it!! The hotel was very clean and rooms were wonderful and spacious. staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was great. Entertainment was not bad. Hotel is situated in a great area near the shops and Coral Bay beach is about 10mins walk away. Definitely stay here again!!!!

My husband and i spent a week at this hotel on half board basis,i never usually believe these review sites as everyones tastes are different, well the reviews for this hotel are not incorrect;FOOD;Bland not much variation, don't expect to relax when eating as the staff hover over you to collect plates and cutlery,we visit cyprus twice a year always on half board basis, this is the worst!!!!
We never use the bar facilities as we find you gain more knowledge about the area from the locals in the bars, for the best hospitality you need to go over the road to BLAZING SADDLES,up the road to KIKKOS BAR and MILLENIUM BAR.The worst thing about this holiday was that we read that Coral bay had the best beaches, well, what we found was horrendous,we walked down to the beach and the first thing we encountered was the corpse of a dead dog, further on were hyperdermic needles, the whole beach looked like a landfill site, spoke to a local who stated that at the end of March they dig it up as best as they can and just put fresh sand on, not a good all year round beach!!! we will be returning to cyprus but not to this hotel or area, there are better.
