I want to move to Lassi

This is my 5th time to Lassi for my wife and myself, the 4th time with our daughter who is now 4 and a half. Each year we go back to the Mediterrannee. The girls on reception are lovely and friendly. They will answer all your queries and issues. Sofia who serves our drinks is wonderful and she is always smiling. The hotel is extremely clean with your room cleaned daily. Fresh towels when required and bedding clean. The rooms are now dated and the furnishings are basic. But it is for sleeping and the air conditioning helps with a good nights sleep. The food is ok but plentiful. If you fancy a night out dining at one of the restaurants on the high street or in Agostoli, the hotel offers you your lunch free at the beach restaurant. You need to let the girls on reception know that you require lunch and not dinner before 10am. The food here is excellent and again you can have chicken, fish, melon, sandwiches, etc. There is a 100 metre walk up a slight hill from the hotel to the main road. So if you struggle walking, you might find it a abit to much on a daily basis. The entertainment is virtually nil, which is the only downside to the hotel. Although there is a bar called Aqua Marina half way up the hill. Nico whose bar it is, is a lovely chap and his food is nice. Most of his family work here and there is entertainment every night. The hotel at night is very quiet. It is a hotel mainly for older clientel, very few children. So if you want a peaceful holiday then all day at the pool is ideal. The beach for the hotel is nice and clean, the water is unbeliveable. Very Clean and quite warm. Snorkling is fantastic, plenty of fish to see. The view from the sea view rooms is breathtaking. The weather at the end of June early July is @90 degrees. Plenty of sun. The hotel offers a free safe, free towels for the pool, ironing board, iron and other things you may require.

Not a 4* Hotel!!!!
Reception area was ok. Bedrooms very very basic & worn out looking, rather off putting on arrival. Double bed was not a double it was 3/4 size so just as well had a single bed in the room. A lot of noise from corridor at night as big gap under bedroom door. Window frames & doors very old & in need of replacing. Bedding changed every other day & towels nice & clean. Balcony was rather dirty looking.... floor needed a good scrub.
Food not wonderful but was ok, if you like jelly, ice cream & creme caramel you will be ok. Meat & veg dishes over cooked & tastless. Breakfast was ok.
People have reported it is being upgraded but we saw no signs of this, in 2 weeks we never saw a workman in the hotel.
The island is so beautiful I would love to go back but not to this hotel. Sorry!!

  • Advice: Island beautiful but hotel very sad.

3rd stay in 4 years at the Mediterranee however we will not be venturing there again until it has had a serious upgrade as it is now a 3* at best. The lobby and pool are okay however the rooms are very tired looking now and the carpets on the 1st and 2nd floors are seriously stained. We upgraded to a sea view premier room which had fabulous views over the bay but for 140 euro's extra was just bearable. However the bedding was shabby, the balcony area in need of painting and the room needed a paint.
The food was very repetitive with veal on the menu every night, the salads the same each night and the breakfast the same daily and although we weren't travelling with children I would have struggled to have something to feed them. Also the food appeared to be reformatted into other meals the following day so we avoided some and a lot on offer at the beach bar was hotel leftovers I'm sure. The beach cafe is in need of a revamp to.
Little to do within the realms of the hotel with entertainment on 2 or so nights a week but the pianist was cronic. Local band weren't to bad but not up to much.
Why go there again this year then, I hear you asking - well basically because we love the peace and tranquility of Kefalonia and the guaranteed sunshine but we will be looking elsewhere now...

  • Advice: In need of upgrade, but the staff are great.

we have stayed at the Med 3 times and hopefully can give a fair report/point of view. The complex requires some serious refurbishment and new ideas. The food at breakfast is adequate but evening dinner is almost a continuous choice of oven cooked lamb, diced pork or veal, all cheap varieties along with a poor choice of vegetables. Very little fish and no choices for children at all. The salad bar is prepared with no flair or obvious enthusiasm, very ordinary (boring, whilst the sweets/cheese counter is stuck in a corner with poor access. It too provides nothing speciual, with rock hard ice cream (and no pickaxe provided!) The Beach Cafe is in a run-down condition and the food display cabinets do not appear hygienic. This, together with selling apparently left-over food from the Hotel ensured we ate elsewhere. The Pool Bar is very limited and expensive. The Tennis Court after some rain amasses puddles which are not rectified. All in all, NOT a 4 star Hotel I am sorry to say ... it probably never was!
Lassi itself is quite small with not much but bars/restaurants going on and it is disturbing that leisure time practices are getting quite expensive with prices 'rounded up', so be warned.
Although we love Kefalonia, it will be some time before we return and it will not be to the Med unless there is some serious money spent in the meantime.

The worst hotel i have ever visited!!

This hotel isn't 4 star as advertised. I visited too many hotels but this is the worst I have been to for years.
The carpet and the bed spread were stained. The sheets and towels were dirty. They provided beach towels which were not changed.
The main problem we encountered was with the extremely rude receptionist. A lot of expensive things were stolen from our room but the answer ot the hotel managment was : "its not my business".
Breakfast was exactly the same each day every day.
Beware and spend your money somewhere else!!

  • Advice: Do not visit that place ever!!

Have just arrived back from a lovely holiday at this hotel. The food was really nice but remember, it is all Greek. My 12 year old son did not appreciate this. What a lot of people haven't mentioned is the hotel is situated at the bottom of a hill. This is stated in the brochure as a gentle slope, but I thought it was a lot steeper than that! The main concern is the room that we were allocated, was very dated. It was clean and tidy but the furniture was very old and had been repainted badly. We did complain and was given the choice of another room, that was lovely. We were then told it was going to cost us another 250 euros. We declined on this offer, because we felt we had spent enough already. We were told by the rep that it was 4 star because of the location and the food and that there is nothing to compare it to in the area. The rooms are definitely not 4 star.
The pool is very nice and the beach is lovely. We did walk to the stavante beach (long beach) which had lots of water sports and beach bars. Kefalonia is a lovely Greek island and worth a visit. I would go back when the rooms are updated.

  • Advice: The whole area is lovely but quiet.
  • Activities: Argistole town is worth a visit.

Returned to Hotel Mediterranee for the 2nd time in 2 years. Another great holiday, Lassi is a good resort and a friendly atmosphere. Beaches and sea first class. Hotel perfectly situated, staff fantastic (Peter, Andriane, Sofia and the reception girls), pool and sun area first class. Main body of the hotel good, rooms basic but very clean. Food much improved from last year. Will definately return for a third time.

  • Advice: Eat out when you can due to a couple of nice restaurants. Still very Greek and unspoilt. Nice bars.

We have just had a wonderful week at the Hotel Mediteraneein Kefalonia although given a four star it is not an English four star. After saying that the hotel was very clean with bedding/towels changed frequently, the Hotel is in the process of being refurbished. The food was buffet style but could not be faulted, there was a good range of foods to choose from and it was always hot.The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was very handy having the beach just outside the door as I have a walking problem at the moment and it made life a lot easier. We would not hesitate in going back to the Mediteranee

Concur with all the other reviews. This is an excellent hotel with good service. Particularly Peter and Addie in the resturant.
Yes it could have done with some more entertainment but then again, maybe that is the charm.

Any body thinking of going... it's a must. Just arrived back from a fab week with my other half. Both thought the beach and poolside was well-kept and not to noisy with hundreds of children. Great location as was only 5 minutes walk from the centre of Lassi where all bars and restaurants are.
RECOMMEND hiring a set of wheels to have some freedom so to see the island more. Sami/Agostoli are worth visiting where we saw a turtle basking in the sun. Weather was 35 degree's plus with slight breeze so having the A/C in the rooms certainly was very welcome at night.
I believe they have had a new pool this year and had the bathrooms updated which by the look of the old photo's it needed too. Very clean rooms and the maid's would come in every day to clean and put fresh linen and towels for you.
Food was great but we ended up changing our evening meals for the lunch time menu which you can eat down by the beach and have a much more traditional Greek cuisine.
Finally go on the Sunset Cruise which sails from Agia Efimia to Fiskardo if you love unspoilt traditional Greek ports, But over all GO, it'll be worth it...

Hotel is clean and tidy and welcoming. The meals in the resturant were excellent. The waiters and staff were very smart, polite and professional. The hotel was in an excellent location beside the beach and within easy walking distance of the Capital, Argostoli. We would definately go back.

I stayed here with my Mum in August 2007. When we first got there I was a bit apprehensive as when you stepped into the hotel it was quite old fashioned decor. However it was perfectly clean and the staff were friendly.
Our room was fine, it had all the essentials anyway such as a dressing table, air co and a balcony. It was a very nice room for Greece but not luxurious by any stretch of the imagination. However we didn't expect luxury cos none of the hotels in Lassi really are -eventhough some are quite pricey it is worth the money because I would say it is one of the nicest Greek islands with the friendliest people. The bathroom was nice and even had a bath (not that u would want to use it in such heat!).
The food here was brilliant and a huge selection. Breakfasts consisted of everything: cereals, pastries, fruit, yoghurt, cooked breakfast, cheeses, fruit juice, coffee...(the list goes on). The dinners were lovely too with a starter, choice of main meals and desserts. All the food is buffet style so u can have as much or as little as you want. And the staff that serve drinks are very friendly and welcoming.
The pool area and bar areas were really nice but again old fashioned (in a good way). Didn't much like the hotel beach but when we were there there was oil in the sea. However Makris Gialos beach a bit further up is lovely and has a vast array of watersports and good beach bar and place to eat. People on this beach very friendly and u can have a laugh with them.
Overall Lassi is a great place to go and it is beautiful. If you stay at this hotel you will have a great time but it is quite formal so if your wanting something more relaxed try the princess hotel as I stayed there in July and it was also brilliant but in a different way.
