In 30 years of foreign holidays this is without doubt the worst room(s) we've ever booked! The decor is 10 years behind schedule for redecorating, the beds are a 'tired old mattress' on a CONCRETE base, the shower dribbled (at best) & needed two people (one to hold it while... more

We stayed for two weeks in June 05 and were made very welcome at the Meltemi village. Our 8 Year old daughter loved the pool and we the sunbeds. Everything we needed was on the doorstep, but there was no noise at night. We loved going in the Good News Bar and Dorians at... more

Average small rooms, clean, fantastic pool!
Booked via Venere.com. Our family stayed at the Meltemi hotel in Santorini a couple week ago. We had two rooms, a double (room 26) and a triple (room 52). The double was right down the hall in the main building from the recdeption lobby. The triple was down a pleasant walkway, had two beds down, a small kitchenette, and a single bed (bedroom) up a small slight of steps. Overall: an average hotel experience, clean rooms, but the double was real small. The pool and pool-bar area was exceptional, nice large size, shaded and sunny sections, really very nice! The beach is the fabled black beach of Perissa, a couple blocks away but an easy walk, but hotter than hot on the beach! Lots of boating activities: my advice: everybody we met on Santorini said it was one of their favorite two beaches (out of the dozen or more on the island) - but they all did water sports - go there, and get out on the water - otherwise, stay at the hotel pool when you're not sight-seeing! We rented a car across the street, drove to Oia for the tourist stuff - what everybody comes here for - ate a nice dinner there - etc etc. The hotel is identifiable by a sign for Club Meltemi - their bar/restaurant our front. The hotel is back a walk way along the side through the palms you may miss until you just walk back in there across an unmarked stone court yard. Overall experience, more or less positive. No qualms in recommending, with the caveats that the double rooms and baths are standard euro-small. Breakfast? Not so good, but enough to stave off hunger. But what makes this place is the pool!
Basic accommodation in great location with great pool area!
We stayed at Meltemi Village for three nights while in Perissa. This is a very basic accommodation, with small bathroom etc... but really has everything you need. And for 75 EURO a night it was pretty good. The location of the hotel is just excellent! Five min walk to the beach and next door to loads of bars and restaurants... The hotel has a lovely pool area with great deck chairs (plenty of them!).... we found ourselves spending most of our time here instead of the beach as it was less crowded and free! The water park is located across the road and you have free entry as a hotel guest, although you have to pay 2 EURO if you want to go on the rides. Hotel staff were very friendly here and I would recommend this hotel to people after basic accommodation with great facilities!
Not bad...
When we booked through our travel agent we made it clear we were coming to get married and have a honeymoon. The room we were given was obviously the next in line, no consideration appeared to have been given to the fact that this was a special holiday for us. The room was awful, with a tiny balcony that you could only just fit two chairs on and overlooked a car work yard. We complained and were immediately offered a choice of any of the remaining rooms. We got a better room and the receptionist was really helpful, but I wouldn't recommend this hotel to honeymoon couples, it's just too basic. We got a room that had a sunny patio area for most of the day which was good as we often sit and read in the morning or late afternoon, however many of the other rooms seemed to be in the shade for most of the day. The room was cleaned every day and they were done well, the towels were replaced daily and although they were always clean, they were very old and frayed with small holes in alot of them. The air conditioner didn't seem to be very efficient and was quite noisy, but the first week was comfortable and we didn't need to have it on, but it did begin to get very hot in the second week. The beach is a short walk away, and you have to pay 5 to 6 euros for an umbrella and 2 sun loungers. We didn't bother and we laid on towels on the beach (you can buy beach mats for 1.50 euros) but in the second week they got out loads more sun loungers and space on the beach was getting limited! If you like to swim in the sea go down to the far end of the beach as it is easy to get in and out from there. The rest of the beach is very rocky just as you get into the sea. I would recommend this hotel to people who just want a base, somewhere to sleep and have a shower. I don't think you could cook much on the cooker rings but eating out is cheap enough. (Definitely go to 'Chocolat' on the beachfront for crepes, they are the best on the island)! Safety deposit boxes are kept in the reception area and cost 2.50 euros per day (expensive as my parents were in a hotel a short walk away and paid 1.50 euros per day for theirs). The hotel bar is meant to shut at 1.30am but it shuts at about 3am...it can be noisy. I could hear the music but I used earplugs and that was fine. A good holiday all in all, but a week is enough to explore the whole island thoroughly.
Nice Hotel, Very Helpful Staff
My fiancee and I booked this hotel based on the reviews on this website and most of them were pretty close to the mark. Here is my take on it (apologies if it's a bit long!) Firstly the rooms: We were in a studio room that had a double bed, single bed, ensuite bathroom and small kitchenette. The room itself was quite clean, and we didn't see many bugs or ants (although you are bound to get the odd fly in). The bed was so-so, although the pillows were quite thin and lumpy (however the staff helped out here, see below). There was a small TV very high up on the wall, but it only picked up German channels. A chair and dressing table, a table to put your suitcase and a good sized wardrobe finished off the furniture. The bathroom was also fairly clean although the bath could have done with updating. There was also no shower curtain, which meant it was very hard to stop water going all over the floor. However, since it is all tiled and there was a grate in the floor it didn't really matter, you just got wet feet getting out (although it could be a bit slippy). As with everywhere in Greece you cannot put toilet roll down the loo, but there is a bin for that which is emptied everyday - you get use to using it and it doesn't even smell... The kitchenette was only useful for the fridge. The cooker rings looked quite old and I doubt you could cook much on them. The fridge was quite noisy whenever it decided to switch on, and being in the same room as the bed was very noticeable at night. Our solution was to turn it off at night (although nothing inside went off). The pool area of the hotel is very nice. There are plenty of loungers, and there was always a few free. They were good quality ones as well. The one problem with the loungers was that on one side of the pool they were out of shade most of the day, and on another side they were in shade most of the day, so you had to get there before around 10am to get a lounger that could be easily moved in and out of shade. The pool is well maintained and clean, and has a very shallow end (half a metre) down to a very deep part (although no diving allowed). There is also a bar by the pool which usually had free tables and served a good selection of food and drink. Onto the location of the hotel: The resort, Perissa, is not huge so wherever you stay you are near the beach and nightlife. This resort is about a 5 min walk down a side street to the beachfront, even in midday heat it's not a big deal. It is also on a main road parallel to the beachfront road, which also has a wide selection of bars and restaurants. So basically, the location is great and within walking distance of a large selection of bars and restaurants. There is also a bar attached to the hotel, on the main road (next to the pool bar) which attracts a lot of people at night as it shows football matches with English commentary. It can get loud but our room was near the front and we never heard it from there. (We were also there during the World Cup so it may have been busier due to that). Finally, the staff of the hotel. I would have given this resort 3 stars based on it's room, but the staff were so helpful I had to bump it up to 4. Firstly, when we saw the thin pillows we asked for a couple more and got them straight away. Secondly, when we arrived there was a lightbulb not working. We arrived late at night and the receptionist said it would be dealt with asap. We went for a wander for an hour and sure enough when we got back it had been fixed. We also saw when we arrived that there was no curtain or frosted glass in the bathroom, and with no shower curtain people could see in! We mentioned this to reception, and the next morning after we had left the room they went in and put up a small curtain for the window. Finally, any questions we had about where to go, how to get around, etc were answered by any of the receptionists, and their English was good enough to understand without them having to repeat it. Overall, the hotel room was not brilliant, but for the price we paid and the general quality in Greece we could not complain and the important thing is we felt comfortable and safe. The pool was very nice and the location was ideal. The staff were very helpful and efficient and made us feel welcome. One last thing I have to warn you about is the cats! The moment we arrived we were befriended by two cats, one of whom was bold enough to come into the room and lie down, refusing to budge until giving some food!

Good value
My wife and I stayed at Meltemi village in Perissa beach Santorini and thoroughly enjoyed it. The room is fairly basic, but it was well kept and very clean. The location is good unless you're into partying every night in which case Fira may be better. If you just want to lounge at the beach, this is a good choice (it's a 5min walk to the beach). The staff was fairly helpful and even let us use the pool and showers for the rest of the day after we had checked out, which was nice. Breakfast was basic but similar to all other hotels we stayed at. I would likely return.
Nice hotel, nice price!
Hotel Meltemi Village: Nice hotel, v friendly helpful staff. Very clean. Lovely pool area with tasteful teak sunloungers, not the usual white plastic! Good mix of guests from all over Europe – Brits, French, Dutch, Germans. Doubt you’ll find better for that price bracket in Perissa – we paid 56 E per room per night in June 06. A couple of things to note: the satellite TV in the rooms doesn’t have an English channel if that kind of thing is important to you. Also, only the B & B double rooms overlook the pool, so don’t believe it if your tour operator agrees to a pool view when you book a studio or apartment. It’s just as easy to book your own flight (we paid £150 with xl.com) and book with the hotel direct on www.meltemivillage.gr – they can arrange airport transfers both ways for only 15 E per person. Perissa: Still a developing resort, but more than enough restaurants and bars to keep you busy! We had nice meals at Veggera, Charlina’s (both beachfront) and Finikas (main road through the resort). We also liked the Yazz bar on the beach for a chillout drink with funky music. Nearest pharmacy is in the next village, Emboreio, a 5E taxi ride away. The beach shelves steeply so not good for non-swimmers. Santorini as a whole: One week seems to be enough to see everything & still get some pool/beach time in. Shop around for car hire & day trips – there are lots of travel agencies in every resort. We paid 27E (inc fully comp insurance) for a small hatchback car for 1 day, and 20E for a full-day boat trip to the volcano, hot springs, Thirassia & Ia. I have read that people think Santorini is expensive – the beach resorts like Perissa and Kamari are no more expensive than other Greek islands in my experience – the extra cost is if you decide to eat in a restaurant in Fira or Ia that overlooks the volcano. Santorini airport is small, the same as most Greek islands. Be prepared to queue for some time in the sun to check in for your flight home – keep your water, hat & sunscreen handy!!!
meltemi village
We came here for a fortnight and were very impressed. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. The room was cleaned everyday to a high standard. The bathroom was a little on the small side as were some of the other guests rooms but we had a very large bedroom/kitchen area and found it of a better standard than other hotel/apartments we have stayed in throughout greece. Great restaurants nearby and along the road although a little expensive there is a bar (sorry can't remember the name but it is obvious which one it is when walking past) same side as the meltimi which has all the current up to date films that are out in england showing 2 a night at 2 different sittings so you can sit back and relax with your favourite tipple and watch a movie for a laid back evening. Pool was wonderful with plenty of sunbeds for everyone. After looking at the different accomodation that was available in the area I would say that this was one of the best and would have no hesitation in either going back there or recommending it to others. Dont do the thompsons trip to ira or fira as there is a bus which runs right passed the meltimi which will take you there on the hour for a fraction of the cost (it only takes 15/20 minutes to reach the other end of the island.
Pretty island with dramatic views
The Meltemi village studios are lovely, simple but spotlessly clean and with flowers all around. A lovely pool area. Don't forget to book a cruise around the caldera and either watch the sunset from the sea or from one of the clifftop towns.
It was great!
For the price we paid, we got much more than we were expecting. We booked a room at the Meltemi Villas, but since it was our honeymoon, they put us in their new hotel, right beside. The room was nice, very clean and silent. Very close to the beach and the staff was very friendly!
