Wow what a island. But what I poor hotel. The Pool was good and clean, but why o why would you close it at 6pm Everynight just so they can put the fountain in. Yes even in August when it's 38 degrees we were not only kicked out of the pool but asked to leave the pool area... more

My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel for 3 days as part of an island hopping trip. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful and the hotel was located right on the beach, with plenty to do all down the sea front, including fantastic tavernas, tour... more

Loved it
Very good hotel. The staff is nice and its location is perfect. With the price you pay you would expect a bit more, however overall you are going to have a good stay if you choose this hotel.
Good Hotel, Good Location
This is a good hotel. I stayed for 8 nights in September and found the staff to be friendly and accomodating. The pool is lovely as everyone has remarked and the hotel is very convenient to the beach (literally right on the beach). The rooms are decent though you should know that the older rooms are in the back of the hotel and are very simple, nothing to write home about. The newer rooms are in the main hotel complex and are much nicer in terms of artwork (and newer) but also tiny, like most rooms in Greek hotels. There is also no bathtub/enclosed shower in the newer rooms which I never like because the entire bathroom gets soaked when you bathe. Overall, i would say that the staff is good here, but you are paying a premium to be in Kamari and right on the beach. Also given the prices, you might expect slightly better accomodations, so if you have the time I would look into a hotel that is not right on the beach but perhaps cheaper (and even better appointed).
Loved the sea view
Just arrived home from staying at The Kamari Beach Hotel, and we had a fantastic time. The hotel was very nice, clean and everyone was very friendly. We had a nice room, but the bathroom was a bit on the small size, infact you could sit on the toilet and have a shower at the same time. We reccommend that you pay for a sea view because it was well worth it. The food at all the eating places were fantastic, but be careful you dont get done like we did when we ordered a volcanoe of fish and ended up paying 150 euros. The Smiths from Lancashire

There are several positive things about the hotel - the beach is in front of the hotel, the pool area is gorgeous in the evening lights, the bungalo area is solitary and quite. The hotel is popular among elderly couples. The pool area faces the walking promenade, which gives you a feeling of a communicating courtyard. Breakfast is terrible. We stayed in two hotels in Kamari, so would advise you to choose those that are not located along the main stroll alley.. There are better places a bit further from the beach.
Clean, Welcoming basic hotel
Very clean, rooms serviced each day. Nice bar with typical greek food (pizza, salad), all of reasonable quality. Perfect location for beach visits and situated on main promenade for nice bars and tasty restaurants. I would visit the Kamari Beach Hotel again as above all it was clean and fairly reasonable considering location and the island in general.
Loved the pool and pool bar !
We stayed at the Kamari Beach Hotel from 30th of July till 6 August 2007. When arriving we had to wait 2 hours before we could check in our room. The staff at the reception was friendly but cool.. when we finally got in our room, we were a bit disappointed, as it was a dark dated room, the toilet didn't flush, and we had more than once some visitors (cockroaches,!). The toilet got fixed fast, but we were not offered another room and apparently they couldn't do anything about the cockroaches.. The pool was very good, it's about the largest one in kamari, and was not too crowded. Eating by the pool was also quite good. Also at night you could drink some nice cocktails, and the staff at the pool bar was very friendly! It was a boy and a girl, if anyone has an emailaddress from the boy or girl who worked at the pool bar, please let me know.. i'd like to keep contact Also very interesting were the hundreds of bars and restaurants and shops nearby, also a bank at a few meters !! So our stay was good, santorini is awsome !! and hope to go back soon, just our room was the least good thing during our holiday. I also have a remark about the staff at the restaurant (evenings). They were not always that friendly, and they were a bit too fast for taking away your plate. And there were few desserts.. the warm meals were very good although. So good hotel but not overwhelming! This hotel's asset is its site and nice pool !
Great stay, great location!
We stayed at the Kamari Beach Hotel for a week in June. Our room was in the main building and had recently been updated (freshly painted and bathroom completely new). Pool was very nice and as we tended to stay around the pool versus the lava beach this was a real plus. If you prefer the beach, there are sun lounges with umbrellas that you can rent for the day for 6Euros. The hotel is situated on the promenade and is filled with restaurants where you can stop in for a cool one or for something to eat after a tough day of hanging out by the water! A few restaurants on the main promenade that we ejoyed were Syrtakis ( my husband loved the mousakka); the Elmira and I had the best grilled squid at Skaramagas. We also enjoyed "Alexander's" which was on one of the back streets. All and all we had a great time in Santorini and we would not hesitate to stay at the Kamari Beach Hotel on any future trip!
A good place to relax by the beach
Just got back from a lovely week spent at the Kamari Beach Hotel on Santorini. Our party had 3 rooms - 2 in the outlying blocks, one in the main hotel building On the plus side: 1) Pool - probably the biggest pool in town, with lots of space for sunbathing around it, with a pool bar / cafe 2) Location - right on the beach, and on the promenade where all the best restaurants are 3) Staff - all really friendly and helpful 4) Maid service - hotel is kept very clean, and there are daily towel changes, somewhat unusual for what is, at the end of the day, just a beachside hotel 5) Airport transfer - only a 15 minute coach transfer from the airport, but then, to be honest, Santorini is so small the longest bus ride you're ever going to get is probably to Oia, and that would only take 45 minutes max! On the down side: 1) Breakfast - pretty standard stuff for this type of hotel, nice enough but nothing terribly exciting - a couple of cereals, nice fresh bread, cake, ham, cheese, a couple of hot items, tea and coffee etc. It was perfectly fine, but by the end of the week we we getting breakfast out... 2) Decor in the outlying blocks was a little tired, but was in good repair and kept spotlessly clean. One of our party had a room in the main building which seemed to have been refurbished very recently. Not sure if that applies for the whole of the main building. Overall, a really lovely hotel, in a really good location, on a really lovely island. Would return in a shot. Kamari itself is probably the busiest resort on Santorini, but is still realtively quiet and tranquil. There is no comparison to the likes of Kavos (Corfu), Faliraki (Rhodes) or Laganas (Zante). There are no hordes of rampaging British youths (there is in fact a nice mix of both nationalities and ages), there are no nightclubs blaring til 6am and most of the restaurants seemed to be of a good quality. Probably a bit pricier than other Greek islands, but you get what you pay for I guess. Best eat we found was Almira restaurant, almost the last place at the Airport end of the promenade. Fantastic food, and cheaper than the restaurants more centrally located. Their stuffed lamb (rolled in vine leaves, stuffed with peppers and feta cheese) is both delicious and huge! A bargain at €8. As a general indication - we were spending between €20 and €25 a night for 2 courses and a couple of drinks. Food was generally good quality. A large draft beer (Mythos is the good, local brew) ranged from €3 to €5. Cocktails generally around €6. Milshakes about €5. All in all, a really nice hotel in a resort ideal for a realxing break in the sun! Just wish we had more than one week there!
Santorini
The small resort of Kamari in the greek island of Santorini is a must see. The area is so beautiful with the most amazign sunsets. The choice and indeed quality of restaurants cannot be matched.
Loved this little gem
We stayed here in May 2003. Loved it. We usually run around a lot on vacations, seeing sites, but here we took a few days to sit by the pool and do nothing and it was great. Kamari is on the far side of the island from the caldera, near the ruins of Ancient Thira. The caldera side is steep cliffs and the beach side slopes down gently to the water. The beach is black sand and quite beautiful, although we didn't venture onto it much, as it isn't soft sand, more like little lava pebbles. We mostly stayed by the pool, just across the road from the beach, looking out toward the ocean. Our room looked inward toward the pool/courtyard of the hotel, with a nice balcony. The room was clean and decorated, although not luxurious. We didn't spend much time in the room, so that wasn't an issue. The little road between the hotel and the beach was lined with restaurants and cafes and we had no shortage of dining options. It was not crowded and one night a restauranteur even insisted I go back to his kitchen and pick out my own fish. The Kamari Beach hotel seems to have the largest pool in the town, at least it appeared that way from the view we got of the town from high up on Ancient Thira, which is high on the rocky outcrop next to Kamari. To get to the caldera side of the island, we either went with a tour to do the volcanic tour or rented a scooter, which we finally managed to do even without an international motorcycle license. There is a long, popular beach nearby, on the other side of the huge rocky outcrop that holds Ancient Thira...Perissa...and they offer boat rides from one side of the rocky outcrop to the other if you wish to go beach-hopping. Perissa is supposed to be a popular beach, but it was pretty deserted when we rode out scooter over to check it out. Breakfast here was nice and served in the courtyard every morning. I fell in love with the Greek yogurt with honey, so I don't remember what else was served, but DH was happy, so it must have been good. Drinks by the pool were pricey, of course, but not completely outrageous. We ate all other meals off site at the many restaurants on the beach road. There was what looked like a nice sort of barbecue entertainment thing at the hotel one night, but we chose to go off on our own. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel. It was clean, convenient, has a great pool area, and our room had excellent views as you can see from the photos. You won't get caldera views here, though...those are on the other side of the island.
