Aegean Plaza Hotel Reviews
" Lovely hotel - probably has the best... "
Submitted By: Mrs D Pickard
Lovely hotel - probably has the best spot in Kamari in terms of views.
Rooms are very spacious and all look out over the town and the sea. Rooms are spotless and there is maid service every day.
The hotel is uphill and is also a maze of steps so it’s not for the disabled or those with walking difficulties. It’s worth the uphill slog though for the view and the peace and quiet at night.
Kamari beach is lovely, volcanic sand gets ridiculously hot so do not attempt to walk barefoot....we saw many try, and spectacularly fail! The sea is crystal clear but it gets deep very quickly so it’s not for kids. Buy some sea shoes. They sell them in most shops and they’re great for helping you get in and out of the sea as it’s really pebbly and hurts your feet otherwise.
Plenty of sunloungers available. You could always get a space whatever time you turned up.
We were a little disappointed with the quality of the food in the restaurants in Kamari. There are loads of them (more than enough to eat somewhere different every night, even on a 2 week hol) but we only had about five really nice meals the whole fortnight (and 2 of those were in Fira!).
The Italian called Classico was good and so was the one next door (didn’t get that one’s name but it had green tables and chairs) Kiwi was good too - this is on a side road near the internet cafe. Don’t expect any freebies after your meal.
We go to Greece a lot and have always got a little shot of Ouzo or even a little dessert after our meal but in Santorini you get nothing.
Fira is spectacular. The brochure pictures are stunning but when you see it with your own eyes, its jaw dropping. You can eat better in Fira but expect to pay double what you would in Kamari... I suppose this is only to be expected though.
Be prepared for the airport on the way home. If you go to Greece a lot, as we do, then you'll know to expect an airport the size of a shoebox.
In all we had a lovely holiday but you do get much more for your money on other Greek islands but then again, I suppose you pay for those views and sunsets!

Other than this. we found the hotel perfectly situated, and extremely peaceful, and the hotel staff were exceedingly polite and helpful.
An extremely relaxing and enjoyable stay!
