Beware the "Traditional" accommodation!
from PaulPoole
We booked through Thomsons and stayed at the Michaelangelo Apartments in July 2007 and had to take a 2 bedroomed apartment in the more "traditional" part of the complex opposite the supermarket. These apartments are charged at the same rate as the modern apartments but are poorly maintained and the bathrooms and kitchens need a complete refurb. Air conditioning is expensive at an extra cost of 35 euros per week per bedroom! Safe deposit is chargeable and the boxes are in reception. No TV's! No microwaves and clean towels twice a week if you are lucky. Not highly rated and there are much better apartments around. Supermarket and Taverna on the complex are very good indeed. If you decide to go, insist on an apartment in the new part of the complex, with a view to the sea.
What a hell hole!!!

Booked our two week holiday seven months before departure and could not wait to get to Corfu for our first visit. On arrival late at night the studio provided was filthy. It had blood stains on the floors and walls from where mosquitos had been killed, crumbs and hairs on top of the fridge, the hob and bathroom looked like they had never been cleaned in the last decade, cobwebs hanging from all the lighting, main room smelt of damp and after moving the beds extensive damp patches were found. Now lets talk about security and privacy, the patio doors would not lock which meant I had a good sleep but my boyfriend spent the whole night awake worrying a stranger may wander in and to top it off the yellow curtain covering the patio window was as seethrough as a lacy bra which meant when the light was on other guests outside could see in!!! Also when my boyfriend asked the hotel about air conditioning the hotel manager took EUR70.00 for the two week stay. We complained to our holiday rep in the morning and requested to be moved to another room to which they advised that they were fully booked and we could not move. The tour operator moved us to another resort however the manager of the hotel only refunded us EUR50.00 of our money for the one night's air conditioning. Please note that this hotel charges EUR35.00 per week per air conditioning unit i.e. if you have a two bedroom apartment with two air conditioning units it will cost you EUR70.00 per week, what a joke.
A wondrous place

My fiance and I first went to the Michaelangelo apartments on a last minute deal late September 2005, we enjoyed it so much that the weekend after we got back we booked a 2 week holiday for the following year! You do need to book through Thompson, as the apartments are much better than if you book through Olympic holidays. The resort is split by a small road between the 2 sets of apartments. The apartments are very clean, have their own fridge, and aircon is available if you pay locally. All of the staff are very friendly and any queries are resolved pretty much straight away. The bar have a number of activities on and the food is pretty good too. The pools are clean and there are loads of free sunbeds aroung the pools too. Kassiopi itself is a lovely resort, we would like to buy a plot of land and build a villa there! There are many places to eat out, for all budgets, we particularly liked the Wave Bar, right on the harbour wall and were fascinated when one lunchtime an octopus was caught, and then served in a nearby restaurant! Another fantastic restaurant is the Strofilia restaurant, which is on the main high street. You might not think it looks like much from outside but the food is amazing and the staff are great and make you feel at home. One piece of advise is you will need to book to go here! We are really looking forward to our next holiday at Michaelangelo.
We only wanted clean towels!!!

Stayed at michaelangelo village from 1/9/06 till 8/9/06 We have been to corfu before so we new what to expect from the bus ride to resort (just dont look out the windows on the bus if you dont like heights) Once we arrived at resort we were taken to our rooms, we had 2 rooms 4 of us in total on first appearance rooms looked nice and clean, did the bed checking thing and we were greeted with dirty stains on sheets along with body hair. the other room had the worst smell ever I went to reception to report the smell and the sheets on the bed, she said (wait for this!!!!!) you often get hair on the sheets because they are new sheets I stood there looked at her in disbelief and said I'm talking about pubic hair she gave me the dirtest look and said she'll get them changed and she'll send someone to see where to smell was coming from. A man came round unblocked drain outside room and sent the maid to put chlorine down toilet, and spray air freshener. The next day the smell was back, again maid came poured something down toilet, sprayed air freshener and again the smell was back, we gave in and just stayed in one room after that. Now lets talk about towels when you arrive you will find one bath towel and one hand towel per person, we received clean towels on the monday we did think we would be given them on sunday but remembered that most of maids are day off on sundays so that wasn't really a big deal, by wednesday night our towels were dirty and smelt so I went to reception to ask for some clean towels she said she will ask the manager and get back to us by 7pm I went back to reception to see where my clean towels where, another receptionist was now on duty and said the manager has gone home and they is nothing she could do, so we just had to use dirty towels to get dry. On thursday we thought we would get clean towels when maid came but how wrong we were, Again went to reception , told to come back at 7pm again another receptionist said manager went home, then our rep over heard and said they need clean towels they have only been changed once whilst they've been here I thought the receptionist finally understood 'cause she looked horrified that we had been using the same towel all week, so she telephoned the manager and asked if we could have clean towels but he said no, I just cant believe nobody has mentioned this on this site before because load of people on complex were complaining about this. I would like to add that the maid was round every day to clean your room, except sundays and she did a really good job too.
Kassiopi is beautiful
from Kiwichik
We stayed at the Michal Angelo Village in June 2006. The complex is great, 3 pools and brilliant restaurant and bar. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. The rooms (we booked via Olympic) are very basic and even though they are self-catering I didn't feel tempted to use the electric rings that were on the steel bench next to the dish drainer. The apartments were cleaned 6 days a week and towels changed at least twice. Kassiopi is a lovely resort that is not too commercialised. There are lovely restaurants in both the main town and at the port. We would recommed Janus in the main town and Kyma in the Port as exceptional. For lunches, the restaurant at Michal Angelo was one of the best. A thoroughly lovely place with excellent coves for swimming. Would recommend hiring a car and driving around the beautiful island. Enjoy!!
had a great time
from joeLuton
We had a great time here, we chose to come on half term week, which coinsided with the last week of the season, but in all fairness, this did not mean that the resort was on wind down. If anything I think they put even more effort in ! The rooms are clean and basic. We did cook a couple of times in the apartment , but you had to have very basic meals as two electric rings is just not enough to cook for a family. There are two restaurants on the site, both are very good. The Greek night on Thursdays are a must, a very good meal and entertainment for 20 euro's an adult and 10 euros a child well worth it! The walk into Kassiopi itself is quite an experience, I wouldn't like to try it with small children or a buggy, Roads are rough and beware of the scooters, they come up behind you very quickly, once you become aware of your surrounding, you kind of fall into the way of life and as soon as you do this, you never want to leave. The people are lovely, (Take the East Island Boat trip from Cosmic Travel in Kassiopi, definately a highlight to our holiday). all in all a very enjoyable holiday for us and the kids who are aged 10 & 12 an age where they find everything we like to do boring! but they was plenty for them to do on site. Three swimming pools , games room with Pool/snooker table tennis, tennis courts, and games machines. Would definately go again.
Lovely place
from pmfreeman
My girlfriend an I stayed here. The room was small but very comfortable despite being one of the older rooms. There were some newly built/refurbished. My only critiscism of the place was that it was listed as self catering. We did not feel you could properly cook for a family with the facilities provided. The grounds/pools were nice (if compact) and the whole place is on a hill. The complex had a great little shop, cafe, bar and another pub. The food they served was great and the staff were all very friendly. We loved Kassioppi itself - a huge selection of restaurants and bars. There was a little harbour and two or three little pebble beaches with lovely clear water. The dive store by harbour was great - I reccommend them to dive with! We didn't mind the walk to the centre of town each day, but with small kids, this could be a problem. We had a fantastic holiday here, but it would be less suitable for families/kids. Go to "Time out bar" on the harbour!!!
Very hilly not good for pushchairs

We had booked this holiday at the last minute and I wish we had not. The journey from the airport to the village was awful, thank god it was dark. The roads are not for the faint hearted. When we arrived our appartment was right at the top, we had to walk up 7 flights of stairs, and this was with a pushchair. The rooms were ok the food on sight was terrible.
What a place!!

I arrived home from michaelangelo village last week and I have to say I couldnt fault it. The people were so friendly and really went out of their way to make sure we had a lovely time. The greek night is definitely one to do but there is something to do on the complex every night if you dont feel like venturing out. The restaurant across from the main reception serve mouthwatering food, both greek and english, and the bar was always busy. The apartments were basic but clean, the 3 pools were really relaxing and we never struggled to get a sun lounger ( even in the afternoon). I am definitely going back next year.
great relaxation

i've visited the Michaelangelo Village twice, and i'm going again this year !!!! fantastic is the only word i can use to describe this place. it's a family run complex about 10 mins walk from the centre of kassiopi. the pools are suitable for all, the on site restraunt/ snack bar is extremley good and the bar is a hive if entertainment. if you wantpeace and quiet through the day then this is the place to go. happy holidays
