Advice: bring your shades
Activities: michelangelo restaurant
" BASIC AND DIRTY "
Submitted By: jorobertsThe floors had dust, hairs and bits all over in fact it did not look as if this apartment had been cleaned at all.
Upon our arrival on the monday we saw that the bathroom had no window so we contacted reception straight away but were told that the previous people had broken it but they could not get it repaired before the Tuesday, however it took several more visits to reception and up to the Thursday to get it fixed.
There was a pack of 5 dogs that were wandering about the complex all week and one of them was "on heat2 so we were subject to dogs howlig for hours on end fighting amongst each other and on 2 days 3 of them mating round the pool with the [--].
again we complained several times but were told that they were strays and that they could not control them and that it was the fault of the Holiday makers for feeding them and nothing could be done. These dogs were big dogs and were vicious and were barking at and preventing Holiday makers from getting sun beds round the pool, it was a frightening time for lots of us.
At night we were subject to quad bikes and scooters revving and speeding through the complex at very high speeds despite it being a 20mph zone, they seemed to be using the complex as a race circuit and were again told that "nothing could be done.
the Holiday was a nightmare and I would not recommend this resort to anyone and it is most definately not worth the 3 thomson suns that they have graded it at I`d be pushed to give it 1,Never again
The only good thing this week was the weather !!!!!!
Advice: beautiful harbour, poor accomodation
Activities: Tex mex in the square and mythos on the site
Good for: Beach
" Huge Disappointment "

Kassiopi is lovely area of Corfu – don’t spoil your holiday by booking the Michelangelo Village Apartments - a huge disappointment.

" A Favourite Holiday... "
Submitted By: sars20Kassiopi itself was such a lovely place to go. We'd read reviews that it was lovely, but you never quite know whether it'll be the same for you...but it was. We loved it. When we were there it was just the right kind of busy - it wasn't a ghost town or sooo quiet that it was boring, but it wasn't crowded or noisey either. It had lots of shops and loads of restaurants and a beautiful harbour surrounded by more restaurants and bars. But its not a really lively noisey place - although there is a club and one sports/ cocktail bar by the harbour which we went to every night "Illusions" which plays loud cheesey kind of music - but generally it was quite a chilled out, typically Greek and decent place to be. There was no water sports, being a harbour, but you could hire boats and bikes/ quads/ buggies. There was a lovely walk off the harbour up a hill and pass lots of little pebbly beaches and coves, with beautiful sunsets in the evenings.
The food was great. Not expensive either. We only had one meal which wasn't so good both by quantity and quality (a bit greasy) but every other place we ate was really nice. My only disappointment a bit was that most meals didn't say what they came with and when they arrived...CHIPS.
So I give the holiday a 9 out of 10! :)
" What a relief! "
Submitted By: JacquiKWe had a two room (4 bed) apartment - for a bit of extra room. The apartments are not new, and show reasonable signs of wear and repair. As with other apartments we've stayed in on Corfu, they have plain white walls, stone tiled floors, and plain dark wood furniture and fitments. The kitchen area was very small, with integrated fridge, two ring hob and sink, plus cupboards and breakfast type bar. Also a kettle which you don't always get. This was as described by the brochure and was fine for breakfast and snacks. Our balony overlooked both the pool, and over the complex to Avlaki bay and Albania beyond. We were not expecting any sea view, so this was nice.
The most important thing I must stress is that the apartment was CLEAN! The floors, the towels, the bedding, the fridge - everything was clean. 6 days out of 7 two very pleasant maids cleaned the rooms. Towels were changed twice a week, bedding once a week. We were told at reception that if we needed more items of linen just go and ask.
The only minor inconvenience was that with the shower tray in the bathroom emptying very slowly (Greek plumbing) and the design of the shower it's inevitable that water gets on the floor and the drain in the floor is slightly raised so the bathroom floor remains wet. They've tried to counter this by providing a mat. We used the mop and bucket positioned outside the appartment door to get rid of the water after showering. The floor soon dried.
Air conditioning and safety deposit boxes are extra, but that is the norm.
Olympic now have their own reception at Michaelangelo and from 9am to 9pm it is manned by either the lady owner or her assistant, Claudia. Both were very friendly and very helpful. The Olympic Rep, Jo, posted her hours of attendance on a noticeboard outside reception, and she was always there when she said she would be, and always very helpful. The only problem we had was that the light didn't seem to work in the bathroom. My husband reported this to Claudia at reception. she said "Fine, I'll get someone out to you now - but do you mind if I take a look first?" She came back with him straight away and located the light switch hidden behind a curtain! But at least it was dealt with immediately.
The pool and pool area was cleaned nightly, the water quality tested and chemicals added regularly - we had a birds eye view.
There is an on-site supermarket which is reasonably priced with very friendly staff. The lady owner commented to me that everyone there was like family. There is a bar, snack bar and a nice taverna running along the road that bisects the "village". This road runs down to Avlaki bay and Agios Stefanos beyond and is used by local traffic. This does include the odd lorry, as they are building some new villas on the way to Avlaki. There is a beach five minutes down the road but it is stony, so take beach shoes.
Comment was made about dogs at Michaelangelo. There are three friendly dogs around who don't bother anyone and are well cared for. they might accompany you into Kassiopi but are never a nuicance.
Kassiopi is 10 minutes walk away (down a hill on the way there, up on the way back!) and a new pavement has been installed along the main road. A free little shuttle "train" is now available to take you from the top of the hill down into the harbour - and back again, should you not feel like walking it. In the day Kassiopi is busy with tourists and boats and is a good place to watch the world and the boats go by. There are a couple of walkable shingle beaches nearby. At night Kassiopi livens up but was not "clubby" as I'd expected. Everyone socialises at night when it's cool, especially the locals and their children. There are tavernas and bars to suit everyone and it's a good place to people-watch, eat and shop.
Advice: good base to explore Corfu, hire boats, take trips. Has a lively family atmosphere.
Activities: Exploring inaccessible beaches by boat and the rest of the island by car.
Good for: Beach

Submitted By: ann & gary cooperWe set off and arrived at the airport in time for our flight which was booked for 11a.m. When we got through the through the check in we found out that our flight had been delayed but wasn't told how long for, we had to keep checking the screens.
We checked at 11 only to be told to check at 12pm for more information, we checked at 12 and told to check at 1pmand so this went on. We were eventually told that the flight was delayed untill 7pm that evening, we were given a £10 food voucher each. When we arrived at our apartments at 03.15am. we had already missed 1 of our 11 nights holiday.
The apartment was basic but cleanish, the beds were clean and so were the towels, at 10 am the cleaners knocked on the door to clean our room ( the managment should have told them about the delay which would have prevented them coming to clean the room.)
Overall the apartments wer'nt that bad the pool and pool area was clean ( although there was the odd bug or two in there at times.)during our stay my husband saw a rat but only one. the staff were helpful and our rep joanne was brill. on our last day we had to pay 35euros to move to another room till we were picked up at 02.45. kassiopi in generalis a nice place and the locals are very friendly. we met some nice people, english and greek.
a big hello to jasmin bar and one for the road we had some good nights there.
Advice: nice and friendly place to go for a holiday
Activities: jasmin bar, one for the road, tex mex, and many others.

Submitted By: nova4444The bathroom floor was dirty, the walls, floor, shower (showerhead) etc. were mouldy and half-broken, there was pubic hair on the floor and a big green bogey on the sink, which was probably the most disgusting thing we discovered in our room where we were supposed to relax and enjoy our holiday.
The mattresses were very old and seemed to only consist of metal and plastic. We had asked for a double bed and got two single beds, but this was one of our more insignificant problems.
After being shocked about the state of the room at our arrival, we spoke to the manager who promised to send the cleaner round. After that our room still looked the same, the cleaner seemed incapable of cleaning rooms, all she ever did was empty the bins.
We then spoke to our Rep who arranged for us to change rooms within the complex, which we did not expect much of since the main problem of the Michelangelo complex is the fact that it is dirty, and the cleaner is the same one for all the appartments. After about one week we were allowed to change rooms. Our new room which was one out of two newly build appartments was obviously more modern and we felt a lot more comfortable, still the room was dirty and had not been cleaned properly, also the towels and bedsheets were dirty at our arrival. The managers of the Michelangelo appartment seem to regard it as a good idea to throw used towels and bedsheets on the floor outside before they get transported to the laundry. The floor outside consists of dusty gravel and is the floor that everybody walks on, including streetdogs with skin rashes.
After changing rooms we decided to clean our new appartment ourselves before using the bathroom or the kitchen facilities, which is obviously not what you expect or look forward to doing when going on holiday.
After our disappointing experience there which we had obviously paid money for and looked forward to since it is the main holiday of the year where you expect to relax in a friendly and clean environment, I must say that the Michelangelo appartments are not 3 star, not even two star, from what we experienced they are of the standard of a run-down, dirty youth hostel. I have taken pictures of the mould on the walls and the state of the kitchenette and bathroom.
Unfortunately the managers and owners of the Michelangelo Appartments seem to have no pride in what they do.
Other than that, Corfu is a beautiful island which we discovered by car and boat which we hired. Kassiopi is a nice little village, originally a fishing village but now unfortunately mainly tourism-orientated, but still enjoyable and not half as bad as Kavos in the South of the island. We can recommend the beaches between Nissaki and Agios Stefanos, they are quiet and peaceful, with lovely white pebbles and clear blue water, some of them are very remote and not crowded with people and tavernas. the best thing is probably to discover the island and all its little coves by boat. Also we highly recommend the restaurant "Yiannis" in Kassiopi, located at one of the main beaches, it offers a relaxing atmosphere, the waiters are very friendly and the food is good. Also we recommend a restaurant which we forgot the name of, it is located at the left angle of the harbour, a little walk up the hill, the last restaurant in the row. We enjoyed the best food there.

Submitted By: Mr M BowThe maid came and cleaned the rooms 6 of the 7 days when we were there I'd say that is a good service. The staff in the snack bar were great the food was good and very cheap the lads in the bar would keep it open when we wanted a late drink again service to please anyones needs. Read the comments on this web site before we went was a little worried to say the least but all I can say to the people who have gone out of their way to slate this place they need to start booking holidays in England and see the what they get here. This place I would recommend to anyone don't always believe what you read obviously there is no pleasing some people. If you are going to here or anywhere in Corfu go with an open mind and enjoy the people and the place it's brilliant WOULD GO BACK THERE ANYTIME
