" Just returned from our 4th stay at... "

Just returned from our 4th stay at the hotel in the last 4 years and will definately be going back next year. Fantastic! Ok - its on a steep hill but thats why the views are so spectacular - day and night and especially if there is a full moon. On our first visit to the hotel we were offered the option to upgrade our room - which we took, and by all accounts its lucky that we did because the basic rooms, we are told, are "really basic", though like the rest of the hotel spotlessly clean. But all the rooms have a private balcony and this fantastic view. The food is great, lots of choice, so you can always find something you like. The dining room needs modernisation, but the hotel has slowly been transformed since our first stay, with more rooms being refurbished and the hotel reception and bar area getting a beautiful revamp - so perhaps they will make it down to the dining room by next year! ALL the staff are friendly and helpful and will do anything to help.
Beach is beautiful with three really good tavernas. The locals are very friendly - with very good restaurants (The Lord Byron) and bars (Tassos') its a real community - the only reason I didn't give it a 10 is the local bus service ends too early so if you want to travel anywhere say to Corfu Town, the last bus back is at 6.30pm so you can't really stay an have a nice supper - unless you get a cab back which can be expensive.

" Stayed in this hotel about 5 to 6... "

Stayed in this hotel about 5 to 6 years ago, found it alot better from when i stayed in 2006.
The bad things about the hotel was that there were too many czeck's and german's as the hotel had new owners.
The best time to go would be in August as the weather is beautiful and there are more brits around so you wouldnt feel home sick.
The food was okay.
It was fresh, but there wasn't much variety.
The staff were unfriendly and they didnt speak much english
There was hardly much entertainment, but i think that must have been because of the time of year i went.
The good things about the hotel was that the rooms were very clean and the pool/poolside was also cleaned out daily.
It was a good spot to build the hotel as the view is georgous!
It is situated on the pandocrator mountain.

I dont think i would ever go back unless they had new owners or i go a different time of year.

If your thinking of staying around the Barbati area then you should defainetly check out the Aqua Park, it was amazing! Probably the best thing about the holiday to be honest..

" The reception area, bar and pool area... "

The reception area, bar and pool area very nice. Staff friendly and helpful. Only had breakfast at the hotel as we found a very good taverna in Barbati (The Lord Byron). A steep climb to the hotel from Barbati but worth it for the views. The only downside was the noise made by other visitors and traffic to and from hotel during the night, around 0130 - 0430.

Beware of extras, fridge, air con, DVD, considering cost already a bit steep to say the least.

Overall: a very good place to relax and tour the island if you wish.

" Please don't be alarmed if you've... "

Please don't be alarmed if you've booked to stay here, Barbati is beautiful. We just didn't like the hotel. The food was pretty bad, so if you're going don't bother with half-board. We ate out 5 out of 7 nights as we couldn't stomach the food. I was ill on the first night due to something I ate there, it was definitely food poisoning. We did go back a couple of nights later but there was no improvement, apart from the fact I didn't throw up! For example one night there was tinned peas on the menu and jelly for pudding!

The rooms are basic and the bathroom so small! Towels and sheets were a bit grubby but we made the best of it. You can upgrade to luxury for 39 euros a night! We didn't think we ought to have to do this after what we'd already paid. They charge you for everything - fridge, air-con, table tennis, internet, Jacuzzi and all at a premium! The staff were friendly but I have to say a bit unhelpful and clueless. We wanted to get a taxi to a nearby town and she said it would be about 15 euros. the Taxi took us and we were then asked for 28 euros! I would advise always asking the driver prior to getting in; even if your hotelier has told you the price!

Overall I don't really have a good word to say about the pantocrator.

Do go to Corfu though and if you can, get yourself to the Kouloura Taverna in Kouloura. The food there is fantastic! Wonderful fish and lovely people.

" The hotel has spectacular views... "

The hotel has spectacular views although up a steep hillside. The apartments are spread in small almost individual complexes up the hillside, our room was number 510 and we had a very steep climb up and down to the main hotel reception, pool and bars.

We had a very pleasant relaxing time here. The food was basic but ok. Staff generally pleasant. Everywhere was kept very clean, rooms are basic but adequate. Air con and fridges are charged extra- we managed without- You can upgrade to luxury rooms which include air con, fridge and DVD player at a cost of 39E a night!

Barbati itself is very quiet, a few tavernas and bars. It is quite a walk to the beach especially up hill all the way back to the hotel especially when very hot. We had a very pleasant relaxing, chill out week which is exactly what we wanted.
