Hotel Korina Reviews
" We booked this as a last minute... "
Submitted By: Mrs Haylock
We booked this as a last minute holiday on the Thomson website.
We found the hotel to be very clean and tidy. The pool is lovely, not suitable for small children and the area has been refurbished with decking, ( sunbeds very uncomfortable).
However we must agree with previous comment that unless you spend time in the pool bar you felt you were not welcome. The owners were not around much during the day and there was never anyone on reception.
The hotel was half empty which was lovely but again we agree with previous comment that the doors were very loud, there is no way you can open and close them without making a noise, and we can imagine this to be a real problem in the high season.
We only had breakfast on 3 mornings as the waitress stood with her arms folded staring at you, which we found to be very uncomfortable, really couldn’t see the point of the mini bar would be better if you could use it as a fridge.
The hotel is on the beach road and again this could be very busy in the summer.

" Having visited Korina Hotel twice... "
Submitted By: Mrs S. Taylor
Having visited Korina Hotel twice now, I believe that is the ideal place for people who are laid back and just want to have a good time. The owners Dimitris and Sofia, are a lovely couple very friendly and helpful. You can find them any time of the day by the pool bar chatting and giving the guests all information needed about the island or the resort. Facilities are excellent, large pool, tennis and basket ball courts, table tennis, even a pool table.
All rooms have been refurbished this year and with facilities like minibar and safe box in the room make a difference from the usual Greek standards. Friendliness is the only word that really suits this place. The feeling that you become a part of the family is unique. Noise has not been a problem so far for us, maybe because we visit when children are still in school!
Anyhow, Hotel Korina is our ideal place to spend holidays, and fussy people might as well stay away!

" Although the level of cleanliness was... "

Although the level of cleanliness was good, the hotel in general was nothing to write home about. We had booked this hotel on the strength of the reviews on other websites and to say we were disappointed would be an understatement.
It was a very clicky place, where in the first week, everyone seemed to know everyone else. If you were not by the pool bar for 18 hours a day you were out of it. This suited us but these people by 4 or 5 in the morning were well and truly p****d and then proceeded to shout down the corridors to each other before retiring to bed.
The next day their kids, i.e. a 3 year old, were very grumpy and wined whenever they were in the room next door to us. We like kids but we went on holiday for a rest after working hard all year.
This is the noisiest hotel we have ever been to, doors banging all day long. Don't go if you want a peaceful holiday, you won't get it. The owners don't seem bothered about you if you don't spend all you time in the pool bar. It took about three days of asking just to get the air-con organised, we felt as though we were a nuisance. The lady who does breakfast though is lovely, she couldn't do enough.
The second week was much quieter, but still fairly noisy with banging doors day and night. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone because it just didn't come up to scratch compared to some of the places we have stayed throughout the Greek Islands.

" We stayed at this hotel from the 14th... "
Submitted By: Mr C B Slater
We stayed at this hotel from the 14th Aug until the 21st Aug and although generally clean and basic they don’t appear to understand basic safety.
Our room (206) had water dripping from the central light bulb onto one of the two beds, the ceiling rose was rusty yet dry. Closer inspection of the light fitting revealed that the water was actually running down the inside of the light fitting and out through the bulb holder.
We passed our observations onto the hotel management who said the room had a history of leaking during the recent storm but they thought they had rectified the problem, they would now take action to resolve the problem.
The resolution to the problem was to move the room furniture around so that the water now dripped onto a small towel placed on the floor to soak up the moisture, unfortunately this made getting into/out of bed rather difficult for the one sleeping next to the wall.
Don’t misunderstand my motives in writing this review, the staff are very friendly and in the main helpful but just lacking a bit of common sense, we are not trying to claim any compensation from our tour operator but believe that Portland Direct need to have a re-think before using this hotel again. We spoke to other guests who had other problems with the accommodation ( bad smell in room) (water running down the inside of wardrobe) so we were not alone in having problems. The holiday rep for Thompson left a lot to be desired.
