Had a week in Kolios at Hermes Apartments in September, we were blessed with beautiful weather and wonderful accommodation. The Hermes Apartments were very comfortable, extremely clean and furnished to a high standard, nothing was too much trouble for the very friendly staff.
We had all of our evening meals at their poolside restaurant because the food was first class, the chefs carbonara is to die for we had it twice (not on the same night).
The only downside for me was the very steep incline and steps to get to our apartment as there was no lift and we were on the top floor. I am not in my first flush of youth so I found it quite hard, but that is my only grumble, that is the only reason I have not given it a ten.
We would consider going back because of the lovely apartments and staff but we would ask for a ground floor room, but then saying that we would not have the lovely view that we had from our balcony. Great holiday would recommend.

Me and my partner had a great time here. Apartments very nice and very clean.
Bar and food very good many a drunken night in the bar with Kristos and George!
Beach opposite good, but take the bus to other beaches.
Skiathos town was good with plenty of bars and restaurants. Weather just right, nice and sunny.
People very friendly and the shop by the apartments well stocked.

Comfortable apartments spotlessly clean. These apartments are off the one and only main road at quite a steep incline, might be a problem for some people but not for us.
The bar and restaurant area at the poolside and pool area are kept spotlessly clean.
We hired a jeep locally on the end of the first week but there are buses and taxis all the time.
Sometimes the taxi drivers can become a nuisance if you need to catch a bus they do get a bit pushy. Bus fare - 1 Euro; Taxi fare anything from 3 - 5 Euros negotiable. Taxis have air con. Buses don't. Buses travel at a reasonable speed, taxis don't.
Skiathos Island is a reasonable size and well worth exploring even with two teenage sons. Get a map from the shop below the apartments (lovely and friendly stock almost all your needs).
The only difficulty we found was getting the lads out of the water, whether on the numerous beaches (all within easy reach) or the pool at the Hermes Apartments.
The weather in May was lovely and warm, the beaches weren't too crowded but some of the tavernas weren't open on some beaches, so you had to prepare yourself with plenty of food and drink if you were to stay on a beach all day. The sea was a pleasant temperature compared to the UK.
We'd go back again tomorrow given the chance.

We went on holiday to Skiathos in Greece in July 2006 for 14 nights. My partner, my 2 year old son and I stayed at Hermes Apartments in Kolios which is just outside of Skiathos town. This was our second visit to Skiathos and we completely fell in love with it when we first went there so we had to go back again.
The apartments we were staying in were lovely, it was clean and the staff are very friendly. The maids would come every day to see if you wanted the room cleaning and would bring clean towels and sheets. We had a studio to sleep 2-3 and in the kitchenette everything was supplied such as pots and pans, plates and cutlery. Some nights we did stay in and cook our own food which was nice. There was a wood fire restaurant right by the swimming pool so some nights we ate there and the food was gorgeous, they had a wide selection of Greek food and some English. The frappes are lovely!
We love Skiathos, it is ideal for families and couples and there is nightlife but on the other side of the harbour so if you don't fancy going to a club or a bar the noise doesn't affect you if you are eating or just want to relax. The people are very friendly and they love children. I would definitely recommend Skiathos.
