Just returned from a lovely week at Kassandra hotel/apartments . After reading other reviews I did have reservations but I am very happy to report that we will certainly be returning.
Lets start with the negative. Kitchen and bathroom dated and large TV in room is unnecessary (who wants to watch TV on such a beautiful island).
Now for the positive. The rooms are spotless and cleaned daily also towels are changed daily.
Two pools with baby pools right beside them all of which are kept very clean.
Taverna on site overlooks the back pool (perfect for keeping an eye on the kids). With an open kitchen, serving exceptional home cooked food, and with the best prices in the area it’s the best option for breakfast lunch dinner or snacks.
There are two bars one of which is quieter and the other is where the entertainment takes place (best of both worlds).
Children’s soft play area is ideally located near the bar and taverna (again perfect for keeping an eye on the little ones).
The biggest seller for this accommodation is the wonderful mix of staff and the excellent service they provide. Reception, cleaning staff , waiters, bar staff and even maintenance staff make you feel extremely welcome and nothing is too much trouble.
There was a fantastic mix of nationalities staying here and we came away with new friends from Sweden, Denmark, Scotland, England and a few from home in N.Ireland too.
I thank Manolis and his staff for making our week in Rhodes so memorable. We will be with you again next year.

I went to this hotel for a family holiday in 2009 , we chose this hotel because it looked like a nice place to stay and the price was considerably low.
Everything was going well 1 week into the holiday , untill my niece - 15 years of age , went swimming in the hotel pool , underneath the water with her uncle .
There was a glass pool light .
Firstly , pool lights SHOULD NOT be glass , they should be plastic for safety .
Secondly , the light was smashed and none of the staff did anything about it .
My niece went down under the water , and did not realise the light was there and that it was smashed . She leaned up against the side of the pool where the glass was and pushed herself off it . The glass cut her elbow open , and she had to have beetween 7 - 11 stitches .
Just thank god we got health insurance before we went , other our bill would of been sky high !!!!

I have just returned from Kassandra that I attended with my partner and 15 year old daughter. This is a prefect base if you want somewhere near to Rhodes but not at the same prices. The appartments are very basic, and not ideal if you are wanting to cook and eat in your rooms. The water is often luke warm but as it is very hot here at the resort, it does not cause a problem. The rooms are cleaned daily, clean towels, bedding. 2 pools so never overcrowded The reception staff are not friendly at all, but everyone else that worked there couldnt do enough for you. The food is nice in the restaurant and very cheap, and plenty of places all within a short walking distance to eat and drink. Platon, Cactus and Knights of old are all really great places to eat. Cheap jet skiing just down the road. Bus stop into Rhodes just a few minutes walk away and Rhodes is a great place to visit. Lovely harbour, castle and boat trips. None of us wanted to come home. Our 2nd visit there.

We have just returned from a fortnights’ holiday at the Kassandra Hotel/Apartments (July 2010) which we were concerned were going to be uncomfortable and dirty from the majority of reports included on this site.
We are delighted to report that the experience was not as predicted but quite the opposite.
Anyone who has gone to Greece will know that the accommodation standard is not comparable to the UK.
The hotel does not profess to be 5 star and it is a bit dated and basic but is very clean and a great base for exploring the island. Towels were changed daily, sheets probably a couple of times a week, air conditioning effective although pricey at 6 euro a night and the apartment cleaned everyday with thorough floor sweeping and washing and the maid was a gem.
We had requested a quiet room and this was definitely the case apart from some idiotic neighbours on the last night! I feel sure that the staff would not allow this to continue as they were very apologetic about the occurrence. We found the staff to be very helpful if we asked them any questions although not intrusive and they were keen to know that we liked their island.
The foyer and bars were well presented and the waiters friendly and helpful – there was a full selection of food but we found the bars along the front of Ialyssos had an excellent selection and were very varied themselves – the front is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel to a stony but clean beach.
I was delighted to find that there was internet access for a small fee and wireless internet for those with suitable equipment.
We had a two bedroom apartment – one of the bedrooms had a top gap at the dividing wall into the main room of about a foot but this didn’t cause us any issues as the other bedroom was self contained. We had a balcony which was fine for size and looked out on the main road, although a fair distance away, with various large trees hiding the road and the rest of the hotel. We did not see any large bugs as described elsewhere. There were chairs and a small table on the balcony and plenty of other chairs around the table in the living area – this was on the interior of the building so rather dark and dingy.
We hired a car from Hertz about 15 minutes away and they like to deliver which we did not know about. The bus is freely available into Rhodes town from which you can access the other side of the island but they are very crowded. Taxis are not too expensive but go to the taxi rank at the beach front to save paying extra for a booking from the hotel. The car enabled us to get food from the Carrefour just down the road – there is a superb bakery in walking distance and the hotel supermarket has a small stock of the essential items.
Beds are comfortable and there is plenty of storage for clothing.
We had a television showing a mixture of programmes including a very interesting weather report - it has to be seen to be believed!
We had a few niggling problems which others may find helpful:-
The toilets are prone to problems in Greece and because of the water pressure the flush was ineffective every now and again – we found a bucket of water did the trick although trying to request one was fun!
The hotel staff turned off the air conditioning earlier than paid for and during the day if they knew you were out for long – so don’t tell the maid where you are going!
There was no airer available so a few problems rigging up a line but not impossible to cope with.
The hot water is rarely hot only lukewarm which could be a problem if going in a colder part of the year or with small children.
There are only two electric rings available for cooking and a kettle and fridge with freezer compartment – self-catering in camping style is therefore possible and we did this on alternate nights but it does require some imagination. The work surface is very small and the crockery limited to a few vital items but still very clean.
To summarize then, the Kassandra Hotel/Apartments is an excellent base for exploring the island of Rhodes and, although there are a few difficulties associated with staying in the budget hotel, we didn’t find they interfered with our enjoyment and we would not hesitate to return again. We had a fabulous holiday and everyone else seemed to be having a great time. The entertainment was well received and available at no cost and the waiter’s even joined in the karaoke!

I have just returned from a relaxing one week stay at Kassandra Apartments with my 14 year old son.We both had a lovely relaxing week there. The apartments themselves a re basic but very clean and tidy with maid service daily making sure the rooms were cleaned every day.
The staff at the apartments were very friendly and the service at the reception and bar areas were second to none.
Even though it was high season it wasnt over busy and there were plenty of sunbeds around the pools which were lovely and clean and cleaned daily.
I would recommend these apartments to anyone who enjoys a relaxing break in the sun and would definitely stay here again.

I have just returned from a week at the Kassandra Apartments and loved it. After reading a lot of negative reviews I was actually drading going but it was great,Yes rooms are basic but everywhere in Greece is. The rooms were quite spacious and were immaculate, the cleaners were in every single day and done a great job. The air conditioning broke a couple of times but we informed recepton and got it fixed straight away. The pools are excellent and bar staff very friendly. The food at the Taverna was great I had something different every day and loved eveything. Ignore all the bad reviews you read about this place as it was an excellent holiday and I would definately go back.

This was our first visit to Rhodes or Greece so we weren't sure exactly what to expect, but choosing Kassandra turned out to be a good move. We always try to holiday just before or after high season, when everything is geared up but visitor numbers are lower. Please bear that in mind when reading the review.
Location: Kassandra is located between the tourist centres of Ixia (main road, turn left, 20-30 minutes walk)and Trianda (main road, turn right, 10 minutes walk). The tourist places in Ixia are mostly spread out along the road to service the large hotels there and looked fairly uninspiring. With that and the longish walk, we gave it miss and stuck to Trianda, which worked out fine. There are the usual assortment of restaurants, bars, mini-markets and trinket shops. There's plenty of variety among these to suit all tastes, with a mix of traditional taverna's/restaurants and more lively restaurants, sprtsbars, pubs and karaoke bars. However, there's not really much in the way of nightlife - the place is essentially dead from midnight on.
The beach can be reached by turning left at the apartment entrance and following the side road for 10 minutes or so, when you hit the beach directly next to a rather nice restaurant called 'Bellissimo'. The beach at that point is mixed sand/shingle, loungers are available close by. The resort is on the windy side of Rhodes, though, which makes for a fairly choppy sea. Generally, we stayed at the pool and saved the sea swimming for excursions.
On the main road there are bus stops virtually outside the Kassandra, with a fairly regular bus service. One person costs 2.10 euros to Rhodes city centre. One leson we learned was to take advantage of this to arrange our own excussions, rather than relying on Olympic's overpriced and underwhelming offerings.
One thing that some may find disconcerting is that Trianda is close by the flightpath into Rhodes airport. It only really bothered us for a day or so - after that watching the airliners come in close enough to see the livery became quite fascinating and itself part of the holiday.
There are several cashpoints scattered about the crossroads between Kassandra and the turn off to the main tourist centre of Trianda, so cash can be picked up en-route to the fun, rather than having to go out of your way.
Kassandra: We can testify that Kassandra's famously poker-faced reception staff are still going strong. On an island where smiles and courtesy seem to naturally radiate from everyone, a major effort was clearly needed to assemble this crack team of miserable gits. Our room key was handed out and taken back without a hint of interest in our arrival or departure. In between, our every leaving or return met the same unblinking stare. Smiles and greetings were ignored. Luckily for us, we never had to test their customer care skills anymore than that.
Fortunately, the rest of the staff there were spot on. The cleaners were polite and helpful. Towels were changed daily and bedding every two days. The bathroom and toilet were cleaned daily and the floor swept. The 'Taverna Socrates' staff were always polite and cheerful and George is a star.
The accomodation itself was basic, but clean and perfectly fine for the rating/price range. We were in the 'old' block above reception and had only a few minor problems with the room. The shower head had seen better days and the shower curtain was not up to the job - every shower left the bathroom a paddling pool and getting a hot or warm shower was a matter of luck. After flushing the toilet you had to jiggle the handle to get the flush to stop. Mosquitos were a nuisance and screen doors (or mosquito nets!) would have been nice. There was air-con available for a supplement, but we gave it a miss - the unit is in the living room and we kept the bedroom door/window shut to keep the mossies at bay.
The self-catering facilities were also basic - a two-ring hob, kettle and assorted pots, pans etc. After a couple of days SC however, we found that it was cheaper eating breakfast & lunch over at the restaurant than buying the stuff ourselves. After that the kettle was the only thing we used. The bedroom was clean, the beds were OK and there was plenty of storage space.
The room had a fairly good balcony view, but a look at the other blocks suggests that when the place is full a fair few balcony views consist of nothing but the block opposite or the main road.
All-in-all we were happy with the accomodation - the old block rooms could probably use a sprucing up to remove a few little niggles, but there was nothing that spoiled our enjoyment. The newer blocks, we can't comment on, but their pull-down shutters had us quite envious.
The amenities on site include a mini-market, which was handy for grabbing little things. However, turn left on the main road and a 5-10 minute walk brings you to a couple of better (and cheaper) shops, plus a bakery. Coin-operated pay-as-you-go internet access is available in reception and the taverna, at 16 minutes for 1 euro.
The 'Taverna Socrates' has a very reasonably priced breakfast/lunch menu which runs up to around 5pm, when the evening menu takes over. We never tried the evening one, as we always ate out (usually at Alkioni's), but we used the daytime one and were quite happy with it. The bar itself was pricey, but no worse than the rest of the resort. With Kassandra's clientele consisting mainly of families/older couples while we were there, the bar could sometimes be very quiet of a night. The multi-national karaoke was a very lively night, however. The bar staff seemed perfectly willing to serve for as long as anyone wanted to sit in there, but the make-up of the clientele meant there was zero in the way of early-hours anti-social antics whilst we were there. The guests consisted of a fair few British, many Dutch, with the rest a mixture of Poles, Swedes and a few others. Even with the World Cup in progress, everyone got along just fine. Contrary to one claim we've seen on the net, the blocks are not segregated by nationality.
There are two pools. We used the one at the front of the taverna, which is an OK size and has a deep/shallow end. The loungers were in good condition with plenty of umbrellas for the easily burned. The pool area and pool itself was kept clean. With Kassandra not full there was usually space to spare and no need to be out at dawn with the towels. In high season this could change, however. The front pool also has a small paddling pool for young children. There is another pair of big and childrens pools to the rear of the restaurant, together with a grassed area and swings etc. However, we can't personally testify about that one.
When all is said and done, we would definitely go back to Kassandra for our next holiday in Rhodes. Younger couples or singles groups looking for wild beach'n'booze action will probably find Kassandra too quiet and Trianda far too tame for their liking. For older couples or families with young children seeking a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere we would suggest taking a look at Trianda and would recommend the Kassandra based on our stay there.

Been there before and done that; so why do we keep returning? All the negative reviews miss the point which is you get what you pay for. The hotel is clean, cheap, pools are excellent, service is splendid and the coast is far cooler than the other side of the island; all this and George in the bar. In the end just how much time do you spend in the holidasy hotel? So go and enjoy!

Hello Travelers
I have just spent 14 days at the Kasandra Hotel and enjoyed every minute of it.
I have read in some of the other coments that there is nothing special about the hotel, well I found all of the staff very polite and helpfull. The food in the hotel cafe was excellent and as resonably priced as any were else in Trianda, and believe me my wife and I tried a few of the Taverna food places and had two that were not so good.
The rooms were cleaned and left spotless everyday of our stay and the entertainment was as good as you will get in Greece, though I must say that the Greek Dance Night was brilliant. I have never seen a more proffessional Greek band.
Two spotless pools and two pool bars and plenty of room for children. I have travelled to many places in Greece and would give, as I have ten out of ten for the Kasandra and thier all of thier staff.

hotel is ok nothing special , the desk staff are a bit short with you but the cleaners are spot on , bar staff are quite freindly too, drinks are quite dear but all in all it's
at best OK you will enjoy yourself if you can overlook the hotels dated facilities.
Just over the road you can get the bus to rhodes town and from there a free bus takes you to the water park! do not get conned by the rep into going with them ! they will charge you 13 or more eurosto take you when it's 2 euros to Rhodes then free!!...
If you like modern facilities and helpful interested hotel staff with a friendly welcoming atmosphere then this isn't for you! we are an undemanding family so we just got on with it however we wouldn't go back to the Kassandra
