Hotel Description:

The Hotel Bitzaro Palace is a fine example of Zakynthos’ growing selection of friendly, small-to-medium-sized, family-run hotels. The spacious rooms are housed in four three-storey buildings set around the attractive pool area. This hotel suits couples and families wanting a stylish yet informal base near a good beach.

" The hotel itself was very clean,... "

The hotel itself was very clean, however it was also very quiet. Six of us holidayed from 22nd Sept for one week. Rooms were spacious and cleaned every day by friendly staff. Food was plentiful if a little overcooked at times and staff very efficient. It was clear the hotel was coming to the end of the season as the bar was very limited and wasn't going to be stocked up despite other holiday makers arriving. This is not a hotel for the young as there was no entertainment during our stay. The Bitzarro Grand is a short walk away and were able to utilise their facilities when we wanted to. The surrounding hotels do actually throw their doors open and welcome you, and the ones we frequented were only a short walk away. Kalamaki is basically one road of shops and bars and Lagana, which was just up the road, was a dump. The beach nearest the hotel has restrictions on it due to the Turtles laying their eggs there, eg, from 7pm to 7am you couldn't go on it. I would advise anyone who goes to Zante to do the Turtle Cruise as we all enjoyed this a lot. It is a little expensive but well worth it and you do get a very good lunch thrown in. The weather was also hit and miss. We experienced some torrential downpours and some very warm sun also.

" Bitzaro Palace was one of the most... "

Bitzaro Palace was one of the most relaxing and beautiful holiday resorts I have been to before!

The staff are very friendly (especially the room cleaners!).

Excellent place to stay close to high street, airport and beach!

Beaches very clean and tidy. Loggheaded turtles there and the Kalamaki beach are right on the flight path so this holiday is excellent for plane spotting!

You can get boat tours out to Turtle island (where the turtles live!).

Big restaurant, garden, pool and pub!

Good news to clubbers, there are a lot of night clubs! As well as night clubs you have pubs, parks and millions of shops!

Lovely place to stay 10/10 rating - go now!

" Booked with Libra holidays and didn't... "

Booked with Libra holidays and didn't reckon much to their service - would recommend booking direct with the hotel, I've heard it's much cheaper.

As a family we had a fantastic time made as such by absolutely fantastic staff, wonderful food and great hotel (probably the best on Zante). The beach was only a short walk away and was clean, very warm and great for kids with a long sloping shore line. There are planes that fly very close overhead, however this was entertaining for the kids and not at all distracting from our experience.

Yannis on reception ALWAYS had a smile for us and NOTHING was ever too much trouble for any of the staff, they seemed to work non-stop as we saw them every day from 8am until midnight! The hotel was very clean and modern and was very organised. Some reviews have mentioned that mealtimes are a nightmare. We did not find this to be true, just chill out and go with the flow!! The food was different for every meal and something on offer for everyone and tasted great.

The entertainment was basic but fun. Jane was especially good with the children, with our 21 month old son taking a particular shine to her. We were very impressed with this hotel and would definitely come back again.

Its just a shame we had to come home. Oh and dare I mention the airport? Just be prepared to take some playing cards, something to sit on and patience - and DON'T buy food or drink - £10 for 4 cans of drink!! Don't let it ruin your holiday though, it's just very small - anyway the new terminal building looks almost finished!

Have a great time, we did. The Couchman family

" From Mr Gary "Mr Bitzaro", Joanne and... "

From Mr Gary "Mr Bitzaro", Joanne and Gabrielle from Rochdale 24th May – 31st May 2007.

You are looking at one of the best hotels we have stayed in Greece all inclusive – this hotel really stands up well to its star rating – from Dennis (Yannis) on reception to the animation team of Johan and Tina also Nikki on the snack bar you will find a welcoming energetic, enthusiastic, warm and basically a dam right cracking holiday.

You have will dine cosmopolitan buffet style – and yes the “gastronome” holiday makers will note that all the food is fresh, ideas are created as the week goes on and you will never be disappointed – and if you’re a full English sort of person we would recommend getting out of the comfortable beds for the 8-10am breakfast.

The pool area is a real suntrap, with banging tunes (from Paris to Berlin etc) – it was cracking the flags in May – so take plenty of sunscreen for July onwards – and don’t forget to play killer pool, killer darts, and the cocktail game during the day – think it should be named killer cocktail to fit in with Johan’s incredible sense of humour (he can speak 5 languages and ladies he’s fit as a butchers dog).

About trips – well you know the score – sort them out yourself and save money – also if you are on a budget always get a taxi as 10 Euros takes you every ware – just say before you get in.

The airport is the pits – seriously its like an ex Luftwaffe base so be prepared for third world – and do all the transfers by a taxi to save being ripped off by the coach.

You will have a hell of a holiday at the Bitzaro – and will be singing “I am too sexy for my shirt” and "is this the way to Kalamaki".

And also when you go tell them Mr Gary sent you.

" Had a great holiday. The hotel was... "

Had a great holiday. The hotel was clean, good choice of food and staff very friendly.

The beach which was only 5 mins walk from the hotel was lovely and not very busy. The resort had a good selection of bars and shops.

We used to go to Pastry & Percs cocktail bar every night. The owner was very friendly and the music he played was very good.

The only down side was the airport, which was very small but it would not put us off going back again.

I would recommend this hotel and resort to anyone as it was nice and relaxed.

" The hotel was spotless, food great... "

The hotel was spotless, food great and staff were very friendly and helpful with the exception of the owner (who seems to be a little too rude to be a hotel manager). Having said this if you are looking for a traditional Greek Island holiday this isn't the resort to visit. Much of the resort was centred around a busy strip of bars with sky T.V., most of them showing sport and a number of tourist shops selling a mixture of tat with not much authentic Greek feeling to them.

Also, avoid the resort out of season. Most of the local trips had stopped before we arrived and many of the bars had also closed. This was a little disappointing as there was no warning of this in the brochures.

" Booked last minute with travel... "

Booked last minute with travel republic, flights were with My Travel, no problems there we were early both on outward and return journey, first time we have flown with them and would definitely recommend them as a very efficient and friendly airline.

The hotel was in our rating 10 out of 10, friendly, very clean, good location 5 min to strip, 10 mins to beach, very good food and spotlessly clean, in fact faultless.

I would definitely recommend this hotel for a nice restful holiday, it was close to airport but the flights weren’t intrusive and we enjoyed the plane spotting and they had no night flights.

" We had a pool view room which was... "

We had a pool view room which was comfortable - air conditioning was great. Staff were fantastic and have been at the hotel for years.

We spoke to couples who have been returning year after year - we may be returning in 2007. Beach isn't white sand tropical type, but we found it clean, plenty of sun beds and warm clean sea. Resort had a few karaoke bars if that’s your scene, but we preferred to find a quiet bar for a cocktail and a beer.

Food at the hotel is 5 star - you can't go wrong with this hotel.

" What a nightmare, don’t get me... "

What a nightmare, don’t get me wrong the hotel was beautiful and the staff very helpful, but that’s as far as it goes, the beach is a good half a mile from the hotel not 100 metres and it is stinking, its stinking because I don’t think it has ever been cleaned, that’s because of the turtles, the resort itself is nothing, very little live entertainment in fact zero, just one long road with pubs and shops which I found pathetic.

This is the reason I hired a car, what an experience its a nightmare, you have young kids riding around on these quad bikes doing wheelies its a nightmare, kids on scooters also bombing it down the road, its a miracle that nobody was killed when I was there, I will never go back there not for all the tea in china, the airport is also a nightmare no system whatsoever, when I got back to Cardiff me and thirty other people were told that our luggage was not put on the plane and the captain was aware of this, it took three days for my luggage to turn up.

Never again, I suggest that anyone out there who is contemplating going to Kalamaki or Zante for that matter, seriously thing again, before you go through what I had to endure.

" Excellent friendly hotel, situated... "

Excellent friendly hotel, situated ten minute walk from the beach. Rooms were spotless and cleaned daily.

Good air con system in each room. Hotel grounds pool and interior were also very clean, modern and well maintained. Food was good with nice variety however the local restaurants are cheap and worth a visit. Hotel was situated down a dirt track type of road which was safe, yet I would not go along it myself.

Kalamaki is a good resort and we saw very few lager louts!! Unlike neighbouring Laganas!!!!! Avoid it if you hate Blackpool. You won't be disappointed here... the staff are a joy!
