Athina Apts.

Athina apartments were very clean and tidy, very spacious, family run apartments. Dennis the manager was very friendly.
We have been there twice but to be honest I would not stay there again as the hotel/ apartments Cronulla across the road was better as it has air-con, a pool, a bar, a restaurant and we spent most of our time there. Although the Athina is a cheap and cheerful place, the Cronulla is well worth the extra couple of quid!

Good apartments overall - basic but if you get a room under the shops, restaurants above can be a bit noisy.
Does get very hot at night so a fan would be very useful. Resort is amazing - would recommend trip to Olympia Brilliant!!
Check residents book - there is an entry from us for a restaurant just up the road, they were absolutely great with my son and could not do enough, also the jewellery shop owner was very helpful.

Just come back from 11 days in Zakinthos and I have to say that I had a fantastic time. The Athina Apartments are fine very basic but very clean and very spacious.
Be aware that there is not air condition, you can hire a fan for 15euro per week, but it does get very hot during the night. The staff are very friendly they clean every day and change linen every two.
We had a small problem with the kitchen sink, we report it in the evening and the morning after was dealt with. The Athina are very close to the high street where you can find loads of shop, restaurants, and pubs and the beach is just 10 min walk. At the beach you can hire two sunbeds and a parasol for 7 euro a day.
We didn’t use the sunbeds so the second day we just bought one parasol in one of the many shops on the high street for 7.50euro and saved loads of money. When we left we passed it on to our new next door tourists.
The Athina apartments don’t have a swimming pool but that is not a problem at all as you can use any other swimming pool for free and there is loads around. I use to go to Cronulla hotel or Vanessa Hotel just across the road.
We hire a car for two days for 60euro and went around the island , if you can is really worth it . We reach some really stunning beaches and we went up the mountains were you can find the view is just amazing.
If you got kids don’t miss the day at the aqua village. We had really loads of fun there, they got 9 different slides for grownups and kids and some different slides for the smaller kids.
I would recommend this holiday to anyone, and I would definitely have no problem in going back in the same place.
One last thing, if you buy any postcard make sure you buy the stamps at the same time, we couldn’t find shop selling only the stamps, and if they do they charge more!!

Upon arrival we had visitors using our toilet, when I got into my room I was used as a local blood bank by mosquitoes due to maids leaving room open.
I had a 8 month old baby and was given a room over a shop that didn't close until 3 am, and then put his music on until 4 am, the room I was given overlooked 5 bird nests and the answer to the mess was put a black bag under it, the stench was horrendous.
When I went out the 1st night we took our clothes out of the wardrobe to find they had bleached inside the wardrobe and half our clothes got ruined, the owner did apologise with some cakes, didn't help with the fact I lived with 2 blouses for 2 weeks. Because of the mosquitoes we kept the doors closed but that made the room damp then we had a problem with mould on the walls.
The rooms had very very basic equipment for s/c, no table and chairs so eat either outside or on your beds. The bathrooms are unkept the whole place is run down.
For a extra £40 each we could have stayed at the Iona blue which I heard was lovely, wish we had, Kalamaki as a whole is a lovely place the apartments ruined my holiday I would give them a miss!

Have been to Zante 5 times stayed at the Athina 3 times and would not hesitate to go back.
In fact have been searching the net for another week away and most likely be back here, even though only been home 2 weeks, possibly at the end of June.
People are very friendly, place is spotless, location excellent. The bars and pools nearby have no objection to you using their facilities.
Cannot fault the Athina apartments well worth a visit.
Beach beautiful especially if you are lucky enough to see turtles, which we did...awesome!

The Athina apartments was an amazing place for young adults to go. The manager, Dennis, was a great host and extremely helpful.
The rooms were simple but spacious and fulfilled its needs. The apartments are 5 minutes away from the golden sandy beach, and only 10 minutes taxi drive away from the club scene. I would recommend these apartments for anyone who is looking to go on a fair price holiday with great night life and plenty of activities to do in the day!

The Athina apts in Kalamaki are like prison cells! I thought I had gone back to the 1970's when we walked into the apartment!
We had to make our own beds, the door leading to the apartment was just a glass sliding door which opened quite easily without a key and the bathroom was the pits of the earth, with the shower head hanging out of the wall and the head itself rusty as hell and NO shower curtain.
I have written to the tour operator 3 times and the fight is still ongoing. We paid £320 each self catering, for what can only be described, as the worst holiday I have ever been on, and I’ve been on a lot!
Kalamaki itself is ok if you want to drink yourself stupid and sing karaoke all night, but if you’re looking for a bit of culture this is NOT the place to go to, however the island of Zante itself is beautiful.
The price doesn't sound much to some people but in the February, I went to Mexico 5 star ALL inclusive for £650! I suggest you do the same!
The Athina Apartments in Kalamaki should be knocked down and rebuilt to the standards holiday makers expect in this day of age! Don't do it, there are much, much nicer places to go to!

Very attractive exterior, rooms very basic, floors and walls were filthy. The biggest problem was from the fire club situated directly across the road. They played very loud techno dance music usually until at least 3.30am but sometimes until 5am. It was too hot to close the doors completely so we had no sleep!
The owners were friendly but we thought the charge for security boxes and fans steep (15euros each per week). The resort was lovely and the food gorgeous. Would go back to resort but not to Athina.

This holiday was very good value for money the Athina Apartments are basic but comfortable and the staff are friendly. Our party of 9 (4 adults, 2 teenagers & 3 under 10's) all had a fabulous time.
We didn't have our own swimming pool but everywhere makes you welcome at theirs. We loved the Ionian Blue Hotel just a short walk towards the beach & the Vanessa Pool just over the road. Our rooms were directly above a couple of restaurant on the main strip which wasn't a problem, we still enjoyed sitting on the balcony and the double glazed doors and extra shutters helped to keep the road & bar noise to a minimum.
It didn't keep us awake. We can't wait to return.
