We have stayed at this hotel twice. On our first stay (2006) we had a room facing the rail way station which yes was abit noisy but well you dont spend all day in your room. we did go in the busiest time of the year though. Our second visit (2007) we had a pool side view with balcaony which was a beauitful view.
The food the second stay was a liitle bit disappointing but i think this was down to the company being changed over. In regards to other comments about miserable staff, yes the recpetion staff can be slightly miserable but we have never had a bad thing to say about the waiting staff. At the end of the day if you worked 15+ hour days in scortching heat wouldnt you be abit miserabe!!!
The pool area is very relaxing and clean and tidy as are the rooms and other areas of the hotel.
Local attractions are nice and all have good and regular public transport.
Me, my partner and our two friends are planning another 10 day break new year 2008. cant wait!
Your holiday is only what you make of it!!!

we stayed in this hotel in the end of june we couldnt have picked a better hotel. Is was across from the beach and had shops bars and restaurants all close by. A bus went every 20 mins from outside the hotel to both salou and cambrills. The food was good and when you had half board you could either have lunch or dinner depending on what suited you on the day and the selection for breakdfast set you up for most of the day. We had our 2 kids aged 4 and 7 and granny and grandad also came along it suited us all as there was entertainment for kids early evening and then entertainment for adults . I found everything very clean about this hotel including the pool and the only small downfall it had the kids were not allowed any inflateables in the pool but apart from that it was excellent. If you want to be in the middle of all the buzz then stay in salou itself but if you want abit of peace this is the hotel and is olny minutes from salou. Im trying to get this hotel for my hasband and i for a 4day break end of april as its our anniversary!

Went to Cambrils Princess Hotel in Sept and can honestly say we would never go there again.
We booked through Thomson and it was under "family friendly" category, this was definitely not the case. The food was awful and not catered to toddlers so my youngster (14 months) lived on weetabix (brought from local shop) and bananas.
The smallest swimming pool meant for children was filthy and god knows what was floating in there as all ages used it!!
The room was very basis and not what I consider to be a 4 star, the reception staff were very ignorant of the English, - and it’s a VERY German hotel with very few English guests. The hotel is smack bang in the middle of the town Cambrils and Salou. Cambrils very Spanish and not catered as a resort for foreigners and Salou was a glorified Blackpool.
We all got food poisoning too (this was only a 7 day holiday) and we're not certain where we got this from as we decided to eat out after 2 days of being there.
Overall as far as we're concerned we would be very happy not to step foot in Spain again, last words avoid this hotel!

We went to this hotel on the 11th September 2007 and found it quite a pleasant hotel, if a tad run-down. There were rumours of a takeover by another group that had another hotel just up the road, which may have affected the morale of some of the staff but, generally they were a cheerful lot and helpful if you asked them something.
Javier, Raul and Antonio in the main bar and pool bar couldn't do enough for you and the same with another chap whose name I didn't get, bit of a comedian too!
The restaurant was run in much the same way as other Spanish hotels we've been to and, like them, you soon work out the best times to go for the evening meal and breakfast to avoid queues - sometimes it's a bit chaotic but generally good-natured with good intent.
Food was fine as far as we were concerned although, sometimes they did have some odd descriptions or strange-looking desserts but there was always something from quite a good range and, to be honest, you would have to be very picky indeed to be unable to find anything!
The beach was literally across the road and very clean with a beach bar and sun beds, although we found them a bit uncomfortable. The sea was amazingly warm too, considering the time of year. Beach vendors drive you mad if you let them so just smile and say "No thanks" and they go away. I said to one "It's all rubbish" and he replied "It's NOT rubbish!" so they have taken the trouble to learn English and some of them do have some quite nice stuff.
There's a little supermarket opposite in the Edificio Colibri and we used them all the time. They even did a "beach kit" of sandwich, cake and a drink for four euros!
The hotel itself is more in Villafortuny - about half-way between Cambrils and Salou.
Cambrils seems more genteel and a bit more upmarket than Salou. Bit pricey in the restaurants too. Salou is a bit like Benidorm but not so brash as Benidorm can be - full of British bars, clubs, restaurants and even a small supermarket! The fountains and laser show at the weekends at 10 o'clock were really good so get there early.
The promenades run all the way from Cambrils itself (and beyond probably) right through to Salou so you can take an evening stroll in either direction from the hotel in the evenings.
The hotel's entertainment was quite good as far as we saw, (especially the flamenco - brilliant!) although we went out most evenings to local bars, like the Mucky Duck, Molly Malone's (cheap!) Fred's Bar (Welsh), the Rugby Tavern (I think!) or the Beer Factory (Spanish but excellent beers, wines and food).
All I can say is that we had a great holiday and would definitely go again.

Rooms were not cleaned well at all. Food was very good but often the food was cold, especially the jacket potatoes. The staff should have enforced the rule of men not being allowed to wear shorts in the restaurant in the evenings, it looked very scruffy especially with the english wearing their fav. football shorts which they had worn to the beach all day!
Walked to Cambrils and Salou, took approx 45 mins, although more shops in Salou they were tacky and overpriced. Cambrils is much prettier and it is great sitting in the harbour watching the boats coming in and out.
Overall the weather was great, eating in the Mucky Duck was great fun, pool very cold, but lovely and clean, staff in reception were unfriendly and unhelpful. Might be a better hotel when they are taken over by Best Hotels later in 2007.
BEWARE OF THIEVES SLITTING YOUR HANDBAGS WITH A RAZOR BLADE, A LOT OF IT GOING ON ESPECIALLY AT THE BUS STOPS.

I do feel that many of the reviews can be separated in two; those who stayed on the poolside of the hotel and those who could literally stretch out and touch the train as I passed on the track outside their room. Unfortunately my partner and myself fall into the latter category.
Once arriving at the hotel the reception area etc is indeed very clean and impressive, but once you reach you very small double room you do feel a little disappointed. Not many hotels actually have the curtains drawn in the room before you enter, but I was not surprised once you see the view from them.
We took many trips to ensure that we had to spend as little time in the hotel as possible, and in all honesty this was the saving grace of this holiday! Barcelona is a wonderful city that I would return to, and Montserrat is beautiful!
Overall if you decide that you would like to visit this part of the world it is beautiful, but don't stay in this hotel.

We enjoyed our stay at the Cambrils Princess, I think soon to be renamed The Cambrils Hotel. We stayed for 2 weeks 10th -24th July 07.
We were very pleased to have a room at the front facing the pool as there are some facing the railway at the back and some close to the busy road. Out of 14, we had 1 day of rain and 3 of cloud.
The staff we found were not particularly cheerful, the bar staff worked hard but never smiled.
The food was good with lots of choice but the desserts were something else! One of them consisted of a tray of custard with whole rich tea biscuits on top! The pool is excellent with a small baby pool, then a large area for younger kids and also a large deep area. You are supposed to pay a deposit for parasols too.
Brits are definitely in the minority at this hotel and most of the evening entertainment was in Spanish.
There are frequent busses from the stops outside which we used a lot. From here we went to Salou, Cambrils, Port Aventura, Caribe Water Park, and Barcelona. The parks are fabulous, get to Caribe early though as they are not that many sun loungers. You have to pay for those and also the inflatable rings.
Port Aventura is amazing, though it was boiling hot when we went, we stayed from 10am to 12pm. You can buy a cheaper evening ticket and it is much cooler then. We didn't have to wait long for the rides really. 10 mins tops for Dragon Khan. The new rides were a bit longer. Furious Baco is so fast, but well worth the wait if you like a mega thrill ride. It is the fastest in Europe apparently. Hurakan Condor is worth a wait too. You are dropped from a great height but what we didn't realise was that they tilt you forward when you reach the top!! There were plenty of thrill rides for my 8 year old too. Including the racing trains and the Mine Train, she was thrilled to be big enough for those.
Despite staying for 14 hours we still didn't see everything! You can buy fast pass tickets but we found we didn’t need them. Only 2 rides we waited longer then 1/2 an hour for.
Barcelona was worth the visit. We were told it would take 75 mins to get there but it actually took us 3 hours! We went on an organised tour, visiting Gaudi buildings, Park Guell the Sagrada Familia and the fountains.
The tour we went on didn't give us free time but to be honest I was glad of that because Barcelona is so huge and all the streets look pretty much the same. We saw what we wanted to see and we were happy with that. We met another couple who did the free time tour and they didn't know where to go.
Also watch out for pick pockets. You can pay through Thomson or go with another company which was cheaper. This is the tour we took. (Gaudi and Fountains) Salou and Cambrils are a 5-10 bus ride away.
Salou is very, very busy, Cambrils less so. There is a fabulous display of fountains in Salou with one of them (the one nearest Salou harbour) doing a laser show at 10pm on a Fri, Sat and Sun nights - well worth watching.
Overall, we really enjoyed and I would recommend this hotel, especially for families.

We stayed at a Princess Hotel in Costa Adeje last year and it was well run, with friendly staff, good entertainment and great food and worthy of its 4 stars. However, we were a little disappointed with the Cambrils Princess in Costa Dorada, here is my review...
The outside of the hotel was in need of a lick of paint, exterior looked a bit tired, dead plants. Half of the main luminated hotel sign was not lit up. Okay, not life or death, but didn't give best first impressions. However, the reception area and bar was clean and well kept and reception staff welcoming & friendly.
Our room had a balcony that over looked the pool. Room was excellent, comfortable, and was cleaned daily with fresh towels. It had air con and power shower/bath. You had to pay 20 euros deposit for TV remote if wanted to use TV (only had English speaking CNN & BBC World only). Also, 20 euros deposit for a safety deposit box key.
The pool area was good. Got a sunbed everyday. Pool was full of children though, even though this holiday was sold to us as a hotel for couples. It was 3 euros daily to hire a sun umbrella and not enough brollies to go around, which caused a few minor hiccups!!
The evening entertainment was situated on a stage next to the pool, usually dancing or singing acts. Pleasant and inoffensive, geared towards children & older generation. Nothing of interest to young couples minus pushchairs. Bar worked quickly to keep bored parents with young children well watered. Also, I couldn't fail to notice that the bar staff were unfriendly & seemed unhappy throughout our stay. A smile doesn't hurt!
However, my main gripe was around the food & restaurant area in the hotel. We went half board. The restaurant area was just too small for a full hotel of guests, you needed to get to the restaurant by 9am, so you didn't have to queue outside and then make a dash for a free table like it was the first day of the Harrods sale! The choice & quality of breakfast was fine. The staff did not really control the chaotic crowd situation either. There was a lack of choice of evening meal - veal, pork most nights. A lot of the food was cold. We ate out for half of the holiday.
Costa Dorada itself is a quiet resort with lovely clean beach 2 mins walk from hotel. There are about half a dozen English bars/restaurants a few minutes from the hotel. There isn't any disco or nightclub - Salou is the place for that. However, Esmereldas did great English Breakfast, Mucky Duck good for lunch and Sky News/sports updates. The Beer Factory was the best place there in the evening, superb music, good food and amazing choice of European beers. We spent many a relaxed evening there.
The bus service to Salou and Cambrils (both 15 mins in ether direction) was regular and great value. Cambrils is a cosmopolitan harbour town with lots of upmarket shops, restaurants and bars. Salou similar but with lots of Brits party bars/nightclubs. Both worth checking out. I preferred Cambrils - lots of shops, good bars to watch the world go by, and upmarket restaurants. A romantic area for couples also.
So overall, we had a great holiday, the Cambrills Princess was a comfortable hotel with a great pool area, but the food & restaurant area really need improvement and some leadership is needed to lift the moral of the staff. This hotel could be a great 4 star not could-do-better 4 star.

We have just come back from our holiday, hotel very clean, and food enough for all, one veggie with us.
Drinks good, pool good enough beds, and did not seem to have a rush on a morning.
Bedrooms comfy. Suited everyone in the party from age 12-42!
Theme park when I go back I will book in the UK to make it cheaper, and you need more than one day...
I will be going back next year.

We all have a fabulous family holiday from day one!
Hotel is excellent for all. I travelled with my Partner, 2 kids {aged 8 years & 7 months} and my parents - we were all catered for.
Food quality was best you will find in Spain. A full style hot & cold buffet PLUS three chefs cooking your meat or fish in front of you.
Staff very helpful with the kids, and very friendly.
Rooms were extremely clean as was the hallways, dining areas, lobby and pool side.
Travelled to Port Aventura {30 mins bus ride - €6 for three passengers} an excellent day out for all ages. Returning to hotel knowing kids would be catered for and a top quality meal waiting for you makes a holiday.
Looking at booking for next year.

The hotel is kept clean and the staff are nice. The food is quite often cold but there is plenty of choice. It is a bus ride into Salou or Cambrils as its approx 2 miles to each. To journey further you need to catch a train in Salou, this goes to La Pinneada Tarragona and Barcelona. To go to Barcelona it costs around 15 euro by train or 30 by bus (But this includes entrance to the football ground and a guide). If you want more than just a look around Barcelona then book with Reps but the cost will be 40+.

we booked as a chance holiday and a bit of a bargain, had read many mixed reveiws so didnt really know what to expect so went with an open mind. was a bit concerned when we pulled up outside the hotel as looked a bit run down but once inside very nice reception area. staff at reception friendly and pleased to help, rooms basic but very comfortable, we emailed the hotel prior to holiday to enure we had a poolside room and we got it with nice veiws of the pool area and the sea. food was a little cold on the first day but seemed to improve altho they do provide microwaves if you are fussy. bar are nice and staff very friendly especially javier who by the second nite knew our order off hand. we took 2 trips out one to barcelona zoo and then around the city we did this on the local bus and drivers very helpful wen we got to salou they escorted us off the bus to a coach tour bus. we also went on the catamaran trip booked through thompsons both very good trips. the only complaint is that the entertainmet at the time of year was more aimed at the older generation who like their ballroom dancing but there are plenty of bars to go to near by. i would def go again we had a weeek of sunshine and a very enjoyable stay.
