I have visited this hotel before and it used to have huge magnificent gardens.
Unfortunately, the gardens have now been built on and the hotel grounds are surrounded by large blocks of flats. When I visited last, the flats were unoccupied, but I was told by the hotel staff the residents of the flats would be able to use the hotel facilities. Not sure about that though - if it does happen, I think there would be too many people.
The hotel and staff are great, more like a four star than a three. The food was good - basically all you can eat. It's not 5 star, but then you don't pay for 5 star, it is a good 3 star, perhaps more. It is not for the teenagers who go to live it up with lots of booze etc. This is more of a quiet family hotel with easy access to the beach. Note though that is at the top of a hill and after a day shoping or on the beach, it can be hard work getting back I and my wife are OAP's and we managed though. along athe beach road is every sort of shop you might need whilst on holiday.
I recommend it, and iwll retunr

Just returned from a stay at the Hotel Los Patos. This hotel has been recently refurbished and is in excellent condition. There has been considerable building work around the hotel constructing two apartment blocks which are in the final stages of completion. There is no problem in and around the hotel from noise. There does look to be building work planned at the front approach of the hotel as there is a huge site being cleared. The hotel is at the end of the resort of Benalmadena and the approach to the hotel is up a slight hill of 150 metres. There is a problem walking on the pavement due to parked cars. There are enough local bars and shops close to the hotel to keep the thirst at bay. The reception of the hotel is very smart and we found the desk staff to be very courteous although limited in speaking English. A few spanish words and some Lionel Blair gestures always got my message over and they were always helpful. The room was fine for three of us and we had a balcony with a good view over the back of the hotel which is where the pool and garden area is and the new apartment blocks which look immaculate. Rooms were cleaned every day and new towels/soap/shower gel and toilet paper supplied every day. The food was of a very good standard but at the weekend it is more aimed at the Spanish holiday makers. There was a good choice every night but nothing was named so you had to guess what everything was. The entertainment was of the usual bingo / parrot show / reptile show / flamenco etc etc that you see in most Spanish hotels. The daytime activities were good with rifle shooting / archery / table tennis / water polo all included. The staff were always re-organising according to demand so everyone was happy. This hotel attracts mainly Spanish. There were hardly any Brittish in the hotel. It was friendly enough though and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. All in, I would recommend the Los Patos Hotel for a holiday in Benalmadena.

Last minute bargain through a tour operator. Very impressed from stepping in to stepping out. Bit of a hike (150 meters ish) up a hill from where we were dropped off with our cases (which was on the sea front) to the hotel door.
Beautiful marble lobby, friendly reception, 3 (small) lifts. Downstairs to a large dining room. Room was spotless and modern and cleaned every day with fresh towels, linen changed once during the week.
Food was a little repetitive, but was well cooked and tasty. Always a choice of 4 or 5 mains, plenty of starters, salads, desserts etc...
Friendly staff, happy to help. Happy hour in the well priced bar, clean pool.
Entertainment every night though is geared toward the mainly Spanish clientele. This wasn’t a problem for us; our 4 year old son even won one of the nightly competitions, even though he never understood a word of what was going on!
Building work next door was nearly finished when we were there, though it wasn’t noisy anyway.
Only SLIGHT downside and this is after racking my brains to find one, was that it was at the end of the resort, and a bit of a walk away from the marina - 20 mins.

Myself and my partner Jim (both in our 40s) had booked another hotel in Benalmadena for 7 days but on arrival at hotel were told we were being transferred to another hotel as booked hotel was rowdy and noisy. We were sent to Los Patos and on arrival it looked lovely with lovely reception area. Better than the hotel previously booked.
Hotel was very clean, room was very clean and maid in every day. The hotel inside was quiet with just a couple of children. There was a lot of building work going on outside and the workers started about 7.30 every morning and finished about 7 every night. The first day was horrendous with all the noise as there were two apartment blocks on either side of pool being constructed, but after the second day you got used to the noise. Were put on the ninth floor and although the sun was restricted by the buildings after 5pm, our balcony was a sun haven.
We were half board and although breakfast was fine the meal at night was terrible. It was the same food for the whole 7 nights and catered mostly for the Spanish. A few couples we met were also complaining about the food. It seems that in September the Spanish pensioners get a holiday paid for them and hence the reason the hotels cater for spanish eating. We ate out at least 3 nights.
Rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towels every day. We were on the top floor and had no problem with the lifts and never really had to wait for a lift. The hotel is on a slight incline and in the heat can be a struggle for some people.
Hotel is at Casino end of Benalmadena and not a lot of shops close by. For shopping you need to go to Torremolinos or Fuengirola. Plenty of places to eat out with Irish and English pubs just two minutes walk from hotel.
Would definitely go back to this hotel but on a bed and breakfast basis or self catering.
Would definitely recommend this hotel and would have given it 10 out of 10 if food was better.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Los Patos in Benalmadena, although the hotel was quite nice, rooms basic but clean, food good, the big problem was all the building work that is going on around the hotel.
This must have been going on for some time now, we were woke up every morning at 8pm with the jcb's making a noise, also the views and sunlight was restricted because of the high rise buildings they are building.
Once all this is finished it will be quite nice, the hotel is on an incline.

Just returned from having a week at Los Patos.
Accommodation, clean, bright, fresh, and modern.
Food was excellent; in fact we never eat out at all!
Entertainment was first class.... fantastic shows!
Staff, courteous and professional.
Only downside.... stagnant stream to the side of hotel, so fair amount of mosquitoes! So take your cream and dab a few drops of tea tree oil on ankles to keep them away, and plug in mosquito repellent at night.

The Los Patos is a fine hotel in a quiet part of Benalmadena.
The rooms are spotlessly clean, maids in every day with clean towels, and bed linen changed twice weekly. The staff are all very pleasant and helpful. The food is of excellent quality with a good variety, both breakfast and dinner.
I will visit this hotel again. The sea is 5 minutes walk down a slight incline as is the bus stop, which will take you to Torremolinos and Malaga in the east, and Fuengirola to the west. Apleasant stroll along the Promenade will bring you to the Marina which has plenty of good shops and restaurants etc.
Also take a stroll through the nearby La Paloma park.

Nice clean hotel, great for a cheap week away, we had our 1 year old son with us the marble floors don't go to kindly with children but there were a lot of kids in the hotel. The food was fine but a bit of variety wouldn't go a miss by the end of the week.
Staff all very friendly and pool was nicely set in gardens with a paddling pool for smaller kids. The only down fall really were the lifts, took too long and always busy, especially meal times.
All in all a good family budget hotel.

A beautiful hotel I spent a few days in during my recent Spain holiday is the Sol Patos in Benalmadena. Located within a ten minute walk of this beach, this hotel is in a pretty and very up market part of Benalmadena and makes a lovely addition to the city skyline.
The rooms are fantastic with air conditioning, drinks making facilities (and complimentary coffee and tea when you arrive), satellite TV and direct dial phones as standard. You can also request a safe deposit box for a small fee, although they only have a limited number of these available so it’s worth mentioning the fact that you want one when booking.
There are over 200 double rooms and 27 singles to choose from, all similarly decorated but still full of individual character. The décor is tasteful; pastel walls which give the rooms a light and airy feeling, the large windows in all rooms enhance this sensation as the warm Spanish sun literally floods each room at certain times of the day. Our double room was massive; a large and very comfortable double bed being dwarfed by the size of the floor area and the adjoining en suite bathroom.
The hotel facilities are first class. The large, clean heated pool is beautifully kept and surrounded with some gorgeous greenery including loads of fully grown palm trees which really adds to the holiday atmosphere. Relaxing in one of the comfortable sun loungers for an hour and then taking a dip is absolute bliss. The nearby coffee bar stocks just about everything you could need; from delicious coffee and cold drinks to ice cream and peanuts. An irregular waiter service is available to the pool area from the hotel bar, but take a word from the wise and when you see the waiter then order a drink regardless of whether you’ve finished or not because you probably won’t see him again for an hour!
Inside the bar is quite posh, a chrome and glass affair with lots of trendy bar stools and sophisticated black and glass tables. Very relaxing and the air conditioning is delicious at night when you’ve got all hot during the day, change into some light evening wear and let the chill cool you down beautifully – the only problem being when you leave the bar the heat will hit you like a sauna! Drinks are fairly expensive, as with most European hotel bars, with the lager surprisingly similar in price to a decent fruity cocktail – so might as well go for the nice stuff than the appalling Spanish beer!
If activity is more your cup of tea then head off to the mini golf course which is a kind of cross between a proper round and crazy golf. Despite being mini golf, the course is surprisingly large with sand bunkers and several mini assault courses for you to traverse (or not!) your ball around and through. The tennis court is also worth a look if you can bear to play in the summer heat, there’s a small fee for racquet hire but its nominal and you don’t need to leave a deposit.
The hotel restaurant has a definite Mediterranean feel with lots of terracotta included in the décor and a lovely burnt orange tiled floor. It’s a fantastically vibrant place to eat, very colourful and I loved the fact that staff didn’t herd you out the door as soon as you’ve finished your meal. It’s very laid back and the staff are extremely helpful – to the point of actually going to the shop to buy a carton of cranberry juice when I asked for a glass with my breakfast instead of the usual orange and apple juices available!
Food is delicious at the Sol Patos restaurant. For breakfast you can choose from a selection of exotic fruits, cereals or go for the full English brekkie which consists of just about every breakfast item you can think of. For a bargain 9 Euros you’ll get a plateful of fried egg, sausage, bacon, toast, hash brown (delicious), beans and grilled tomatoes; while for an extra 2 Euros they’ll add black pudding and a lamb chop, which is odd at 8 o’clock in the morning! Lunch and dinner are an extensive mix of Spanish and English dishes, the paella being particularly good.
A standard double room will cost you between 50 and 75 Euros per person, per night so it’s not the cheapest hotel in the area. It’s definitely worth the price though as I felt completely relaxed and rejuvenated after spending part of my holiday at this hotel. The price doesn’t include any meals however, but you can either pay hotel restaurant prices or take a stroll into nearby Benalmadena ‘tourist central’ (home of the blow up lilo shops) and eat at one of the many roadside cafes for a fraction of the cost. Do eat some meals at the hotel though because the food really is fantastic.
I’d definitely recommend you stay at Sol Patos if you’re planning a holiday in Benalmadena. A word of warning though, although children are welcomed at the hotel it generally has an adult atmosphere to the place. The hotel provides a good outdoor children’s play area but that’s about it when it comes to catering for kids and I don’t think I’d feel particularly comfortable here if we’d had our two young children with us. As it was, Nanny was babysitting for the fortnight so we didn’t have this to worry about!

This hotel was great for us, within easy walking distance of amenities and beach. The hotel gardens were a delight to walk around. The 2 swimming pools were fabulous and clean. The hotel room was of a very good standard and kept very clean by the hard working staff. The food selection could not be faulted with a wide choice. All in all a very good hotel with friendly staff. The airport (Malaga) was only half an hour away by taxi and cost 20 euros. A visit to the marina is a must.

Just returned from Los Patos - holiday booked via Lowcostholidays.co.uk who were brilliant - and would recommend this place for families. Please note that the shuttle did not drive to the main entrance of the hotel as it was very busy - be prepared for a hilly 4 min walk to the main reception. Rooms are located across the gardens, again, bear this in mind if you have buggies and small children. Our room was very clean with a separate twin bedded room and a sofa bed for our son in the main living area. Kitchen well equiped with washing machine, dishwasher and 2-ring hob. Take your own teabags/sugar/powders as these were rather expensive at the local supermarket. Room was cleaned daily, beds were made and fresh towels in the bathroom. Bathroom is very small but with marble throughout, TAKE CARE on the wet floors! Rooms do not have a safe, but the hotel offer to keep valuables. They also store your luggage at no charge, until your departure shuttle arrives. Hotel offered nightly entertainment and children's discos. The two hotel pools were very clean and well maintained and ideal for those with young children. The hotel is located about 5 mins walk from the beach where you can hire sun loungers/umbrellas at around 10 Euros per day. Toilets and showers also on beach (free of charge). Plenty of kiosks and restaurants nearby for drinks/snacks from around 3 Euros for chips etc, and a MacDonalds is close by (very busy with children!). We opted for half board at the hotel but only ate there a few times. For breakfast, you need to arrive as the hotel begins service at 8am or you have to que for sometime. As there were many nationalities at the hotel, the food ranged from pizza and chips to paella and a range of meat dishes. You must pay for all drinks upon entry - including water, but the hotel will keep your wine for you for the next meal if you don't finish a bottle! Food well presented and edible, if a little bland. We had a large English breakfast at one of the many restaurants along the beach : at 6 Euros for the largest breakfast in history with free tea, we didn't need to eat again until dinner!(The Horizon Restaurant) Benalmedena is a great place for children of all ages, especially teens. My son is 15 and found that there was an abundance of water sports just along the beach all reasonably priced and well organised. We visited the Sea Life centre (about 15 mins stroll from the hotel) located at the Marina. This is a lovely area and I recomend a visit. We ate here most evenings - best restaurant is Pinocchio's Pizzeria. Plenty of shops to visit for all budgets including the 2 Euros store and a shop that sold plenty of beach wear from only 5 Euros per bikinki to the leather store and designer sunglasses store! The Yachts in the marina are for hire/boat trips and also for sale! Check out the Junk, a chinese restaurant where you can eat and sail along the bay. Other nearby attractions that we visited were the Benalmedena cable car - only 13 Euros each (adult fare) for the return journey which is simply stunning (not for the faint hearted!) Allow 10 Euros each way for cab fare. At the top of the cable car you will see falconry with owls and vultures. Another gret place for children is Crocodile World. Taxi fare was 8 Euros each way from the hotel. You view all sizes of crocs and alligators and then get to hold one!! The hotel has many leaflets to suit all tastes and budgets for days out. The staff speak brilliant English and are keen to help. Check out the lounge which has internet access (chargable) and directories for anything you need for your stay. The only downside of this resort (not the hotel) is the copious amount of hawkers. Whilst on the beach and eating out, you will be approached to buy fake Prada/Gucci. Also watch out for the timeshare reps ...
We had a wonderful week and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this location or indeed, return!
