After reading other reviews of this hotel saying how good it was and the fact that Thomson gave it a Gold Medal. We were very disappointed as it did not live up to our expectations. We thought the food was greasy and therefore did not enjoy any of the meals. 18 of us went... more

We stayed here for one week with our two young boys. We loved this hotel, food was good, and rooms were cleaned daily & clean towels every day. The only downside was entertainment was poor all over by 11.30pm, and sun beds at pool had more towels on them than people, lucky... more

The hotel was great. The only problem was that there is building work going on right outside the front door. You will not get any peace and quiet, it starts from 8am going through until 8pm. Overall though the staff are friendly, the food was good. Very close to the beach... more

Our first visit to Benidorm and had some misgivings. Hotel Nereo is one of the best 3* hotels we have stayed in. Staff and service first class. The choice of food was excellent and plentiful, wine list was very reasonable. Entertainment fair but there is so much on offer... more

lovely if you are not single
After staying for 2 weeks at the Nereo, I must confess it was a lovely hotel. The food was great, different every night. The staff were friendly. Just one problem that I think all single travellers shoukd be aware of. After paying a single supplement of £112, I entered my room to find it must have been the smallest room in the hotel, in fact I have a bigger larder at home. There wasno floor space to put your case, even though the brochure said room for a cot, HA! The bathroom would be ok if you had a catwalk figure but for the more burlesque woman, no room at all. Extremely disappointing for the extra expense incurred and wouldn't go again as single traveller. Also could do with more entertainment.
Best Hotel ever seen...
I had the great experience of staying at this great hotel last June. I can not say a bad word about it. Myself and my partner both felt welcome from the moment that we walked into the door, even though it was 4am. The lady on the desk immediately showed us to our room and made us feel at home. The food in the hotel is amazing, I am the kind of person who will try anything once but my partner isn’t, never the less she had no trouble with picking out a banquet of food each day and so did I. The location of the hotel is great, it is opposite a small indoor market and about 30 seconds away from the beach. Even though it is on a corner next to a main road, it is quiet at night and has great views of all the surrounding area. I suggest to anyone going to Benidorm to stay in this hotel, apart from big groups of teens who are there to party. Reason for this is when we were there, a group of 7 lads came in there early 20’s, they came in at 5 the next morning making to much noise and by 10 the same morning they had been asked to find a new hotel and thrown out. This hotel is great I give it 10/10.
loved it its great
Just got back on saturday and i would recomend this hotel to any one. The food was excellent, the hotel was spotless and the staff very freindly. the entertainment was ok could have been better but in benidorm theres loads to do anyway.I went with my 3 children who are2,5and7 and my partner,my mum and dad everyone had a great time. the pool is very clean and just big enough if u have small children, u can see where they are. It was great, i loved it.
Great
I stayed at the Nereo last year and had a great holiday I found the staff all friendly overall I found the hotle to be great apart from my room it was a single room and I felt having paid a single supplement I din't think it fair that my room was so small but apart from that I had a fab time infact I'm going back there this year again. The hotel is in a great position as it's near to the beach, shops and all the entertainment.
Very poor
I have been going to Benidorm for 20 years and as a travel aget myself we found the Nereo to be totally overated. We have been going in this hotel for drinks an entertainment over the years with my family. But this is the first time to stay in it. The rooms were clean but need refurbishing, the bar area and pool was good and the staff excellent. The food was a disgrace the dining room looked shabby and dirty and the food was poorly presented and was the cheapest food available. I have viewed hundreds of hotels in Benidorm and this hotel has let standards slip, English food for the clients was a joke, when you go to Spain eat the local produce and food. Probably has been instructed by Thomsons/Direct and First choice to provide this horrible selection and poor food. The hotel used to be mixed with european clients now all Engish not my cup of tea prefer..choritzo, cortado y vino rosado, Muy mal.
Just returned from Nereo Hotel
for the 3rd time. Excellent hotel, staff friendly and helpfull. Food excellent, perfectly situated close to all amenities. Had fantastic holidays and will be going back in the autumn.
Great Hotel
I have just returned from a weeks break at the Hotel Nereo with my parents and my two young children. The hotel is central to everything you would need on a holiday, bars, cafes, shops, supermarkets, beach and bus routes. We found that the majority of the guests in this hotel were of an 'older' generation and therefore the hotel was quite quiet, but this suited our party, although it could have been due to the time of year we travelled. The food at the hotel was varied and plentiful, it catered for all in my party, my parents and my children alike and no one left the dining hall hungry. The staff were helpful and plesant at all times. The pool area was clean with numerous sunbeds, chairs and tables. The rooms were of a good size and cleaned daily, towels and sheets changed every day. I would stay at the Nereo again.
Not Impressed
ME and my friend both 23 stayed here last year, Great location central to everything, 1 min walk to the beach, 5 mins walk to all the nightlife. Was halfboard and the food was horrible due to the fact it was always cold not kept heated mainly, the breakfast was the only meal i ever ate their and that was until i took a mouthful of cold beans (yuk). We were the youngest people here it was mainly more for older families however that time of year so was the overall of Benidorm to be honest. I found the staff and customer service very poor, as we got mugged on our first night and they wouldnt even let us use the phone considering all our money/cards had been stolen, all we wanted to do was cancel our cards, they were not very sympathetic whatsoever and hardly understood English. Rooms were nice and clean. So anyone heading here be warned you may need extra money for food, also be careful of getting mugged it happens all the time out there. Very hot and beach was lovely.
Mmmmm chips again...
I stayed at the Nereo from August 9th to 23rd and don't get me wrong, the staff are lovely and its well located. However I think its well in need of a refit, I found it a little shabby round the edges - our room on the second floor had furniture that I would not give house room to. The front of the dressing table was ingrained with dirt and the bedside tables and cabinet that the tv stood on had peeling edges. The room also had an underlying smell of cigarettes, but as they do not separate smoking and non smoking rooms I suppose this is inevitable. It was generally clean and the maids did a decent job, apart from not changing the glasses once during my stay and never sweeping under the beds. The food was appalling, and contrary to the other recent review on speaking to other guests we were not alone in this opinion. As a vegetarian it was exceptionally limited, and my meat eating friend found that things were either undercooked or tasteless. I survived on a diet of chips which was less than thrilling! For some reason they do have a vegetrian option at lunchtimes but not dinner when your choice is chips and veg or salad usually. Although sometimes they do like to mess up the veg option by putting ham in the sweetcorn etc. I probably would not stop here again despite its good location, and I do not feel it is a three star accomodation.
Hotel Nereo - what a gem!!
Just got back from a week at the Hotel Nereo, 20th August 2005-27th August 2005. A last minute grab what you can break and horrors of horrors ended up in Benidorm!! Wasn't sure what to expect but was absolutely amazed at the excellent holiday we had. The Hotel Nereo was 1st class, food amazing just too much (well how could I resist!) and now have half a stone to lose. Room clean and maid service very efficient, pool area also very clean. Bar and staff always very efficient. Entertainment.........eh.......man on organ and DJ who plays records that even I had trouble remembering but having said that perfectly adequate to have a drink to and anyway we are talking Benidorm here and plenty of entertainment elsewhere if needed! I could make a few points, like a hairdryer in the room would have been more use than the TV but really that is just nit picking and in no way detracts from the fact that I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and yes ok I know sad but actually Benidorm was good fun too!! Would I go back, definitely not if, WHEN!!
