Excellent value - the best hotel to stay in
from shaunmcc
The Hotel Amaragua has great reviews & i'm so glad i went with them - i was not disappointed. This is the best place to stay in Torremolinos. The hotel and room was very clean with impressive foyer and bar areas. We stayed on B&B terms so cannot comment on the half board options but the buffet style breakfast had plenty of choice including bacon and eggs cooked in front of you, however you like them. Breakfast times was 7.30-10.30 The room was well appointed and nicely decorated. It was a side sea-view that faced east which meant the room did not get too hot during the day. The air conditioning in the room did not work on cool setting and only added to the heat if you switched it on, so we left the patio doors open during the day to cool the room. There was some building work going on below us and this was a bit noisy in the morning with diggers, etc but this was not anything to do with the hotel and was just ' one of those things' The location is excellent. You walk through the garden, via a security gate and step straight on to the promenade & beach. There are plenty of shops and restaurants ( great fish restaurants). This time of the year it was very quiet at night but busy during the day. Turn right and Benalmadena and Puerto Marina are approx 10 mins walk, very nice area with good restaurants and bars. Turn left and this takes you past the fish restaurants of carihuela and on into torremolinos. The hotel has a lovely spa with indoor heated pool and a very large jacuzzi. steam room, sauna and gymnasium. it was open 10.00-2.00 and 16.00-20.00 mon-sat and 10.00-2.00 on sundays the hotel grounds had plenty of sunbeds around the large pool ( a bit cold at this time of year) and was a great place to relax and sunbathe. Lovely views out to sea as the hotel is elevated from the promenade. we paid 160.00 pounds for 3 nights B&B in a double room from 10-13 March 2006. Incredible value for this 4 star hotel and i do not think you will find any better value than this for what the hotel and area offers. I would definetly stay here again & would recommend the hotel to anyone - you won't be disappointed.
Great Hotel
from wishtobeskinny
My husband and I selected the Hotel Amaragua because of the good reviews it has on Trip Advisor. It was great. All the staff are very friendly and can speak English. Check-in was very quick. The hotel and room was very clean. We stayed bed and breakfast only so we cannot comment on the food except breakfast was great. The location is good too. I don't previous reviews do this justice. You can walk through the garden, via a security gate (you swipe your room card) and step straight on to the promenade. There are plenty of shops and restaurants etc. This time of the year it was very quiet but busy enough when the sun came out. The hotel is situated on the edge of Torremolinos, next to Benalmadena. So no matter which way you walk on the promenade, there's plenty to see. It only cost 12 Euros from the airport by taxi. Finally - try out the Het Hof Dutch restaurant on the prom - good atmosphere and friendly staff.
The Amaragua is a gem!

Just now getting around to rating this wonderful hotel. My husband and I (active "senior" travelers) were on a Sun Holiday tour in February, 2005, and after reading about the Amaragua on TripAdvisor we decided to upgrade to this fine property. The others on our tour were booked at a hotel down the street and were not very pleased with their hotel and dining room. We travel to Europe nearly every year, usually on fairly upscale tours, and are pretty choosy about our accommodations. We had an adequate room, and a view of the ocean (had to go out on the small balcony to see it). The lobby was beautiful, and the reception staff most friendly, and spoke English well enough to help us whenever needed. In the dining room, we met other Americans, and travelers from people from Britain and Australia--most had been to the hotel before and some even came there every winter for a few weeks. Breakfast was good, but the dinners did get a little repetitious. We were on a modified "dine-around" plan, and enjoyed walking down the boardwalk to restaurants nearer town. Speaking of town, this hotel is also nicely located--perhaps a half hour walk to town along the boardwalk, where you can enjoy shopping along the way. We had unusually rainy and cold weather while we were there (or so the "regulars" told us); did not get to enjoy the beautiful pool; but in spite of that, we think fondly of our week there, and when we return to Torremolinos again, we definitely will stay again at the Amaragua!
b&b much better than half board

Just got back from Hotel Amaragua, Costa del sol. Great hotel, Lovely position, only problem was the food, every thing just lukewarm @ evening meals, almost same thing each night,Breakfasts were ok. If we went back it would be bed & breakfast for us.
Compared with its neighbour
from A TripAdvisor Member
I have stayed at this hotel 3 times this year (2005) and twice at its neighbour hotel. And here are te results of the jury. Amaragua is second in: -location -outside arquitecture -history -sea views from most of the rooms -easy to find but Amaragua is first in -luxuriousness -cleaness -food -friendliness -professional treatment -guest selection Both have wedding parties now and then, which is a bit of a throwback. So, all in all Amaragua wins.
Excellent Choice - worth the money

We stayed here at the end of May, chosing this hotel as a result of the other reviews. We were not disappointed, and were glad to have spent the extra money on this place - it was value! Our accommodation was half board, and both the breakfast and dinner were of a good standard. Dinner buffet varied to include dishes such as fresh prawns, salmon steaks and other spanish and international cuisine. The staff were very friendly and willing to accommodate. Since this trip was to celebrate my birthday, I had requested a sea-view room (at no extra cost - booked on a discount website) and was not disappointed. The amenities, including indoor pool and spa, and lovely gardens around the pool were fabulous. Prices were reasonable to eat and drink at the hotel, but for variety, you are immediately above the pedestrian boulevard on the beach. Rooms are a good size (we stayed in the airconditioned hotel, not the appartments) and have been recently refurbished. Would go back there and recommend it to friends.
Fantastic Hotel
from RosieBee55
Just returned from a fantastic five night break at this hotel. The hotel is located opposite the beach, with great views of the sea. Our room was very very clean as was the whole of the hotel. My one reservation was the evening meal which was only just warm with the same buffet selection every night. Breakfast was excellent with eggs cooked while you wait so breakfast was hot and fresh.
Good location, good hotel
from Elstree
Stayed for 1 week in May 2005. The hotel is a real four-star hotel but the package price (half board) is good value (booked with Alpharooms). Unlike other hotels in this area, the outdoor swimming pool is not at the same level as the promenade so all guests are somewhat insulated from passersby. Bathroom has lots of toiletries but only complaint are the pillows which are uncomfortable. The food was great though. They even have free drinks at the bar during happy hour.
Amaragua Exceeded Expectations
from Soutrables
Stayed here for a week's break with my wife on a half-board basis. My wife had stayed here twice before with friends, and had told me how good the Hotel Amaragua was in 2002 and 2003. I can only say that it met and even exceeded expectations. Service was friendly and efficient; cleanliness could not be faulted; food was plentiful and of high quality and variety; facilities including the pool and terrace were first-class; the bar staff were cheerful and fast; our room was comfortable and kept spotlessly clean. The La Carihuela quarter of Torremolinos is very pleasant, with good shopping, interesting cafes and bars, and a number of excellent fish restaurants which we tried at lunchtime. Given the opportunity, we will go again.
Great Hotel and Location.

Stayed here over Easter 2005. The hotel is well located a stones-throw from the beach, and the rooms are clean and well equipped. Hotel facilities and restaurant are excellent and the hotel staff are very friendly. Highly recommended.
