Not for me!
I have been to Orlando 5 times now and this hotel was not pleasant. I did this trip on the cheap, and cheap is what I received. My own stupid fault really. The two best things about this hotel are the free courtesy coach to the theme parks & the location on International Drive. Very near to restaurants, shops etc etc. Not far to the shopping Mall either. Now for the rest.....The first room we had was your usual basic, two double beds, tv, bathroom, open plan waldrobe. After unpacking I tried to make a pot of coffee and I found that the cold tap just ran hot/ boiling hot all the time. After making a call to reception they sent someone out immediately to fix but it never did get that cold. The added extras were the live cockroaches I found under the sheets as I pulled the blankets back. After screaming the place down, I called reception again and they immediately sent a porter with a buggy to move us to another room. But the damage was done, I could not stop thinking about them and each night thereafter I checked and re checked the entire room before going to bed... Silly I know, but I just could not bear the thought. The rooms were too basic and could not get rid of that damp, funny smell in the air. The staff were always very courteous to us and were very helpful where they could be, but the hotel premises is where the establishment is let down.
good...not great
It's location is convenient, lots of shops and places to eat within walking distance. The room was clean and the staff was friendly....... However, I was little annoyed they couldn't check us in a minute before 4pm and there was an unexpected $125.00 room deposit, but checkout was quick and easy. The T.V. in my room sucked... a good whack and the picture was clear again. Too many chemicals in the hot tub...bleached my new suit!
Loved it
Just got back from this hotel 20th May, we've previously stayed at the Best Westen Lakeside in Kissimee which is quite a lot further out. However, this location was perfect as we didnt want to drive everyday. Lots of stuff to do, all within walking distance. The hotel is in the process of being refurbished (there was a leaflet in the room explaining that they were doing this while still being open). A couple of the buildings exteriors were painted while we were there and the guest laundry equipment was replaced.. The room was as expected, basic but clean. The only downside was no fridge, although ice is free from the ice machine on each landing. The reception staff weren't overly-friendly but weren't rude either. I would recommend going to the Visitors centre across the road for attraction tickets and informaion as the staff in there were really friendly and helpful.
Don't go if you like comfort
Not a pleasent experience. Had to ask for a room change as our room was as dark as a dungeon, beware of rooms ending with a 1 on the end of a block. Also did'nt like the half of the bathroom in the bedroom. Also charged $125 deposit on arrival which to date has not been refunded although we were assured that it was refunded on our departure. Staff were surly and very unhelpful. Poolside restaurant was rubbish and very expensive. Go to the Ponderosa, a short walk where a breakfast buffet can be had, all you can eat for $3.99. Friendlys next door is great and we also liked Dennys across the street. Loved the Beales outlet at Via Mercado. On the plus side, nice pool area and plenty of sundbeds First time for us and not our cup of tea. Great for a young couple or family who just need a bed.
Enjoyable stay - Minor problems encountered
I have just got back from a 2 week stay at this hotel - april 30 - may 14th and there were a few minor things, but had a great stay. The minor problems we encountered was our room 2419 had a phone that was dead! and the receptionist even admitted to that when i complained and that the tv would chose what YOU wanted to watch, swapping channels by its self, so we asked to move and were given room 2325, which was fine apart from the Air Con being a bit noisy, but was fine if you just had it on cool, nothing to fret about though. We did try a room by the free way and did find it to be a bit noisy - i have to sleep with no noise really, but if your a heavy sleeper, im sure youll be fine. The Reception - Staff are a bit bored looking but wernt a problem. The Room- large, clean, typical motel room you would get in any best western, Days Inn, super 8, etc etc.. Clean, basic, air con, in room safe, iron and board, coffee making facilities, comfy beds, tv, phone, bath/ shower etc.. We found the room perfect for chilling out in and the sheets were very clean, carpet was clean, new soap every day - why i dont know, but hey! The Pool- Very hot, hot tub, nice cool pool, plenty of places to lounge out and towels supplied with cafe on site, but when we ate there i was ill after having burger and chips, so even though it said "no food or drinks allowed" on the pool gates, after my unpleacent meal, i took my own snacks to the pool! Area- Great! right by the i-ride and lynx bus stops, definately go to Friendlies next to the hotel for great food and some amazing milk shakes and ice creams - Crystal who works there is great and the food isnt pricy. You have wonder works, TGI fridays, Walgreens, Tony Romas and supermarket all near by, but get your sun cream from Walgreens - MUCH cheaper then the supermarket near Tony Romas. Shuttle Service - We used this once for Universal, pick up at 08.15 and pick up from the park at 19.50, which is really quite late unless your going to the Universal City Walk. My boyfriend and i found it easier to get the i-ride to Wet & wild then walk about 10mins to Universal, much easier. This was a great budget deal for us and knew thats what we were getting and didnt feel like we got a bad deal at this hotel, if your used to motels and not expecting the Ritz, then you will have a great time! any questions please ask
Not as bad as expected
We stayed here the last week in April/first week in May. I was apprehensive about the hotel after reading all the negative posts prior. When we arrive at the hotel, check-in was fast. However, my fear came true upon entering the room they had given us. It was in unit 3 facing a very busy highway. I could have lived with the road noise, but the room as absolutely aweful. Was very damp and had a moldy smell. I was traveling with my husband and two small children so this room was not an option. We returned to the reception area and requested a different room. They quickly gave us a non-smoking room in the first unit on the ground level. I was rather hesitant about it, but told her I would go check to see if it was satisfactory. The room, although needs to be updated, was actually clean and had no nasty smells or anything. The only thing that really needs changing bad was the carpet. I did notice, however, a few doors down that they are in the process of remodeling their rooms so I am going to assume that it will be done soon. Anyway, after checking into the new room, things actually went rather well. The maid came in everyday and cleaned. The kids absolutely loved the pool, which I found to be very cleaned. Also, the location is absolutely fabulous. Tons of great restaurants within walking distance. Also, if you have kids you must check out the Pirate Cove miniature golf. I would stay here again. For the money spent it was okay. All we basically did was sleep here, as we were out and about all day long. Shuttle service, although most days was running a bit late, was an easy way of getting to the parks and back.
Clean and most satisfactory
We simply walked in and asked for a room for 3 nights. My first impressions were that it were quite large and bright. My partner was a while in Reception booking but I could see that it was fairly busy. I also noticed that they provided transport to your block if you needed it with your luggage. We were in a rental so simply drove round to the appropriate car park. Our room was nice and fresh with white walls, a refreshing change from the gloomy rooms we have had in several motels previously. The room was also very clean . We used the pool which was nice and clean and also the jacuzzi hot tub. The only issue here was that although it posts a "maximum bathing load" this is self governed so the sign might as well as not been there as it was almost ram-jammed full come the coolness of darkness. But it was all good natured, mostly teenagers from America and the UK We also used the laundry facilities which were adequate...we had saved up our quarters all week! They also have a change machine in the lobby. Also in the Lobby was free internet access which I found available much of the time. One morning we had decided to have breakfast in the pool bar - that was the lowlight of the stay really - a rip off for rubber food-friendly service though. I would consider staying here again.
You will be disapointed!
Stayed there for a fortnight (14), first of all they charged a resort fee, then I was checked into one room, it stunk of mold and smoke was gross. I went back to reception and after a while they gave me a new room, this room was ok untill I took a shower. Had no hot water throughout my stay, water pressure was horrible, ants in kitchen, bad carpet, hardly got in to the room as the key card kept breaking down. The hotel does not feel safe.
alright
we have just returned from a two week stay at the econolodge and we found it ok the rooms were clean and the maid came in every day to make the beds and clean up we did feel pressured into tipping her every day as there was an envelope and she kept placing it where we could see it, we tipped at the end of our holiday and felt that was enough.the rest of the resort was kept clean and tidy and the staff were polite and approachable the only problem we had was the times of the shuttles to the parks they set off either really early or really late then came back early or late there was no in between times which would have been better had you had small children. the pool was heated although it was broken for the first few days we were there and the pool was freezing luckily the weather was'nt to hot so we didnt mind to much! the pool bar was expensive charging five dollars for a small bud beer! there is not much choice at the pool bar and i strongly recommend going to friendlys next door the food was lovely and the service was brill and it was much cheaper.not sure if we would stay there again as we felt the resort was to big.
Used to be the Best Western International Plaza
What you may not know is this hotel did have ratings on tripadvisor but they recently they changed names and chain. The ratings before were horrible. *worried me*I thought I would be ok at this hotel I just wanted somewhere to meet my friend. At check-in the girl couldn't find a room key for me, then she handed me a paper and said here sign this. When I asked her what it was she simply said we need a credit card to keep on file and we will hold $100 to make sure the room isn't messed up when you leave. I just said fine so I could check in and relax from my flight. I got to my room and I just wanted to cry. It was gross...the bed looked like the sheets were there from the day they opened and were never cleaned. The room stunk, the toilet...well that was just scary and all together gross. I called my friend and told her it was bad..we knew we had no other choice so we stayed. Since it was so bad she brought two comforters from her house so we could wrap up in them instead of sleeping on the ones the hotel provided. The housekeeping did come to your room everday...no matter if your in it or not. The maid just walked in and just worked around us! No matter how good the price looks and I know it has transfers which is very convincing it is just not worth it! The last things I want to warn you about is I had to call the hotel a few times because they 1. over charged me 2.They took and kept that $100 deposit. When I called they said there was nothing wrong with the room but i'd get the money back soon. The overcharge is because I booked through a third party. Anytime you book this hotel through anyone besides the front desk themselves you will be charged $2.50 A DAY (now I only stayed a few days but that can add up if your on a long trip) I called the hotel complaining about this the gave me the number for accounting I believe which I left a message and nobody has called me back...I just give up on it.
