I was really worried after reading the reviews on this hotel, but we were surprised. The booking in staff was extremely polite and efficient. We were a party of seven in three room two rooms on one side of the block and one on the other facing the pool in block A/B. The... more

We booked to stay in Holiday Inn as part of our honeymoon package; the main reason was because it was the best affordable deal at the time. We didn't expect anything great as it was a 3 star hotel however we were very much impressed with the reception area on arrival. ... more

Was ok. Good location. Hotel was fair, it had all amenities required.
Room little dated and although adequate but felt musky. Good launderette facilities.
All in all a good hotel for the price paid. It was cleaned everyday.
Within walking distance to Wet and Wild opposite.

We stayed at this hotel the first time we went to Orlando and it was great. A fabulous location for a family holiday, and close to great restaurants such as the Ponderosa and of course - Dennys! The rooms are really big and have a microwave, and a fridge which is very... more

Absolutely excellent. We were lucky enough to stay in a 'resort room' on the ground floor at the side of the pool - recommend you write direct to the hotel and ask for one in advance, as we did. It was a great idea to have the pool open until 11.30 pm (great after a tiring... more

Good for kids
I stayed at this hotel in October, it is very good value if you are travelling with kids, The place itself is in need of repair, with plugs hanging out of the wall, the rooms are very big so makes it good for families, eating places are all around, Sizzlers, is across the road, it is a bit far from the Disney resorts, and you will need to book the shuttle early, although Universal studios is not far away as is wet and wild.. Comfortable ,but you get what you pay for
Don't be misled by the name ... International Palms Resort is NOT a resort.
The pictures of this hotel online are deceiving; I suppose I should have realized that $89/night is unreal for quality hotels. It is currently under new ownership so it is being remodeled (used to be Holiday Inn). The colors are not very pretty: mint green walls and ocean blue everything else. I guess they're going for the ocean & beach theme but I am more of a contemporary, clean, simple lines person so it didn't resonate. The hotel is very old and is in need of some major repairs. There was a lot of rust in the corners of the bathroom floor, and there were holes big enough to let bugs through. The shower head was not secured to the wall, and the lamp on our desk was broken (the light bulb and socket were actually dangling), and the phone did not work properly. They did supply with enough soap, shampoo (no conditioner), and toilet paper. The temperature was always a little off ... turn on the heat and in minutes you were scalding, and vice versa. We were on the 8th floor so we had a great view. We thought breakfast was included but it's not ... they have a buffet but they charge you ten bucks per person so we drove down to IHOP once and also stopped at a convenience store for juice, milk, etc. because the onsite grocery mart will rape you with their sky high prices. The elevator stopped working while we were there so we had to climb 8 flights of stairs (just once) and all the elevator number lights were burnt out so you couldn't tell if you had pushed the button or not, as well as what floor you were on when the door opened! The housekeeping service was great - they always left our room spotless and provided us with enough toiletries and towels. This hotel is located on the shadier side of International Drive.
Wouldn't stay there again
Rooms need some major updating. Bed was uncomfortable. Pool and grounds were well maintained. If you need a budget cheap place this would be a good spot. Right on the beach which is great. Free parking. Staff was very friendly.
I suppose I was lucky?
Me and my girlfriend stayed here on our first holiday together last September. Despite all of these poor reviews I can say we had nothing to complain about. When we arrived the staff were very friendly and helpful. Because we were priority club members our room was upgraded free of charge. Our room was in the tower block on the top floor. The height was quite overwhelming for my girlfriend but she got used to it. The room was out dated by none the less, clean and tidy. Everything in the room worked, it was a very large room, the maid came everyday at about 10am. I agree with everyone elses reviews about the security. There was always leaflets posted through our door and the tower block didnt really give a sense of safety (more like an east London block of flats). We used the pool once which was quiet and relaxing but also out-dated. We thought that the location was great. We walked to universal, wet n wild was literally across the road and there were plenty of restaurants in short walking distance. Also the iRide stop was outside the front of the hotel. We were planning on going back to that hotel when we go back to orlando this year, but since we have heard all these poor recent reivews and since it no longer accepts priority club we are planning to go to another local hotel. Hopefully a much needed refurb will bring it to the same market as other hotels in the area.
Best place on I-Drive
I can't fault this place.... * Amazing location.....*Great price for the rooms with everything you would need in them....*great size pool and hot tub to relax in after a hard day at the theme parks....*walking distance to WetnWild and Universal theme parks and plenty of eating out and shopping malls...............Great place to chillax or start your big day out !
You'll probably be happier if you stay somewhere else.
This hotel wasn't a nightmare, but it definitely wasn't worth the price I paid to stay here for a week. The staff was nice and helpful, and my room was a decent size, but the hotel overall is old and tired. The "restaurant" in the hotel lobby has extremely limited choices, and is overpriced. The paint job is sad and depressing. They make you pay for computer access in the business center at $0.25/minute, which doesn't sound like a lot, but adds up quickly since the computers cheat you out of most of the money you spend to access them. They count down faster than the normal minute, and when you log off, they automatically remove another minute or two's worth of money. The worst part of the hotel was the shower - I could never get a constant shower pressure or temperature. The water was always either scalding or freezing, despite me spending more than 10 minutes trying to get it to be bearable. And sometimes it would just turn itself off in the middle of the shower. The hotel is on International Drive and thus near a ton of restaurants and attractions, and is between stops 10 and 11 on the iTrolly, which was pretty convenient, but there are plenty of better hotels along the drive, and I'd recommend choosing one of those instead.
OKAY
The hotel is an older complex. It was clean. Not luxury, but clean. The photos and name sometimes make you think a nicer hotel. Would have perfered newer hotel. The front desk was friendly.
Waste of time and money, AWFUL!
We arrived in Orlando on new years eve and went straight to the hotel and arrived at around 7pm. I had booked a King executive room and I had booked around 6 weeks in advance. This hotel was recommended to a friend from a travel agent so we decided to stay here. When we arrived we stood at the front of the line and waited for around 5 minutes for service while there was two people behind the counter but no one being served. When I approached the counter and was being checked into my room I was informed that they no longer had my room available and could only give me two double beds. The lady behind the counter was rude and spoke to a fellow employee in Spanish in front of us. She also gave us the wrong key for the room so I had to make two trips back to the front office which wasted almost half an hour of our time. When we finally got into our room, the paint was peeling from the walls, the room smelt like bleech and the microwave didnt work. To top it all off the shower was leaking and the toilet wouldnt flush. After ringing the front desk and getting very little help I decided that I no longer wanted to stay at the hotel and decided instead of spending 5 nights smelling like bleech I would spend some more money and stay somewhere else. For an extra $20 a night I moved to a 4 star Hilton hotel with much nicer staff and facilities. Later that night when I wanted something to eat, I rang the front desk to ask for some knifes and folks to which they said "I'm sorry but we dont have any in the hotel". I had no idea that the hotel had changed hands, but I would never stay in the place again and Holiday Inn should be ashamed to have their name associated at the time with these people.
The Perfect Location
This is a budget hotel and as long as you bear that in mind, then you will have no problems. Our room was a little worse for wear, but perfectly acceptable and clean. It had all of the afacilities that you would need for a stay in Orlando. The public areas were well maintained and welcoming. We ate in the restaurant on a couple of occasions and the food was fine and reasonably priced. All in all, nothing special to look at, but great value for money. Where this hotel really wins is in it's location. A five minute drive to Universal and a five minute walk to Wet&Wild. Within a two minute walk of the hotel there are over a dozen eateries where you can get any type of food imaginable from Asian buffet to Pizza Hut! You are also close to bars and supermarkets. If you are going to Orlando to spend time at your hotel, this may not be the place for you. If, however you are going to Orlando for the theme parks and need somewhere convienient to crash at the end of the day, this hotel fits the bill perfectly.
Excellent Facility
We had a great time staying on December 26, 2009 and January 5, 2010. Our agent Maria Teresa Carney was outstanding. She made sure our stay was like in the penthouse! I will return to your resort and am recommending it to all my family and friends.
