Spent 10 days at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Was put off a little by some of the Reviews about the resort prior to our arrival. However we can honestly say that we had nothing to complain about. Our room was in Block 8, and it was always kept clean and... more

Apr 2011, I love Florida

I stayed here with my mum and dad in August 2010 and it was superb. The staff were friendly, the hotel had lush gardens and nice swimming pools. We are coming back this year and staying here again. I strongly recommend this hotel!

We, like others, research our hotel on the internet before we go away and were a little worried by some of the reviews which people had left about the Wyndham. We arrived on a Thursday afternoon to find thankfully that none of these bad reviews were true. Our room had two... more

Having read all of the fantastic reviews here I was sure that this was going to be a great place to stay. However the hotel is a little passed it and in need of some updating. The bathroom wasn't nice, the internet didn't work and the safes are old. They assured me that... more

Needs new carpeting!!
My husband, 2 children and I stayed here 7/03 for 4 nights. Two of those nights we were not able to sleep because of noise above and beside us. The walls were extremely thin. The carpet was so filthy we did not want to walk on it in bare feet. On first night one of the childrens bed was not made properly but was fixed when we asked. And don't expect to be let in your room 1 second prior to check-in time at 4pm! Also the shuttle service was very unreliable, we took taxis most of the week. On the plus side the grounds were very nice, pools fairly clean and staff friendly. Would not stay here again.
not a 4 star hotel
went to the wyndham july 5,03 for 7 nites was not happy with the free shuttle they offer 3 out of the 4 days i needed the shuttle it drove right by and then did not come back for 30 mins when i went inside to let them know they did not seem to care so me and my family ended up paying for a taxis who wants to wait . this hotel is not a 4 star hotel at all in my book it is just about a 2 star on my last day there we were walking back from breakfast they were cleaning out the lagoon and putting all the mud on the sidewalk . if it was a 4 star hotel i think they would know not to to the mud on the side walk.
Horrible, Kids were scared to stay here
This place was horrible, from the point of first pulling up to this place we automatically knew there would be a problem. Where they get off rating this place a four star is beyond me. The Wyndham Resort is equal to a Days Inn or Motel 6. I can tell you we walked into our room and walked right back out. The carpet was filthy, bed linens looked old, bathroom was equally disgusting. My three kids were scared to stay here. Hallways dark and walls dirty. Needless to say we did not stay here, we cancelled our reservation and stayed at the Marriott World Center Resort, a REAL resort. It cost us $40 more a night but oh so well worth it. Be warned, anybody giving the place a good rating, may have a complete different opinion of what a resort should be, dont waste your money.
Fairy Tale Wonderful
We just got in the house about one-half hour ago and everything was so wonderful that I just had to get online and let you know. The hotel room was just beautiful; the grounds are unbelievable; the staff is extraordinary; and, the hotel dining was scrumptious. We had an absolute fairy tale vacation at the Wyndham Orlando Resort, used AirTran from Baltimore, and every second was just fabulous. The I-trolley right outside the hotel lobby runs up and down International and stops for sightseeing. You can walk to shopping, dining, Ripleys Believe-It-or-Not, the Mecada and other areas, and get right back to the Resort to swim. The weather was sooooo nice with a tropical feeling breeze, and the ducks and Lagoon are picture perfect. We plan to go again next year to repeat the experience. This is one of the best vacations we have been on for the last several years. Other vacationeers at the Hotel told us essentially the same thing. they do it RIGHT by their Hotel guests.
Absolutely Amazing
I do not know what these people are talking about in their reviews....it's ridiculous. I was actually going to change my accommodations because of these reviews. I am soooooooo glad I didn't!!! This resort is absolutely amazing. The staff provided first class service! The room was very clean and had all of the amenties we desired. The grounds are BREATHTAKING, comprising of lagoons, rustic wooden benches, even cute baby ducks would visit the Gatorville Pool Bar. There was NO NOISE, just relaxation as far as you could see. We never ate at the restaurant, because of fiscal contraints (it's sort of expensive), but we had a starbucks coffee and bagel every morning from the market place cafe. You are right in the middle of the action in Orlando, with Universal's City Walk right around the corner practically! We stayed 9 days, 8 nights and had the time of our lives. I highly reccommend staying at this resort. Don't listen to the bad reviews....it sounds as if these people were just a little to pretentious and would probably not be pleased at the Ritz Carlton either! HAVE FUN IN ORLANDO!!!!!!! GO TO DISCOVERY COVE!!!!
Fit our needs
My boyfriend and I visited Orlando in April of 2003; we stayed at the Whyndham and found it to fit all of out needs. Before leaving I read the other reviews left about this hotel, and was very apprehensive about staying at the Whyndham. I'm really glad I kept an open mind about this hotel. . Since both of us are not old enough to rent a car, being right on international drive suited us just fine. The hotel is definitely over rated as a 4 star hotel, but it is definitely a 3. The rooms were nothing out of the ordinary, but the grounds definitely made up for that. I would recommend anyone to stay at this hotel.
Very Pleased
We stayed at the Wyndham from April 23-25, 2003 and were very pleased. The grounds are very nice and our kids loved the four swimming pools. One of the pools is specifically for small children and is very nice. After hectic days at Disney, it was nice to return to the resort, eat dinner by the pool, and enjoy a few tripical drinks to boot. The hotel gets lots of visitors from around the world, particularly the UK, and we met many pleasant tourists. Fitness center is nice, the business center helps in a pinch too. Although the location is a little odd as pointed out below (its right on the main drag on Orlando, which suprised me), once you enter the facilities' large grounds you jave no idea its on the main street. The employees were very nice and we enjoyed it very much. Highly reccommend.
the grounds was very very nice
The people at the front desk was very helpful and nice, there was problems with getting into our room a few times, so they gave us free breakfast for the five of us, which the food was very good at the resort. the garden and the grounds was very nice, large and clean. Around the corner there is stores, close to the major highway and Restaurants. The carpet in the rooms needed to be shampoo and in the bathroom it needed some minor repairs other than that the room was clean. there was a lot to do at the resort. I hope this will help.
disappointed
I stayed at the Wyndham Orlando in March 2003 and was quite disappointed by my experience. First of all, check-in was a nightmare. I, along with a long line of other weary travelers, had to wait at least 20 minutes to check-in. There was only 3 desk clerks and a crowd of about 45 people (and this appeared to be the norm throughout my stay, rather than the exception)! Anyway, once I checked in and we (my 3 year old and mother) arrived at our rooms (which were reserved 4 months prior, and confirmed 5 days prior to our arrival) we realized that there was an error. Rather than an executive suite with a connecting room, all on the second floor, overlooking the garden and far from the pool, we had an executive suite with another room very far way, all on the bottom floor right next to the pool. So, much for confirming reservations with the head manager prior to arrival!! Anyway, I informed the front desk of the mix up and they were none to eager to remedy the situation. After a bit of confrontation, they then informed me that the roof of our intended room had collapsed. HUM??? Well, needless to say, the rooms we were assigned, were VERY noisy. The walls and floors of this hotel lack proper insulation to keep it quiet. In fact when one person slams their door, the walls throughout the entire hallway shake. Additionally it is like a huge echo chamber. So, the noises reverberate throughout the entire hall. If, I were going to stay again (which I won't), I would request (which obviously doesn't do any good) a room with an outside entrance. These appeared to be a bit more quiet and secluded than those contained within an enclosed unit. I must say in all fairness that there were a few nice qualities about the hotel. First of all, the grounds were kept rather nice. The gardens were lush and the grass both green and perfectly manicured. Also, the food at the hotel (including room service, which always arrived in a timely manner) was good (not great).
enjoyed our stay
We just returned from our trip to Orlando. We booked a package deal through our travel agent that included accomodations at the Wyndham Orlando. We were treated as true guests. The staff was wonderful to deal with. When we weren't completely satisfied with our original room, all we had to do was ask, and we were given a free upgrade at no additional charge. We enjoyed the surrounding gardens and grounds and found everything to be well maintained. We would recommend a stay at the Wyndham to anyone vacationing in Orlando.
