We have stayed in Calis a dozen times in the last 20 years, several of those in the Seketur Hotel. It had been getting run down, but the efforts to smarten up are visible. Rooms are clean, perhaps on the basic side, but TV, hair dryer, and airconditioning are provided. Extra facilities e.g. a fridge or access to one can be provided at small cost, and a safety deposit box in the reception area. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for the staff and Melih at reception and Peri in the Cafe Sim deserve special mention. They had even bothered to find out which family room we used to have when we travelled with our daughter, and though we now came as a couple, we were given our familiar room. We appreciated the joke and the extra space it gave us.
Breakfast is exactly as advertised - Turkish. There is plenty of it though it doesn't vary much. Cereals are now available (but sugar granules had to be requested as sugar cubes aren't a lot of use! One request was enough). In many hotels an omelette or pancake option is available daily. In fairness, if you want a fried egg for breakfast or an omelette you have only to ask. The view from the front of the restaurant is wonderful, though the restaurant itself is in need of some refurbishment (and I'm told this is planned for this winter).
In short it's a great resort. This hotel is clean, comfortable and welcoming with friendly staff. I'm hoping that next year we'll give it a score of 10/10. We'll be going back, and there can't be a better recommendation.

This was our 3rd visit to the Calis area and our first stay at the Seketur. I'd read several reviews saying the hotel was run down and in need of refurbishment but was pleasantly surprised with both our room and all the public areas. Our room was on the second floor of the block seperate to the main reception. The sea view from our balcony was one of the best views we've ever had and hearing the waves in the quiet of the night was lovely. Our room was cleaned every day and very thoroughly, the gardens were very pretty and all areas were exceptionally clean and tidy. We liked how the hotel was set out in a kind of complex, with the reception, pool, bar and restaurant all in their own areas. We spent many evenings in the Sim bar, the hotels open air bar where they serve divine cocktails! The restaurant is on a raised terrace which catches a lovely breeze and has amazing views of the famous Calis sunset. The only shame is the food wasn't great, breakfast was typically turkish and perfectly fine, but there was only one hot choice of meal each evening and was quite samey, but for the price we paid still very good value. We knew in advance we would eat out a lot of nights anyway so weren't too bothered, but would have spent more evenings eating in just for the lovely atmosphere if the food had been better.
All the staff were fantastic...friendly and helpful without being too full on or in your face. Would we return to the Seketur? Most definately!

We’re a family of four with two teenage boys and found the Seketur very good indeed. The location is great - right on the end of the main strip of bars/restaurants so you get the convenience without much of the noise. A lot of the rooms have seaviews. Rooms are fairly basic, but one of our two had been renovated and both were fine. The maid service is great - nice touches like fresh flowers in the towels.
All the staff from the manager down were very helpful and friendly - special mention for Mustapha the barman. They were very responsive when we decided to book an extra night to cope with our difficult flight time and gave us a nice deal even though we weren’t in a position to bargain.
Only weak point is restaurant - fine for breakfast, not a great option for dinner.
We’d recommend it.

A most wonderful holiday destination in Calis and more than adequate accommodation in the Seketur Hotel. Breakfast overlooking the sea was like heaven on earth. A wonderful selection of restaurants and snack bars are a short walk away.
The beach in front of the hotel is clean with no overcrowding. Highly recommended and we will be returning next year.

Weather was perfect. We agree with all the other good remarks about this hotel.
We were early in the season and the hotel was less than a quarter full, our wing had been refurbished.
Looking at the other hotels around this could not be bettered for its beach frontage and large pool.

Calis Beach has been our destination of choice for the previous 9 years. First impressions of the resort are misleading as they look decidedly rough and ready but the approaches to the resort have been improved over the years.
On reaching the seafront you are faced with one of the best views in the world. At sunset it is beautiful. The promenade has been greatly upgraded over the period we have visited Calis going from a rough, unmade road to a very attractive monoblocked walkway with palm trees and some areas of flowers between it and the sea wall.
The majority of eating places are sited along the front ranging from very good sea food restaurants to small snack bars all of them with friendly efficient staff and reasonable prices.
I know of no complaints in respect of any of the premises.
The Hotel Seketur has a beachfront location and is very well run. The fabric of the hotel is beginning to become a little worn and in need of an upgrade but is still acceptable. The staff are efficient and friendly and prices reasonable. The breakfast food was good and varied. Their beachfront ‘Sim’ bar is probably the best in the resort for comfort, entertainment and ambience.
The whole atmosphere of the resort is very friendly, both locals and tourists, and it attracts many return visits.
The entire area is very flat and it is easy to get around if you were less than 100% fit.
You would not need to leave Calis for eating but the main town of the area, Fethiye, is only about 20 minutes away by local ‘bus, dolmus or 30 minutes by water taxi(the best way to go).
From Fethiye it is possible to go on boat trips or take the local buses or dolmus to neighbouring resorts(recommended).
The beach at Calis is shingle ranging in size from tiny grains to cricket ball size stones.
The resort suits people who do not want noise, karaoke or international burger outlets.
I should also mention that the journey from Dalaman Airport to the resort is memorable. The road climbs up into the mountains then comes down again all the way through heavily wooded countryside more alpine in appearance than you would expect in Turkey.
We enjoy it so much we have already booked for June 2005 and expect to return in September(as usual).

We are regular visitors to Calis. First time at the Seketur. The location is perfect for beach lovers or anyone who simply enjoys sea views.
The hotel decoration and fittings are beginning to show their age and must be due an upgrade soon. However it is well maintained and the maids do a good job.
There is a nice pool which is well looked after and there were always sun beds available.
The food was good and varied and the dining area well placed on the seafront. The snacks available were good quality and the service quick and pleasant
The Sim bar at the hotel is one of the most comfortable and relaxing places where I have ever enjoyed a drink.
All the staff were very friendly and very good at their jobs. With an upgrade the Seketur could be the best hotel in the resort.

can only agree with Miss. O’Connor’s comments, especially Ramsay the waiter.
Only criticism was that hotel is a bit shabby, but understand that re-furb is not too distant.
If you do not need access suitable for wheelchair etc there are better hotels in Calis at the same prices, but basically the Seketur is OK.
Ate at the restaurant one night, not v. good, but think it is operated separate from the hotel.
