Hotel Alay

I’ll start off by saying that this wasn’t the hotel we were supposed to be staying in. We were booked into another hotel but it was overbooked when we arrived so we got sent to the ALAY. This hotel was apparently a star higher than where we were supposed 2 be staying, so we thought it must be better... Oh how wrong we were!! Where to start....
The Location - very good! Being right next to the beach, the marina, and the nightlife!! We got a 12th floor room with a brilliant view although the lifts take forever to get there!!
The Rooms - not bad, but the bathroom was small and the shower leaked every time we used it! There was no fridge in the room either which is useless!!
The Food - the same pretty much every day, with bread rolls that could break a window! A buffet style serving with the food often being left out quite a while! The food generally not very nice so i would definitely recommend eating out!!
The Entertainment - BORING!! A man sitting on a piano all night singing and playing songs that would send you to sleep! Nothing for children whatsoever!!
The Facilities - the pool - at a level of 2m throughout is not good at all for children the elderly or pregnant people who may like 2 stand up occasionally! The pool that is part of the Alay apartments is so much better, having a deeper end and a shallow end and also a baby pool, only bad thing is that you have to pay for sun loungers at that pool.
Seating areas - absolutely loads of them and they never get filled! The main lobby is just seats seats and more seats!
Internet - doesn’t work and takes your money!
Pool table - none of the cues have tips!! And it costs 2euros for 1 game!! Again the apartments have a better table only paying 1 euro and all cues had tips!!
Bar - expensive!!
Snack bar - had nicer food than that of a night time and much more choice, ham and cheese sandwiches are recommended!!
Tennis court - although I didn’t play myself it looked like a decent court!
Staff - reception - most are friendly enough and will help with any problems
Bar - crack a smile... It wont hurt!
Dinner - friendly enough and very quick at clearing your plate away even if u haven’t finished!
Maids - quite noisy! But do a good enough job supplying fresh towels everyday if need be!
In general you can tell this is a business hotel by the lack of excitement around the place!! There is absolutely nothing for young kids and it tends to be a place for couples, Spaniards and older people, only good thing is the location!
