Me and my family of 6 went to the olympic hotel and on arrival we were presented with drinks cards we had to show for drinks. this system took alot longer than a wristband system.
we were then quite disappointed as the rooms were very small and not cleaned fully. Also in the first couple of hours we had our evening meal and were even more disappointed as it wasnt that nice but it had a childrens set of food like pasta.
we had a day by the pool and the pool was great and we met alot of great people. the animation team regulary came round with games for both children and adults. the only fun games were killere darts and rifle shooting and archery. But there was loads of games for kids like a crazy game everyday.
the staff were very strict with there rules which seamed to change daily. Like only 2 drinks per person and only if you got two drinks card but then the next day you could get 3. also they seemed to change their rules if a girls ordering then to a guy.
the night time entertainment wasnt very good but after the show they played song for people to dance to and taught everyone the dances. Most of these were for children but every one could join in.
I would advise if you're going to this hotel get involved in everything and you will have a great time.
Hope this helps.

Upon arrival there was a slightly odd smell in reception, the hotel resembles an instituion, its very dated, a typical 1960's package holiday residence.
on the positive it was cheap as chips, the pools were lovely although the large pool was extremely crowded, you could read book of the person lying next to you. the queues were long !!! and the one drink at a time rule was tiresome. the food although not great was edible.
the entertainment was mixed but we didn't stay in the hotel anyway, there are some lovely beach bars.
there were some plus points, the holiday was cheap so use it as a base and go exploring, Gringo's joes across the road is cheap to eat but the food is really lovely. also its only a short walk to the beach and you can use the htop beach bar (to the right as you walk under the train trackes) for one free drink per day. in addition you can get half price vouchers for the sunbeds and loungers.
overall you get what you pay for, we enjoyed out week and in terms of value for money it was pretty good, we paid less than 250.00 per person for a week all inclusive it was never going to be the ritz.

Basically:
Food: Okay, could always find something nice to eat. Ice-cream served at the bar for the children. Sandwhiches and crisps served until mid-night, but are limited.
Rooms: Very small, could hardly move. ( 4 people ) but, were clean. Beds are fine. Wardrobe space is good.
Staff: Staff are either very kind or very nasty. Reception is terrible!
Pool: freezing as we went in April.
Location: Ok, since we got stuck in Spain due to ash cloud the internet cafe down the road was helpful and cheaper than the hotel's internet.
Entertainment: More for the kids. And then a mixture of songs, not really "now".
Alot of schools went there for trips. Most people were British, but that might be because of the ash cloud.

I visited this hotel last week after deciding to ignore the reviews as I thought people where always moaning (how wrong was I).
Arriving at lunch time the hotel reception looked very promising however when getting to our room there was husband, myself and 4 year old on two single beds with a camp bed added on the end. The mattresses where not just poor they where ripped held together with material. You could not walk around the bed only one at a time and the room itself was very shabby could have probably got this quality in a hostel (no joke).
The pool areas where okay and the entertainment staff where very good however the bar staff where very rude and you where only allowed to get a half drink at a time and waited every time day or night at the bar for roughly 20 minutes (good job I am not one for getting drunk). My husband went once with three cards for two halves and a milk shake and they expected my 4 year old to que.
The dinning hall was like a school dinning hall and it was okay if you like salad and nice bread with no ham, cheese etc however there is no kids meals (hence we took little one to McDonalds plenty) and you struggled for tables often waiting for the ignorant staff (except the very nice man on the door to clear away).
To sum up in total this hotel is not cheap and cheerful it is a wash out.

The Hotel is very nice and the food is better than it says on the reviews!! There is a big pool and there is plenty of drinks etc for everyone. The security guards and reception staff etc. are all very friendly and never have any problems- the only problem´s is the room! There is no space to move around what so ever there is 4 beds squashed up together and it´s no good! There is 2 small pools outside which go down to 2mtrs deep and then there is a big pool out the back which go down to 2.52mtrs

We as a family arrived at the Hotel on Saturday 31st July 2010 with Ferris Coach Holidays looking forward to a lovely family break in Costa Brava which we had previously been to the year before with a differnet Hotel & Area.
As soon as My Parent´s, Me & My Brother arrived at the hotel we thought that it looked really nice with 2 outdoor pools on view at the front.
All was going well and we started to walk to our room on the First Floor of the hotel. My mum opened the door and we walked in expecting a big room for a family of 4. We did not get that by any stretch of imagination; in fact we got a double room with 4 beds squashed up against each other. This was bad.
My mum came down to reception asking for a bigger room and the Hotel staff told my mum that it was the biggest room they had!! my mum wasn´t having it and got very emotional due to the fact that they didn´t really care about their customers and holiday-makers!!
I would say that the Hotel food was pretty much the same however we didnt enjoy the first part of our family holiday.
Staff are very friendly however the ques are big and they are very tight on what you can get on the áll inclusive´offer.
It was ok, but my mum rang up Ferris´ office and asked for a holiday transfer. Not good!!!

Prior to my last minute holiday I foolishly read some reviews on here!! Wishing I hadn't we left feeling very uneasy about where we were heading for a week! My husband kept reassuring me it would be fine and IT WAS!
We arrived to welcoming staff in a clean and bright and airy reception. Got the life up to our room, which is basic - twin beds, wardrobes, chair tv and en-suite bathroom, everything that is needed. Bedding was clean and room cleaned daily. Air con that worked as havig been away before have had experiences of no aircon so this is definetley a plus.
Pool area all fine, plenty sun loungers and chairs.
Entertainment is poor but its what you make of it yourself.
As with the majority of all-inclusive you are limited to the amount of drinks you can get at one time.
Food wasn't to be the best of standards(not mine anyway) but always something there to eat and always hot(chips&rolls all the time) so you won't go hungry!
All in all the hotel is good and clean. Food is basic. Pool area is clean - all 3 pools! and the sun shines.
Please don't worry & make yourself a wreck like I did before going.

been to a few h-top hotels and they have been very good ,this 1 is awfull ,,,i have been travelling to spain every year except 3 since 1964 and love the place ..but this hotel is BAD the all inclusive is a waste of time as the food is poor and cold we stayed 11 nights and had pork for lunch and evening meal 9 days ,,as for the drinks where do i start ??? firstly all the drinks are half stregth ie 20% proof then theres the queueing any thing up to 45 mins in the evening and 20 mins in daytime ,,,after we had been there 4 days they started using optics on the spirits 1 measure and that was it in a half litre plastic glass filled with ice and lemonade ,,then 2 days before we left they bought in another rule 1 drink per card it was really not fun queueing for 45 mins for 1 drink that u could not taste so we all went out and bought our own and sat in smoking room ....the staff were not at all interested if u were brittish and never did anything about our complaints (noise till 4.30 every morning as there were allways kids running riot playing footy on landing etc )on more than 1 occasion there were condoms on the steps into the hotel(used),we paid £650 for the 2 of us and im sorry but it wasnt worth £6.50,,by the way non of the other h-top hotels had the same rules with drinks or used optics and were full stregth drinks ,,so my advice would be pay extra £50 pppw and stay at 1 of there other hotels,,,,,,this is the first time i have ever felt it neccessary to write a review in 46 years of going to spain ,,,,PLEASE BE AWARE THAT U WILL GET NO SLEEP ,HAVE POOR FOOD ,,,AND BE MORE LIKELY TO DROWNED IN THE DRINK THAN GET DRUNK,,,ps we did complain again on our last morning before leaving ,explaining our concers and the assistant manager walked away laughing and never returned

Do not go there. Food is awfull really greazy. That bad we ate out 4 times in a row and what you have for dinner you have for tea.not good for prams or disable people.had to fight gemans and spanish for lifts even if we were first in que. Room felt in fact i was a sardine. there were 4 beds. 2 adults 2 children. could not open the balcony door as the bed was in the way the room smelt stale. the nicest staff was 1 cleaner. my mother who came with us had her bag pinched while going to the pool. we were never warned even though the hotel was know for it(which we later found out at the police station)and while we were there another 6 were took. don't go

Hope this review helps others to make their mind up before booking this accommodation. Just back from this hotel, staff are friendly, helpfull and cheery. On entering the hotel the reception is very nice untill you get to your room! On reaching the room the door puts you off before entering as they the colour scheme is awful and each door looks like they have been tampered with. The rooms are very basic, beds are very hard and uncomfortable. However rooms are cleaned everyday. You can hear every noise from people next door even in the toilet. The food was repeated constantly, not enough covers over the food and flys were landing on top of the food, plates and around your head whilst you were eating. Also the food was not cooked long enough for my liking and was often cold. We went all inclusive and was fair value for money if you don't mind eating the same foods day after day and drinking the local bervages. The only thing that bothered me was the length of the queues at the bar and dining room for a drink and when you eventually did get served you could only get one drink per person with a max of two cards. The drinks were given in half pint glasses and was filled with ice, which ment you had to go to the end of the queue minutes later to get another. Calella however is a beautiful place, and i would go back there but not to the Olympic Hotel. If you are thinking of coming to this hotel i would say pay a bit extra and go to a four star as they are much nicer rooms and food. The entertainment in the hotel was not up to much either as i have seen better at haven holiday camps or buskers outside our local asda. All in all a good holiday but hotel rooms could be made more comfortable.

OK so our holiday was allocation on arrival, although i cant believe i payed what i did for this holiday, it was still to much for what we received once we got there! Rooms are very old and in a desperate need of an upgrade, food was OK if you like salad and chicken wings,oh and fried liver, there's also the long ques to get a drink!! Our room smelt of the dirty drains( a smell of egg from the air con) and all four of us came back sick!! I need another holiday to recover from this one, i would never go back to this hotel. On the plus side the beach is lovely and there are nice restaurants in the town to eat, which believe me, you will need!
