" Just back from a stay at the Karda... "
Submitted By: Ms J JoansArrived early in the morning and was greeted by an abrupt receptionist, who struggled to speek english- got to our rooms, we very told to help ourselves to drinks from the bar, I thought that this was a nice touch, however the bar area had a terrible smell (almost like sick) from it, as the holiday went on it was clear that this smell was here to stay.
A family room was ordered for 2 adults and 2 kids, the room was clean enough, however very small for a family room, we were lucky that our youngest kid was only 2 therefore had plenty room in the small bunk bed. The room had a fridge but it didn't work as it should therefore nothing was cold. There is also a safe which can be hired for 3euros per day.
The food was acceptable, on certain days not much choice for kids the meat was quite salty but at each meal there was certainly something for everyone to choose from, although it did get very repetitive.
There are 2 pools one big one small, they were both clean, however beware around the edge of the pools are exceptionally slippery (I watched a few people fall), there are 2 flumes but these were not switched on for the entire 2 weeks, so unsure if they are even in use. There isn't much room around the pool area for many sunbeds, so if it was the peak of the season this may cause some problems if you like to lie and watch the day go by at the pool. The pool bar opens at 10am till approx 6pm the drinks are served in paper cups even if you are sittig in the bar area!!
The majority of the staff at this hotel are friendly, although some of the particularly one waitress didn't smile the whole time we were there! Their is an lanimation team consisting of 4 people, they provide activities for everyone throughout the day and night and they do a very good job, my little boy just loved the mini disco which was every night at 8.30pm. The animation team keep you smiling even if the other staff don't. As someone has also mentioned there is a small shop on site- this sells all the basics at a good price.
The hotel is full of cats, flies and ants, as a lover of none I found it a difficult 14 days chasing each of them away.
The beach is a stones through away, with free sunbeds, and clear waters, and the town of Kardamena is about a twenty minute walk along the beach, nice walk. If you are young and going out in town for the night beware the gate which you leave, the hotel locks at 1am then you have to go the long long way- just get a taxi for 5Euros.
Overall I had a good holiday at this resort. The hotel was very average and certainly not a four star.

" Wonderful hotel! After staying with... "
Submitted By: Miss D SchachtAnd also not forgetting the wonderful barman kris! He was very polite always made sure everyone was enjoying there stay of an eve.
If you are due to stay here he will make sure your drinks are topped up.
The hotel caters for all ages.
I went to Kos for more of a clubbing holiday and we got it! All bars were just a 15 minutes walk or a sort cab ride which is 5 euro each way. Unfortunately the locals selling roses hats and glow do get annoying and don’t like taking no for an answer.
The beach is just a 5 minutes walk at the back of the hotel. So it’s nice to see clear waters for a change.
The main thing I was very unhappy about was med hotel I will never consider booking with them again I saw the there rep once out of our 2 week stay, the rep didn’t seem organised at all. And was more interested in speaking to the older people of the group than the younger.
Overall the hotel was great def recommend it!

" I just returned from Kos this morning... "
Submitted By: Miss SKA FarnhamI was bit weary of all inclusive as I’m and incredibly fussy on what I eat, but the food was surprisingly good.
For breakfast there was bacon, eggs, sausages, pancakes or just plain toast or cereal.
Lunch and dinner were both similar but slightly varied each day, I wasn’t always 100% keen on what was to offer, but I for sure never went hungry! I personally don’t see what other people have moaned about!
Sunloungers surround the pool area and if you don’t want to be in the sun there’s always shady areas under the snack bar or just outside the main building.
There is a shop on site for any little essentials you might need, it does shut in the middle of the day and re-open at night.
The beach is literally 5min walk from hotel and is surprising peaceful and uncrowded.
Kardamena is 15 mins walk along beach and has an amazing nightlife!
Beware of the crazy locals trying to sell you roses and glow sticks they don’t take no for an answer!
The hotel has an animation team who are incredibly hard working people my two male friends fell in love with Mia and MiMi and Valentino is rather yummy. There are little kids discos every night which we loved listening to all our childhood nursery rhymes.
But overall excellent hols would recommend to all ages would def go back next year maybe for 2 weeks!

" Just returned from a lovely week at... "
Submitted By: SE WalsheThe location is perfect, only a 10 minute walk along the beach road to Kardamena.
Beach is a 2 minute stroll from the hotel where loungers and parasols are free to Karda village guests. Never gets too crowded and is very peaceful.
Food is served buffet style with a great selection of fresh salads, cheeses and a varied selection of hot dishes, pasta, fish, beef, pork etc
Bedrooms are very spacious and spotless with fridges and are air conditioned. Safes are available to hire for a small fee of 3 Euros per day.
Entertainment is geared more towards kids with mini discos etc but does also have quiz, bingo and a Greek night which unfortunately we missed. Sometimes a bit amateur but fine nonetheless.
Overall we enjoyed our stay very much at the Karda village and would not hesitate in booking this hotel again.
Staff are polite and friendly and make you feel welcome.

" Poor hotel! Rubbish food, rude staff,... "
Submitted By: Mrs H JFirst Choice rep miserable at the best of times. Kids club and entertainment also poor.
Certainly not a 4* hotel and no comparison with other 4* hotels we have stayed in at Kardamena, Kos.
Flies everywhere in the restaurant - which only signifies a lack of cleanliness!
The hotel ran out of beer and local spirits on 3 occasions in one week!
Only good points were excellent maid service.

" Overall holiday everyone was friendly... "
Submitted By: Miss G SmithThe First Choice reps were great with kids and the hotel entertainment was okay, although we was there 2 weeks and found the repetition a little frustrating.
The pool area gets very busy but we always got loungers no matter what time, and the daytime activities were generally good.
Would recommend booking your trips through the locals as its half the price the reps charge and they pick you up from the hotel and return you.
We did the Turkey Bodrum trip which was great if you love shopping and markets and they take credit cards out there too.
The bad points of our holiday was the food, the food was lovely however the restaurant is full of flies and although its clean there is nothing the staff can do to get rid of it.
There is a good choice of food and the standard is good but it’s the same menu every day virtually and there isn’t much to cater for fussy children except chips, chips and more chips.
A few of us made complaints and was rewarded one evening by chicken nuggets much to the kids delight, however this only happened once the whole holiday.
The manager and staff are very friendly and will help as much as poss.
We had night flights and extended our late checkout until the point of departure which was good as I had an infant and this was only an extra 20 euros.
You can walk to the town via the beach front which is a nice walk during the day but by night is not a good idea as there is no lighting so you are walking in pitch black.
The town itself is good by day but more for 18-30's by night.
When you walk to the beach on the left there is a little tavernas it is great there if you fancy a change from the hotel tiring menu, food is great and very cheap they also have many Greek and English dishes.
Kos town is def worth a visit many shops, restaurants and bars takes bout 20 mins by taxi but was worthwhile.
Overall a great holiday just a shame about the menu and flies let it down.

" We hated our stay at this hotel,... "
Submitted By: Mr J BegleyI wouldn't recommend this place to any one unless you enjoy this type of behaviour. On the plus side though, the hotel cleaning staff are very polite and always welcome you with a warm smile and that's about it.
We have traveled to Kos many times but this was our first time staying at the 'Louis Helios', we love Kos and in general the friendly locals, shame that our experience whilst staying at this hotel has spoilt any future holidays to Kos.

" Just returned from Louis Helios and... "
Submitted By: Mrs R PowellWe could breakfast, go for a walk and there would still be sun beds and umbrellas available. Entertainment was 'very entertaining'. Otti and his gang, Chris, Eva and Gupta worked really hard. Otti is just mad and made us laugh so much, a great asset to the hotel, they were non stop and as the hotel was getting to the end of the season it was hard for Otti and his gang to get people to join in but lots did and this was fun for us all to watch.
Water polo was always very exciting and quite mad, everyone becomes involved as the ball flies around all over the place, you get quite wet if you sunbath nearby. We were quite close to Kardamena, only a short walk of about 15 minutes. The best way to visit is via the beach road, the main road has a lot more traffic and no real paths. The beach road, albeit a road, is much safer. There is a private beach to the hotel which is looked after by one of the hotel staff and he always acknowledged us every day, they soon get used to your face.
Kardamena is full of the usual bars, clubs and gift shops, just nice to walk around, gets quite lively in the evening, however in September probably not as lively as earlier in the season. Taxi back to the hotel is the best way if late at night as lighting along the beach road is not very good, taxi only 5 euros. Would definitely go again, have retuned home thoroughly relaxed.

" Good food, clean rooms, friendly... "
Submitted By: Mr M SavageThe hotel is within walking distance of the town (as long as the rep tells you the right directions), so there is no real hassle of having to get a taxi. The enthusiasm of the animation team was infectious and definitely helped to make the holiday top.
So good in fact we are going again summer 2006.

" Lovely hotel, not too big. Very clean... "
Submitted By: Mrs A LynesVery good choice of food, and plenty of it. Loungers around pool were not reserved by the time you got up. Short walk into Kardamena, for shops, etc. Safe also to walk at night for the bars and restaurants. Hotel next to private beach also with loungers and umbrellas. Staff are all very helpfull and friendly.

The Animation Team, organised all of the entertainment day and evening, including a kids club if needed. They were a great bunch of people and good fun. We went all inclusive, so had drinks of all sorts, and snacks between meals, if you could possibly eat anything more. Would definitely recommend.
