Sept 2010. Not too bad a hotel though the AI is terrible. Breakfast 8-9 advertised on their website as 8-10.30, lunch 12.45 to 1.30 advertised 12.30 to 2pm and dinner 7-8pm advertised 7-9pm. Each time we had to queue which most of the time we were unable to with two... more

lots of very noisy youngsters
We stayed here with our two young children in june 2007 for one week. My parents, brother and sis in law and aunt and uncle also travelled with us, they stayed for 2 weeks. Our flight to barcelona was delayed quite some so we were late arriving at the hotel (think we arrived around midnight). There was a night porter who spoke no english! He gave us our room key, we got ion the very tiny lift and proceded to the 3rd floor to our rrom. We got the the room and the key did not work, hubby left me with the luggage and two sleeping children and went back down to reception. The card was activated, we opened the room only to find there were people in there!!!!! So, after an hour of the night porter trying to find us another room, we ended up in a 3 bedded room instead of a 4 for the first night of our holiday. NOT IMPRESSED!!!!!!!!! Another bed was bought to our room the following day. Room sizes were ok, not huge but plenty of room. Ask for a pool side room before you go, these rooms tend to be bigger and have larger balconies. None of our party were situated together like we had requested before leaving the UK, infact the only floor none of us was on was the 4th (work that out!) FOOD: Breakfast, not so good. Always a selection of cereals for the kids. Very continental orientated but then you are in spain! Evening meal, was actually pleasantly surprised although not so great if u are a vegetarian. Always seemed to be a good selection of desserts, better than last year I am informed by my dad who has been to this hotel 6 times! THE HUGE PROBLEM: LOTS of young germans who seem to think that they own the hotel, push their way to the lifts and generally cause a nuisance especially in the evening. The partyers next to us were loud until around 2 am, when i finally lost it with them! They were knocking our door, banging on the walls, shouting, singing, running up and down the corridors. The walls in this hotel are particulrly thin so take ear plugs! I know this was much the same on all floors in the hotel, except the 1st floor. PLUS POINTS: Very clean hotel, excellent maid service, lovely pool area, plenty of sun loungers, close to some excellent british pubs, kids entertainment was ok. Calella itself is lovely, previously stayed in Esplai hotel and olympic hotel both of which i would return to. I would go to calella again but would only stay at this hltel again if no other hotel was available!!!!!
A great hotel let down by it's clients
I do like the Bon Repos, I have stayed there twice now and have already booked to return in October. The rooms are, for the most part, spacious and they are always well maintained and clean, the food is well cooked and plentiful. However this year was ruined by the amount of unruly unchaperoned German teenagers in the hotel. There are tour operators in Germany who are specifically set up to take unaccompanied teenagers to the Costa Brava, sort of like 'Spring Break' in America, but all year round. They would start charging up and down corridors at about 9pm, banging on doors and running away, slamming their own doors and screaming and shouting until about 5am. If these groups are going to continue using this hotel and unless you intend to sleep all day and be out of the hotel all night, I would recommend looking for alternative accommodation.
lay off bon repos
i stayed at the bon repos with my partner, son and mother in november 2006 and we were all really impressed with our stay there. we checked in with no fuss what so ever and found the hotel to be outstandingly clean. the staff were really friendly also. okay, the food wasn't the greatest but lets be honest, you get what you pay for in this world, i think all those moaning about it should pay a bit more if they want a bit more holliday satisfaction. i would return to the bon repos tomorrow along with my familey for a cheap and cheerful break.
Not a place for anyone over 30
We have just returned from a short break at this hotel and would not return again. We was told by the travel agent that this was a good family hotel, well they dont know what their talking about. 80% of the guest were aged between 16 and 21 and most were German. Dont get me wrong, they was no fighting or arguing but it was so noisy there was no chance of sleeping. We never went to bed before midnight but the noise which was promoted by the bar staff lasted forever. The food was ok but before you had chance to finish the last bit on your plate the staff was trying to take it away. So to finish i would only recommend this hotel to those of you aged 30 or under.
Real 3 star hotel
We stayed there in May-June 2006. The plan was to go to RedHot chili peppers concert in barcelona, so, we didn't care much about the hotel, only a place to spend the nights at, every day we went somewhere - Barcelona, Tossa de Mar, Water World, etc, etc. What I mean to say is that the location is great. We rented a car to go to Barcelona for as little as some 30 euro per day (there were 6 of us, and a train trip to Barcelona was 5 euro for each, so, renting a car was a good bargain). But back to the hotel - it provides the real 3 star service and facilities. Rooms are smallish, enough space for the beds only (we had 3 per room). Food was ok, edible, and even good. The lunch boxes we could pre-order if we were not going to be at lunch in the hotel on the next day are not worth bothering to order at all - a couple of sandwiches, a banana, an orange and that's it. You have to remember to ask to prepare them on the eve, then to pick them up in the morning and then carry them around when you're somewhere. Don't. Friday night dinner was great though, very dlicious, huge choise of sea food, every girl got a flower from the staff, nice. nonetheless every evening after dinner we went out for another dinner in Calella :-) Surprisingly, having 4 meals a day and several sncks during the day, I lost a couple of kilos there :-) The cafes and restaurants in the neighbourhood are great and cheap. People are very friendly, I went out to buy a sun cream, ended up talking to an old guy from a shop for 2 hours... What was bad is that the hotel was full of young people from Germany who got drunk every night. Very noisy, every evening they brought several 24 can packs of beer to the hotel, drank it all night, sang their songs in the balconies, and then were throwing up in the bathroom which we could perfectly hear for the walls are very thin. They were unavoidable in the streets at night - trying to feel you no matter who you are - a girl or a boy, and at the discos - drunk and sometimes bully. On the day of check-out we had to put our luggae in a big room and leave it there unattended. I understand no one needs it, but still we had to keep the laptops, camcorders and cameras on us, we couldn't leave them there, and it wasn't convenient. The staff speaks English, a bit of Russian, and when I was trying to speak Spanish or Catalan to them, they encouraged me and were very patient :-) learn a couple of phrases to at least greet and thank people and they will appreciate it. The hotel is great for students - for it's cheap and quite decent, and for party-type people and those who is going to spend a busy-busy day somewhere else and only needs the hotel to sleep at
very clean
We stayed here september 2006 found that the hotel was very clean, had quite a poky room and considering we had torrential rain for the 5 days out of 7 found it a bit claustrophobic, but who wouldn't. Perhaps if the weather were different i'd be telling a different story. Food was below average and ate out most of the time. Staff were friendly, entertainment was good for the kids. Pool area nice but didn't spend hardly any time there due to weather. All in all ok but wouldn't go back
absolutley brilliant
Date: 14th September 2006 Reviewer: happy holiday maker, Liverpool UK We have just returned from a long weekend at the hotel and had a wonderful time, I was slightly nervous after reading reviews on the hotel but when we arrived the hotel was spotlessly clean, the staff were very friendly and would do anything for you. There was a lot of choice in the restaurant and there was food for everyone including children. The snack bar served hot dog, hamburgers, chips, toasties you can have as much as you like from 10am to 6.30pm. The entertainment could have been a little bit better, but for out of season visiting it was very good during our stay there was always always a mini disco for the children and then family entertainment at 10pm There was 14 of us that stayed in this hotel of various ages starting from 16 and finishing at 55. Overall we really did have a special holiday and from the price we paid for 4 nights all inclusive we would definitley go back again and are considering booking this holiday again in may 2007. Overall of you just want a cheap break in a lovely hotel close to the beach and shopping facilities then this hotel is ideal for you, if you normally go to exotic places or are really fussy then dont bother. I'd give this hotel and the area around 10/10
terrible food
Hotel was clean and tidy and all the staff were very friendly.housekeeping was very good indeed,as was reception.Entertainment was o.k but not really british orientated. The pool was fine, but when the weather was warm getting a lounger prooved difficult. The major problem with this hotel on this visit was the food.We have visited this hotel 5 times and on this visit it was terrible. The variety was fine, but the quality was very poor indeed. We had to eat out most nights.
was a bit basic
went away for a long weekend with partner in april, found the hotel to be ok, the staff was very nice and friendly, but the rooms was very small and basic. did'nt think much of the breakfast but the lunch and dinner's were quite nice both in taste and variety. i would go back to this hotel but only with my partner not with the kids, it was'nt really a family hotel due to the rooms been so small and the hotel was very noisey at night.
wouldnt go again!
hotel was clean and tidy, rooms were clean and good air conditioning food was terrible only went to brekfast 3times - wasnt worth getting up for desert was appauling - only fruit and jelly no cakes etc.. pool was nice but packed, get sunbeds early if your staying around thepool, must be an 18-30's for germans, so very noisy. especially at night! entertainment was terrible only kiddys disco at 9pm every night. beach is nice but its sand is grit and hurts feet, calella itself is lovely and lots of shops to look around. lots of night life wouldnt go back to the same hotel again.
