I have to admit to being a little wary of taking a holiday in such garish surroundings, but as it was the only 'on site' Disney property we could afford we decided to give it a whirl.
We weren't disappointed! Okay, our request to be placed close to the main building was completely ignored (we were possibly the furthest you could be) and there was the odd cast member (definitely in the minority) who was incapable of following the Disney philosophy through, but all in all we had a fantastic time at the All Star Music Resort.
The rooms are a fair size and kept very clean, although having a sink in the living area was a little disconcerting. A fridge in the room would have been ideal but at $10 per day we decided to give it a miss. Filling a decent cool bag with ice from the machine (one on every floor) and storing it in the bath does the trick!
The food court was always extremely busy during the main dining hours but you could guarantee masses of space if you ate outside the usual American dining hours. The food on offer was fairly average, but you're not at Disneyworld for the food are you? The refillable mugs are an excellent money saver - two weeks worth of drinks for $12 means you can't really go wrong.
All in all, I think the benefits of staying on-site (free transportation around the world and extra time in the parks) far out weigh any negatives and all of my family would be more than happy to spend more time with the gigantic maracas, cowboy boots and guitars!
I have been to Florida before...

I have been to Florida before many times, this time i thought i would push the boat a bit and stay at a Disney hotel, my travel agent seamed very happy to sell me Disney’s all star music resort.
the cost was over £3000. We had emailed ahead to tell them i had requested a ground floor pool view,
As i am disabled and walking impaired, firstly the room was so far from the pool i would have had to spend the holiday on the roof to see the pool,
then getting the luggage from the car park to the room was like a trek in the mountains, my poor husband had to got back and forward 3 times as there was no one to help him.
You know that felling you get when you open your hotel door of excitement, well what hit us was the smell of damp, there was so many cockroaches in the room we felt like asking where they the guests.
That night we got no sleep as we watched them crawl up and down the walls, first thing the next morning we were out of there faster than a speeding bullet.
In Orlando they refer to the Disney all star hotels a value hotels, Disney them selves only charge £22 per night per room, why it cost us so much? Ask Airtours.
The Disney hotel we moved to was a mid range hotel called the Coronado springs it was fantastic every thing a Disney resort hotel should be.
If your going to Orlando on a budget don’t choose a Disney budget hotel there are alot of budget hotels in Orland offering a better service honestly your money will be better spent there.
Although we landed at Orlando...

Although we landed at Orlando International Airport in Hurricane Charley, it didn’t deter us from having a fantastic holiday!! :) After spending the night in Orlando Airport, we arrived at our hotel, which we found VERY comfortable, clean and well equipped. The people were very hospitable and polite. (Friendly)
The food there, was delicious, VERY affordable, but we thought we could have had more variety. The standard of food was very high though!! The local facilities and transport were excellent, we never had to wait very long to get to our destination i.e. a Disney Theme Park, which were AMAZING and we will remember visiting there, for the rest of our lives!! :) :)
Our holiday plan and we were NEVER disappointed stayed on track.
Some advice, for people travelling out to Florida, would be to take as much as they can, to keep cool (especially in the Theme Parks), because it gets VERY HOT, busy and tends to be more expensive to purchase them over there. Also, TRAVEL LIGHT if you can and during busy periods, try to get a fast pass for the rides that tend to be busy (FREE of charge), this way you will not have to queue ages just to get on one ride!!
Have Fun!! and
Enjoy your holiday!! :)
