We have recently been to Kalimera Mare hotel with Kosmar holidays and we loved a lot about this hotel.
But one thing we did not like was the food, it was terrible. It was the same food every day. They would just change the sauce.
The all inclusive was not so good either. The all inclusive would finish at half past 11 in the night and then you had to pay.
The entertainment was good and what the reps had to offer so that’s sort of all.

I can't believe this time last week we were still in Kos!
Well, what to say, Wow! I absolutely loved it there. The hotel was fabulous and the people were amazing!
Anyway, the weather was brilliant, except for a tiny bit of rain on the very start of the second week. I don’t know what the temperature was but it went up to something like 29 degrees midday. Warning: buy beach shoes when going to the beach, hot hot hot sand!
The people, as I said, where amazing! There was the Animation Team who came round the pool asking people (very politely, with good English) if you want to play something. E.G, Richard would come round with water-polo and beach volleyball, and Edward would come round with darts and French balls (or something like that).
Khaled would come round with Archery and Carol and Inga would offer to do activities with your children. Mitsi works at the pool bar. She is such a sweet lady and even let me help her in the bar. She is great at speaking English!
The food station. Let’s just say, chips for breakfast, dinner and tea. Along with barely cooked tinned carrots one night, some sort of meat, a bit of broccoli, some kind of salad bar thing... quite impressive presentation. Orange juice, coke, coffee, tea, water.... Oh yeah and this weird feta cheese thing that the flies like!
After tea we always used to go to the bar. The guy at the bar was a bit odd. (We called him Mr. happy, because he never spoke or smiled) But it turns out that he is an extremely happy man!
At 8:30 the 'mini disc' starts, Richard, Carol, Inga and Edward have to do the hokey cokey, the birdy dance, the macarado or something and other 'crazy dances' every single night with the little kids! Then its bingo... usually something like 57 euros is the prize. Then they come round with a quiz about songs. Oh yeah, they all sang happy birthday to me!
I highly recommend this hotel, I loved it, you will love it.

I had a brilliant holiday at the Club Kalimera Mare. I returned the early hours of this morning and I was so upset to come back.
We arrived around 4 in the morning there and to start off, my bed (a sofa) hadn’t been made up for me and there weren’t any sheets for me. My mum had to complain the next day because we were just in 1 room with a bathroom. We were moved early next morning into a fabulous 2 bed roomed room overlooking the 2 main pools, the beach and the bar. Excellent! Also, the cleaners cleaned wonderfully every other day.
Ok, the awesome people. So there’s this thing called the Animation Team. They come round every day and ask you if you want to so a sport of something. Like Richard will come round and ask you if you wanna do ping-pong or beach volleyball or water polo and Edward will ask you about French balls or something or darts.
Carol offers to take care of the children for a bit with new girl Inga. And Khaled will do the Archery (with Richard doing the scores) Mitsi is at the poll bar and she is lovely! Everyone there speaks great English.
Food was quite repetitive, such as chips for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Nice though!

We found the Hotel very clean and the staff on the whole very friendly.
The food was very basic and often not very hot, although there is a microwave nearby if you chose to warm it up.
I was told we could use the sister Hotel but when we arrived we couldn't, so we had to stay in our Hotel only.
Not all was doom and gloom, my grandson had a wonderful time in the children’s pool and the kids club, the people that work with the children are very dedicated, every night there is a children’s disco which is in the main bar,(lasts about an hour ) and then there was bingo 2 Euros a ticket ( I won 90 euros) .
Although I wouldn't go back it was a late booked holiday and I meant some wonderful people (Guests) who have become friends.
Not recommended for the young adults I think they would find it to quite.

We read the reviews on this site before booking our holiday and for the price and location it seemed a good choice.
Ok, let me try to address a few of the main points I remember from other reviews, the beach, the food and the liveliness of the resort.
The beach – No it’s not sand, it is shingle and pebbles. It was only a short walk from our room, less than 5 minutes easily, and it’s wasn’t a wide beach meaning of course the sea was in very easy reach. If you want to spend your days lounging on a sandy beach then it’s not right for that. The beach was fine though, and the sea was warm with a really nice shelf so you could walk out quite far (so the small bright fish are swimming round you) without going much over your waist. All in all a reasonable, but not sandy, beach. Wish I’d have gone snorkelling now.
The food – Yes it is a buffet with a variety of dishes each night, but those dishes vary each night. There were a lot of pasta dishes, chips with a surprising shortage of salads sometimes. Drink was freely available (as always with all inclusive though only local beers and wines). The only real thing to add about the food was that we both ate too much every night so I guess that is a recommendation of sorts.
The Liveliness – This is a quiet resort. There were only one similar aged couple (late 20’s early 30’s), but this is just what we wanted, nice and relaxed. You can go over to the Kalimera Kos which is a little livelier with music by the pool and evening activities, very funny, although probably not intentionally, bingo and the dance competition. Was a bit like a school disco set-up but with less participation from the audience. You can’t go to the Kalimera Akti it seemed though, the name was covered up on some flyers etc, so if you want the option to go there definitely check this first.
Right, what else can I say? Thanks to whoever recommended renting the quad bikes and exploring for a day. We did this and had a brilliant day. Went up to Kos town and a beautiful small town in the mountains called Zia. One point to remember though is Monday, when we went off on the quad, is like Sunday in Greece with a lot of things closed. Make Monday a day of rest not exploring. And unless you want the hassle we had DON’T FORGET YOUR DRIVING LICENCE!
Our room was nice with it’s own little patio part which was really nice, and it was spacious with a kitchen sink and TV, however in the wardrobes there was some obvious damp so we ended up not really unpacking. Make sure you pack your mosquito spray as there were plenty of them and some of our window mesh was torn.
The closest town was about a 10 minute bus journey away, and there is a free bus from the hotel as well as a scheduled service, but the free bus is small and gets filled quickly. We didn’t sample the night life, although it looked a bit tacky, and the bars and restaurants are about what you’d expect. There are some nice little shops, and I certainly recommend a visit to the Olive wood shop, there was some really nice stuff and we could have bought a lot more than we did.
Overall a good value, relaxing holiday in the sun spending lots of time together. I’d recommend it but don’t have too high expectations and that was you won’t be let down.

Just returned from a week at the Kalimera Mare with my daughter. What can I say? A superb week away and a superb hotel. We booked very late and took a chance: it paid off!
The hotel was immaculately clean everywhere, including the rooms, bar, restaurant and poolside, even the toilets by the pool were spotless!
The food was not quite a "Greek" as we would have liked, but we are aware that they had to cater for everybody’s tastes, even though chips at breakfast was taking it a little far! However, we enjoyed all the meals we had, there were lots of fresh salads and a wide choice of main courses.
The pool area was very spacious and near empty due to the time of year that we visited. The beach was around 10ft away from the edge of the hotel, and was also empty, but we got the impression that it was quiet all year round. The sea was gorgeous, crystal clear if a slight bit cold!
The town was near enough for us to walk in around 40mins, but taxis cost very little and there is a bus from the hotel, free of charge. There appeared to be a lot to do in the town, but because we were so late in the season things were beginning to close. Overall a highly enjoyed and highly recommended holiday, we would love to return!

This is my second review. Just to let you all know this hotel is fantastic. Highly recommended.
Tip for you all, hire a car, the island is small and easy to drive round, try to book it on- line to be there at the airport when you land, saves waiting for bus/taxi.
The staff at this hotel are just the best, friendly and caring. Might not be everyone’s cup of tea but I'm 35 and the wife’s 28 and we love it.
Go to Paradise Beach if you can, beautiful, and only 15 mins drive from hotel. All staff are great but Yannis, Valentina, Mitsi and Bill are so nice and so helpful.
Superb!!!

It was a great holiday. The rooms were not plush but did the job. The shower and AC worked well --important to us. The food was a bit repetitive but tasty. The thing that impressed me the most was how friendly the staff were.
There are two Georges who work in the restaurant and always they were so, so nice. I really got the feeling all the staff were very friendly. I did not like the hornets that were buzzing about the pool a bit. If you are calm around bugs then you will be fine.
The hornets were never around in the evening!! The sister hotel Kalimera Mare was a nice place to visit. We had lunch over there 2 days (just for a change). The mare pool is quieter. Our rooms were cleaned well. Staff spoke English very well. The beach is lovely, not crowed and warm sea water, great fish. The Greek night is well worth going on as long as you don't get coach sick on the ride there and back. We had a horrible time with night flights. We would go again but get daytime flights.

The Kalimera Mare hotel is absolutely fantastic. I came to Kos not knowing what to expect but I loved it. The food was brilliant. The pool was cold but that was a good thing because it was so hot. The drinks were good. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly especially Nikkos and Mitsi. The evening entertainment was quite dull but Nikkos was more than happy to have a chat about football and stuff.
Mitsi runs the pool bar (which is also brilliant) and she is so kind and makes a joke out of everything. The room was good and the maids DID knock on the door. It was quite amusing watching all the big ants try and drag things around. People say bugs are a problem there but they aren’t, you don't even notice them after a day. I tried scuba diving and it was amazing apart from the fact i got stung twice by jelly fish and sunburned my face.
And to top off an absolutely brilliant holiday there were some pretty fit girls. What more can a lad want, all you can eat and drink and some good eye candy as well. I loved this holiday, I didn't want to come home. The really annoying bit is when I got home and tried to connect my camera to the computer all my pictures were deleted. But all in all an excellent holiday. I want to go again but my parents didn't like it. But I would recommend it to anyone.

As I am only 16 I didn’t think that the resort was loud enough for my liking. On the other hand it was very, very good in the daytime as there were other people for me to speak to and make friends with.
Do not go to Kos if you do not like bugs and reptiles because you see them everywhere you turn. Thought that the staff were very pleasant especially Maria and Mitsy. Food wasn’t my kind of thing but it must be nice because everyone else seemed to like it.
Thought that the fact you could use the Kalimera Kos and the Kalimera mare at different times to your leisure was very good. I caught the sun and was happy with the overall holiday I got. Would recommend that you stay at this hotel it is a very good and friendly.
More up your street if you are after a quiet holiday.

We have been to this hotel twice now and booked to go again May 2006. Fantastic relaxing holiday with pleasant staff and very well cleaned complex. Great rooms (suites) with amazing views. No hustle and bustle, quiet and set in a beautiful location. Great town nearby on free bus from hotel. Only 10 mins from airport. EXCELLANT!
The food is good and well covered and a microwave provided if you require your food piping hot as we do.
The sister hotel Akti is a complete contrast (like Butlins but worse) but they cant come to the Kalimera as we can go to theirs.
Costa’s in the bar is very friendly and keeps his bar immaculate. Mitsi in pool bar is a character but nice once you get to know her.
Beach is very close but shingles.
Highly recommended!!!

Hotel lovely and clean, with very helpful and friendly staff. The pools/pool area very nice and clean. Entertainment staff very good, tried their best with the few children that were willing to take part and did a good job. My son enjoyed every minute of the mini disco!!
The two major issues we had with this hotel was first and foremost, the food. Oh my god I like pasta and chips but every meal, ridiculous. My 5 year old son was having chips for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Snacks!! what snacks....a ham and cheese or cheese toastie...and you couldn't even have a snack or ice-cream between 2 & 4. Come on, red hot weather, kids want an ice-cream! Sorry I would not go back to this hotel if it was offered free and that is just based on the food situation. Don't get me wrong the pool was one of the best but you cannot go on holiday just because the pool is nice.
Second point was the location. We did want a quiet holiday but there is quiet away from the bars and quiet away from the rest of the world.
Sorry definitely not for me and I would not recommend it for anyone with children!
