We stayed at the oaisis papagayo in feb 2011 the apartments are a good size yes a bit dated but clean we had a problem with a socket being loose and the shwer head they were all fixed witin a couple of hours so no problem the bar staff are excelent very friendly the entertainment is what you expect out of season low key we did have one problem with the food it was a bit cold at times we told the rep and he looked into it and it did improve a bit the food was varied and enough choice for a buffet there is a microwave if you want to warm the food a bit more we were all inclusive and the only draw back is you have to get a beer in halfs cant have a pint for whatever reason but can get two halfs ? we would go back again its a bit of a walk into town but taxi back isnt a bad price try to get a apartment with a rooftop terrace much better

My wife and i have just returned from the hotel papagayo and we went all inclusive. on arrival (1pm) we had to wait 2 hours for our accomodation because it hadn't been cleaned. the apartment was avaerage but i wouldn't rate it as more than 3*. The complex had exellent facilites, an enormous pool with fountain set in the middle, pool bar was open most of the day with food such as burgers, hot dogs and fries, free to all inclusive guests. The food in the restaurant was so bad that we ate out for most of holiday.
To sum it up we would go back to the island and the Papagayo, self catering, but we have had better accomodation on other holidays
- Advice: exellent resort and complex but the food and entertainment was very poor.

went here in june, first impressions of hotel was very nice. actual rooms were very spacious, but had mould all over the bathroom ceiling and everytime the upstairs apt had a bath, water leaked through our ceiling. you had to pay 30 euros a week just to watch their tv, which was suppose to have 6 english channels, but you could only ever get 2 or 3, and that was when it actually worked, which wasnt to often!
poolside and garden areas were very clean and always being looked after, and one good thing was you could always get a sunbed.
FOOD! where do i start? i can honestly say that this is defiently the WORST hotel food ive ever had. my kids didnt eat hardly anything, and i didnt blame them. they only ever had 1 waiter for the whole restaurant, who actualy worked very hard, there was never no knifes or forks out, and you had to wait every day for a glass just to get a drink. it seemed to take about 15 mins every night just to find someone to ask for some cutlury and a glass to get a drink. there was only 1 chef serving you youre food, who doubled up as a washer up round the back as well, yes i am serious. so you can imagine how stressful it was when youre constantly hanging around just to get something to eat.
when i read other peoples reports saying that theres nothing wrong with the restaurant, i can only say, they really need to get out a bit more, because i and most of the other guests i was with thought the whole set up was just a joke. we spent all our spending money on eating out in the resort, which was annoying really because weve still had to pay for that crap in the hotel!
entertainment wasnt much better, everything centered around this dingy indoor overgrown sort of beachut place.
there was this fellow called BAZ, yes baz, i know, whos real name was probably martin or something, who ran the show, and every night he just sang his own favourite songs BADLY! most people from our hotel went into the resort every night, which was very nice and family freindly.
i would never go back to this hotel in a million years, and as for 4 stars, yeh right!
i could go on, but i think ive said enough about this place, if you do still decide to go, go self catering, because the actual hotel and pool is fairly nice.

Just back from this hotel yesterday. My husband and I and our 4 young children (all under 10) had a great and much welcomed holiday. The hotel is definately not 4*, perhaps more like 3*. I read loads of reviews before going and did not know what to expect. The apartments were quite clean and very, very spacious (even for a family of 6). We had a ground floor apartment with no a/c. The rooms were very warm at night but we did manage to sleep well. We did see 3 cockroaches throughout our week there, but it was fine - certainly not infested !! All in all the hotel is a little bit tired looking - there are broken tiles round the pool and the bathroom in our apartment could do with updating. The pools were clean and a lovely temperature. There were two very shallow pools for the children which they enjoyed all day long. Food was a little repetative and the vegetables awful !!! Salads were great and breakfast was also good. Snack bar at pool got a bit boring too, but fine for one week. Packed lunches were terrible - if we were going out for the day we made extra at breakfast time. Thomsons reps worked very, very hard and kept the kids entertained nearly the whole day - they loved it, and so did we, as we could relax. Thanks to Bubbly Bex, Boogie Baz and the team. Corralejo is nice. The walk from the hotel is ok - you need to work off all that food somehow !! All inclusive should have included ice creams for the kids - not really all inclusive. Also - they cut our bands off at midday on the last day, despite paying for 7 full days. Very cheaky !! Would not rush back, but definately enjoyed our holiday.

We came here on a 7 night holiday, 2 adults and 2 children, first time I had booked with Thomson. When we arrived we went to our room and the heat hit us, they were having a heatwave so the rooms which didnt have air con were terribly hot. I remembered reading before I booked that there was no air-con but the rooms had a fan, unfortunately our didnt so we went straight back to reception to get one. The reception staff were so helpfull, bent over backwards to help all they could. Within 10 mins a maid had brought a fan over, we also paid to hire another one for the children.
We got up early the next morning, went for breakfast then grabbed our towels and got to the poolside at 9am. Mistake! You;re not allowed in until 10am!!! never heard of anything so stupid before! it was like a ghost twon until anout 10am when the pools opened then you started seeing the odd person about. very weird! peacefull though.
My 2 kids went to the kids clubs and loved it. The evening entertainment was also great for the kids, and they loved Thomson the Dog.
As this hotel wasnt inclsive to Thomson customers there were quite a few French people about, RUDE is one word to describe them.
One thing that let this holiday down was the food. When you are All Inc. in my opinion you;re tummy should never rumble, mine did! Food was repetative and poorly cooked. If you like pizza, chips, chicken nuggets and onion rings you'll be fine! Myself and my 2 children relaly struggled to find anything decent to eat at all 3 mealtimes, husband was fine as he eats anything anyway.
I would reccomend this place to stay but only on Self Catering as there are plenty of restaurants 10 mins walk away.

I personally think that this was no way in a month of sundays a 4* hotel.
The food was very reptitive and basic.
We went as a famil of 4, 2 adults a 13 year old and 8 month old, the hotel entertainment was fine but did not cater for all.
For what this holiday cost me to fo A/I I paid lest than half for 2 adults to egypt in may the year before.
I will not be going back to the island and just talked my fiends out ov going with kids because there is nothingk for them!!!

Hello all , i have been on many holidays both all inclusive (AC) and (SC) and the review is very honest based on my time at the oasis papagayo.
this time i went SC
The hotel,,
The hotel is in my opinion a 3*. the rooms were fairly clean but did not conpair to a 4* all inclusive i have stayed in previously. the main bummer for me was the heat in the room. i booked this holiday quite hasty and just asumed that the room would have air con... it diddnt !!. once you get over this shock you get used to the heat by leaving your window open ( DONT FORGET YOUR BUG SPRAY!!) you could however get a fan from reception but you have to pay for this ( who said air was free ) . The beds were not that nice to sleep on as you got the odd spring in your back but this does not mean all the beds are like this. the master bedroom is x2 single beds pushed together so if your planing on having a cuddle please bare in mind you may actually fall on the floor inbetween the beds. our friends room was infested with ants but again this does not mean to say that all of the rooms were like this.
the bar in the hotel and the all inclusive people...
i was SC when i stayed here as my last few holidays have been of a AC nature. the times that i stayed at the club house of an evening there was one large que with only 1 or 2 members of bar staff. once you have got to the front you can only get half pint glasses if you are AC. how ever you can order x4 half pint glases at a time ???. if you are SC you can buy a pint for 3 euros. if you want a soft drink and you are SC a small party sized cup will cost you 2 euros but a large pint of soft drink will cost you 3 euros. once you have established that a massive bottle of soft drink from the supper market next door costs only 2.50 euro your night gets alot cheaper.
the entertainment.
these guys were fantastic people and the kids loved them. they were always doing somthign round the pool and in the evening. we had a good laugh in the club house with them.
the pool...
there are 2 salt water pools and a non salt water pool that i found they were very nice.
the location..
its a 15-20 min walk from the hotel to the main strip of bars and shops followed by the amazing harbour. a really nice meal for 2 will cost about 40 euros with a few drinks down the harbour. it is only 3-4 euros for a cab to the harbour. the beach is very nice there is a couple you can go for but i found the best one near the x2 rui hotels. ask a cab driver and it will cost you 5 euros.
all in all.
the holiday location and hotel entertainment/pool made up for the not so inviting room. if i was to go back i would go half board and go for the odd meal out. i think if you get involved with the other people in the day with the reps you have a nicer time in the evening.
- Advice: the hotel was good apart from the room.

me and my mum went to this resort on the 31st of July for 2 weeks.it was the best holiday i have ever been on ignore all the bad reviews.when you get off the plane you have a passport check, wait for your luggage and see a rep who tells you what bus to get on its all really straight forward. when you get on the bus they give you as little talk about when the meeting is n what to expect from your holiday.when you get to the oasis papagayo you have to give ure passport in and get your keys 4 apartment.yes it is hard to find but its a laugh the grounds are beautiful and well kept ad weather was LOVELY so having a walk to find your apartment is fun.the apartment was lovely. its spacious, clean and just what you need.the pools are gr8 fun and entertainment was fantastic. it suits all ages im 14 and throughout the 2 weeks wasnt once bored. when we went mum got a safe because a few reviews say about getting things nicked. food wise i recommend retro bar, wakiki beach bar its lovely in the evening because its on the beach also the on site restaurant is quite nice not the best but also penny lane its run by liverpool people lovely food and people.i wouldn't recommend tiffany's i didnt think it was very good service slow and food disgusting.the beach is lovely the sea is lovely and clean when you are swimming you can see everything.when me and mum went we went to baku animal experience it was soo good. they give you a program of whats happening.i got to have a pic with a parrot, have a pic with snakes on me and got to swim, kis, hug and feed a sea-lion it was mint. all the pics taken on the day are put in a disk so u can take it home. WE ARE BOOKED TO GO AGAIN ON JUNE 14TH FOR 2 WEEKS WOOOP :D hope u have a good time.

Staff are rude assistant manager rude, hung up on me when i finnally complained to her. Food terrible, whole family had food poisening. Loads of cockroaches in room. Shard of glass from glass panel falling out of door went through partners shoulder. hotel staff had the cheek to try and charge us for the glass. Could have been my children. Reps excellent with kids, but don't expect much when complaining. loose tiles all over the hotel. sheets on beds changed twice whole holiday. No air conditioning. 4euro's a day for tv; hard core porn came on the tv when turned it on, had to rush children out the room.(CHILDRENS HOTEL)not really. Found dried puke on one of the meant to be clean bed sheets. Ants nest in bathroom. VERY EXPENSIVE island, but not worth the money, could have gone to disney world with what we spent. They tell you there's a crech for the undee 3s there is nothing if your child is under 3, your stuffed. Hotel and surroundings looked unfinished parts even looked abandonned. 4* more like a 1*. Strip bar/brothel across the road. Enjoyed water park across the way. Town is a good 40minute walk away, not what they state in brochure, no good for young children, we did not have one good meal on island. 80euro for burger an chips times 4, including 4 drinks at one place, everywhere just as expensive. If your looking for a bit of culture or a proper holiday, not the place for you.Lots more wrong, but i think i'v said enough

me and my 14 year old daughter went on holiday july 31st for 2weeks
it was lovely and warm and we only had 1 dull day whilst we stayed there.lots of people are complaining about having things stolen but it is easily prevented by buying a safe you do get ure deposit back and is worth the money if it keeps your things safe.the pools were lovely because there is so many they dont get overcrowded and sometimes u can be in the pool on ure own bliss!the entertainment at night is soo funny and enjoyable and the staff are very friendly the staff gave us a half price drink cos it was r last day :)the shop next door is a bit pricey but when u walk down to the main part and the beach it is good to buy a drink.
the walk down to the main are is lovely you go past the fair, baku water park and animal sanctuary then ure there basically. the beach is massive and the water is soo clear and cold just what u need :D
baku animal sanctuary was amazing we got to swim with play with and feed a sea-lion called max whilst they took free pics that u could collect on a cd it was a gr8t experience it did cost £30pp but was well worth it.
i would recommend retro bar, wakikki (it is on the beech lovely view),penny lane (owned by friendly liverpool people) and pirates bay.
we personally didn't like tiffany's the service was crap and food wasnt very nice.
we found netto the best cheap shop with very nice food
i recommend if u r planning on swimming u take goggles because of the pools being salt water and the ones they sell there are not very good and take ure own towels
we really enjoyed this holiday and r booked to go back in july we cannot wait i hope it been helpful xx

I have just returned from a week at the oasis papagayo with my girlfreind and had a fantastic time although it was quite when we went in march it was a perfect holiday for families with young children, as there is activities for the kids daily a choice of 5 pools and a jacuzzi also a bowling alley and an american dinner.Although we do not have children it was nice to see the children enjoyin there selves. The hotel has a coice of two restraunts a themed night buffet where they do diffrent foods each night e.g indian, mexican and italian a la carte is available.and also the main buffet restraunt where breakfast is served, unfortunatly
we visited the oasis papagayo on a all inclusive holiday which was our first time all inclusive, and were not impressed with the food for example at breakfast the sausages were tinned but there were a wide range of other choices for those who like continental or ceral. The food at night was cold and the combinations did not go we found our selves eating off the kids section where they do pizza, chips, fish fingers be aware of the chicken nuggets as they are pink inside.Overall the hotel is very very clean the reception area is open 24 hours and the staff speak very good english and are helpful the town is just a nice 10 15 mins walk away into correlejo after visiting the oasis papagayo we would defintly go back as we had a fantastic time i hope the review helps.

Don't even know why this place is still in existance..it's got to be one of the worst places to stay.
First room allocated on arrival had cockroaches inside. Second room allocated had no running hot water (fixed after 2 days). Then we got robbed...of everything (some clothes took as well).Who ever did it even double locked the door with hotel keys on their way out!! They had the decency however to put my passports and bracelet back in the robbed room after i moved out, again remebering to double lock the room door, but kept our holiday money, phone and clothes! Loose and cracked tiles all around pool area. A large area of complex without lighting and in some places, the light poles were hanging out of the ground. Beware of the rusty old furniture inside your rooms,as the rust stains just do not come out of your clothes. Don't bother complaing to either Hotel or First Choice, coz they are really not interested. You might get told the same thing as us...crime happens, thats what you have travel insurance for !!!!! Food disgusting, childrens' entertainment non existant. Please just don't bother with this place.I just wish i had personally read reviews dating back to as long as a year ago as it seems this place has been experiencing the same problems for a long time and obviously nothing is getting rectified.
