" Fantastic place! We have just... "

Fantastic place! We have just returned from our third visit to Oasis Papagayo and have already booked for next year. The first two years we have stayed in a 2 bed standard room via Thomsons, but last year we noticed some bigger detached villas with private pools over the back of the complex behind the two smaller chlorine pools. So after a bit of internet searching, managed to book ourselves one for last week. It was fantastic! 3 massive bedrooms, huge kitchen with washer/dryer, microwave, dishwasher, etc, 2 fully equipped bathrooms, free sat TV, heated outdoor pool, roof terrace, etc.

We had the maid in everyday, bed linen was changed twice during the week and the towels changed every single day. There are actually 5 pools and a jacuzzi here. There is the main pool which is saltwater and has a shallow childrens pool next to it which is also saltwater. Joined to this, down a slight slope, is quite a deep saltwater pool which is perfect and well thought about for those that don't want to be bothered by the younger children. The other pools are towards the back of the complex. They are smaller but chlorine water so we found them much better for our needs. There is also a jacuzzi hidden behind some trees here and a childrens play area.

We did not find this part of the complex on our first visit here as it is quite well hidden if your apartment is nearer the entrance! The main entertainment takes place around the saltwater pools so that's where you need to be if that's what you are after! If you want to relax without all that then the chlorine water pools are the place to be. There are PLENTY of sunbeds!

The kids clubs are a great bonus, they even have evening clubs some nights. The mini disco is so bad, its great! My 1 year old loved it! It is a nice walk to the town, takes around 20mins. We tended to get taxis back but were never more than 2euro 20 a night. Lots of lovely cheap places to eat. The meals were never more than 60euros for 6 of us (3 adults, 3 kids) and that included beer and wine.

The water park is a good day out but I think it is quite expensive, 116euros for a family of 5. The market (just before the water park) is held on a Monday and Friday and worth a visit. The supermarket on site isn't the cheapest but we were only buying basics as we ate out every night so didn't worry too much about it. Netto in town is slightly cheaper but not worth the bother for us.

The weather was fantastic last week, in the 30s. We went as a group of 14, aged from 40 to 1 and we all had a fantastic time. I would recommend this complex to everyone!

" Had a brilliant holiday with the... "

Had a brilliant holiday with the family, it was our second time there but we found plenty to do. Really chilled out but 1 week was enough. There is quite a walk from the hotel into Correlejo itself but a taxi is only a couple of quid.

Good restaurants are Di Napoli for Italian and Waikiki for something different. There are some nice little bars on the harbour, don't eat the bread in the restaurants that they give you (so you think it's free) because they will charge you (unless you're lucky).

Hotel was clean and reps were brilliant when we had to move rooms. Poolside entertainment was brilliant. LJ Cool and Kim Possible had us in hysterics and the variety performance by all of the reps was good fun, 'Pears' and adult 'flags' was entertainment at its best :D

Restaurant 'Don Carelone's' was a bit pricey but service was good.

If you are looking for something to do definitely book a trip on the Catalanza boat from the harbour, a well good day out and gorgeous views of Los Lobos and crew were fab.

Shops were alright, if you have a good look round you'll find some nice little quirky ones and some good clothes shops.

Brilliant holiday but don't know if we'd do it again.

" Just returned home after a 2 week... "

Just returned home after a 2 week holiday within the oasis papagayo apartments.

Had a fantastic time, apartments very modern and plenty of room, no complaints with any of the hotel service, rooms/towels regular changed.

We mainly stayed during the day within the complex as there was so much going on for the children , plenty of sun beds (free) and the weather throughout was scorching-followed by the cool breeze. There are five pools- all great- lovely and clean.

The apartments are situated at a quiet end of Corralejo with small fair across the road, supermarket, pizza, bowling, waterpark and bapu market which is on every Friday & Monday-all well worth a visit- the water park is fantastic!

The main centre is a 15 min stroll away or taxis are around 2-3 Euros- plenty of them. Lots of places to eat- the Chinese / slow boat was amazing. The beaches are beautiful very clean.

Great entertainers LJj Cool/Kim Possible, everyone friendly the children loved the kids club-missing Charis from Paris, great nights of entertainment from all reps and acts alike!

Overall a great holiday, loads to see and do in this beautiful island-- would definitely return!

" Stayed at Oasis Papagayo Village in... "

Stayed at Oasis Papagayo Village in Feb.

When we arrived given our room, went to the room to find rubbish still in room, bed still the same as what the last people left it, same sheets, not made, grime in the bathroom. So my husband went back to reception told them what the room was like we were given four rooms before we found one that had been cleaned.

That week we saw the maid once, ask about clean towels she said something in Spanish and turned and walked away.

It was a pity the food was good the staff were friendly I think our last minute booking didn’t help us.

Would I stay there again I think so, because I believe to give them a second chance and we know what Spanish hotels are like because my husband is a driver courier for coaches and take people to Costa Brava.

" After a tedious coach transfer, which... "

After a tedious coach transfer, which seemed to take forever (we'll book independently next time!), we arrived at the very well-presented Oasis Papagayo. Check in procedure was quick and our first floor, one-bedroom apartment was clean and spacious.

One minor criticism was that no bath towels had been left for us, only hand towels, and it was the following afternoon before we obtained the bath towels, but I'm sure this was a one-off.

Being a couple without children, we were a bit daunted about the fact that the complex has a kids' club. However, this was not disruptive at all. The complex has three pools, one of which doesn't have a kids' section hence there were few children around this pool. From what we saw, it looked an ideal place to stay for families. The pool/poolside bar areas are very nice and well maintained, with pretty gardens and lots of palm trees.

The only thing we didn't like about this place is that it's quite a way out of Corralejo town, around half an hour's walk. This was fine for a stroll in the sunshine during the day, but in the evening (especially when wearing heels!) not so great and we opted for taxis, the average one-way fare being about 3 Euros, give or take a little.

Having been to Corralejo last year, we were delighted to find our favourite bar still there and booming - Tattoos n Booze rock bar. Owner Sascha Albertz is very clued up on his heavy metal and was still as generous as ever with his Jaegermeister! We also had some great nights out in live acoustic music bars, the Rock Island Bar and Imagine, the latter featuring the funny and talented Eric Sijpestijn, who can play just about every instrument under the sun and gets crazier with each shot of Jaegermeister he knocks back. There are numerous excellent restaurants, notably El Sombrero, Poco Loco, Restaurant Eve and the Oasis Papagayo own superb Italian restaurant, Don Corleone.

The Thomson reps were at the complex every day and, whilst we didn't need to speak to them much, they came across as friendly and approachable. They certainly appeared to be very good with children.

Overall we had a very nice week at the Oasis Papagayo and would come here again, although we would prefer the Oasis Royal where we stayed last year, which is closer to Corralejo centre. But we can't complain considering we booked it only a week in advance.

I'm sure we'll keep returning to Fuerte in the future, as it's a lovely island.

" Just arrived back from a great week... "

Just arrived back from a great week at the Papagayo. Apts very clean, maids came in every day, towels changed four times, beds twice, more than I expected.

Found the reception staff very polite and helpful. Our toaster and sofa bed were both broken on arrival but after a word with reception they were replaced by new ones within the hour.

Pool area good clean and plenty of sunbeds. Main pools are salt water but soon got used to it and it certainly didn’t bother my children.

Papagayo is a good walk into town so either take some comfy shoes or take a taxi around 2 euro each way.

Spoilt for choice when eating out special mention to Slowboat 1 and 2, Gibson’s and Poco loco.

Go to Angels near the town beach for a great breakfast. Visited Baku Water Park 44 euro to go in 1 adult 2 children, book tickets with Thomson and get free locker and queue jump spent all day there though did take a picnic to cut costs.

All in all enjoyed our holiday very much though I wish the Papagayo was a bit closer to town.

" Me and my boyfriend had a wicked 2... "

Me and my boyfriend had a wicked 2 weeks holiday here! We were in room 109b. A bit of a mission to walk round the back but we found a shortcut so in the end it was ok!

Hotel was lovely. We had a 1 bedroom apartment. It was nice and clean. Only bad thing was that the tea towel we had in the room stank!! It wasn’t changed for the whole 2 weeks we were there! Ew.

The apartment itself was massive! The bedroom was nice and the beds were comfy. The bathroom was big. The shower was really good and powerful! The TV we had to pay for. Not really worth coz most of it is Spanish or German!

The entertainers LJ & Kim were great! LJ is a nutter! Always on the go all day & all night!

We didn’t really eat in the hotel. Only the Italian on site. It’s nice but a bit expensive! & You get harassed by the owner to look at his drawings!!

The town itself was lovely! We spent most of our time in the rock cafe! Really nice meals & cheap too! The house band were excellent too! They make really good cocktails!

We went to Wikiki (I think that’s how it’s spelt!) beach. It was nice. But the sun loungers are all together. The sea was nice & warm though!

I was sad to leave. I am defiantly going back next year!

" Just got back from a great weeks... "

Just got back from a great weeks holiday, on our first visit to the Island.
Weather was fantastic with a cooling breeze all the time which was excellent as our kids are 4 and 6, and not used to high temperatures all the time.

The Hotel room was clean and large (we had 1 bedroom) with a shower over the bath which was useful for the kids.

Food was quite good, although breakfast was better than evening meal, but we did get a bit bored towards the end of the week.

Italian restaurant on the complex was good but not cheap, other restaurants nearby but did not really use them.

Swimming pools were excellent and we liked the salt pools, did not seem over crowded although the hotel was busy.

Entertainment for the children was excellent and the Reps were very friendly and enthusiastic, not just in the evening but for kids club in the day, and also around the pools all day there was some activity or another taking place for those that wanted to take part.

Beach and town is about a 20 minute walk but we just took a taxi ( under 3 euros ).
Overall we found this a very good place to take our holiday and we would go back.

" Hi guys, just come back from Oasis... "

Hi guys, just come back from Oasis Pap. The complex is excellent for families and couples. The pools and grounds are excellent. Very clean and tidy. There are about 5 pools 3 main pools and 2 kids pools just over the other side.

Most the people were brits and it wasn`t too busy when we went at the end of June. We went with Thomson the reps were excellent the entertained all through the day and night.

The only thing I could put against this complex were the rooms. The one we had was a bit grubby. Cob webs in corners and sofa bed had stains. It may only have been ours that was like this we only went self catering. It was basic no air con (pay to hire a fan 20 Euros p/w).TV you also have to pay for only 3 English channels sport news and films.

About 6 Euros a day for that. It’s a 10 min walk down the main road to the centre.

There are a few little English pubs cafe at the end of the complex good food not badly priced. Super market joined next door but is pricey so is Iceland at the bottom, go to Netto in Corralejo.

Corralejo has great places to eat along the front small sea food restaurants. For all you Neil diamond fans go to cast aways great entertainment run by a friendly English couple.

Hong Kong do a good Chinese buffet 7 Euros each not bad. To get back jump in a taxi 3 Euros a go taxis drivers are good no messing about.

On the whole it’s not a bad place to go oasis pap looked liked the best hotel there don’t let the rooms put you off going...

" What a fantastic place, 6 adults and... "

What a fantastic place, 6 adults and 5 kids all had a fab holiday, and as soon as we got home we were straight on the internet pricing it up to go back later this year!

We had a 2 bed roomed apartment and were really impressed. Very spacious, both bedrooms were double sized with loads of storage space (not a lot of coat hangers though).

Rooms were cleaned regularly and no problems with towel or linen changes. Quite a few bugs inside (which felt the bottom of a flip-flop!), and our patio was absolutely covered with ants.

The complex is large, and very well maintained. Our apartments were located between the two pool areas which was quite handy. The 2 main pools and kids pool (salt water ones) are where all the entertainment happens during the day, so bag yourself some loungers round that area if you want to be involved.

The Thomson reps are absolutely fab and keep adults and kids entertained day and night. Some of the evening entertainment is a bit cheesy but hey, if it keeps the kids entertained its priceless!

Supermarket on the complex is dear, but there are a couple of Netto's down the main road towards town which are a lot cheaper. The walk down to town isn't too bad, prob about 20 mins to the main area, but a taxi only costs about 2 Euro's.

Best place to eat in town was the all-you-can-eat Chinese Buffet - can't remember the name of it but it is just past the Slowboat. On the complex we loved the Pizzeria, and just outside of the complex was Tiffany's or the other English place round the corner next to the Racing Post - a lot friendlier and very generous with the portions!

The weather was unbelievable as they had a heat wave while we there so it was 40 for the first few days. The last couple of days though showed the true weather for this time of year, the cloud came rolling over and the wind picked up which made it a bit chilly in and out of the water, and also in the evening.

The Baku waterpark is directly across the road from the complex and well worth a visit -have a look at it on Google Earth!

Everything was brilliant - apart from the 4 hour delay and a very bumpy flight coming home!

" The best holiday I have ever had.... "

The best holiday I have ever had.

It looks like we caught the best weather so far as other people have said it was cloudy for most of the day, but it was in the 90's from the 9'th of May to the 14'th.

The hotel was amazing with plenty to do for kids and adults the complex has 3 swimming pools and lots more. I totally recommend this holiday.

" First time staying at the Oasis... "

First time staying at the Oasis Papagayo but not the first time on the Island.

Travelled with my Partner & 10yr old daughter. We arrived at night to be given a map of the complex our room key and Adios.

10 hours later after lots of wondering around we finally escaped the magical maze and found our room. Which was clean and right opposite the smaller pool with kiddie splash pool. Oh and Jacuzzi.

We later discovered that the two larger pools are filled with salt water which was not at all nice.

There was plenty to do for my daughter who attended the kids club and made friends rather quickly.

We had two days of not so good weather but managed to get nice tans.

We hired bikes from reception and went into the town of Corralejo, where the supermarkets are a lot cheaper if staying self-catering like us, although we did take a few bits from home like Cereals/Tuna & beans... which we snacked on for lunch then ate out in town most evenings.

A visit to the sand dunes are a must. We had the best fun stripping down and running round naked as we were the only ones there for miles...

The water park is opposite the complex and was a great day out for us all, we took our own lunch in and drinks as you are given a locker. For us 3 it worked out about £30.

We also hired a car from reception as we wanted to venture out a little bit further which we got a deal -3days for price of two...

And the reps were top notch, friendly and very helpful not one single fault.

Just the in house entertainment was standard Cheese! But my daughter and her new found friends loved it and wanted to go to the club bar every night LOL.

Fuerteventura is a lovely island, a little windy at times but hey not as over populated with tourists like the other islands, it still has its own identity which I like...

No fighting over sun beds or having to listen to badly behaved drunkards.

I’ll go back any day it was worth my £189pp...

" Whist we found generally the place... "

Whist we found generally the place was nice and the weather was good, we were a little disappointed.

On arrival we had to wait half an hour for our room to be cleaned and were told that the ripped sofa cover would be changed – was not. Once inside the room, the wall in the bedroom was furry with mould.

The Thompson rep was also terrible. We had booked two trips and the first of which was double booked. On speaking with the rep, we, and another couple, were told that she had faxed the slip to the operator at 11am the previous day (since we had all booked after this time we were a little perplexed).

It then transpired that the slip was faxed at 7pm and she confirmed that she had received a faxed sip back confirming receipt. This was not found and shown to us.

To top it all off, as I had paid by card, I would have to be reimbursed by card, and was told this may take over a week to clear. This meant that our carefully budgeted holiday left us with a day that could no longer do anything with as we were £60.00 out of pocket. Even the offer of a complimentary drink may have calmed me a little, but no!

I feel that I am now ranting.

The hotel itself was nice, the pool was far too cold to ever enter and the pool tables were missing balls.

We did however love the trip to the zoo with camel rides and though the island itself very accommodating.

Ps. Everything of interests such as the water park closes in November – be warned.

" Just back after spending a week at... "

Just back after spending a week at the Oasis Papagayo Village with my hubby and 16 month old daughter.

Sadly, the weather was not the best. It was lunchtime most days before the sun came out but the big drawback was the 'breeze' which was more like gale force winds at times. There was no escaping it and coming out of the pools you really felt it.

We went self catering so cannot comment on food in the complex. Every night we walked the 15-20 min walk into the town for dinner. It was a pleasant walk but be prepared to be blown about a bit lol.

We did find it expensive to eat out so make sure you take plenty of spending money. Would recommend Tiffany's around the corner. Pleasant staff and decent food, especially breakfast and burgers. They were also very good with our daughter and would make most things we wanted for her and not overpriced.

The ice cream parlour next to the complex is nice and make a decent coffee (too cold for ice cream when we were there). Would recommend La Tasca steakhouse in the town and the Chinese buffets.

We did try Slowboat 2 as recommended by some people but it lived up to its name - slow. We waited over an hour and ended up asking to take it away.

One place to visit on the main road is a lovely ice cream/smoothie/coffee place called Secreto (big orange sign). A must for coffee and ice cream lovers.

Our room was spacious enough, however, it was not the cleanest and we had ants in the kitchen area. Our sofa bed appeared to be broken as every time you sat on it the bottom part would come away. The maids are obviously overworked and understaffed.

During the week we had two towel changes and the floor was swept once. Ended up putting nappies in bins in the communal areas due to infrequency of bin emptying. These bins are emptied every morning.

Sadly, we did not use the pool areas much due to the weather but there appeared to be a good number of sun loungers. We kept to the bottom pools with the splash pool for toddlers which was very good. One of the two play areas for children is there and our daughter loved it.

One of the reasons we chose this complex was for the children's facilities. We knew she was too young for the kiddies clubs but thought the soft play area would be good. We took her once and found it to be quite dirty. There was children there who were obviously too old and the reps were sitting chatting. Not impressed at all!

Overall, we had a decent break. If the weather was better I am sure it would have helped, however, we will not be back to Fuerteventura.

Having been to the other islands in the Canaries, this was our least favourite and will stick to Lanzarote in future.

" Went there with my parents, husband... "

Went there with my parents, husband and two children and pregnant with my third.

We had two one bedroom apartments next to each other which were lovely, spacious and greatly positioned in front of the pool.

The entertainment was great and the reps were friendly and helpful. It was a bit of a walk into the centre but pleasant enough.

The pools were well kept and cleaned on a very regular basis.

On a night the kids reps were very entertaining with the little disco, (which I even danced too!!) and plenty of quizzes for both the adults and the children to join in.

Loved it and would visit again!
