Me & my bf went to Puerto Rico in July for a week for holiday. We were allocated to Puerto Rico upon our arrival at the airport.
Both me & my bf loved our stay there very much.
Good points:
1. The place was clean.
2. The maid service was good
3. The maid washed all our pots & pans (we didn’t know they had this service until our second day stay there)
4. The receptionist was very helpful & friendly
5. You can get some entrance tickets (eg. Palmitos Park) from the reception
6. Handles pipe burst swiftly
7. No cockroaches
8. Songs on radio were good but up to a certain time, it will be switched off automatically.
9. Room was in good size.
10. Don’t have to rent kettle & toaster like some other hotel/apartment.
11. Internet facility (only one computer but people hardly use it)
Bad points:
1. The loud & irritating noise coming from the clubs, pubs & etc at the town centre.
2. No fan in the room (very warm)
3. To watch TV, you need to pay!
Overall, we loved it & would come back for more!

My partner and I chose this location just for 1 week, as we have 2 weeks booked for Mexico later in the year. All we wanted was a lot of sun and a bit of relaxation. The sun we got which was gorgeous. But the relaxation, not much. Far too many stairs and steps in this place.
The hotel is situated facing the Shopping Centre, which plays blasting music til around 4am, every night. It didn’t bother us really, but to some older couples or families staying there, I can imagine it all getting a bit much.
But if ya in the party mood, its ideal, as your literally 5 mins of steps away..Puerto Feliz is a lovely hotel, very clean. And lovely, lovely people there. We had a fab time there, hope you do too.

After reading previous reviews we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Puerto Feliz.
It was clean and the apartments although perhaps in need of a refurb were pleasant. The maid service was excellent, clean towels daily- she even washed any pots we had left next to the sink.
Yes it is fairly noisy but so must just about every block of apartments /hotels in the surrounding area but none of us (9 in total) were kept awake or woken by the noise.
187 steps down to the main resort area so not suitable for anyone too unfit- and taxis back up were approx 2 euros which is better than walking.
Excellent weather. Apartments good value for the money.

My boyfriend and I wanted to have a week’s holiday in November somewhere in Europe that would still be hot and sunny. We chose the resort of Puerto Rico in Gran Canaria and we paid £321 per person. We chose the Puerto Feliz Aparthotel on a self catering basis because of it’s description in the Airtours Wintersun brochure (Nov 2004-April 2005 Third Edition); the description reads and I quote ...'set in a central but peaceful area of Puerto Rico, is just one of the reasons that the Puerto Feliz is such a popular choice with our customers, ideal for people of all ages...'
We arrived at the resort late afternoon, unpacked and went out to have a look around the resort. When we returned at around 11pm we could not believe the noise level coming from the "Shopping Centre" which lays in the valley below these apartments; this was a mixture of bars, restaurants, nightclubs and shops.
We closed our patio doors and bedroom window but the noise was still so unbelievably loud that the windows were actually vibrating and the noise level was barely reduced, in fact you would have thought we had a stereo playing in our apartment.
We could hear every word of the music being pumped out and the DJ jeering the crowd on, and the shouting and screaming from the crowd in the clubs.
This went on until 4am, every morning.
The next day we went to our welcome meeting and complained to our rep Duane Ellis, who, although was understanding and agreed that the noise levels could be really bad if we wanted to move accommodation we would have to pay. Another couple were in the middle of complaining to the rep with the exactly the same complaint we met up with them on the last day of the holiday and they had been told that there wasn’t any accommodation to move them to but they would have to pay an extra cost if there would have been. Why the hell should we have to pay to move accommodation?
I suffer from asthma and when I booked the holiday I requested a high floor specifically so that I would have decent air circulation as sometimes lower floors can be very stuffy, as we had to keep the windows and patio door shut every night when we returned to our apartment to keep out the noise I constantly had asthma.
We don’t feel like we had a holiday, we both returned home feeling exhausted from total sleep deprivation for a week.
I filled in an Airtours customer complaint form and wrote a letter of complaint, this weekend I will take it to the travel agent who sold me the holiday for them to send off to Airtours head office (I was told that Airtours have to respond to the travel agent within 14 days where as if I sent the complaint to Airtours head office myself I wasn’t guaranteed a response).
I feel that Airtours gave us as customers a false and untrue description of accommodation at the Puerto Feliz - there is no way that unless you were stone deaf you could possibly describe the Puerto Feliz as accommodation set in a peaceful location - it was a living hell for a week and I can not recommend strongly enough that you give it a wide berth unless you are stone deaf. We have swapped details with the other couple and together we will fight this all the way to get suitable compensation.

My boyfriend and I visited here for our first holiday together. We wanted somewhere hot and sunny and had good night life but somewhere we could relax as well. We definitely got all 4 of our requests.
We were very happy with our stay at Puerto Feliz, the rooms were clean, large and spacious and had a good sized balcony area. Our rooms were cleaned every second day and the friendly maids would also clean any dirty dishes that were in our sink. One downside is that the rooms are very warm but you can hire a fan from reception for 9 euros which did help a little.
These apartments also have a supermarket situated at the side and sell all your everyday essentials.
The pool area was usually quite busy but most days we managed to get sun loungers. There’s also a pool bar with friendly staff which sells ok food but we found it to be a little pricey.
I loved where these apartments were situated, we were walking distance to the beach and harbour and we only had a 5 min walk down about a 150 steps and we were rite in the middle of everything, the only down side was walking back up them but there is a taxi rank situated rite at the bottom of the steps and takes you back to the apartment for about 2 euros.
If you like early nights I wouldn’t advise these apartments to you as you can hear the night life, but it is bearable.
I would say these apartments are ideal for young couples and families look to have a great holiday.
I’m hoping to be returning to Puerto Feliz next year.
