Puerto Plata Aparthotel

Very good accommodation. Apartments a little basic very clean and well kept. Restaurant Vista Grill was excellent and very cheap. The poolside bar was very airy and poolside snack bar was priced reasonably. Happy hour was great.
Puerto Plata situated half way up the hill. Taxi very cheap less than 3 euros. Staff very friendly. Although accommodation was very basic the Puerto Plata is an excellent apartment complex.
Will be going back there in October this year.

Went to Puerto Plata apartments September last year hotel staff couldn't speak a word of English.
We got broke into whilst there, reps didn't care when we got broken into had to pay 45 euros for English translator as no one spoke English.
Apartments lovely and clean, spoilt our holiday with been broken into. If you go Puerto Rico I would advise to go to flicks cafe which is situated at top centre.

The Puerto Plata would be in position 2 in my top 3 holidays that I have ever had, it is situated half way up the right hand side of the hill close to everything.
I would recommend walking down the hill, but get a taxi back for the price of 3 euros. We met the only English taxi driver on the Island and made him our personal chauffer. We only book for 10 nights and an hour before we were due to leave we decided to stay; we stayed for another 14 day.
The Puerto Plata has one of the best restaurants on the island right on your door step; we would highly recommend the lobster. We are going back the bar staff are great fun.

This was a very nice base for a holiday, close to everything and accommodation was excellent but basic. Great for budget travellers.
Although the walk up the hill can be quite hard in the heat it's worth it even if you stay on site as the pool side bar has a great atmosphere and excellent value for money and the meals are lovely.
Encountered no cockroaches in our room and they were well maintained and cleaned regularly.

This is probably one of the best holidays I have ever had. The resort had plenty of entertainment, was well kept and a good pool. It was in the middle of the two main centres, so day or night everything was close at hand.
With so much on offer, water parks, restaurants, nightlife, 10 min walk to the beach, for boat trips, pedaloes, or just relaxing it really does have something for everyone. There is also a very good, cheap bus service which made exploring other parts of the island simple and English operators on had to get you on the right bus. Will definitely go back.
