" Disappointing "

Me and my partner (Early 20's) have just returned from our 2 week stay at the Taurito Princess.
overall we were quite disappoitned, The food wasnt great, Alot of fish which we disliked. Lots of variety of food but the quality was not to a 4* standard.
The hotel needed modernising and our room was not cleaned once in the 2 weeks we were there, the sheets were changed on a wednesday.
Lamps needed new bulbs and the t.v did not work. Night time entertainment for children was good but adult entertainment didnt start until 10pm and was quite repetetitive each night, alot of dancing and circus acts. The pool area was lovely although you did have to get up early to get a sunbed. In a few reviews i read no inflatables in the pool, we had a rubber ring which we were allowed in the pool and lots of children had other toys.
If you have young children, request to have a room on a low floor as the lifts are very unreliable!!
We found that there were not many British people there, mainly German.
We felt we were in the middle of no where, not many shops around, you have to get buses or taxi's everywhere. We went to Mogan on a Friday for the weekly market which wasnt very impressive, it was very busy and the stall owners were quite rude! We bought a few souveniers, Bracelets etc. Lots of Rip off T-shirts (Dolce & Banana)
We has a great holiday due to friends we made, and a free bar!
Bar staff were very friendly, as were the restaurant staff. Our Thomson rep (Gemma) Was always there if we had anything to ask. We went on the 4X4 Trip which was a good day out, If you are scared of heights this trip is not for you!!!!
On a good note the weather was FANTASTIC!!! There was a heatwave whilst we were there, 47 degrees towards the end of our 2nd week. definatley needed our factor 30!
And finally for the men that dont know, you need long trousers to wear at dinner, no 3/4 lengths, you will be turned away if they are not full leg.
I hope my review helped!

" sensational "

fantastic 2 weeks will definitly go again food was top class besides the usual top quality there was also a theme each night eg mexico, china etc lunchtime meals were full range including good selection of sweets.freshly cooked full english every morning.couldn't fault anything in resturant.evening entertainment was pretty good, piano bar was also good entertainment,8-midnight with a good range of music to please everyone.beach is nice and sandy(don't know why it's advertised as shingle & sand)anyone who likes snorkeling will be made up on the right side of beach there are rocks and fish are brightly coloured, take a bit of bread in a plastic bag and you'll be well pleased.hotel is really spacious large balconys on most rooms.back to the food meats available were beef, pork,(steaks & sliced)chicken cooked in various ways, rabbit and turkey.fish of the day plus whole salmon, mussells and shrimps & prawns.

Advice: quiet but a good location

Activities: must go to mogan on the free bus, palmino park is a good day out but get a packed lunch from hotel,

" A QUIET GET AWAY "

Just returned from a one week stay, and very much enjoyed it. Hotel was very clean, rooms cleaned daily. Food so much of it, and something for everyone. Beautiful view from the balconys, and the night entertainment was passable. If your looking for a quiet get away, somewhere to just relax then this is the place. Before you travel and your a CAT LOVER, then remember to pack some cat food and biscuits. There are 7 cats that sit on the bridge just outside the hotel, and besides most people feeding them titbits from the hotel, they really love their own cat food. This is highlight to our hoilday, feeding them and watching their tummys fill. If your a animal lover then you will understand. Overall a great place in the sun. The only downfall the flight and the hour coach ride from their airport to the hotel

Advice: Stay away from the shops in puerto rico, shop owners are very rude and aggressive

Activities: friday market at mogan, and always barter for the best deals

" Christmas 08 at Taurito Princess "

We arrived on 22 Dec for 1 week. We have 3 children aged 4, 3 & 1 yrs old. Our transfer coach from the airport to the hotel broke down, so we had to wait an hour for the replacement coach!.
The hotel was clean and we had an adjoining bedroom with the kids which was a very good size and cleaned daily. We were on the 10th floor, so had to use he lifts for the pushchair and had to wait nearly every time, as lazy people called the lifts from the 1st & 2nd floors !!
The food was the same every night, it was fine but nothing special.
The gala Christmas dinner was bizarre...the waiters served to the tables rather than the usual evening buffet.
The kids had a massive plate of Spagetti bolognese followed by half a roast chicken & chips for main, then a sickly chocolate slice for pudding....all of this took around 2 hours to serve. They were definetly under staffed for the night, the kids were climbing the walls by the end of it.
The evening entertainment was boring, the kids disco wasn't til 8.30pm, only for 20 minutes, not really worth keeping young kids awake for. Adult entertainment didn't start til 10pm and was rubbish. The all inclusive wine/cava was horrible.
Most of the guests are pensioners and quite miserable. We definelty wouldn't return here, it was quite a depressing place especially around Christmas which should be a fun time !.
No where to walk so pretty much confined to the hotel unless paying out for taxi/bus else where!

Advice: Would suit the over 60's.

" We stayed at The Taurito Princess... "

We stayed at The Taurito Princess between 8th sept- 22nd sept 2008.When we arrived outside the hotel we were quite impressed , it looked like a really nice hotel. On entering reception area i was qute disappointed ,although the hotel seemed spotlessley clean and the reception staff were very friendly and polite there was something missing!! All the reception area is white marble but there is alot of cracks in the marble and it looks a bit scruffy when you take a closer look!! Check in was quick and straightforward , we were on the 11th floor so we headed to the lifts which were a total nightmare , i think we waited about 20 mins until we were finally in the lift, these remained pretty much a prob throught the holiday..I was really disappointed with the rooms , although theywere clean and the bathroom was a decent size they are very dated , the curtains dont even match the bedding !! The daytime entertainment is ok for the kids and the watergames are ok but dont be expecting much at the night time because you will be very disappointed !! The show lasts between 30- 40 mins and then thats it, out of the 14 nights we were there the only shows we enjoyed were the four tops and tramps!! .Everyone disappears after the show ends so basically your sitting in a empty bar until 12am then everyones off to bed anyway !! I was extremley disappointed with the drinks , the cocktails are already mixed from a machine , you dont even get any fancy things in your glass which you would expect to get in a 4 star hotel !! Breakfast was the best meal of the day , with everything you can imagine , lunch and tea was chicken , beef or pork with all the usual all inclusive trimmings , not much to choose from really , i really struggled to find something i wanted to eat !!. Snacks around the pool are o.k burgers, hot dogs , chips , toasties they keep you going !! .Playa Taurito itself is very quiet and all the hotels lights go out at 11pm this apparently has something to do with the hotels looking like a cruise ship when your out at sea so you cant even sit on your balcony after this time !! There is no where to walk , no bars or restaurants if you fancy a change .We paid £2,500 for the 2 of us for this holiday so we didnt want to be spending out getting taxis into Puerto rico every night ,other than that your pretty much stranded. We felt like we had been sedated every night as ive never had so much sleep but still been so tired , 11pm came and we were yawning and ready for bed.Another thing , i have never seen so many miserable people in my life staying at this hotel , infact i felt quite depressed by the end of the holiday and couldnt wait to get home ...Overall even though the hotel is spotlessly clean it is never a 4* hotel , its more a 3* i have stayed at many 4 and 5 * hotels throught the world and this has got to be the worst i have every stayed at!! I would not return to The Taurito Princess again or any other Princess hotel as i feel they are not good enough of their 4 * ratings , you get much better quality at other hotels .

" Holiday was 21st August - 1st Sept... "

Holiday was 21st August - 1st Sept 2008, traveled with 2 teenagers, 17yr olds. We arrived quite late, should have been 12 midnite but was 1.30am, we were the last drop off. The hotel reception is spectacular, all marble, a nice little fountain, comfy chairs and large desk, we were greeted by english speaking staff and checked in which was quick. We were then guided to the restaurant were they had prepared a snack for all the late comers, quite a nice touch! Your given wrist bands for your stay, blue for adults and orange for under 18s. Our room was on the 3rd floor, room 313 and it was brilliant, large balcony directly over the pool and overlooking the beach/sea. The hotel has 3 glass lifts which give a great view, but be warned they are very slow especially a meal times and they are not very big inside either, but lucky for us we could use the steps. The hotel is emaculate, staff are always cleaning, our room was of a good size, 3rd bed is a camp bed and was ok for a teenager, tv with eurosport which came in handy for the olympics and sky news all the rest were spanish/german speaking channels. Lovely large bathroom with bath/shower, hairdryer. We hired the safe, 6 euro deposit and 30 euro to hire, you can also hire the fridge. The rooms are airconditioned free of charge and was very welcome as it can get very hot in August. Rooms were cleaned every day, if you wanted a change of towels you just had to put them on the floor in the bathroom and you would receive fresh ones.

The food was very good, a very wide selection of cheeses, breads, meats, fish, salads, soups, deserts, fruits, show cooking every day we were there, however, was repeated the second week. Breakfasts were good with the usual for a good english breaky, plus omelettes, fruit, yoghurts, cheeses, cold meats, cerials, a choice of fruit juices and water. Lunch in the dining room was good too as was dinner, please note men must have long trousers for the evening meal. The restaurant staff were very nice and friendly as was the head waiter Samuel. The dining room was a little on the warm side as they didn't use the air con during meal times. You also have to wait to be seated.

By the pool - very hot in August, lots of sun beds, however, the rule of staff taking the towels off before 10 oclock wasn't really used with any consistency, only saw staff doing it twice during our stay, so unfortunately if you wanted a good spot by the pool you had to be up by at least 7am to secure it. It was hilarious watching ppl at that time of morning putting down towels, some mornings it was still quite dark at 7am. The pool area was clean and well maintained, there was a bar in the middle of the 2 pools and service was good, there was also a snack bar just past the childrens pool which was shaded, you could get hotdogs, burgers, salad, chips, pizza and freshly made sandwiches/toasty sandwiches, fruits too! plus alcohol, soft drinks, coffee and tea, all from 11-6. You were given pool towels to use on the beach or by the pool, they were changed free of charge once and then it would cost 1euro thereafter. The beach is literally on your door step, its dark sand but soft and very hot, so don't forget your flip flops! There were no sun beds on the beach but you could hire umbrellas as there was no other shade! We tended to venture down to the beach in the late afternoon when it had cooled down a bit. but preferred the pool area with some shade, weather was great, no clouds until our last day, and no rain at all, however being August it gets very hot, pool side some days got to 45 degrees, the adv. was around 35-40 degrees most days and as early as 9.30am!

Internet access was 1 euro for 10 mins, the entertainment left alot to be desired, you could go into the piano bar which was nice, or go upstairs to the princess suite where they had the live entertainment, the usual, snake man, dancers, singers etc., all entertainment finished at 12 midnite, so you could either go to bed or head out to Puerto Rico for the clubs, PR is about 15mins away and you could use the public buses as they ran until 2.30am, 1.20 euro and take a taxi back approx 12-14 euro, the clubs finished around 7am. We recommend Harley's bar with lady's night on Mondays (strippers included) then about 3am head out to Jokers nightclub, then crawl back to your nice quiet hotel in the cliffs, lol.

Do go to Puero Morgan, very nice and well worth seeing, the hotel puts on a free bus everyday, around 9am, Fridays are market days, lots to see and buy and they also have a man made beach there with light sand and blue water. PM is only about 5 mins away, opposite direction to PR.

In all we had a fantastic time in Gran Canaria, the weather was brilliant, there was quite a good mix of ppl, germans, spanish and us brits and we met a lot of great ppl, The hotel was fab and well worth the 4 stars, we will definately be going back again, its now at the top of our list.

" Having read many varied reviews about... "

Having read many varied reviews about Taurito Princess.I can reallly say that Myself,My Partner and 2 Kids aged 15 and 10 had a Fantastic time. The food was exceptional and well varied, catered for all tastes.Yes it`s a very isolated resort and has a black sand beach,We did not go on any excursions but there are plenty if you want them. The staff were really helpful always polite and made you feel appreciated nothing would be too much trouble, the rooms were basic(but only got changed and slept in them). The water park next door was great value,Spent time in there and alot of time on the beach. The pool at the hotel was great,But the mentality of racing for sunbeds was quite comical,if you went to beach then returned about 4pm you can get a sunbed and spend 3-4hrs swimming with no hassle. The queue`s at meal times were none existant and you were always greeted with a smile. The entertainment left alot to be desired, but the piano bar was very good. All in all would definately return to this relaxing comfortable resort.

" Negative comments:

Negative comments:
1..Understaffed bar at peak times resulted in 20 minute queues for drinks.
2..Very poor evening entertainment programme
3..In the midle of nowhere, nowhere to walk to. (we knew this before going though)
Positive comments:
1..Hotel, rooms and pool areas spotlessly clean at all times
2..Excellent choice of meals and of a high standard.
3..Friendly staff
4..Piano bar excellent
5..Beach close by and very clean

Holiday Overall:Myself and my husband went on this holiday minus the children for our wedding anniversary and would return again, as a couple. However, we wouldn't return with the kids in tow (16 and 10). The daytime entertainment appeared to be good for children but quite sparingly for what i observed. The watersports programme was good but very expensive in comparison to prices we have paid on previous holidays. A word of advice for the men is take long trousers with you becausse under NO circumstances will you be allowed to enter the dining room of and evening without wearing them! (I only wish i knew before going it would have saved my husband from looking hideous in a pair of trousers he borrowed from reception (who have an excellent supply).
The good points of this holiday heavily outweigh the poor and altogether you won't be disappointed. Enjoy :)

" We went here with our 15 month old... "

We went here with our 15 month old daughter. In general it is a lovely hotel. The staff are wonderful and are really lovely to the children. The meals do get a little bit "samey" after 2 weeks. It is in a very quiet, peaceful area (so dont go here for an action packed holiday!) The entertainment was ok......not outstanding, but good for a laugh. Gemma the rep is very helpful and knowledgeable. Rooms were spacious and comfortable, only one english channel on satellite tv (which happens to be sky news.) My only real gripe would have to be the damn lifts........there are only 3 for a hotel which holds 1500 people! Admittedly they do give beautiful panoramic views (when you can get in one!) My advice is take the stairs if you are able too! When they do finally arrive they were either full or they had broken down! We did enjoy our holiday here, but i would not like to be here at the height of the season, it was nice to have the hotel just under half full, in summer i do think it would be way too crowded (the poolside was nearly full while we were there)

" We stayed at the taurito princess for... "

We stayed at the taurito princess for two weeks, all inclusive.
We had an enjoyable holiday, the hotel was very clean, the staff were very very friendly.
The food is buffet in just the one same restaurant for every meal, which at times got a little boring, until my partner ate the fish which we hadnt a clue what it was but now think that it was raw and not how it was meant to be, must have been raw as he then spent the next two days and nites in bed and the rest of the week ill. Apart from this little incident we cannot fault the hotel at all. The pool are was fantastic and there were always activites going on.
The location is quite poor as it is in a small cove with just a couple more hotels, a lido and a beach cafe or two, oh and a mini golf! but the cafes were not open whilst we were there. We would get the buses into the other resorts, either the public bus, which will scare you to death around the high cliff roads or the hotel bus, that is the safer option. I have input photos of the hotel on this website, take a look.
Oh yes, and the bus that takes you to the airport never came to pick us up! bonus!!
This holiday was not cheap!!

" We have just returned from a week all... "

We have just returned from a week all inclusive at the taurito princess and had a lovely time. The hotel is very nice, however i would say its more a 3 star than a 4 star. It is an older hotel, which is in need of some upgrading. The rooms are quite spacious with big balconies, and lovely views overlooking the waterpark and the small beach in the resort.
The reception staff and friendly and helpful, the food is okay although it is quite repetative. One major downside to the restaurant is you have to get your own drinks at every meal, anywhere else i have stayed, these are served to you by the waiting staff.
There were also cracks and chips in a lot of the plates and bowls which is obviously a bit of a health hazard.
The resort is quiet which was fine for us, there is only one entertainment pub in the main sqaure, and a small childrens amusement area. The courtesy buses only run once a day from the hotel, so if you miss this and want to spend a day out then you will need to get a taxi. There are two new hotels being built in the resort and this is causing a bit of distrubtion in access to and from the hotel, much to the frustration of the taxi drivers !
In general it is an ok hotel, however after reading reviews on several sites before we went it didnt really live up to our high expectations.
