Submitted By: Mr P WhiteheadOnce past reception and through the inital waiting area and through the doors at the back to go to where we were staying, we could NOT beleive our eyes, it was a beautifull and a very pleasant place, with gardens, play areas and pool. The appartments were spannish villa type, upstairs and down stairs living area, very clean and certainly no pests seen crawling around, like most hotel and appartments we have stayed in.
Over all, the jardine Del Sol appartments were exellent standard, very relaxing, pleasant staff and you were never stuck for a place by the spacious pool side.
***** 5 Stars

Submitted By: Miss G HannahMackers round the corner have a Sunday carvery which is not to be missed at 8.95 euros and a pint at 1 euro! Very close to all nightlife - probably 5/10 minute walk to Yumbo which had excellent restaurants and bars.
Visit Shenanigans which is just outside the Yumbo as it a very friendly bar with karaoke and quizzes. The Kasba and Irish Centre are also close by. Will definitely be going back next October.

Submitted By: pllhstewartThe pool is a fair size but if you want a sunbed you need to get up at nine as everyone puts their towels on the sunbeds, not British really but we still do it. The noise from outside goes on until about 1 30 in the morning a bit annoying when you first arrive but you get used to it. We also had a bright neon blue light at the rear of our place flashing through the window we put cushions up against window to block it out, again no real problem.
The one thing that was annoying when we stayed was that there where 2 party’s of Irish girls and lads staying, shouting and singing until about 3 in the morning - not nice when you have children your trying to get to sleep. A lot of people complained but nothing seemed to be done, lucky they left 4 days after we arrived. Don’t let this put you off though as the place itself is very nice.
If you go with Thompsons don’t try and find the rep after the first day as they are never there, sell you the trips and goodbye. When you travel with them children up to and including 13 go at children’s fares when you book a trip with them its children under 11 pay adult prices, bit of a con really.
I would go back to Jardin del Sol again but not with Thompsons their service rated at about 2 out of 10.
Gran Canaria itself is a fantastic place to go we have been 5 times now and will go back again, love the place lovely people, great place.
One other thing to say if you want a good meal try the Britannia restaurant in cc Gran Chaparral about 2 min walk from Jardin del Sol, great food and great value about 4 pound for a 3 course meal and English staff. They also have a pub called the Windmill across the way, great night out if you like bingo, quizzes or karaoke and a great time spent a lot of nights here had a laugh.

Submitted By: Miss L BurnThe night life was brilliant the bars and clubs were hopping all day and night, although just to warn you about the Strip club beside the hotel. It is very discreet and doesn’t affect the atmosphere around the hotel we managed to wander into it unaware what faced us at the bottom of the stairs we just left straight away, although my boyfriend would have stayed all night if he had got the chance!!!
We went to the water park and didn’t find it suitable to our age group. If we had children it would've been great. We left after 1.5hours and headed into the Go cart track beside it, now this I would really recommend. The track was huge and the carts were the professional ones so they went up to a speed of 140 miles per hour. We also went on one of those booze cruises (and were completely conned). They told us a load of lies. It was the worse experience of my life the swaying of the boat had everyone sick. You had to pay extra to use the Jet Ski’s! The food was terrible and the drink was vile!! So I wouldn’t recommend it at all!! Over all I had the best time of my life and I would recommend it to Families, Couples and Groups!!

Submitted By: Miss K HagueThe pool bar was great for drinks and snacks during the day and the bar staff were really friendly as were the staff in the mini market and reception.
The apartments were very clean and had everything you needed more or less and the cleaners although didn't really speak English were very polite.
I'd recommend staying here, is great for kids also. It’s a shame they don't do any night time kind of entertainment as such when the bar is open till late night every night..
Yumbo and Kasbah within easy reach, was only 2 euros to the beach each way. I recommend taking a trip out to Puerto De Mogan to the market every Friday, really beautiful place set around the harbour, called Little Venice. When staying at Jardin Del Sol if you walk out of reception towards the road then turn left and walk straight ahead to the bus stop, catch the number 32 which will take you to Mogan and the scenery along the way is brilliant, especially when the bus gets to the mountain drops. If you’re not too keen on heights I suggest you sit on the right hand side of the bus on the way there and then the left hand side on way back.
Overall great apartments and I will be going back at some point when I can!

Submitted By: Mr M DentonThe apartments are laid out in a courtyard and are situated above shops, restaurants etc. This can cause some noise but we found this stopped by about 12 so shouldn't affect your holiday. We were above a Chinese restaurant with a big blue flashing light outside our window, this didn't affect us in the bedroom but if we had been sleeping downstairs, as there was no curtain in the living area then it would have been an annoyance.
The pool area is well kept with a large number of sunbeds etc. We never struggled to get one, even if we turned up at 2pm though you need to get up for the 9am unlocking of the sunbeds to guarantee yourself a parasol.
Location wise its ideal, not far from the Yumbo (10 min walk), the beach area (20 min walk or 2.50 in a taxi) and the Gran Chapperal centre about 5 mins away. The choice of restaurants close by is limited and the quality wasn't that good but a walk to the Yumbo etc. was ideal.
Overall it was an excellent holiday, the only downside to these apartments is the lack of air conditioning, you can hire fans (which we did - 15 euros a week) but generally found opening the windows made the biggest difference and the fan did little (we were blessed with a breeze at night though).
9/10 for me!

Submitted By: Mr N ColosimoThese are very tidy, very clean apartments with friendly staff. The maids are round everyday with towels, cleaning, and even washing the dishes for you! The barman was also incredibly generous with the spirits at the bar which were also cheap. In fact I had to tell him when to stop pouring more in!
The pool was good and clean with plenty of sun loungers and not over crowded like some places.
Location-wise it was good. Just 5 minutes walk from both Yumbo and the Kasbah though a good 15 minutes walk from the beach. Taxi's are only a couple of euros so we often caught a cab on the way back from the beach.
So bad news about Jardin del Sol.
The apartments were incredibly hot. Yes, we've been to Playa del Ingles 4 times before and to even hotter places at the hottest times of the year. There were no fans or air con. If you wanted a fan you had to hire one which wasn't really on. It would be like saying to guest to the UK that they had to pay extra if they wanted a warm room rather than freezing in our climate.
Other bad news was that I wouldn't really call it a family place. I thought that the many steps with short foot spacing around the complex also had sharp edges - especially those in the apartments which were also a little cramped incidentally. If one of you opened a cupboard, no one else could get past! Also, there was a strip club next door to reception as well as a motorway to the rear of the apartments with what seemed to be a mini red-light district called the Nilo centre. Fortunately the motorway and red-light are were over the motorway bridge - as we found out when looking to buy a room fan - honest!
All in all it was still one of the better places in Playa but I wouldn't take young kids. Just my opinion and I know many will disagree, especially those that seemed to be there and were having a good time. There may not be anywhere better though for the latter!

Advice: Be careful at the main shopping centres some of the shopkeepers can be a little too pushy
Activities: The trip on the Yellow Submarine was a great experience
