Jardin Del Sol Apartments Reviews
" Jardin del Sol were absolutely... "
Submitted By: Miss J McFaddenIn the whole two weeks we were there, we only had 3 or 4 cockroaches in our apartments which isn’t really that bad, it can’t be helped. But do not step on them in the streets. They lay eggs and hatch, so if u don’t want to be infested with them I suggest u do not step on them where possible.
There is a reception and a restaurant, arcade and supermarket right beside reception, but just be careful there is also a whore house, yes a whore house but its only open at night and it’s kind of underground so there isn’t much noise from the music.
There is quite a lot to do about the apts but as a young crowd we found ourselves struggling for things to do during the day. Not just in the apts but in playa Del ingles as well. Be advised great place for a week... not so great for 2weeks.
There are a variety of watersports to do on the beach which is easy a good 15 or 20mins walk away and before u get to the beach u come to all the night life which is quite a good spot. Shopping centres are pretty good too.
Always shop about for things before u buy a lot of the thing may be over priced. I found this especially at the Yumbo centre which is more gay orientated as there are many gay and lesbian bars in this centre, however there is the sky rider in this centre. If u stay at Jardin del sol you'll see a bungee ball type thing from your window. Definitely go on it its great but beware they record u in it lol
Gran Canaria is very very hot so please don’t make the mistake I did and wear plenty of sun cream!! However when u get off the plane in Las Palmas its windy but playa Del ingles is not like that.
I don’t think I’ve left anything out and questions email me if u can.
Have a nice holiday.

Submitted By: Mrs Beverley MellorHowever he did not spoil our time here as he was boring anyway. Definitely go back here, great location, but it is a long way (steep hill) to the local beach. Head for Flo's cafe for the best food on the island.

Submitted By: Miss R VennThe food was brilliant, the staff were so friendly! It was the perfect holiday for you and the family!
It was hard getting sunbeds in the day because people would leave towels on them overnight, or would get up early to put the towels on the sun bed. The drinks were brilliant and the pool was big enough!
The people on reception were friendly! And Alsamo behind the bar!
I would definitely go again and I hope to be returning there some time this year.

Submitted By: Mr P WrayThe Yumbo centre is a 5 min stroll away and all the everyday essentials are on your doorstep. Will be returning in September and already looking forward to it.
" Went to these apartments after being... "
Submitted By: Miss S AntillThe rooms were big enough and the kitchen was great for the light snacks and breakfast we made there. Having the opportunity to walk the pool on the morning is great, really hot and the gardens are lovely.
The whole time we were there, the gardens were done twice in a week and the rooms daily.
Everyone really friendly. We were lucky enough to get a pool view, unlike the person with the bins somewhere in these reviews.
Didn't like the place that much though. Bit scruffy, you could tell it was good for clubbing and nothing else!
The beach at Puerto Rico is beautiful and I would go there again definitely. We went in September for a week and there were not many English people.
The holiday was certainly made by these apartments!
" Recently returned from a wonderful 2... "
Submitted By: Mr K BluemanAt first, we were allocated room number 21, overlooking a bin area and we immediately complained that we had not paid in excess of £1000 to look at a bin for 2 weeks. No problem, we were moved to room No 6. This is at the quieter end of the complex and was overlooking the most beautiful gardens. Occasionally heard people returning home from a night out but not too bad at all for noise.
The rooms themselves are on 2 levels. The living area with the small kitchen area and pull out beds was adequate for the 2 younger ones we had with us. There was pay as you view satellite TV (1euro per hour) and that was handy for keeping up with news from home and a few cartoons for the kids etc. The bedrooms were plenty big enough for the 2 adults with ample storage space and a digital safe to keep your valuables in. No air conditioning but I found that if you slept with the windows open, it was not needed. The apartments were very safe and the staff all seemed professional and most importantly, honest. Facilities included onsite supermarket, launderette, money exchange, pool tables, 24hr reception and a daily visit from the reps.
The swimming pool was not massive but very clean and seemed to be enjoyed by everyone. Sun loungers, well what can one say, the usual towel brigade who monopolize them by getting up early and placing beach towels on them. Why? Are these people for real? Pathetic I would say, especially having done that, they did not use them until lunch time some days. Get a life people! The pool bar was quaint and accessed via a wooden walk bridge over the pool. Staff friendly, food ok but be careful as twice we returned food not cooked thoroughly. Drinks very expensive (2 x half lagers 3.60 euros). Took our own from the local supermarket. Staff inside a little crazy but good fun. The complex is so well situated for other restaurants, shopping centers etc. Avoid the Kasbah like the plague.
Went into Beckham’s bar and they tried to sell us 2 bottles of Smirnoff Ice for 16 euros until the wife politely told them to wear a mask the next time they want to rob us. Ridiculous. Had a fantastic night in Ricky’s bar at the Yumbo. The drag queens and the show were excellent and extremely funny. Spent many nights at Shenanigans bar and the DJ , Matt from Birmingham who supports Ipswich (don’t ask) was good. Very rude and vulgar jokes at times but he knew what audience he was playing too so that was ok. The regulars were in every night so that tells you how good it was. Well done to the hard working girls in there. They work hours on end often first in the Red Cow restaurant above and then into the wee small hours at the bar. Always smiling and so involved with the customers. The games they play in there are brilliant.
Went to Holiday world in Maspalomas and would recommend this to anyone with young children. Not expensive and very good way to spend a quality evening out. There are a few bars there too, one being the moonlight bar. A fat cheesy DJ who could hardly talk because he sounded out of breath all the time. Not my cup of tea but looking at his audience, I could see why the liked him, poor souls! Many of them looked like they were on benefits and don’t get out much so were pleased for the "entertainment" on show.
All in all, brilliant holiday. fantastic apartments, friendly staff and located close to everything. Would highly recommend these apartments to anyone.
PS - The sand dunes are something to be seen to be believed. Truly spectacular!

Submitted By: Mr Steven IngramA couple of things to watch out for are that our bed linen didn't get changed by the maids all week. We eventually decided to fetch spare linen from reception and change it ourselves.
Also beware of the excursions which the Thomson reps offer too. Unless you are seriously interested in buying a Timeshare, do not go on the free trip to Anfi Del Mar. We felt that this trip was a waste of a day. We also went on the VIP Boat Cruise, where we just about got value for money, although the entertainment on board the boat was provided by a singer with the strangest voice I've ever heard! Do not go on the organised trip to the Water Park, a couple we met did this and paid well over the odds - it would be cheaper to make your own arrangements.
I can also recommend the Yumbo Centrum for gift shopping, food and nightlife.
All in all, we had a fantastic time and would recommend Jardin del Sol for both couples and families. We certainly would go back.
" Just come back from a lovely week at... "
Submitted By: Miss C PageThe only thing that did annoy me was the fact that you could never get a sun bed, unless you was up at 8am. A lot of people had laid there towels out and would not be there all day which was taking up space that others could have used. I think that bar staff should have removed these if they had not been used for over and hour. The pool area is good for young families as there is a kids pool but also a very shallow end of the pool just right for younger children.
The apartments are in walking distance of some lovely restaurants. There are two either side of Jardin Del Sol that where absolutely brilliant, as well as and Italian called Rimmi which was gorgeous a bit pricey but well worth it especially the deer!
I love to shop and was a bit disappointed that it was mostly tacky souvenir shops, but hey a holidays a holiday can shop at home.
The beach is a bit of a trek up and down stairs, but you can pay a taxi 2 euros to take you right down to the beach which is well worth it! Especially on the way back!
I would recommended theses apartments to anyone! I had a wicked time and would def go back but not for a couple of years yet! (Like to go different places).

Submitted By: Miss A WillettI love stopping here as it is close to everything its walking distance to the beach and shops. You are spoilt for choice on where to eat. The pool is amazing it is so big and goes all the way around the pool bar.
The weather was lovely everyday and I got a great tan. Definitely going back next year! Next year it will be for 2 weeks a week is just not long enough.

Submitted By: Mrs S CoyneThe bar staff Antonio and Fran were fantastic, though I did feel sorry for them having to serve food and drinks in that heat (they need air con in the pool bar). Didn’t have a lot of time for the Thompson rep, if you didn’t book excursions with him he practically ignored you. We booked dolphins and whales, Sioux City and the water park independently and saved money and had a great time. Taxis are very cheap, only 4.50 euros to water park. Went with my husband and 2 teenagers, met some lovely people and the kids made some good friends.
We booked a superior apt. and got a microwave, iron and hairdryer (recommend you take your own hairdryer, bit difficult to maneuver) and daily maid service. Would have given it a 10 score if the rep was more helpful.

We stayed at this accommodation for 2 weeks and could not fault it, has been one of the best accommodations I have stayed in, the staff were very friendly. It was only a couple of euros in a taxis to the beach and was close by to shops bars and restaurants. We made some lovely friends at the windmill pub which we still keep in contact with overall I had one of my best holidays ever.
I would definitely recommend this accommodation and I am waiting to book up again for next year.

The views from all the rooms are sea view, we had a jacuzzi bath in the middle of the room which looked over the sea, which was really private. It was so relaxing.
We stayed all inclusive which was well worth the money. The food was excellent so much to choose from. The staff are so helpful and friendly.
I would recommend this hotel, plus no children under 14yrs.
The pool was lovely and relaxing only one problem had to be up early for sun loungers people was still putting towels on when not using them.
There are plenty of bars and restaurants just down the hill we will be returning next year.
