We have stayed at the Jardine Del Sol appartments a number of times now, but can aways remember our first visit, when we pulled up, and were told the enterance was up a side street, we thought "Oh my god, where are we staying?", as most hotels/app have grand enterances, the jardine was not like that at all. Once we entered the reception, our first inpression was clean and friendly staff.
Once past reception and through the inital waiting area and through the doors at the back to go to where we were staying, we could NOT beleive our eyes, it was a beautifull and a very pleasant place, with gardens, play areas and pool. The appartments were spannish villa type, upstairs and down stairs living area, very clean and certainly no pests seen crawling around, like most hotel and appartments we have stayed in.
Over all, the jardine Del Sol appartments were exellent standard, very relaxing, pleasant staff and you were never stuck for a place by the spacious pool side.

Just back from 1 week’s holiday in Jardin Del Sol. Complex was very good. Very quiet and relaxing with no rush for sunbeds as they were available all day.
Mackers round the corner have a Sunday carvery which is not to be missed at 8.95 euros and a pint at 1 euro! Very close to all nightlife - probably 5/10 minute walk to Yumbo which had excellent restaurants and bars.
Visit Shenanigans which is just outside the Yumbo as it a very friendly bar with karaoke and quizzes. The Kasba and Irish Centre are also close by. Will definitely be going back next October.

As you arrive it doesn’t look to clever, but when you get inside it’s a little world of its own like a little oasis. The staff all speak English and are very friendly the rooms are on 2 floors, bedroom and bathroom upstairs and living room and kitchen downstairs with a small garden and table and chairs outside. We went as a party of 9 and were put next to each other in 3 separate apartments, 7 adults and 3 children.
The pool is a fair size but if you want a sunbed you need to get up at nine as everyone puts their towels on the sunbeds, not British really but we still do it. The noise from outside goes on until about 1 30 in the morning a bit annoying when you first arrive but you get used to it. We also had a bright neon blue light at the rear of our place flashing through the window we put cushions up against window to block it out, again no real problem.
The one thing that was annoying when we stayed was that there where 2 party’s of Irish girls and lads staying, shouting and singing until about 3 in the morning - not nice when you have children your trying to get to sleep. A lot of people complained but nothing seemed to be done, lucky they left 4 days after we arrived. Don’t let this put you off though as the place itself is very nice.
If you go with Thompsons don’t try and find the rep after the first day as they are never there, sell you the trips and goodbye. When you travel with them children up to and including 13 go at children’s fares when you book a trip with them its children under 11 pay adult prices, bit of a con really.
I would go back to Jardin del Sol again but not with Thompsons their service rated at about 2 out of 10.
Gran Canaria itself is a fantastic place to go we have been 5 times now and will go back again, love the place lovely people, great place.
One other thing to say if you want a good meal try the Britannia restaurant in cc Gran Chaparral about 2 min walk from Jardin del Sol, great food and great value about 4 pound for a 3 course meal and English staff. They also have a pub called the Windmill across the way, great night out if you like bingo, quizzes or karaoke and a great time spent a lot of nights here had a laugh.

Hi, me and my boyfriend just came back from the Jardin Del Sol Apartments. These apartments were top class. The staff, food and pool were very friendly. The house like apartments was very spacious and comfortable. There was always enough sunbeds to go around (well that is if you were up to lie out).
The night life was brilliant the bars and clubs were hopping all day and night, although just to warn you about the Strip club beside the hotel. It is very discreet and doesn’t affect the atmosphere around the hotel we managed to wander into it unaware what faced us at the bottom of the stairs we just left straight away, although my boyfriend would have stayed all night if he had got the chance!!!
We went to the water park and didn’t find it suitable to our age group. If we had children it would've been great. We left after 1.5hours and headed into the Go cart track beside it, now this I would really recommend. The track was huge and the carts were the professional ones so they went up to a speed of 140 miles per hour. We also went on one of those booze cruises (and were completely conned). They told us a load of lies. It was the worse experience of my life the swaying of the boat had everyone sick. You had to pay extra to use the Jet Ski’s! The food was terrible and the drink was vile!! So I wouldn’t recommend it at all!! Over all I had the best time of my life and I would recommend it to Families, Couples and Groups!!

We went and stayed in Jardin Del Sol...

We went and stayed in Jardin Del Sol apartments in July 2007 for 2 weeks and found it really pleasant. Staff were great in reception and the bar, apartments and surrounding areas like the gardens/pool etc were excellent and kept to high standards. It wasn't too bad getting sunbeds, didn't have to get up at a stupid hour to get one as all sunbeds were locked up overnight and weren't unchained until 9am every morning but if you want a good spot you’re best being there at least 8.50am. The only thing that annoyed us was the fact loads of people went out in the morning putting their towels on beds and then disappearing for hours on end which wasn't fair on anyone who actually wanted to lay down to sunbathe.
The pool bar was great for drinks and snacks during the day and the bar staff were really friendly as were the staff in the mini market and reception.
The apartments were very clean and had everything you needed more or less and the cleaners although didn't really speak English were very polite.
I'd recommend staying here, is great for kids also. It’s a shame they don't do any night time kind of entertainment as such when the bar is open till late night every night..
Yumbo and Kasbah within easy reach, was only 2 euros to the beach each way. I recommend taking a trip out to Puerto De Mogan to the market every Friday, really beautiful place set around the harbour, called Little Venice. When staying at Jardin Del Sol if you walk out of reception towards the road then turn left and walk straight ahead to the bus stop, catch the number 32 which will take you to Mogan and the scenery along the way is brilliant, especially when the bus gets to the mountain drops. If you’re not too keen on heights I suggest you sit on the right hand side of the bus on the way there and then the left hand side on way back.
Overall great apartments and I will be going back at some point when I can!

We stayed for 2 weeks at Jardin Del...

Aug 2007, Mr M Denton

We stayed for 2 weeks at Jardin Del Sol in the height of summer (Aug 2007). The apartments are well furnished and well kept and fitted two comfortably. If there were 4 of you then it might be a squeeze as two would be on a sofa bed and the bathroom etc. wasn't that big.
The apartments are laid out in a courtyard and are situated above shops, restaurants etc. This can cause some noise but we found this stopped by about 12 so shouldn't affect your holiday. We were above a Chinese restaurant with a big blue flashing light outside our window, this didn't affect us in the bedroom but if we had been sleeping downstairs, as there was no curtain in the living area then it would have been an annoyance.
The pool area is well kept with a large number of sunbeds etc. We never struggled to get one, even if we turned up at 2pm though you need to get up for the 9am unlocking of the sunbeds to guarantee yourself a parasol.
Location wise its ideal, not far from the Yumbo (10 min walk), the beach area (20 min walk or 2.50 in a taxi) and the Gran Chapperal centre about 5 mins away. The choice of restaurants close by is limited and the quality wasn't that good but a walk to the Yumbo etc. was ideal.
Overall it was an excellent holiday, the only downside to these apartments is the lack of air conditioning, you can hire fans (which we did - 15 euros a week) but generally found opening the windows made the biggest difference and the fan did little (we were blessed with a breeze at night though).
9/10 for me!

Good news first and then the caveats...

Aug 2007, Mr N Colosimo

Good news first and then the caveats and bad news about Jardin del Sol.
These are very tidy, very clean apartments with friendly staff. The maids are round everyday with towels, cleaning, and even washing the dishes for you! The barman was also incredibly generous with the spirits at the bar which were also cheap. In fact I had to tell him when to stop pouring more in!
The pool was good and clean with plenty of sun loungers and not over crowded like some places.
Location-wise it was good. Just 5 minutes walk from both Yumbo and the Kasbah though a good 15 minutes walk from the beach. Taxi's are only a couple of euros so we often caught a cab on the way back from the beach.
So bad news about Jardin del Sol.
The apartments were incredibly hot. Yes, we've been to Playa del Ingles 4 times before and to even hotter places at the hottest times of the year. There were no fans or air con. If you wanted a fan you had to hire one which wasn't really on. It would be like saying to guest to the UK that they had to pay extra if they wanted a warm room rather than freezing in our climate.
Other bad news was that I wouldn't really call it a family place. I thought that the many steps with short foot spacing around the complex also had sharp edges - especially those in the apartments which were also a little cramped incidentally. If one of you opened a cupboard, no one else could get past! Also, there was a strip club next door to reception as well as a motorway to the rear of the apartments with what seemed to be a mini red-light district called the Nilo centre. Fortunately the motorway and red-light are were over the motorway bridge - as we found out when looking to buy a room fan - honest!
All in all it was still one of the better places in Playa but I wouldn't take young kids. Just my opinion and I know many will disagree, especially those that seemed to be there and were having a good time. There may not be anywhere better though for the latter!

My husband and myself have just returned from Jardin del sol on the 24 July 2007, it was fantastic.
The views from all the rooms are sea view, we had a jacuzzi bath in the middle of the room which looked over the sea, which was really private. It was so relaxing.
We stayed all inclusive which was well worth the money. The food was excellent so much to choose from. The staff are so helpful and friendly.
I would recommend this hotel, plus no children under 14yrs.
The pool was lovely and relaxing only one problem had to be up early for sun loungers people was still putting towels on when not using them.
There are plenty of bars and restaurants just down the hill we will be returning next year.

Jardin del Sol were absolutely excellent apts and really well cleaned and maintained. They have a pool bar, squash courts, pool tables, a massive chess board in the tiles on the ground (pretty cool looking) and ping pong tables. In the whole two weeks we were there, we only had 3 or 4 cockroaches in our apartments which isn’t really that bad, it can’t be helped. But do not step on them in the streets. They lay eggs and hatch, so if u don’t want to be infested with them I suggest u do not step on them where possible. There is a reception and a restaurant, arcade and supermarket right beside reception, but just be careful there is also a ***** house, yes a ***** house but its only open at night and it’s kind of underground so there isn’t much noise from the music. There is quite a lot to do about the apts but as a young crowd we found ourselves struggling for things to do during the day. Not just in the apts but in playa Del ingles as well. Be advised great place for a week... not so great for 2weeks. There are a variety of watersports to do on the beach which is easy a good 15 or 20mins walk away and before u get to the beach u come to all the night life which is quite a good spot. Shopping centres are pretty good too. Always shop about for things before u buy a lot of the thing may be over priced. I found this especially at the Yumbo centre which is more gay orientated as there are many gay and lesbian bars in this centre, however there is the sky rider in this centre. If u stay at Jardin del sol you'll see a bungee ball type thing from your window. Definitely go on it its great but beware they record u in it lol Gran Canaria is very very hot so please don’t make the mistake I did and wear plenty of sun cream!! However when u get off the plane in Las Palmas its windy but playa Del ingles is not like that. I don’t think I’ve left anything out and questions email me if u can. Have a nice holiday.

Jul 2007, Mrs Beverley Mellor

The hotel is very clean and well looked after, rooms are cleaned every other day, some times it was everyday! The bed linen, crockery and cutlery were all like new. All staff at the hotel are wonderful, very polite, and speak good English. Only one thing that let this hotel down and that was the Thompson rep who was only interested in you if you were 18 and preferably topless.
However he did not spoil our time here as he was boring anyway. Definitely go back here, great location, but it is a long way (steep hill) to the local beach. Head for Flo's cafe for the best food on the island.

Jul 2007, Miss R Venn

I and my family stayed in Jardin del Sol for 1 week.
The food was brilliant, the staff were so friendly! It was the perfect holiday for you and the family!
It was hard getting sunbeds in the day because people would leave towels on them overnight, or would get up early to put the towels on the sun bed. The drinks were brilliant and the pool was big enough!
The people on reception were friendly! And Alsamo behind the bar!
I would definitely go again and I hope to be returning there some time this year.
