This was our first holiday to Cyprus. We finally got there (after a 7 hour delay) and reached the Akti Hotel.

My first impression was the seemingly charming reception, the floor was marbled, there were beautiful potted plants dotted about and the receptionist was friendly and keen to aid us to our rooms.

A security guard then appeared who’d obviously forgotten his manners and grumpily took our bags and proceeded to our rooms forgetting to welcome us and introduce himself.

He walked to the room which wasn’t far and placed our luggage down, we appreciated his hard work in the heat and thanked him. He left and we now became accustomed to our suites.

We were all quite surprised to be looking at a 4 star hotel, that’s laughable. It was at the most a 2 star. The furniture rang of cheapness and the general condition wasn’t as posh and luxurious as what you’d expect from a 4 star.

What we then did was check the place for any kind of insect as we all knew previously that Akti was notorious for its unwelcome wildlife -thanks to this website!

We saw nothing and slept. The following evening myself and brother decided to go into the pool. We hadn’t noticed the sign which told us not to swim after 7:00pm. I jumped in and hastily got right back out as the same security guard came over and gave us both a telling off. “You’re not allowed to swim after 7:00” he told us, in which we replied sorry, respectfully. This wasn’t good enough and he wanted our room numbers to check us up. My brother gave him what he thought was our room number but what turned out to be not. He came walking back to us a little frustrated. He wanted one of us to go and see the manager with him! I told him I’m not going to walk through the hotel in my soaked state to see a manager! He wasn’t pleased and argued with us for a good ten minutes while we were incessantly telling him that we didn’t realise the night time rules (which is just absurd). He was clearly a power head, the tough, macho guard. He bothered us a little more on our holiday, he’d often shine his tourch purposefully into our eyes whilst he inspected the area and we always caught him telling some other people off who protested they were just sitting by the pool! (This guy has to go.)

The insects we encountered in our apartments were huge cockroaches, hundreds of ants, praying mantis, large ants...

We got rid of whatever we saw with insecticide (anyone staying at Akti better have this stuff or it could prove to be a truly horrible time.)

The great thing about the Akti location is that it’s right next to Coral Bay, so a lot of the days we just snorkelled there, and it’s beautiful waters enabled us to see the fish we were swimming amongst. (A must if you’re staying at Akti)

So overall, the accommodation was below satisfactory; the staffs were generally friendly, just the guard that had no business to deal with us in the manner he did.

We got back from are holiday a few days ago and we were very dissapointed to leave.

We got to the hotel at 7am the staff were really helpful and quick at getting are room keys ready for us, we got to are rooms they were very basic the balcony was big though you got fresh towels everyday and clean bedding. The showers/baths weren't very clean though and when we first arrived we had ants.

We went down for breakfast and were overjoyed they had everything to cater for anyone really pancakes omlettes fried eggs bacon etc.

We were stopping in the annex hotel so we used the pool there but there are 3 bigs pools and 4 children pools. The pools were very nice clean the pool bar was clean at the annex pool bar only you can get cheese toasties or cheese and ham toasties. Kimbo one of the people in the anmation team was very good she talked to you and was very firendly, she is in charge of the sports entainment in the day and does the shows at night.

When we went down for dinner we were still impressed about all the food there was this time the italian bar was open witch cooked pizzas in frount of you they were delious and there was the grill bar were they grill the meat mainly pork and chicken everyday witch you get abit sick of.

In the annex hotel there wasn't much entainment just bingo and quizs everynight but if you went down to the main hotel there was a thertre were they held all the shows.

Overall we really enjoyed are holiday and all the people we met the staff were really friendly and i would deffently reccomend this to people who want a nice holiday.

WE ARRIVED AT 1.30AM AND TAKEN TO OUR ROOM, IN THE ANNEX SECTION OF THE HOTEL. FIRST IMPRESSIONS WERE BASIC ROOM, YET AGAIN SINGLE BEDS PUSHED TOGETHER AND A TINY SHOWER SPACE BUT WE FOUND THE BEDDING AND TOWELS WERE CLEANED AND CHANGED DAILY, SO THAT WAS VERY GOOD. THERE WAS A LARGE VARIETY OF FOOD, A PIZZA AND PASTA SECTION, A CHINESE SECTION AND COOKED MEAT SECTION ALL COOKED ON THE SPOT AND FRESH. MANY SALADS AND VEG CHOICES, THE FOOD WAS GREAT. LOCAL GREEK DISHES EVERY FEW DAYS WITH FETA AND YOGHURT ON TAP....WONDERFUL. WE FOUND GEORGE THE RESTAURENT MANGER DELIGHTFUL AND SUPPORTIVE TO HIS STAFF, ALSO A LOVLY TEAM.

GRANTED THE ENTERTAINMENT DURING THE DAY WAS NOT THE BEST, BUT THE TEAM IN THE ANNEX WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND KEPT THE YOUNGER GENERATION OCCUPIED, WHILST CHATTING TO EVERYONE ELSE TOO. THE NIGHT TIME ENTERTAINMENT WAS THE SAME TEAM PLUS OTHERS FROM THE REST OF THE COMPLEX TOGETHER PUTTING ON SHOWS, OR QUIZ AND BINGO!!! THEY WORKED HARD AND DID THEIR BEST. THE THEATRE IS OUT OF THE WAY, BUT I WOULD ADVISE ANYONE WHO HAS NEVER VISITED THEIR HOTEL BEFORE TO LOOK FULLY AROUND THE COMPLEX AND THEN THEY WILL FIND ALL THE AMENATIES THAT THEIR HOTEL HAS TO OFFER. DAILY AND NIGHTTIME ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAMMES WERE ALSO DISPLAYED OUTSIDE THE RESTAURENT.

SORRY BUT WE CANNOT COMMENT ON THE KIDS CLUB, ALTHOUGH THERE LOOKED TO BE A GREAT PLAYSCHOOL AND PLAY PARK AREA WITH LOTS ON OFFER.

WE HOLIDAYED 24TH JUNE FOR 10 NIGHTS AND LOTS OF SINGLE SEX GROUPS WERE THERE TOO, ALL JOVIAL, NOISY AND OVER ZEALOUS ON FREE BOOZE, SO WE WERE ADVISED TO TRAVEL NO LATER THAN 16TH JUNE IF WE WANTED A QUIETER HOLIDAY.

KARDEMENA WAS VERY BASIC, 2 STREETS WITH SIMILAR SHOPS AND LOTS OF BARS. QUIET IN THE DAY THEN BUZZING AT NIGHT. WE WALKED THROUGH THESE STREETS ONE NIGHT AND YET ONLY IN OUR MID 40'S WE FELT LIKE WE WERE ON A SAGA TOUR, NOBODY ASKING US INTO THEIR BARS, JUST THE RESTAURENTS, STILL VERY ENJOYABLE GIVING US A GOOD LAUGH.

KOS TOWN IS VERY BEAUTIFUL AND WELL WORTH A VISIT TO LOOK AROUND. WE ALSO HIRED A QUAD BIKE AND TOURED AROUND THIS BEAUTIFUL ISLAND.

WE WOULD DEFINATELY RETURN TO AKTI AGAIN, THE WEATHER WAS SUPERB IN THE 40'S ON OCCASION.

THIS GREEK HOLIDAY WAS A BARGAIN, AND WE GO ON HOLIDAY TO RELAX AND HAVE FUN, NOT PICK FAULT WITH EVERYTHING.

HAVING MULTI NATIONALITIES HOLIDAYING TOGETHER IN A SMALL VACINITY YOU HAVE TO CATER FOR EVERYONE, AND THIS HOTEL DID JUST THAT.

CANT WAIT TO RETURN.

just got bk from hols in akti beach club, weather was fab, hotel was nice, plenty of variety when it came to the meals, we stayed in the annex part the rooms were basic first night we arrived there was a power cut so no electric or water, it was soon sorted, rooms very basic cold water tap on the sink did not work, only a net curtain on the window which overlooked the main road and we were on the ground floor, cos we ad no children they put us by the youngsters we were woken up every morning at 4.30 and again at 7.30 cos youngsters were arriving home from night out they were fighting outside our room we did not feel safe at all, we complained 3 nights in a row and asked to b moved and offered 2 pay 2 but was told hotel was full. the pools were nice, some staff miserable, entertainment was terrible for adults aswell as children, we hired a car for 3 days and enjoyed going off, hotel is just outside kardemena which has a lovely beach and plenty of shops a free bus will take u there, nothing around the hotel if u wanted a walk, would go bk to kardemena but would not stay at the same hotel would find one more central, we do not blame sunshine holidays they were a gd company to book with and we ad no problems with them at all.

Travelled here end of May/June with my 2 older children and had a lovely relaxing holiday. Our room was in the main part of the club akti with pool views to the front and stunning mountainous views to the back. The room was ok,problems with the balcony door not working and a broken window in the bathroom, both were rectified immediately but felt this shoud've been dealt with before arriving. Also we had an ant problem but this was due to one of my children eating crisps in the room and leaving crumbs, again staff dealt with this immediately. Whilst there we heard other holidaymakers compaining about their rooms in the annexe part of the complex so i would recommend checking this out when booking. The variety and quality of the food was very good, you could choose from greek, chinese, pizza, italian so no complaints here although snack bar was dire and definetely leftovers. The pool in the main complex was lovely and although cold was a godsend as temperatures were in the 90's,could do with more sunbeds and possibly management could stop the reserving of beds as did one hotel we went to in Spain. Entertainment was non existant,my son was bored stiff but luckily into the holiday made friends and a few nights we all headed into Kardemena. The hotel provides a courtesy bus but you had to queue (which some didn't) in order to get on it and the last bus from Kardemena was 11.45pm so we got a taxi back costing 8 euros. The beach across the hotel is very dangerous with sharp stones and also dirty, fag ends everywhere and even saw a stinky nappy under a sun lounger..not nice!! I would recommend staying here if your looking for a quiet holiday, definetely not for clubbers as it's too far to walk into Kardemena and make sure your not booked into the annexe part. Apart from a few teething problems we had a great time, nice clean hotel, good food, great staff, gorgeous weather just crap location!!

Just returned from 1 week at the Akti Beach Club with my Boyfriend.

upon arrival we were given the key to our room and very excited to get settled in and start our holiday! once we got to our room i was very dissapointed! we had 2 single beds which were seperate and couldnt even be pushed together as they were on concrete basis (although by the middle of the holiday this wasnt even a problem any more if you know what i mean) the matresses were also very hard and we found our selfs waking up several times through out the night, the balcony door was broken and we had to shake it to get the door open, and we had a rather delightful view of... the car park!! when i went down to reception to say that we wern't very satisfied with our room and told her about the balcony door, the receptionist said that no more rooms would be avialable for another 3 days and refused to believe me that the door was faulty and said "thats not possible the maids check the doors daily" my response to that was "well im not lying the doors are broken you can come up and see for your self" it was then at that point she sent the maintenance guy up, who came armed with some WD40 which actually did the trick, and the door worked fine for the rest of the hol! we were also above the kitchen/dinning room, so it was quite noisey at meal times, and the hall ways echoed quite badly, especially when people decided to have loud conversations at 12am in them!

The food was OK, me and my BF had different oppinions, i will admit i am quite a fussy eater and found my self eating pasta in cheese sauce and chips nearlly every meal! They do a decent selection of food, but some times it can be a bit samey ie. the desserts were pretty much the same every day (cream pastry, cream sponge, ice cream). The break fast was the same ecery day, the usual fry up, cereals, cheese & hams, freshly made omlettes, pancakes and friend eggs done right in front of you, and they do have a toaster, but it doesnt actually toast the bread, i put mine through twice and still came out as white as it was before it went in! The evening meals were a bit better as they also had seperate chinese, italian and sushi bar, but each of those only had about 4 items. The Grill had something differnet every night, steak, pork, lamb etc. Toasties and ice creams are available between meals from the other bars.

The hotel is split into 2 parts, there is the main Akti club which is where mainly Italians and familes stayed (and us) and then there was another part called the Akti Annex, which was more for the younger groups of people on a party week away! there are 3 pools, we spent a couple of days at the Annex pool as it was more our kind of thing with people more our age and volley ball being played daily in the pool. Overall the look of the hotel was lovely, with lovely gardens. i cant comment on the entertainment on the night as we never saw any of it, because we wernt told where the enternainment was held. it was the day before were due to go home we actually found out.

The location of the hotel isnt that great, if you like to just stay in the hotel all the time then its fine, but if you like to go out for a short walk to the shops of have a chill out day on the beach then this really isnt for you, its a 45 minute walk to the main part of Kardemena where all the shops and bars are, the hotel does provide a free bus which takes you too and from Kardamena, but be sure to check the time table as they do not run frequently. and the beach was more stones and pebbles, with some rubbish. the hotel is listed as ON the beach, when infact there is a road seperating the hotel and the "beach" we didnt spend any time there.

So overall, the hotel its self was decent (appearance wise), the food was ok, and the staff were pretty rude at times (apart from the guy on the Annex pool bar, he was great), the location was crap and we found our selfs sat in our room playing cards! The day trips made our holiday half decent and i deffinatley wouldnt go here again.

I have added some photos, so be sure to have a look so you can get a better idea of the place.

My girlfriend and I have just returned from our holiday to the Club Akti Hotel, and our overall impressions were fantastic. It bothers me to read some of the bad reviews this hotel has been given, especially about the food, as it is clear that, for the price, this hotel is an absolute bargain.

The variety of the food was extensive, and over the 7 days we certainly never tired of eating it. We particularly enjoyed the grill, the salads, and the chinese bar. They also have themes throughout the week, including greek night and seafood night. Each of these producing some surprising dishes, even rabbit sneaked onto the menu! Understandably, this could sound too 'adventurous' for the more conservative eater, although i'm sure most would be satisfied with the chicken and chips that are available every day.

As it is an all-inclusive resort, you obviously have the benefit of as many free drinks as you like. We heard a few grumbles about the quality of beer/sprits available, as they are local produce. However, I did not find much fault with this, they tasted pretty much the same and definitely had the same effect! (To the girlfriends disapproval :o) The staff were very friendly, and you can even catch Tony, the annex bar manager, shaking his hips to his favourite tunes after shut-down.

As for the entertainment, it wasn't great, but we weren't too bothered about that. Fifi the tunisian bingo caller is a character, and his strange, zany accent will bring a smile to your face, if only for the first night. Fortunately for us, we met a great group of like-minded couples, one of which was an ex-rep. He put on two brilliant nights of entertainent off his own back, and certainly spiced-up the annex section.

All in all, a great holiday, and definitely worth a return visit. One downside was the number of Mozzy Ozbornes coming out to play at night, so cover up those ankles! You're always guaranteed the weather in Kos, or so the taxi-man told us on the way back to the airport, it certainly shined for us, and i'm sure it will shine for you.

P. S. Watch your luggage weight isn't over your allocated amount, they might be fine on the way out of Britain, but in Kos airport they charge 9 euro's per Kg over. We found out the hard way.

Just got back from Akti. Oh dear what a disappointment.Reception was very good. Food aimed mostly at the Dutch unless you like peas in mayo for breakfast. Not much Greek food on offer.Trays not refilled after 8.45.PM. Desserts ran out very quickly. Manager told off at least 3 people whilst we were there for petty things. I myself to was asked by the manager why I was going back in to eat again.

The beach was poor, more like rough grit than sand.

Our room was cleaned every day and the bedding and towels changed. the entertainment was not up to much and the childrens mini disco did not start until 9.15 pm. which is quite late if you have a toddler.

Overall I would not recomend this hotel to people with children, people that want a taste of Greece or like decent food. DTD.

Travelled to Akti in May with my mate, we're both 23 and had a really wicked time.We booked last minute and picked up a cancellation. We had the best room on the complex - ground floor, with the pool and shop right outside our terrace. Excellent if you want to put your towel out in the mornings before the germans steal all the beds, hop over the wall of the terrace, job done!

It was just coming into peak season so not everything advertised in the brochure was available, but this didn't by any means ruin the holiday.

Staff were really friendly, met some fantastic people and made loads of friends. If your not a walker, get a cab or bus into Kardemena, we did the walk once and wished we hadn't!!!

The beach outside the hotel was not great, it hurt my feet walking on it.... really stony and a bit tatty. Go on the pedaloes though, you can see loads of fish if you pedal far enough out, but beware, the manager of the boats may start blowing his whistle in anger and waving for you 2 come back in again if you go too far into the distance! Whoops!!

Food was lovely, lots to choose from, there were different sections, Italian, grill and Chinese... yum! Something 2 suit most people I think.

The entertainment wasn't great, but its a nice place to chill and have a few drinks at the bar. If you want something more lively, jump in a cab to Kardemena and take your pick of the bars and clubs, everyone is lovely and welcoming! Oh and have a cocktail for me while your there.... La Mumba.... it damn fine!! Bar 1960!

The beach at Kardamena is nicer, but busier. If you don't mind heights, go parasending... I'm not a skinny chick, but it still lifted me and my mate high into the sky... even if the boat did have to travel at 200MPH to do it!!! heehee! Really though, it was an amazing experience!

As we left Akti beach, it was starting to get busier, and I think it would get a bit too busy going into June, July and August time. The pool wasn't huge and there wasn't a huge amount of sunbeds either.

All in all, an absolutely fab holiday and I wouldn't hesitate to book there again. I'm jealous of anyone who is going this season! Have fun all.

Take care xxxx

Me and a large group of my partners family went on a weeks holiday to club Akti.

There were 9 of us in total ranging in age for 1-50, and although we all had slightly mixed views on some things, we all had a really enjoyable break.

The best thing about Akti for me was the food, it was amazing from the themed nights to the all day pool side grub, I couldn’t fault it and neither could anyone else in my party except my partner.

Now I should tell you this is, for one reason only, which is we only ate traditional Greek food once at the hotel, as a lot of the staff and holiday makers were Italian or German which didn’t bother us, just my partner but he got over it.

Our rooms were very clean and tidy and our maid was fantastic, she loved our daughter and would even come back after her shift if she was asleep, as she didn’t want to wake her which was great.

All the family also had our 4 rooms side by side, which were very convenient for us. We always had lots of clean towels and glasses on offer.

The only bad point about our room in my opinion was the front doors, they were very tricky to lock and it took me the week to figure out how to do it.

I was lucky enough to have a diving lesson in the pool with a very nice instructor, we also had several water sport games on offer thought the day as well as water aerobics,

the pools were clean clear and very enjoyable.

Other activities on offer were table tennis, football, 2 kids parks, internet access, tennis, mini golf and more also just outside the resort if you turn right and walk up for about 10 mins there’s a karting track, that will give you a very good deal.

Also I have to mention the bus in to Kardamena town from the resort, which comes every hour and is free, although we never figured how to get it back, so we just got taxis instead which were very reasonable at about 7 euros.

The shopping in town is wonderful and so is the food on offer, the harbour is lovely and the mini train is very fun.

Anybody who’s planning a visit to Kos should give Club Akti a go, as it really has a lot going for it, and is extremely enjoyable for all.

We really enjoyed Club Akti, the food was first class, which included theme nights, where the restaurant was decorated and the reps welcomed you with drinks. We had two rooms, as our kids are almost 14 & 12.We were lucky, as our rooms were next door.

The maid did an excellent job- plenty of clean towels etc! The hotel has lots of open space and you don’t have any bother getting a sun bed there is also your own beach with free sun beds! The only downside was that the majority of reps were Italian, and didn’t translate for us Brits, this didn’t really affect us as we tend to do our own thing.

We hired a car and drove to Kos Town and the town beach at Tingaki on the first day. On the second day we went to the water park, this was very good and good value for money. On the way back we stopped off at Paradise beach, which was very hot and crowded, so we walked round to Bubble beach, which is lovely and quieter, we found an inflatable water park, which my son enjoyed for hours, the best 3 euros I ever spent.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel, as it’s not too big and plenty of things to do, we played tennis and mini golf and football, also table tennis, when the table wasn’t broken, all FREE, you just give a deposit for equipment, also the boys and their friends fished off the jetty most days catching small fish and a squid!! Just be prepared- an Italian phrase book may be useful!

We have just returned from a 2 week holiday to Akti. Myself my husband my 8 year old and our very good friend. We had very comfortable accommodation, brilliant air con and comfy beds.

We had a fab holiday, made some fantastic friends and the Slovakian animation team were fantastic, not sure about the Italian team, sometimes a bit rude to the English but nothing spoilt our holiday. There was a nasty German and a very irate Italian woman, but nothing we couldn’t handle.

This is a very good family hotel all the kids had a great time. Food was great ignore past reviews, food and beverage manager was so nice and made sure you were well looked after. There was plenty of choice all the time and it was so tasty. Pools were great aqua gym with Suzanne was great, what a lovely person.

The other people I have to mention are Nicole the kids entertainer, mikey what a stunning man and last but certainly not last is the very gorgeous ivo, who made our holiday fantastic lovely man. Overall this hotel was lovely and we were a bit scared of the past reviews but don't let this get in your way. From four very happy holiday makers.

We have just returned from this hotel our party of 12 varied in age from 10 to 75.

Initial impressions were good, hotel was clean and modern with a very nice pool.

However the beds were hard and uncomfortable the food at meal times was plentiful but very repetitious it had a definite Italian theme. This we found out was because the hotel is biased towards the large number of Italian guests and all entertainment is also Italian based and left the English guests out. The hotel staff were good and helpful.

The older children in our party were not catered for entertainment wise the one small games room consisted of a ping pong table which was broken. We feel we should have been warned about this hotel being Italian orientated before booking, overall a disappointing holiday considering cost.

Me and my boyfriend had an amazing two weeks in the Club Akti hotel in Kos. The hotel seemed to have the perfect balance, it had all the mod-cons and was very pleasant and comfortable, but, at the same time, it still retained that traditional Greek feel which makes a Greek holidays so charming.

The food was lovely, we piled our plates high every night (and morning, and lunch time!). I am a strict vegetarian and I have a lactose intolerance but I still managed to eat well, There was always an impressive selection and it was produced to a high quality. The restaurant staff are great people too, very friendly!

The rooms were fairly basic, as always in Greece, but they were spotless and had a cozy and comfortable feel to them!

The location is ideal, there is nearly always a very welcome breeze and the pool area never gets too crowded.

The staff are always willing to help and overall, we had an excellent holiday and would definitely return!
