I had such an amazing time at Akti....
10 / 10
Aug 2005, Miss Gemma Loveridge

I had such an amazing time at Akti. The pool was lush and there was always something to do! Honestly, I think it’s actually the animation team which make the holiday worth while. They were all sooo friendly and always stopped to chat or push you in the pool if in Tom's case!!
Suzie had a fall when we were there so even though she had been given time off she still went and participated in the show every night.
Kevin was fab as well, always greeted us with an 'alright' whenever we went past and always managed to get the little kids dancing and helped us one day to get Tom in the pool.
DJ Tom was funny as well, the comedy show was especially funny, sadly he had to leave but luckily it wasn't until we'd gone home.
Aleol (? sorry I don’t know how to spell his name) the chief entertainer was hilarious especially with his dancing in the Bingo and his comments (clicketty click- a very good year for England!!)
Danielle the Italian one always had the water aerobics going and always checked you were happy,
And Tom, what can we say about Tom. Never stand close to the edge of the pool when he's around or your guaranteed to be pushed! But he got pushed in about 7days in a row, which is pretty funny!!! And I got a slow dance off him on my last proper night!! Thanks for that 1!!
And also the last night saw the new arrival of Angeline, the new German girl who I had a fight with while she sat on top of Kevin and I sat on Tom's shoulders, which was pretty funny!!!!
Thanks guys for a fab holiday and I hope to keep in contact with any of u if possible if any of u read this!!!!!!!!!!! Love Gemma xxxx

Aug 2005, Miss Amy Morgan

As soon as we got to the club I liked it, it was really big as the pool looked lovely. The room was nice it was small but cosy.
That day we got straight into the pool its cold but that’s what you need to cool you down, the weather was good there we had 3 days where it was windy but all over the weather was excellent.
The food was alright but sometimes it was cold but nearly every day i had water melon or chocolate cake.
Every night there was a show done by the animation team , there are 6 people in the team there is tom the DJ, Suzie, Daniel he did the water aerobics, a really cool guy who done a show, Kevin who is really good fun he does the mini disco every night and Tommy he was so cool he is really funny and is great to be around although you have to be careful else he will push you into the pool.
The kids club there is really fun I went there alot with my sister it is run by super duper shell and mad Marie they are so good with children and they are very pretty i really miss them.
I would definitely want to go there again and I miss all of the animation lot and the kids club lot
Love from Amy Morgan xxx

Excellent place for a lovely break....

Aug 2005, Mr M. Puri

Excellent place for a lovely break. Lots to do with the kids. Kids loved it. Definitely recommend it. Nice hotel with variety of food and salad. Bit disappointed with the hotel reception staff. Did not give us any information about the hotel, aircondition. lighting. Prefer the dinner with the lunch as there was much more variety of food. Good hotel staff lots of bars but the drinks get warmer as during through course of the day. overall good.

We’re a couple in our early 30's on...

Jul 2005, Ms F Monastero

We’re a couple in our early 30's on our first holiday. When we first arrived at the Akti which was in the early hours, we seemed quite impressed, the reception quite nice, the staff very helpful, the only thing that we were dying for was a bloody drink!!
The bar shuts at 11.30 and we were unable to even have a drink, I was pretty disgusted with this and to be honest not being able to have late night drinks did bother me all holiday as we were forced to go else where, which cost money. This wasn’t what I was expecting on an all inclusive holiday, I was told on all incs the food and drinks are on tap all day.
Our room was basic, but very nice, overlooking the pool with a balcony, we had two concrete single beds with a concrete table in-between, and so we were unable to push the beds together! Not ideal for a newly engaged couple on our first holiday together! The food was I thought 10/10 very well presented, nice and warm, with an excellent variety of all meats and fish. Everything was labelled so you knew what you were having.
My fiancé is a very very fussy eater and he had no problems we both put on about a stone! The entertainment has to be one of the biggest slumps, excellent if you have got kids, not relaxing at all if you are a couple, and not once did they do anything for the adults, it was definitely Butlins in Greece. The beach was awful, very dangerous and you must wear shoes, a guy cut his toe open whilst we were there.
Kardamena was excellent, the beach was great, bars and restaurants superb. Kardamena was above all the most liveliest area, mainly for 16 year olds on 18-30's, but it is very easy to get away from the main strip if you don’t like that kind of thing. We found an excellent cocktail bar on the beach which we went to most nights. Kardamena is about a 50 min walk from the hotel and best to walk along the beach road. There is a free bus, which runs regularly from the hotel to Kardamena, it's jam packed and so hot though but worth it.
We went on a coach trip to Bubble Beach, well worth going to, don’t book your trip through the hotel we only paid 5 euro each to go to bubble beach, the hotel were charging 45 euro! There is a little agent in Kardamena called Harriet Travel go there. We also went to Turkey on a day trip which was also cheaper through Harriet, but definitely would not go there again, you get haggled, it's about 10 degrees hotter than Greece and not what you think it would be, the market was ****.
We hired a quad on the last two days and this was excellent, we toured the island and it was beautiful, definitely worth doing and such a good experience. Kos Town is lovely and so is the mountain Zia, Zia is lovely at sunset.
All in all we had a very good holiday, very expensive as we had to venture out, drink out etc. we wouldn’t go back there again unless we had children. But food is superb! Hotel great!

We arrived at the reception of the...

Jul 2005, leanne

We arrived at the reception of the Kalimera hotel and was told by our rep that this was were we needed to get off, I was a little confused as we had booked, or so we thought to stay in the Atki club!
Anyway we check in to the Kalimera and are told that the Atki is connected and that we can use all of the facilities so that was that we went up to our room which was small and basic but clean and went to bed. When I woke up in the morning I found that there was no running water so I could not brush my teeth or have a wash. I decided to go down to reception to find out what the problem was, the lady on reception told me that there was a power cut and that it would be back on shortly, 4 hours later we were still without water or electricity.
I decided to go and do a bit of sunbathing by the pool, but I could not find a sun bed, the only ones that were available were broken all the way down the middle (there were quite a lot of these) obviously more sun beds are needed as we struggled everyday to get a bed. Moving on to the food, to say it was not great is a understatement it was very basic looked horrible and there was no telling what you were having unless you tasted it, and even then I was not sure as there was nothing to indicate what the food was!
The snack bar was disgusting, it only served chips and pre made sandwiches that had been there for days and were literally just heated up. The soft drinks were always warm and came from large bottles and were pored in to small plastic cups, one day I asked for a cup of tea and was given a small plastic cup with hot(ish) water in it and a tea bag! And the alcohol was the worst thing I have ever tasted we only drank at the hotel twice as it was so bad. To call that place a 4 star hotel is completely laughable.
Although the food/facilities were a little better over at the Akti it was still no were near the standards you would expect from a so called 4 star hotel I heard a large number of other guest also complaining. All the staff were rude and unhelpful, we ended up spending a lot more money than we budgeted for as we could not bare to eat or drink in the hotel after the first couple of days.
On our last day we checked out of are room at 11 am, I asked the lady on the reception were the courtesy room was in order for us to get changed in later, I was virtually laughed at and told that were was no room for us to change in / shower and that we would have to change in the toilets (which were dirty, wet and covered in used toilet paper as the bins obviously had not been emptied in days). Anyway in the end we had to shower by the side of the pool. It was without a doubt the worst holiday I have had.
I was going to complain to my rep we did not see him again after the first day sunstar travel are a complete joke and I would never book a holiday with them again.

Jul 2005, Miss K Lenihan

Upon arrival, me and my 3 other friends were quite impressed with the look of the accommodation and we very much liked the large grounds in which it was set. We were then given our bands by the receptionist and sent to our room! OK so far! Well i could go on forever but let me just give you the goods- there was a large range of water sports at a reasonable price at which the staff were very friendly, we wasn’t far from the main clubs and bars FULL STOP!!! The bad points - the snack bar by the pool is filthily, the soft drinks taste like a bowl of sugar- oh and you have to pay for diet coke! The toasties are pre-made and left there for days! The food from the restaurant is revolting, its cold, looks unappetising and your lucky if it has got a label telling you what its supposed to be!!! Then we realised that the reason why we didn’t sleep for the first 2 nights was because on speaking to other guests, we realised that our air-con didn’t work! To cut a long story short, they messed us around for 2 days, sent us technician upon technician, the receptionist was very rude to me on a number of occasions when i was phoning them to tell them it was still not working. In the end i demanded to speak to the manager, who thankfully in the end gave us another room!! Our new room was then downstairs which was crawling with ants and was a room the maid seemed to keep missing!!! You had to be up at the crack of dawn to get a sunbeds- its not rocket science-they need more sunbeds!!! Basically, the customer service is rubbish and after they have taken your money, you are just a room number to them!!!!!!!
Lets just say, we shall not be returning to the Akti club!!!!

We have just returned from Akti Club...

Jun 2005, Mrs J Skinner

We have just returned from Akti Club Hotel and had a brilliant holiday the staff were very friendly and the entertainment was really good.
The rooms were basic and clean although I would not say four star. The free mini bus into Kardamena was really useful but fills up very quick so sometimes it is just as quick going for the local bus which only charges one euro. We met lots of friendly people and we had three teenage girls with us and they met lots of very nice people (hello to Jono, Lawrence, and family also my favourite Yorki he was so sweet and his sister Helen).
The food was ok but the kids section is only on at evening meal and closes at eight which was not so good as we didn’t go to eat till eight most evenings but I would advise people to take plenty mosquito repellent as we were bitten quite bad and this was quite a problem for most people.

We booked the Kalimera Mare for the...
10 / 10
Oct 2004, BATESY

We booked the Kalimera Mare for the half term between
23 October 2004 to 30 October 2004. 6 of us travelled, Me my Partner and our 2 children and my mum and dad.
After a long journey we arrived outside the Kalimara Mare at around 7.30am on 24 October. On leaving the coach the med hotels rep asked us to get back on as the reception at the Kalimera Mare told her that the owner had over booked the Kalimera Mare and we were being sent to the Akti Club. This was not a problem as I had read the reviews for the Akti Club and knew that it was part of the same hotel group. The coach took us 2 minutes down the road and we checked into the Akti Club.
Well what can I say, from the moment we got off the coach I was impressed with the Hotel. We were speedily checked in and were given a complimentary 2 litre bottle of water. We were given very clear instructions on how to get to our room and all the special requests I had requested for the Kalimera Mare were met at the Akti club. There were 6 of us travelling and we wanted adjacent rooms with a pool view on the
Second floor all of which we received.
It was still dark when we walked over to our room but after unpacking and then opening the curtains the scenery was delightful a mountain in front of us set the scene wonderfully and the hotel was set out beautifully, fifteen 2 storey white buildings set around a huge swimming pool. There was a convenience store on site which was a god send when I realised I had forgotten my sons arm bands, the restaurant was very large with indoor and outdoor seating . There was a wide variety of foods to cater for all tastes. There was always a range of meat dishes, Veal, Chicken and fish dishes and the buttered potatoes were divine.
The hotel is situated about a 45 minute walk from the heart of Kardamena town,. There are plenty of shops in the town selling everything you would normally expect in a holiday town with plenty of bars to stop and have a drink.
The beach is about 200 metres from the Akti Club. All 6 of us went on the pedaloe together which was great fun whilst myself and my mum were gently pedalling it , then my dad and my partner took over and I don’t think my daughter would agree that it was fun from then on as they rode the pedaloe into the waves created from the glass bottom boat as it went by and as she was at the front of the pedaloe she got soaked. Non motorised water sports are free including pedaloes, wind surfing, canoeing and snorkelling, however the jet skis are very expensive £35 euros for 20 minutes!!
The evening entertainment was not great at the Akti club, but it was the last week of the season. We would take our drinks back to our room and sat out on the balcony till late drinking and chatting.
My children loved the swimming pool which was very cold but the temperature was at least 28 to 29 degrees each day so we all appreciated getting into it to cool off.
I would strongly recommend to anyone to hire a quad bike. We hired them and went all over the island on it and one day even drove for an hour and a half from Kardamena to Kos town,. The ride up the mountain is quite daunting as until you are nearly at the top there is no crash barrier so you need to drive very carefully and concentrate, but it is a great way to see places that you would not otherwise see. Just remember to take your driving license if you are thinking of hiring one.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and I had such a good time I will definitely be returning again in 2005 and I will be booking the Akti Club as it seemed to be a lot more child friendly thank the Kalimera Mare and all the activities for the Kalimera Mare and the Kalimera Kos are held in the Akti Club.

Sep 2004, Mr M Harris

Very pleased with holiday! I would like to personally thank Diego from the animation team he works very hard to make it fun for all the family he is always very polite. The food, accommodation was very good but the locally produced beer could do with improving. They should also state in brochure that dress code should be worn in the restaurant. The pool was always very clean, everything was kept clean I would say Club Akti is a very good choice for families looking for a good all inclusive holiday.

Aug 2004, Mrs A Alldis

We arrived at the hotel at 11.30am our room wasn’t ready until about 12.30, Which wasn’t a problem as we was given our all inclusive wrist bands on arrival which allowed us to get a drink or something to eat whilst we were waiting.
Our room was ok TV, fridge, bath shower and balcony it was a bit basic but it was clean.
We thought the food was good although some people moaned about it.
If you like to sit around the pool all day you need to get up early to get a bed, we preferred the beach so we didn’t have that problem, the beach is shingle, we never had any trouble getting a sunbed no matter what time of the day we got there. It was a bit rough on your feet when you first get in the sea but apart from that it was very clean and clear water, and the kids loved fishing and snorkelling.
The animation team was brilliant they worked really hard all day and night and was really friendly.
We met some lovely people whilst we were there and spent most of our holiday with them. (Jimmy, Sharon, Linda, Clive & kids I thought I better get that in as you have my address). We all went to turkey for the day by hydrofoil, which was a good day out if you like shopping.
We also hired a jeep each for 3 days so we could see the rest of the island.
Overall we had a lovely holiday with blue skies for two weeks, the only thing I was disappointed with is where was Jimmy & Clive when they done Mr Akti !

Well where do I start, our plane...

Aug 2004, Not Specified

Well where do I start, our plane landed in Kos at about 11pm, after collecting our luggage we proceeded to the transfer coach where our rep told us our original hotel (Akti) had been over booked and we would be staying at the Princess of Kos Hotel, which was suppose to be all inclusive turns out it was far from all inclusive.
We stayed here for 2 days, by this time finding out there was about 20 of us that had been put into this other hotel (GENUINE MISTAKE?????)
People there were miserable, the food wasn’t worth risking and you had to pay for a sunbed on the beach.
After the two days we were then transferred to the Akti Hotel on arrival (9am) we were told our rooms would be ready at 12, so we left our luggage at reception and went straight to the beach.
The place looked fine as we walked through, when we got to the beach it was all shingle, and if you tried to get in the sea you would cut your feet open I wouldn’t recommend it for children at all.
After lunch we were taken to our room, this looked ok. Not brilliant but ok.
You have to be up at the crack of dawn if you wanted a sunbed by the pool, people were putting out their towels at 6am!!
As the week went on we noticed what looked to be sewage on the gardens outside our apartment, we were not to sure, the rep gave the excuse - the island is volcanic, then the truth came out as toilet roll then suddenly started to appear, kids had no idea many of them walking straight through or even playing football around it.
As the days went by I noticed our room wasn’t be cleaned at all, they were only changing the towels.
I would never visit this hotel again and I will certainly never travel with Sunstar Leisure again.

Aug 2004, Mrs c cunningham

On arrival we were a little disappointed to find we were separated from the three children . Their room was in the main building, our room was by the pool ... Too far away ! Our maid was fantastic and very pleasant my children’s room was not cleaned for 3 days, the toilet did not work properly and the step into the bathroom was lethal and they had no TV our room had none of these problems . Food no problem apart from the bacon , sausage and scrambled eggs ... Not like in England. Pool ok but you need to be up early to get a bed 7am should do it. Staff were fantastic especially Maria who worked like a trooper ... One complaint the bar man! Thought he was tom cruise in cocktail in hotel bar at night no way ignorant man and very sarcastic ... In other words a Pratt... And by the way only two drinks per person .
