Great holiday
We had avery enjoyable time here and the best recommendation comes from our twelve year old daughter who didn't want to go but is now desperate to again next year. I find it difficult to understand some of the negative comments made by other reviewers as we had a very positive experience. All the staff were helpful and friendly. It is hardly surprising that a hotel complex built on a hill has steps - can I suggest that Eastbourne may be more suitable.
Great animation team bad entertainment!
If you've already booked then I,m sure you'll enjoy it. If you haven't booked yet then don't bother! The entertainment was the worst part followed by the standard of the food. We had bacon four times in two weeks and got quite excited when it was on! Maybe that gives you some idea of the things to look forward too! Don't get me wrong it wasn't the best holiday that we'd been on but it wasn't the worst either. We've never been anywhere that has incited us to write a review but all the things that are wrong with the hotel someone else has written a review on, so don't do what we did and read good into all the bad comments but try to look at it objectivly! I'm not allowed to write everything that happened to us on this holiday otherwise they wouldn't print the review but one word of warning please don't enter any of the competitions! The familly party consisted of me and my husband two seventeen year olds one sixteen year old and one eight year old. Mostly french in the hotel some italian and tunisian some belgium and germans and about six british families! Big queues at the beach taverna for lunch massive amount of steps to get back up to main pool. Whatever you do don,t ask for iced tea otherwise you get apple juice! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
amazing!
the hotel was lovely. A great wide range of food to select from and the pools were georgeous. Plently of things to do, e.g. tennis, internet corner, playing pool, swimming in the pools, a park for kids, going to the beach. there was loads. but to get to the nearest town you had to take the bus witch was only 1 euro. There was a handy little shop at the bottom of the road to the hotel. It had a beach with banna boating, ringos, peddel boats, water ski and more. The aeolos beach was only a five minute drive from the airport. The rooms were air conditioned with a balcony for each room. The rooms were cleaned daily, and each room had a working T.V with plenty of channels inculding a video link into the main hotel at reception. They supplied you with a live entertainment each night and also gave a quiet ad peacful sofa area were you could sit and have a relacting time and could also keep an eye on the young ones. I would definitly go back there anyday. And I miss everyday that i'm not there.
Lovely Hotel - Wish I was still there!!
Wow!!! This was an absolute beauty. I'd never been All Inclusive before and was a bit apprehensive but was so surprised with how good it was I've booked to go again!! On arrival we were taken to our room - by car (which was excellent as we didn't have to carry our luggage around) upto a basic but clean room. The view was amazing. As we were quite high up on a hill, you could see right out to sea and across to mainland greece! It was gorgeous. I took pictures but they really don't do justice to any of the views there. The room was very clean and had everything you need, with TV (mainly german!) We did watch a film every night (in English!) when we came home at the end of the night. The top pool was a work of art, when you were sunbathing, it looked as though the edge of the pool dropped down the side of the hill, then rolled into the sea (you need to see it to appreciate it). It really was beautiful. The bottom pool was mainly used to sit around on a night time for the (not so spectacular) entertainment. The restaurant was excellent. The choice of food was outstanding (I'm a fussy eater and I was spoilt for choice). Sit outside for gorgeous views of the Greek mainland. It really is a beautiful setting. It's self service buffet so you can help yourself to as much as you can eat! Be prepared for clothes to become tighter!! There isn't much to do away from the hotel but unless you're wanting to party, you'll definitely enjoy this hotel. I'd recommend this to anyone (except party animals!) and would go back tomorrow.
Bad!
I had booked this hotel through medhotels, they gave it a 4* silver rating, and having booked with them last year, I trusted their opinion as our hotel was good, but this one is definitely not a 4*, and if I had known it was a mere 3* or less I wouldn't have thought twice, not even bothered to read any reviews about it. THIS HOTEL IS UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SUITABLE FOR OLD PEOPLE OR PEOPLE WITH WALKING DIFFICULTIES, UNLESS OF COURSE YOU FANCY ACHING KNEES AND POUNDING HEART. Upon arrival, our first impression of the hotel was not very good, it was dull, miserable and lifeless, although we arrived around lunch time, but then we realised that the restaurant is actually on the beach for lunches, so we assumed ALL the people are there eating! We had to wait a good 90 minutes before we were given our keys and remote controls for TV and air conditioner, we were lucky to get a room adjacent to the main building as breakfast and dinner is served there but not lunch. After checking into our room I was nearly in tears to see the VERY basic room, not what I had expected from a so called 4*, the floor was wet from cleaning and it smelt really bad, tables were covered with dust, and the TV was smaller than a computer screen with most of the programmes in German except for BBC news and some of MTV programs, and also an American film that gets repeated every 2 hours for a week (they change the film every Friday) So after a VERY crappy night entertainment that usually starts before the set time to get it over and done with, we retreat to our miserable room and spend the night watching news on BBC and put up with bored children! We went on 17th July for a week, expect to see lots of French and German at this time, not many english tourists as it wasn't the summer holiday yet, so maybe you'd see more of them after that date or beginning of August, so my children couldn't really make any friends, luckily my daughter is learing German, so she went around the hotel practicing her new language followed by her very bored brother. Food was ok and varied, drinks weren't that good, their Coca Cola doesn't really taste anything like Coke, so I lived on water for a week, you're adviced to go all inclusive as you're expected to pay 2.30 euros for a small diluted so called Coke. Their free coctails are rubbish, but the paid for ones are ok in the main bar. DISADVANTAGES: 1. Too many steps and steep hills, to go from the swimming pool on top of the hill down to the beach to have lunch is dreadful, so we gave the swimming pool a miss for a whole week and spent it on the beach. 2. Expect to queue forever to get a drink during lunch time as it's not a self service but served by a -desperately trying to be funny- man who lets the queue build up while he jokes around with kids! 3. Expect to see street and sick dogs wandering around the tables hungry, we had to complain about them twice to the reception desk, but no action was taken, and WE WERE TOLD TO CLAP OUR HANDS HARD TO SCARE THEM OFF! (WHAT AN ADVICE)! 4. Air conditioning is usually off during day time in the lobby when it's boiling hot! 5. Towels are not changed every day but every other day, and the cleaning service is bad, we lived with a dirty toilet and dust all week. 6. Not many sun lounges especially on the pool, so you need to wake up at the crack of dawn to reserve yours! 7. The beach is supposed to be private, but expect to see intruders, and friends of the hotel staff with their dogs favoured over you of course and offered sun lounges and drinks for free while you wait impatiently under the sun. 8. There were only 2 canoes and two pedal boats and a massive queue with one attendant, who wasn't really bothered to organise the queue, and would disappear for ages. 9. Waiters service is not efficient, but hey it's a self service thing isn't it? So you clean the table, pick all the dirty dishes and dump them on the nearest dirty table, turn the table cloth upside down, get your food, sit and eat! 10. Animation team is useless, not funny and all they do is clap all day long! they're very boring and don't really mix with people, and the shows are very boring and depressing. 11. Toilets near the pool and beach are EXTREMELY filthy and smelly. Advantages: 1. Food was varied and plentiful and they cater for children and there's also a section for less or non fat food for people with health problems like myself. 2. Staff are ok, not rude but not attentive either. 3. Being on a hill the weather is somewhat better than downtown Corfu, also the air conditioning is good. 4. The entrance is opposite the bus station that takes you to Corfu town, and it's 1 Euro per person to go there, there's a bus every hour or so, the last one that leaves Corfu back to the hotel is around 10pm, but the town really gets busy at that time, so we usually take a taxi back which cost around 15 Euros and it's a 20 minutes journey. There are no metres in taxis so make sure you ask about the price before you hop on. Shops in Corfu are closed on Sundays and Mondays but the souvenir shops are open until late, also coffee shops and some restaurants, but expect to pay around 5 Eruos for a small Bailey's coffee. I might go back to Corfu as I loved the town, but I will definitely not stay at Aeolos beach, and would never recommend it to anybody, especially those with small children and prams or those with walking difficulties, I'm 35 years old and couldn't bear all the steps in the heat, but maybe it's a good way to burn off the food you eat, so indulge and don't count the calories! I might have gone in the wrong time of the year, maybe you might find it better if you go at a less busy time or not during school holidays. I wish you a pleasant stay, not like mine. Good luck!
Fab!!!
After reading previous reviews we were a bit apprehensive. But we were surprised!! Our room was overlooking the large pool with a fabulous view of Mainland Greece which was only a mile across the seas. Rooms basic but clean. Clean bedding and towels on a daily basis. Food was great with a large variety to please everyon both Breakfast and Evening dinner. Beach bar had a hot and cold buffet and the snack bars pizza, hot dogs and rolls. Entertainment wasn't brilliant in which it focused more for the children which our daughter enjoyed. Some staff we very polite but there were the odd few that were not. The entertainment team were extremely pleasant and would try their very best to get everybody to enjoy their holiday. As the complex is built on a hill, this hotel is not for those with walking difficulties. This was our first holiday abroad for 17 years and it was our daughters first, we thoroughly relaxed and enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend this Hotel for both All inclsuive and Self Catering and we will definately make a return visit in the future.
One word-Fantastic
Got back today, stayed in a 2 bedroomed apartment. Second time to Corfu, first time at Aeoles Beach. I totally disagree with all bad comments about this hotel. The apartment was lovely, basic but clean. Housekeepers very friendly and really looked after you. It is set on steep hills, but it did help to burn off the yummy chips from the pool bar! I am not the biggest fan of steep hills, but the scenery took my mind off it!! The views from the balcony and from the pool were outstanding, and could see the mainland of Greece. The pool was out of this world. Perched on the side of the hill overlooking the beach. We went the first week in May, the season doesn't really start until 15th (ish), so local tavernas quiet. If you fancy a ride/stroll into Benitses it is well worth it. Lovely harbour and little shops. Some fantastic Tavernas, especially 'Mythos'. Weather was really good to us but had one night of thunderstorms which helped clear the air for the next day-scorching!! Corfu itself is beautiful. Luckily we had a car and managed to see most of the island. Best places to visit include: Kassiopi, Nissaki, Pelekas (up the hill to Kaisers Throne), Palekastritsa (The monastery and up the hill to Bella Vista or Golden Fox) and of course Corfu Town. Fantastic Sights and lovely locals. The only negative i can think of is the insect bites. Take plenty of repellant and apply as much as possible. I obviously taste good local bugs!!! Ouch! Anyone who is worried now they have read the bad reports- do not worry, i can totally reccommend it. Enjoy!
What a great pool
My boyfriend and I both had a brilliant week in Corfu. The hotel, although set on a hill & therefore quite demanding on the thighs, was lovely. Wherever you stood on the grounds there were fantastic views of the ocean & you could even see across to Albania. The pool was fab! It was situated at the edge of the hill & therefore even when you're sunbathing on the loungers or messing about in the pool, there were great views. The food was plentiful & being All Inclusive, you can eat as much as you like. The local alcohol was included also, which was much appreciated! There were plenty of excursions to take advange of & we decided on scuba diving (near Ipsos) & Aqualand. Both were excellent days out & the prices were pretty reasonable aswell. The coach pick-up point was at the entrance of the hotel (near the sign) so the coaches picked you up & dropped you off at your doorstep - literally. There were a few down-sides to the location though. There is no sandy beach! There's either a mud beach or pebbles. We did miss the sand but as the pool was perfect, we got by. There is also not much to do locally. However, you can hire mopeds to get around. We didn't bother because the driving here seemed unsafe. I mean two coaches meeting head-on at a blindspot (where there isn't any form of safety precaustions, only a sheer drop of the cliff) isn't my kind of fun! We didn't do much walking beyond the hotel grounds either because as stated before there isn't much to do in the surrounding area. Down-sides to the hotel are; poor evening entertainment - we did have a giggle thought. I mean the entertainers miming their way through a rendition of Grease Lightening (when none knew the words) was quite amusing. The kids didn't seem to mind though. Do as we did & have a few cocktails before-hand & it'll become even more entertaining! All in all we both had a fab time. If you're after relaxation, do consider this - although be aware the hotel grounds are vast & steep. If you're after fun & froliking you'd be better off heading south towards Kavos. We would reccommend this hotels to young families & couples seeking peace. There isn't much for teenagers to do here. But it depends what you're after.
Great Holiday.
The rooms were basic, but who sits in the room all holiday? Beach was clean and water clear food was nice with a wide choice, Entertaiment lacked a little but we went out of the hotel for most evenings. Quad/moped shop at bottom of hotel is worth a look. Make sure you take your driving licenses as you will probably want a quad when you get there! Pools and gardens surounding hotel were lovely and well tendered. Great holiday and will probably go back as very well priced.
Loved it, thank you!!!
OK, i want to disagree with so many reviews about this hotel.. the hills are not bad at all - its great exercise for a start! the pool is always clean and sunbeds are always available... The bar staff are so lovely, so friends - as long as you are friendly to them. The best part of my holiday was the entertainment staff - Cornucopia Club. For the kids they were fantastic - and often went beyond the call of duty to look after them. The nightly entertainment was not just the same records over and over - they brought lots of varity and you could see that thier effort was huge! Thanks guys! you made me holiday! It was great that there were so many different natioanlities in the hotel - made some great friends from France! Enjoy this holiday - dont be put off by other people - it is great value for such a small amount of money. Greek people are great!
