Parador de Malaga Gibralfaro

TripAdvisor Member, Belfast. Ireland Stayed here for three nights in mid September having stayed here previously in 2004. No-one can dispute that the setting of the hotel is fantastic but we noticed a decline in both the physical standard and in the quality of the service. The reception staff were very pleasant and extremely helpful. However, the quality of the bar/cafeteria service was very poor. VIEW This is like relaxing in your personal helicopter and admiring the the ships coming and going in the busy port. From massive cruise ships with their ant like coaches trundling back and forth, to the tiny launch pursuing the ferries to retrieve the pilot. This property was amazing -- with a view of the coast and the city, as well as the bullring in the distance. The room was very large by European standards and comfortable with a small balcony with a great view. The pool was a perfect respite from Spain's hot August weather and the food at the lounge and the restaurant was outstanding. Even though the staff was a little on the snooty side, this stay was the most relaxing day of our vacation.

Our two night stay here ended our 33 day journey in England, Scotland, and Spain. And it was dreamy...perfect. My wife and sons wished we could have stayed longer. Large, well kept rooms. A beautify setting overlooking city, port, and even a glimpse we think of the coast of Africa on the skyline. The food was very good and the staff courteous and helpful and prompt. Stayed two nights and had a great room (201) with balcony and views over the port and town. Generally very quiet and relaxing hotel with all facilities on site if you just wanted to stay there. Good bar, cafe and restaurant with outside terrace with great views over Malaga for summer dining. 5/6 euros taxi ride into the city centre which takes under 10 minutes. This is a wonderful hotel, though I do agree with some of the other reviewers - it's pricy! I stayed for 2 nights only though, and it was a fabulous start to my holiday. If you've stayed in a Parador you'll know the amazing atmosphere and fantastic service that comes with these hotels: but this for me is the best I've stayed in. My room was immaculate with a totally private, flower-filled balcony, view over Malaga and the bullring, great bathroom with bathrobes and even slippers! Stunning! Gorgeous! Fabulous! Gorgeous large rooms with spacious bathroom and own balcony overlooking Malaga and the bullring. Does not come any cleaner. Fantastic shower and fluffy towels. Very helpful staff. Not cheap, but absolutely worth every cent. I recommend any traveller to Malaga to treat themselves to at least one night here. Absolutely decadent. Only criticism - the pool is too small to accommodate all the guests.

Parador in Malaga has great view and great restaurant. Rooms are a little bit small for the price and pool is small too. But the view is breath-taking! Walking distance to the Gibralfaro ruins. Great restaurant on 3rd floor, food was delicious and price was fine.

This wasn't the easiest place to find - but that is par for the course in Spanish cities. And it wasn't made easier by the link off their site not working. On the positive side, it is free parking, and the view from the terraces over the city were pretty incredible. We were there too short a period to take advantage of its location on the hill of the castle, but I understand it is worth a stroll up. I planned a trip for my family to Spain as a surprise. To do this, I had to communicate over email with the people at the Gibralfaro Parador several times. Each time they responded quickly (within a couple of hours--even with the time change) and with all the information I needed. Once we got to the hotel, the exceptional service continued.
