Astoria Hotel

My wife and I have just returned from staying at this hotel for 4 nights. We were almost put off by a couple of reviews we had read but it had already been booked and paid for through Thomas Cook so we were full of trepidation when we arrived but our accommodation was excellent - largish, clean, comfortable room with excellent good-sized bathroom. We have just returned from the Asroia Hotel in Malaga. The hotel was excellent. And in a suberb location. Walking distance to everything The rooms were very clean, and a decent size. The staff were very polite and helpful The only down side (not the hotels fault) was the Road construction work in front of the hotel, which was noisy of a morning. However it was a lovely hotel, would definately use again and recomment to others.

Six of us stayed in this hotel over Christmas and New Year and found it very nice. The rooms are nice and clean, and we found them to be a good size, (we stayed on the 3rd floor). The location is excellent with everything within walking distance. It's situated between the historic and commercial centre's so is ideal for sightseeing and shopping. Month of stay - Nov 2006 Positives: 1 - Convenient location - proximity to the train station (line C1 - Alameda, only 100 meters away). I write this because a review tells the hotel is difficult to find. Well, I guess that depends on the circumstances... I took the train "Cercanias" from the airport, and the hotel is just 50 m from the exit of the end station in Malaga. Very convenient, both when you arrive and when you leave. The room is average size, quite comfortable, and I can't think of any negative remark. The hotel is very close to/in central Malaga, so you don't spend much time in the room... Took us three hours to drive to this place once we were in Malaga. We started in daylight looking for this place but it got dark and could not read well the map nor the signs if any. Had a map but could not find the streets due to streets not marked well or at all. Road construction going on in front of hotel so you could not drive to front of hotel and there was no sign telling you where to go. Tried to get directions from gas station attendants but they did not speak English and only told us to follow signs to the port area. We kept on... more

Location is pretty good. It's a little bit of a walk to get to the beach. The shower is great, and rooms of good size. The reception staff speak english, however don't seem to know alot about Malaga. There was construction happening out the front of the hotel when we stayed.

We stayed twice in this hotel. The day we arrived in Spain, and the day before we left. First time we had not a very pleasant room, small, one bed to many, and a very small bathroom. the second time, we made a request, we had a great room, good view, big, and comfortable bathroom. Location, fine, specially when you have to drive back to the Airport of Malaga in the morning. Easy to find. Breakfast very good. Plenty of food, clean restaurant. Stayed for 4 nights. The hotel is very clean, room average size but adequate. Staff very helpful. Breakfast very good, plenty to eat. Situated very close to the centre, shops and sites. Very close to the Train to airport (on the same street) and other areas worth a visit (Benalmadena etc). The only downside was the bed was very very uncomfortable, worst I have ever slept on!

We stay in the hotel for two night. The room is good value for money, the staff is extremely helpful. The hotel room is just a bit small.
