Highly recommended
My husband and I spent one night at this hotel as part of a conference. We found the staff increasingly helpful. Our first room was beautiful with a lovely balcony, but it had two twin beds, so they promptly moved us to another room. The bathroom was clean and very large. The room was less spacious, but also clean and comfortable. The food was very good, especially the Don Curro ham, cheese and egg sandwich. On our second day there, we decided to skip the conference activities and go to the beach, which was about a 20 minute walk from the hotel. The beach itself was magnificent. The hotel staff held all of our bags (we were with friends, so among all of us, we had about six or seven large bags), gave us a map and directions, called a taxi for us later in the day when it was time to meet the rest of our group, and just generally went above and beyond the call of duty to assist us in every way. We were very grateful, and I would definitely recommend this hotel to travelers.
Fine but room tooooo small
Spent 2 nights in the hotel as we wanted to explore Malaga. Location: great. Staff and facilities are fine but room 403 is too small for 2 people. ie Can't open the wardrobe if beloved is sitting on bed with legs on floor! Looked on to concrete back but, if you're out and about, maybe this doesn't matter? BW
Stuffy hotel
The room itself was large and clean. Our only real complaint was that the staff in the hotel were a bit unfriendly. And the decor felt like a mens club. Very dark. The hotel was hard to get to in a car. We wound around in the one way streets until we could get there. But once in the hotel, the location is great. Just a short walk to the Picasso Museum, Alcazar, Cathedral and a great shopping street. The buffet breakfast was good, but again the staff was a bit unfriendly. Took around 20 minutes to get your car - so plan that time in.
A place you can take your mother
This is a "proper" place where everything is "just fine," and the location is good. Our room was on the third foor and not a bright as I would like. I wish I had asked to be moved to a room on a higher floor, but I didn't.
Great value and comfortable
Great value. Efficient reception staff. Comfortable room with parquet flooring. Good bathroom with excellent shower. Ideal location. Buffet breakfast at a very reasonable price.
Don't think they will see us again...!
We just got back from a week's holiday in Spain and spent the last night at Don Curro's simply because our plane left from Malaga. Judging from the previous comments I had quite high expectations. And ok, the location of the hotel is excellent and we found the room to be clean. BUT: Staff at reception were not exactly the most hospitable. Ok, so it is more of a business hotel but a smile or welcoming word doesn't cost anything. They did not mention anything about breakfast so we did not have any. What really anoyed us the most is that we did not sleep at all! It was terribly hot at night, we couldn't leave the window open as we were located at the back of the hotel and you could only hear the noisy fans of the restaurant (not to mention the unbearable smells!). Add a rather small bed to all this and we were exhausted by the time we got up. I asked the receptionist at check out what I should have done to make the airco work and he simply replied it did not work. Upon which I just payed the bill and left. Ok, could it be that I expect too much being in the hotel business myself? I did appreciate the cleanliness and the size of the room but what good does that do if you don't get what you want : a good night's sleep. No, definitely won't go back there, sorry!

Stayed four nights. Excellent location for exploring the city and in a quiet position. Room and bathroom spotlessly clean and in good decorative order. Staff businesslike but courteous and helpful. Did not eat in the restaurant and used local coffee shops for breakfasts Would stay again.
Good value, great location
Stayed with 10 other friends at the Don Curro for the weekend. As there were a big group we arranged to stay in a mixture of quad suites, triple suites and twin suites. We chose suites as the website showed there was a special rate the weekend we wanted. Contacted the hotel by fax on a few occasions before our visit to check out a few things and they were very accomodating. The hotel is in a brilliant location right near a main shopping street called Larios. Pretty much everything you need is nearby and because this hotel is just off the main street, it was fairly quiet so would be a good choice for people who don't like lots of noise at nights. There are plenty of attractions nearby and pretty good places to eat as well as a few good bars at the far end of the larios street. The beach is probably around a 15 or 20 minute walk but buses do run right by the hotel. Our rooms were very clean with nice spacious bathrooms with towels and toiletries provided also. It's not a real flashy hotel but it is very clean, spacious and organised which is the main thing I think! There is also a mini bar and safe in the room (you need to ask at receiption if you need the key for this!). The staff were really nice and helpful when we needed anything and spoke very good English. My only critisism I thought was the food in the restaurant. It was good for breakfast and it was lovely and clean with a good waiter service but the evening meals weren't that exciting....very basic really. If you want a nice meal but don't mind shelling out a few extra Euros, I'd suggest the Cafe de Paris up near the beach. Although we didn't eat here ourselves, we had a look round and checked out the menu and plan eating there next time as it looked fab. We will definitely stay here again when we visit and I would really recommend this hotel. Very good value for money and overall we were all very happy indeed.
Clean, affordable and great location
This was my 5th visit to Malaga and what a gem of a hotel. We stayed at other places but the price and location can't be beat. It was even better in location than the Palacio hotel and the staff was most accomodating. The place was not fancy but clean and spartan. We paid about $65/night only and they have complete ammenities in the room (eg. safe, TV..I actually like the soap infused sponges in the baths). They have non-smoking floors ( only first 2 floors smoking) but I found it funny that there were ashtrays and matches still in the rooms. Around the corner is the main shopping and walkstreet Calle de Larios. The cathedral and market were also nearby. Do check out the market in the morning. Jamon Iberico sandwiches for a steal! -trvlcrzy
Smart Hotel
We have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Don Curro Hotel in Malaga and were very impressed. Our room was a good size and very clean, reception were very helpful and the breakfast/meals (if required) were good. The taxi from Malaga airport was 15 Euros to the hotel which is situated in the very heart of Malaga, with the main shopping area just 50m away and the coast is about 150m away. The beach is about 1km (a 10 minute walk) away. The old town is easy to cover on foot with many bars, restaurants, shops, etc. The Cathedral is about 100m from the hotel and the Castle / Roman Theatre are about 300m / 400m away respectively. As others have stated, the location is excellent. Overall, I would recommend the Don Curro and would stay here again.
