Rey Carlos III Hotel Reviews
" First and foremost this was a very... "

First and foremost this was a very late booking, with the essential point of flying from my local airport - Bournemouth. Palmair are perhaps a little more expensive than the 'big-boys' but well worth that extra. Planes with real extra leg-room and flight staff that really care for their clients. This was the final flight of the season to Mahon and a whole season's work just never showed! No extras to purchase and fed well.
I had stayed in Mahon before, friends flat, so knew Es Castell, not a resort, but tiny working town. So for the latter part of October just ideal.
The Rey Carlos served me well for the week. It is quiet, slightly dated with basic rooms and good sized bathroom, mine seemed less dated. Everywhere was spotless. Outside, views were superb and the pool large -alas the weather foul for the most part so not used.
I found the food varied and plentiful, all buffet, the soup was to die for! Some clients in fairness found the time to moan about the food but as buffets go I thought it good, many others seemed to agree. Breakfast was huge and a number of times saw me through lunch. I paid an extra £4 an evening meal to my operator - a real bargain!
As for the staff, they proved to be one of the most pleasant teams I have met in a hotel. No matter what their duty they fulfilled that role in excellent mode and your room was kept spotless.
In fact this smashing team seemed to spill over onto the towns folk, for here shop-keepers and cafes proved to be very friendly and if eating out you must try the Espaniol Restaurant in the centre of town, superb menu and extremely reasonable.
From the hotel you need to walk 8/10 minutes for the bus into Mahon Bus Station - good service from there to rest of the island.
Splendid break, sad about weather, will go earlier next year, and yes return to the Rey Carlos, I trust little will change, a week of bliss.

We have been visiting this hotel for over 25 years. Very friendly staff, good service.
Although bedrooms are basic they are very clean and more than adequate. There are several public rooms, two friendly bars. Reception is excellent.
A variety of food for all meals. Half board (breakfast and evening meal) good value. Resonable priced lunch is served on the patio or the poolside bar area.
Views are stunning and the pool is one of the best and cleanest.
Lots of local bars and restaurants in Es Castell and nearby Mahon - good taxi service and car rental.
Peaceful and relaxing holiday. Mainly adults!
We have occasionally tested other hotels and holidays but keep coming back to the Rey Carlos and so do many other people. This is a good value holiday.

Upon arrival at the hotel I was greeted with kindness and swift customer service.
My room was very basic with a terrace circa 1970's and no sea view but pleasant and very clean.
Television and en-suite facilities.
Breakfast was good a selection of both hot and cold fayre and a beautiful view of the sea and landscapes.
For only 60e for a two night stay I thought that this was excellent value for money and would definitely recommend this hotel if you are on a budget.

This is a 3 star hotel in the most fantastic position on the harbour leading to the Port of Mahon. The hotel is spotless and the staff are really friendly. There are 3 terraces which all overlook the sea. Most rooms have sea views.
Other than entertainment once a week, there is absolutely nothing going on and you have to make your own entertainment.
Calas Fonts harbour is about a 10 minute stroll away and is where most of the nightlife is, consisting of a meal in a restaurant. Nothing else going on, it is very quiet. Not particularly good for shopping, but you are not far from Mahon if you want to shop.
