Quality hotel in very central location
from alanreynolds
The "Malaga Palacio" is an excellent choice for visiting Malaga's three main historical sites, e.g. Cathedral and Roman Theatre are 100 and 200 metres away respectively. The hotel's address would make it easier to find if it gave it at the east end of Alameda Principal. If you catch the metro from the Airport to the Centro terminus, it is about 10 to 15 minutes walk to hotel. If you see Cortes Ingles department store, walk along that road in OPPOSITE direction to and away from the store. I stayed 3 nights at the hotel, Wednesday 6-Saturday 9 February 2008. It is one of some 60 hotels in AC Group (AC seem to be the initials of the names of its founder). It is a quality hotel, strong on modern design, stainless steel and glass, and black and brown colours, I had room 1013 facing the port. Good views and not too noisy. It had a large double bed, armchair, desk, and plenty of cupboards and drawer space. The minibar contained soft drinks and beer. NO CHARGE is made for these drinks which are replaced daily. I have never come across this free service in any hotel anywhere in the world. There is no kettle, iron or ironing board however. Bathroom had a powerful shower over the bath, WC and bidet. Hotel provided toothbrush and paste, disposable razor, comb as well as usual shampoo. A very well equipped bathroom in my experience. My complaint about the room was that the air conditioning did not cool the room. It pumped out varying degrees of hot air. I complained twice to Reception but they said nothing could be done. "Simply switch it off and open door to balcony" was their advice. I did, and was then able to sleep. On the 15th floor there is a triangular shaped outdoor pool, about 25 m in circumference. It is NOT heated. I swam once but it was too cold even with sun shining on me. Behind the main post office and metro station is an O2 Wellness Centre with a 25m indoor pool, which I used twice. I had breakfast in the 2nd floor restaurant. Buffet style : several juices, some fresh fruit and yoghurts, cheeses, smoked meats but no fish. Several breads and cereals. About the norm for this quality of hotel. There is no business centre in the hotel. I found several small Internet shops in the central area. Most other guests appeared to be business people (mainly male). Very few tourists like me. Many hotel staff struggled to understand or/and speak English, so it may be necessary to put your question again using different words. I booked and paid in advance a daily rate to include breakfast of EUR 128 per night.
Great hotel, reasonable price for what you get.

Great hotel, centrally located. The best of 4 hotels we stayed in, in Andalusia. We didn't see much of the city because stayed in to swim in the rooftop pool, and to have a relaxed dinner on the roof terrace looking out over the harbor. Beautiful room with complimentary minibar, gorgeous bathroom, valet parking for 15 euro's, great service. Worth your money.
A conference hotel but very central location
from BeeneverywhereGirl!
I booked this Hotel for two nights in August because I got a great rate off travelres.net - I went with my significant other to spend a few days in Malaga before going down the Costa Del Sol. The Hotel would be great for a conference, its very minimalist, very smart with plenty of meeting rooms etc - maybe not the best holiday or relaxation hotel but in saying that I truelly enjoyed our stay there. The bedrooms were spacious (for a city centre hotel) with balconys , we had a fantastic view over looking Malaga port and the main tree lined avenue. As per previous reviewers advice I requested a room above the 6th floor and got onto the 10th floor which was really worth it. The bathrooms are great , spacious and with plenty of little hotel amenities like toothbrush, sewing kits, comb, shampoo , lotions , packet of tissues etc. Free mini bar only contains one bottle of alchol - San Miguel Beer but has plenty of soft drinks and bottles of mineral water which they replenish during your stay. The rooftop pool was small but fantastic - with a lovely restaurant on the top floor beside it. You can get great views out over the city by going up to the rooftop pool and we did plenty of sunbathing and swimming. The best thing about the hotel is the location which is so central, just parrell to it is their main shopping street, the fabulous breath taking Cathedral and millions of windy streets with lovely tapas bars and bars , some in the Cathedral square - we paid €4.40 for a beer and a glass of wine in front of the Cathedral ! The conceirge at this hotel is great with calling taxis, helping with luggage and recommending restaurants
Great Location
from Hilltop7
Right in the down town area, this hotel is one of the AC group of hotels which specialize in facilities for business travelers and tourists. Minimalistic stylish furnishings, on counter basins, lots of glass! sleek wooden floors (can be a problem noise wise if hotel busy) White towels and white linens . English TV channels, CNN. Staff will park cars off site or you street park. Lots of cafe's restaurants wonderful cathedral. Don't pass it by.
Great hotel

We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel.............best to be on 13th floor away from street noise......room only.breakfast very expensive, but will sell you tea and toast with a look of amusement on their faces! Recommmended...
Fabulous Location
from Medievalist
Malaga Palacio is a Spanish luxury hotel with fabulous views of the harbour, the cathedral, and the old city. Be careful to specify the view that you want, since some rooms have no view at all. Location is within walking distance of all the major tourist attractions; you can buy opera tickets at a nearby Unicaja office and catch almost all the city buses within a block. Breakfast features fine Spanish hams, fresh fruit, and omelets cooked to order. The staff is generally helpful, particularly the night staff. If you depart before breakfast begins, they bring a tray to your room. The minibar is free and includes bottled water and good Spanish beer. Minor complaints include the following: wi-fi internet connection is overpriced and unreliable; roof level pool is not heated. Also, there is lots of noise from trash collectors, parties in the adajacent public gardens etc. So ask for a room on the 8th floor or above.
Great location
from suseWYorks
I have stayed here several times and always really enjoyed it. The rooms are good and the minibar is free. No kettle but room service is cheap. Good G&T in the bar! Tiny pool on the roof a bonus. Ideal location for the town, right by the Cathedral. Good value.
Good hotel - nice location
from Traveller_From_Herts
Stayed here on business for two nights and was presently surprised by the hotel. There was renovation in progress which meant that the bar was not available, but drinks were served in an area of the restaurant. The room was of a good size with a comfortable bed and an excellent bathroom with a powerful shower. As my stay was during the Winter season the air conditioning was not operating and as a result the room was hotter than I would have wished. Opening the door to the balcony allowed some cooler air to enter the room, but also allowed the traffic noise in - this could be a problem for a light sleeper. The breakfast buffet (16 Euros) was excellent with plenty of choice including freshly squeezed orange juice, cereals, fruit, and a range of hot and cold foods. The hotel is within walking distance of restaurants and bars in the old quarter of the city and we had some excellent meals at very reasonable prices. There is a taxi rank right outside the hotel for longer journeys. The staff were welcoming and friendly and humoured our pitiful efforts to order our drinks in Spanish. Wireless Internet connection is available at a cost of 12 Euro for 24 hours which I felt was somewhat on the high side. In contrast the in-room mini bar (stocked with water, beer and soft drinks) was completely free.
Good Value and Good Standard
from Chriswalkley
We got a reasonable deal through expedia (about £60 a night) which was good value. The hotel is in a great location in the heart of Malaga, with clean and well designed rooms. Nice roof top pool with great views. Service from reception staff a bit hit and miss. One lady was extremely helpful, another was plain rude. But this is not a hotel to hang around in as Malaga is such a pleasant place to spend a few days and nights. Do go to the Picasso museum and go to the beach for some fish and sangria! Would happilly return to Malaga and this hotel.
A pretty good central hotel in the old town
from AndreaHanson
Well, if you are looking for charm and character then this is not the place, but then those types of properties are hard to find in Malaga itself. We would have preferred the parador but it was full. However, this hotel cannot be beaten for location being next door to the Cathedral/Old Town/Harbour etc. and the rooms (while rather sterile - typical of a chain hotel) were spotless with a good large bathroom and a balcony. The lobby was rather unwelcoming & austere. Breakfast was a bit pricey but good and varied and given the location it was relatively quiet for a Spanish city hotel. The Spanish start the evening late so be advised & take earplugs if you want to leave the window open! The door to our minibar had fallen off and it took 2 days to get it fixed and the only other problem we had was that, while they advertised private parking, it was never available for the 4 nights we were there and the public parking around the corner cost €21.75/night. It was clean & comfortable, if not memorable!

This is the best relaxing holiday I've ever had. Nick and Lesley really make you feel at home and have sussed what us Brits really want. And an added bonus is being able to book Kelly for massages or facials. If you're stressed out, then come to this place, its warm and... more
