" BEWARE NOT FOR CHILDREN  "

just got back after 10 days in a hotel that advertise for families and young children what a load of rubish i have a 14 6 and 2 year old my son went to the kids club which he could not understand because the host kept speaking in spanish i told him speak in engish but just give me a funny look. they put the same food out every night for children which is fishfingers and chips or pasta and chips and nothing else. we paid for half board but ended up going out for meals in the town every night. its just full of old spanish couples who dont like children its not safe round the pools because there close to the edge of cliffs and kids like to exsplore. if your a couple you will enjoy this hotel if you have young children stay well clear

" cant wait to go back "

this was our second holiday here and it was better than the first, my husband and myself came with our 3 daughters aged 17, 17, & 9. when we were allocated our 2 rooms we asked if we could have 2 with an adjoining door as we had the previous year, this was sorted immediately with no fuss. as soon as we got to our rooms the maid arrived with some complimentary champagne & soft drinks for us and an invitation to a cocktail evening as we had been here the previous year it was there way of saying thankyou.
The head waiter gretted us as old friends and remembered my youngest daughter as "beautiful blue eyes" which he had nicknamed her last year, we were given an excellent table by the window with lovely veiws, as the days went by we were recognised by a number of staff who are all very friendly cheerful and helpful. The food is excellent the service is excellent the entertainment is goog especially for youg children & even my teenage daughters enjoyed a lot of the shows, and they love going into town to Blue Breeze later in the evening as this is full of people there age.
We are returning here again this year but it will be just the 3 of us cause the 2 teenagers are now 18 and are doing there own thing. I cant wait to return there and am positive we will have a wonderful time for the 3rd year running.

Advice: lots of bars & retaurants, good entertainment at the square every night, very family orientated

Activities: cala galdana beach is beautiful. citudella lots of lovely restaurants by the harbour

Good for: Beach

" We have just returned from 2 weeks at... "

We have just returned from 2 weeks at this hotel and had a lovely time. The hotel staff are all polite and very helpful. We stayed in a superior room which had fantastic sea and pool views and the rooms were kept very clean - superior rooms have a fridge/mini bar, kettle with tea, coffee etc, play station, dressing gowns and free newspaper every day. The air conditioning worked very well in the room, infact during the night sometimes was a bit too cold, but is controlled in the room and can be turned off.
All the pools were nice, although didn't particularly like the salt water. The childrens pool was emptied every night and the medium and large pools water was changed at least 4 times during our stay, so was always clean. You could also get a sunbed at anytime during the day, which we could not believe!
Entertainment was pretty good in the hotel they always either did their own show or had an outside act in, which the ones we saw were good. There is a lot more spanish than english in hotel so found the entertainment team spoke mainly in spanish then english, but sometimes could not understand what they were saying!
The food was an excellent standard. I am a fussy eater but always found something really nice every night and the puddings were lovely. Breakfast is your usual bacon, sausage, eggs, toast, crossiants, hams, cereals etc.
The kids club you could come and go but our 5 year old only went once and didn't want to go again as he was just happy playing in the pool.
The only negative I would have with this hotel is that food and drink in the snack bar was really expensive. We was half board and only ate outside of the hotel 1 night as we found the food good in the hotel, we still managed to spend £900 in 2 weeks on drinks and snacks within the hotel! I would advise buying bottled water and cans of drink really cheaply from the supermarket attached the the hotel.
The resort is good for kids with a lot of the bars and restaurants having bouncy castles, trampolines and play centres attached.

We would definitely return to this hotel and would recommend to anyone with a young family. Definitely should be higher than a 3 star.

" Just got back from a weeks stay half... "

Just got back from a weeks stay half board in Almarante Farragut and I can honestly say we had a fantastic time. The hotel is clean, welcoming and set on the cliffs has an amazing view from all the bedrooms. we arrived at midnight and a meal was waiting for us when we arrived. We asked for a pool view if possible and when we looked out of the room the view was amazing, we were overlooking a quiet sandy bay with panoramic views for miles, The hotel is on the edge of Cala n forcat and as such is away from the noise and bustle of the holiday town, however its only a short walk to all the bars and resturaunts. The hotel itself is a 3 star but far better than any 3 star I have stayed in before. We were half board and the food has to be the best buffet menu I have encounterd. lots of choice and usually an english dish is available if wanted. The waiting staff are very smart and efficient and are vey quick at clearing up and making sure everything is ok. The pool area has plenty of sunbeds and umberellas for shade. there are 2 pools , both are more than 4ft deep all round but there is also a small 'paddling ' pool for none swimmers. The pools use salted water from the sea. overall the pool area is kept very clean and we didn't even get any problems with flies which is unusuall as the weather was averaging 35 degrees. Our maid ( we think she was called Polly) has to have a mention, She kept the room spotless for us and always gave us a cheery Hola and smile each day. The only down side ( if we have to find one) was the air conditioning in the room , we didn't have any control over the time it was on and sometimes the room was just too hot to sleep. however on a plus side all rooms have a large ceiling fan so this was a great help. I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone and we are already planning to go again next year.

" Just arrived back from a weeks... "

Just arrived back from a weeks holiday at this hotel and we have to say that we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

There was always a good selection of food and the same thing was never served twice. Even at breakfast there was a good selection. The only downside was that it is a buffet restaurant and not table service, but this didn't bother us.

The staff work very hard and are always willing to help, including the entertainment team who also provided activities during the day for both children and adults. We felt that the area of cala'n forcat was fairly quiet but the excellent entertainment provided by the hotel meant we only went out a few evenings during the week. The main strip of restaurants and bars was only a few minutes walk away.

We would definately recommended hiring a car, it cost about the same as hiring a car in the UK, but well worth it if you wish to see the rest of the island. We would also recommend the Fiesta boat trip that departs from Citradella and sails along the South West coast, stopping at various immaculate virgin beaches for a swim and a sunbathe.

The hotel is next to a very very small beach, but is only used by hotel residents so was never busy and due to its location it was quite a sun trap. A slightly larger beach at cala'n banes is about a 25 minute walk from the hotel. We were quite concerned about the reports of jellyfish in the sea, however we only saw 2 jellyfish the whole week and as the water is very clear, they are easy to spot.

We will certainly return to this hotel in the future.

" Just come back from a week at this... "

Just come back from a week at this hotel with my husband & we absolutely loved it - it should be a 4 star not a 3 star. Food wise, I'm a veggie & although they really cater for meat eaters, I still found the food great as I love salads & pasta. The cakes & desserts are to die for too!! The staff are very polite and helpful and if you have kids there is loads of entainment provided for them.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and familty

" This is the second time we have... "

This is the second time we have stayed in this beautiful hotel. We were holidaying with our friends. The hotel is wonderful, the staff are helpful and friendly. Food is ok. Our rooms were cleaned every day.

Once a week the hotel would hold a specialty evening in the restaurant and the chefs would display their magnificent fruit carvings. and a grand selection of home made cakes.

The surrounding area is so nice, ideal for snorkeling and diving and taking long walks.

The bus stop is outside the hotel and will take you into the nearest town from where you can find a bus that will take you anywhere on the island. The town is ok, there are the usual tourist shops that stock plenty of tat for you to take home with you, and there are lots of English/Irish bars if you fancy a night away from the hotel. We will definitely be paying a return visit sometime in the future.

" The Hotel Almiranti Faragut was... "

The Hotel Almiranti Faragut was fantastcic, we are going again this year, i like the way they do the childrens entertainment around the pool at varius times instead of taking your child off for two hours in doors away from you. This way you can see your child and also get an hour here or there relaxing. I also think it's great the way they have put metal steps around the coves, this means it's even easy for me and the kids to have a go at snorkling. the food is great, so much choice and fantastic displays. i think the towel service is a great idea, 15 euro deposit and clean beach towels when ever. this we did every day as they got salty from the pool. The entertainment is great but we went out most nights, the one night we didn't they entertained the children until 11pm!
The resort is fantastic especially for kids under 10. so many bars have play areas for kiids, bouncy castles, trampolines, this gives the whole family what they want.
Our favourite place is the Tropical Kiss, famous amongst visitors, this will be our fourth year to the resort, the tropical kiss is so poular the owner seems to know every one, as they return every year. the measures are great!! a smile and a chat from the staff are allways a welcome. the seats are perfect and so are the cocktails if you want to just watch the world go by, while the children play. now we meet up with the same families every year i haven't met any one yet that said they were not going to go back!

" Just returned from a fortnight at... "

Just returned from a fortnight at this very good value for money hotel. Hotel staff polite and helpful. Very clean throughout the hotel. Rooms a good size with good facilities. Shower was brill. Huge built in wardrobes. We had a great view of the sea overlooking Majorca in the distance.

There was a great variety and selection of food for all tastes, even my fussy husband. Entertainment was okay if you like bingo, also had the occasional good act. The only downside was the Spanish senior citizens, they have their holiday at this time of year and they come over in their hundreds. We found them to be very rude and arrogant and if they want in the front of the queue then they just barge in whether it be in the hotel, on the bus, anywhere.

Many of the shops were closed as the resort closes down in October. My advice is not to go in October, but do go as it is a lovely place.

" I have just returned from a stay for... "

I have just returned from a stay for half term with my husband & daughter (14). We all found the facilities & staff at the hotel to be faultless & feel that it is under graded as a 3 star.

As it was late October the weather was not great but there was plenty to do, we had all been upgraded to full board so were able to enjoy lunch too. The food was excellent with lots of choice & we were always able to find something we liked.

Unfortunately there had been a severe storm the week before our visit so the "beach" was a crater with no sand.

We enjoyed our time relaxing around the pool & being salty rather than smelling of chlorine. Our daughter & the friends she made were all able to swim (despite the temperature). The entertainment provided was also enjoyable & varied.

A short walk to the shops found us everything we needed & the bus ride into Cituidella was worthwhile for souvenirs etc.

We would certainly consider another stay.

" Just returned from 1 week’s holiday... "

Just returned from 1 week’s holiday half board at the Almirante Farragut Hotel.

The hotel and location was great. We could not fault the food or service, the staff was very friendly and pleasant. Plenty of choice for breakfast and evening meals.

Accommodation was very clean, sheets changed mid week and towels every day. There was a fridge in the room, if you’re like me and like your cup of tea first thing in the morning take a travel kettle with you.

The hotel was very spacious and plenty of room for everyone. I was impressed with the security every evening a security guard was prominent inside the building it made me feel safe.

I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone and give it thumbs up 10 out of 10.

" Very clean friendly hotel, with... "

Very clean friendly hotel, with lovely staff and a high standard of English and local knowledge. We were half board and ate breakfast at the hotel 3/7 mornings and had one dinner there. The breakfast was nice although it finished at 10.30am by which stage there was not much left (buffet style).

The dinners and lunches were not appealing to us as it was mostly veal, duck and fish which neither of us eat so we chose to eat out 6/7 nights.

The hotel was well equipped and there was a lot for adults and children to do. My only complaint would be that the pools are salty, which is a nuisance as it irritated our eyes every time we used the pool.

The 'main strip' was only a 10 minute walk away and was ideal for older couples or families, however if you are a younger traveller this resort is not recommended unless you plan on just relaxing and not staying out too late.

I travelled with my boyfriend who is 23 and I am 21 and for us it was just too quiet. We did want a relaxing holiday but with the option to stay out later if we wanted. By 1am the resort was all but closed with only a handful of places still open and those which were open were dancing orientated bars.

The views, restaurants and local shops etc. were all great value for money and we did not have a bad meal apart from one (Cuore steakhouse) where the service was slow and our waiter was very rude and it was obvious they were understaffed. Avoid this place unless you have time to spare.

Do get the local bus to Ciutadella. There are good shops and markets and the bus only costs 1.35 per person one way and the bus leaves every half hour and the journey only takes 20 minutes approx.
