Sunway Playa Golf Sitges Hotel & Apartments

I really appreciated the friendly attitude of the staff. At times they were busy with arriving guests, but when ever they had time, they tried to help in every way possible. I was part of a photography group shooting for a swimwear catalog. The hotel staff were good sports, with us posing bikini models in bushes in the hotel courtyard and bustling around at both 7am and 7pm to get sunrise / sunset shots on the beach. The staff was most helpful. The hotel is new and safe and clean. I stayed in sort of a small apartment with a kitchen that contained a clothes washer (a timer prevents the door from opening right away after washing). There is a small convenience store in the basement just below the lobby, with limited hours, but has the basic bread, wine, cheese, sun tan lotion, etc. The hotel is at the far west end of the town's beach and hence slightly isolated, but it's only a pleasant 20 minute walk along the beach front parks to the center of the old small town (or a 5 minute cab ride). It is quite easy and cheap to take a train from just outside the Barcelona Airport to Sitges (one transfer and then along the seaside and through about three tunnels). A cab from the Sitges train station to the hotel takes perhaps ten minutes for a cost of maybe eight euros. A cab from the airport would be about ten times that much. I liked the location; on the water with a golf course on one side and sandy beaches and small beach front parks on the other. I have circled the globe on adventure travels and sometimes have stayed in huts on a beach and a five star hotel in Cheng-du and Four Seasons hotels in Boston and Marina del Ray. This hotel was comfortable in every way for my needs. It is not a five star big city hotel; rather it is a very nice, moderate sized, well managed beach front hotel. Steve H. Bozeman MT USA

My husband, daughter (2) and I stayed here while we relocated back to the United States. Overall, we found the hotel to be suitable. We were there in the off-season so it was very quiet and not crowded. For people with children, it's great because there is a full kitchen, washing machine, dishwasher and separate living quarters that provide you with privacy when the kids go to sleep. The rooms are large for Spain and it sits right on the Med giving you incredible views of the water and the sunrise/sunset. The front desk representative was very pleasant and spoke several languages which was helpful. On the negative side, I had an issue with the cleanliness of the room. When we arrived, there was a dead moth crushed in the door stop and many spiderwebs hanging in the corners. The tub was not clean. When we tried to order room service, no one answered the phone. When we went down to the restaurant, there was no guests there and the staff was just standing around chatting among each other. They just didn't feel like answering the phone. Once we received our food, we were told to just leave the dishes in the sink overnight and the maid would get it the next day (which she did not). We also were unable to get our laundry out of the washing machine for almost 6 hours. We received many suggestions on how to get the machine open, but none were right. We finally figured out that you have to turn the machine 'off' to get the clothes out. The biggest problem was our last night when we tried to eat in the cafeteria and waited 1 full hour for service. The barmaid kept saying she would wait on us 'in a minute' but she never came. We ended up leaving and eating somewhere else. This hotel has a convenience store onsite but beware the fresh food - we saw rotten tomatoes with mold clearly on them sitting out for someone to buy...and all check expiration dates... For Spain, this is an acceptable hotel but make sure you understand that customer service is not the same here as in other countries. Have patience.

Had a great time. Went with 7 mates on a golfing holiday playing at the course next door and a number of others in the area. Hotel was good, clean and very helpful (apart from the restaurant recommendation which was awful !!). Recommended

Very nice apartment with balcony (we had a partial sea view although many face direct onto the sea), kitchen, bathroom, living area (with sofa bed) and bathroom. Breakfast was included in our rate and this was excellent - so we had the best of both worlds - self catering facilities but with breakfast included. if you like a frequent cup of tea or coffee take an electric travel kettle with you - the kitchen has a ceramic electric two ring hob and the kettle provided takes while to boil. Location is almost the last building in Sitges so it is quite a walk from the centre (at least 20 minutes) so a bit far at night for small children although the walk along the prom is lovely. The aprtments are located right on the sea front so you can sit on your balcony and listen to the sea. Two swimming pools - a bit chilly in October. Apartment decor is fine but nothing special. Apartment was very clean. Sitges was quiet in October. Overall a very pleasant place to stay and we would return.

We are a family of two adults and two children. The apartment was lovely. Clean as a whistle, and with a sea view. Great kitchen and bathroom. My only worry was the height of the balcony. It was not 'high' enough to stop a 2 year old from possibly climbing up and falling over the edge. This, to me, is a safety issue as we were on the 4th floor so to anyone with small children, vigilance is needed in this area. The pool looked great but, unfortunately, as it was October, was closed. Even though it was still warm enough to swim. The secure parking is expensive, and, the spaces are small. If you have a large vehicle, e.g. 4WD, you will have problems if you share a space with someone else as manouvering is difficult. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place to anyone. If you have small kids though, try and request a room 'lower down' as the upper rooms have rather low lying balconies.

We stayed in the hotel for 4 nights....fab room on the 4th floor and very large balcony overlooking the med which was fantastic. We arrived by train from the airport.....be warned about the taxis we waited for ages eventually got one. The hotel is a good 25 mins walk into the town centre. Nice little town...fab restaurants and bars....interesting nite life !! Getting up to barcelona was quite easy and cheap. Only negative feedback on the hotel was ...breakfasts got a bit boring with the selection....You have to check out by 10am.....we had a late flight and asked if we could keep the room to which we were told this request was'impossible' .We asked if there was a courtesy room and the answer was no ! the reason being it was summer ! We were told we could change in the showers by the pool...when we pointed out they were dirty, all we got was a shrug of the shoulders. I just thought this was disappointing for a 4 star hotel. It didn't ruin our stay. Would go back to Sitges but might try another hotel.

We were really pleasantly surprised with our "suite" of rooms at the Sunway. It was really useful to have a washing machine and the kitchen comes fully equipped. This really is 4**** quality and everything appeared brand new. The breakfast buffet was excellent for10 Euros each - they even had 3 different flavoured soya milk - perfect for my picky eating. A good selection of healthy options too - loads of fresh fruit and nuts etc. This hotel is a good 20mins walk along the promenade - 30mins plus from Sitges station and a cab will cost you approx 7 Euros. We found it quite hard going in the midday heat and we are late twenties! For those who dont know there is a bus that runs direct to Sitges ( no stopping ) from Barcelona airport - making this an excellent destination for a quick weekend. It takes 30 mins and runs approx every 30 mins on a weekday ( less at the weekends). The hotel also has a minimarket and you can hire bikes. I would definately stay there again!

Gorgeous hotel. Two pools, helpful staff, great restaurants, right on the beach, amazing views from our room. The rooms we had were akin to a small apt, with a huge bathroom and great kitchen complete with washer! We loved it here. Definitely plan to return. It's the last hotel on the promenade and is a bit of a walk to the centre, but the walk is beautiful and there is a beach shuttle you can take until 8pm if you don't feel like walking. If you want to stay in the centre, this is not the hotel for you, but if you want a beautiful quiet stay with all the amenities, choose this one!

We were only staying in Sitges to visit the L'Atlantida nightclub and this hotel is as close as you can possibly get to it. We staggered home along the beach along with the other revellers and it took all of 10 minutes to get home. The apartments were large, clean and well-equipped. The balcony was great for a glass of Cava before going out for dinner and perfect for a lazy breakfast. We were lucky enough to get a room literally on the beach - no road between our balcony and the beach, so you could hear the sound of the waves clearly. This place definitely deserves its No.1 placement!

Eight of us recently stayed in two s/c apartments in the Sunway Tara apartment block, which is one of a series of Sunway properties in Sitges. Tara is mostly rented out to gay travellers from the UK but I have also stayed at the nearby Sunway Apollo which is more mixed. Both properties have a variety of apartments sleeping between 2 and 6. Both have been excellent: clean, pleasant and centrally located; nice little kitchen units; balconies for meals; good size pools; peaceful and quiet and the Tara now has aircon which this year proved a real boon in the 35+ deg heat. Pricewise, some real bargains can be had if there is a group of you sharing one of the bigger apartments. Recommended.
